Silfish OS on Moto G is posible?
Sailfish? Sure if only anyone build it for us

And it's S"a"ilfish OS, like a fish that is sailing
So I'm just curious at this point..I know I'm on the orig. Moto g forums. With that being said its been said that moto g 2nd gen is the exact same phone as the orig moto G just with a bigger screen..but same screen resolution, same internals, same battery etc. But the moto g does have front speakers and a slight bump on the camera.
My question is..
Can the orig moto g Roms work for the moto g 2nd gen since there the same exact phone?
The reason I'm post in this on here instead of the 2nd gen forums is I know not a lot of people who own orig moto g will jump to the 2nd gen even devs for that matter but did anybody on here jump ship and know if this will work?
Moto G (1st Gen), Moto G LTE and Moto G (2nd Gen) each have unique Kernels and ROMS. They are not interchangeable from my experience. When a custom kernel is available for 2nd Gen maybe then you can try one of the zips from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-stock-motorola-rom-collection-t2854688
While the hardware is almost identical, Motorola have made changes breaking compatibility. It probably wouldn't be a massive challenge for a skilled developer.
Summary: Someone needs to create a modified Moto G (2nd Gen) stock kernel that is compatible with Moto G (1st Gen) ROMs. Even if the ROM did boot, camera and other features may not work.
Of course it will not works, even between Moto G 2013 variants (XT1032, 1033, 1034..) do not work on each other.

Not true. I have flashed ROMs (including kernel) for XT1028, XT1031, XT1033 and XT1034 on XT1032 and they work.
Since the moto G 2013 and 2014 are practically the same device only differences being bigger screen and expandable storage? couldn't we flash the 2014 lollipop firmware on the 2013 edition?
sorry if i seem like i have an extra chromosome to you super experience devs. but it seemed like such an obvious solution....
No
Please inform yourself about Android kernel and drivers. Request to close this has been submited.

hi all
i am looking for the best android for my girlfriend's phone. she needs as many free storage on the phone as possible so i also would like to compare the systems's storage sizes.
what would you recommend for her?
thanks in advance!
Use Resurection Remix ROM Android 6 and my guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/guide-tutorial-motorola-moto-g-4g-to-t3516234
But download ROM and TWRP compatible with Moto G 1st Gen instead of mine.
actually What Do u Want?? Rom Update or Suggestion on buying new android phone?
My girl friend has a Moto G (1st Gen.) with only 1GB RAM. This device has the officieal Android 5.1 installed.
I'm considering to install LineageOS 14.1 on it. Can anyone tell me whether this is suitable with only 1GB RAM?
My Moto G4 Play has 2GB, and with no additional running app the whole system consumes about 800MB. If it would be the same on the 1GB-device, I think she could run into problems.
Thanks in advance,
Olli
