Hey guys, its been a long time since I've been on here asking questions, but I am completely stumped. I got an Irulu Victory 1S china phone. I achieved root, installed CWM. Problem was there was not enough storage space on main drive, as it was partitioned at 800mb for system apps and 5gigs internal SD storage. I found an app specifically for that phone manufacturer that partitioned the drive to 2.5 gigs. Flashed new Rom, Cyogen, now I am stuck in a boot loop. I can get into CWM no problem. But no matter what Rom I install, even after clearing delvik, cache, system, it just boot loops. I found from manufacturers website the original disk img files, but when using MTKtools it says disk size doesn't match file. I found a a blog that has a more detailed instructions on how to modify MBR and EBR1 using editors, but nothing on how to fix size issues. Any help is appreiated. I have win10 and Linux Mint systems if that helps any. Im assuming that there is a file or something I need to edit to get new roms to boot. I can do remote desktop sessions as well if needed. Im not computer dumb, but I know enough to get around windows and linux.
PS: I can only boot into recovery, when I ADB Shell it, it comes up as 123456789ABCDE RECOVERY as device. Cant seem to pull or push any files this way.
Update; Ok so I tried using EBR edit tool. Modified EBR to 2.5 gigs. Did a system, cache, and delvik wipe. Tried to install rom. Now it finds package, starts to open it, and then goes back to CWM main page. Tried several Roms with same results. It starts to install, but then flashes back to main recovery page. Now Im even more confused!

Best bet is to get your partitions restored to factory partition table and then try flashing the stock firmware.
When in recovery, have you tried doing a full system and data wipe with the advanced wipe options and then flashing your ROM?

Well, i rooted my phone and that work then i wanted to install rom tryed that and used. An app called ROM manger and installed cyanogenmod 7 that happend but it kept doing the same thing with the andriod dude on the skateboard going around on the screen... did something to the phone with the clockwork recovery thing and then that was gone now the htc white screen boots up but just sits like that what can i do to fix this.... help please pretty big nooob i was dumb for doing this and didnt know what i was doing hopefully i can get my phone up and runing thanks

Its better to flash a rom manually. And defenitely need to make a backup before you flash anything.
You also need to download titanium backup. It back ups your apps.
Now you need to boot into recovery, wipe data, cache, go to mounts and storage, then format cache boot. And dalvik cache. Then you go to install from sd card and install the rom from there(which means you have to put the rom file on the root of your sd.) Download from the comp and do it.
You need to wipe everything before you flash a rom.
And please read before doing anything.

i know how to wipe the data, cache but i cant find the format cache boot and how do you put the rom on the root of the sd card sorry im a big noob at this :/
To format, you must go into mounts and storage and its in there. And since your on stock rom, you need to plug your phone into your comp via USB cable. A screen pops up on your phone, and set it to disk drive. Something should pop up on your comp, click on open files to view in folder, (if your on windows), then drag and drop. Don't drop into any folder. Just drop into main one. You obviously have to download the rom you want. There located in the developement section of this forum. I tried to explain as noobish as I can... I was once in your place.

for those who are sufferring similar problems (i got this a few times myself) go back to the bootloader (vol. down+power) do a factory reset and cache wipe, then reinstall and it should load fine.
Hi everyone, long time lurker first time poster. I seem to have gotten myself into a jam.
I was running the new Cyanogenmod build, however some of the system sounds weren't coming through properly and I decided to reflash it. It wasn't until I did a full wipe that I realized I forgot to put the ROM and Gapps onto the phone first, stupid I know, so now I'm stuck at boot as there's no operating system to run.
My computer won't recognize the device, nor will adb. I'm using CWM 5.8.4.5 and I can't find any option under mounts and storage to mount USB storage, only system, data, cache and emmc.
ODIN will recognize the phone however I only want to use it as a last resort to flash a new ROM.
So my question is, is there any way to get my computer to recognize the phone or to use ODIN to transfer the file?

Well I have the same question as I too have deleted the operating system so i cant enable debuggging so my computer doesnt know the phone exist no mater how many drivers I try or adb files I install nothing. Ive don it before but I dont remember how I did it. I have the Skipsoft Program for my 1plus5T but it says no device found. Whats the next step in flashing or pushing a file to my invisasble phone..thanks again for your time:laugh::laugh::laugh::crying::crying::crying:
I'm having trouble getting feedback, and Google is of little help. I'm sure I'm not the only person with this problem but I can't find anyone else with the answer so I'm hoping one of you has a link to my answer.
Anyways I got a GoTab 6Inch running 4.0.4
It came stock with a main partition of 400MB and an SD partition of 2.3GB.
Out of both of these partitions, the 400MB one was protected in and the 2.3GB on could be "erased" by going into the settings and then storage. So I decide to "Factory Reset" and check the "Erase SD card" box.
Well with no warning from the tablet's home page or included instruction booklets, they say nothing about what was on this "free to erase" open partition. Apparantly it had some way-important files as I now can't get into recovery menu. The 400MB partition went down to 0.00MB but somehow has 39MB reserved for apps. And the 2.3GB is empty as 2.3GB. As well as no recovery menu, you also can't format to factory settings now.
Since the main partition is 0.00MB, you can't install or update apps. Also settings can't be saved, so every app is booting up as if its the 1st time every time.
If I learned anything from my Android 1.5 guides I used to read about 4 years ago, I think I need to somehow manually root, flash a new recovery, make a partition or two, and flash a whole new kernal/OS. Can anyone help with this? Getting a new recovery and partitions working properly is of the utmost imprtance because now if something goes wrong, I cant go into recovery to unbrick a device.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE (SGH-I727R, but the same as the SGH-I727) and was wondering how a guy would go about re-partitioning the internal storage on the phone.
The phone has 16gb of internal memory. This has been partitioned, from what I can see, into 2gb and 12gb. The 2gb 'system' partition where your OS and apps, etc are installed and the 12gb storage partition for things like photos, music, movies, etc.
I don't store anything on my phone, mostly just photos. So i have approximately 9gb of the 12gb of the 'storage' partition available. However, the 'system' partition is pretty much maxed out. I'm running Vincom's Superlite CM10.2 rom with minimal apps installed, but it says that i only have around 160mb available and I've begun to received the 'low storage space' error/notification.
I understand that I can use Odin to re-partition the device but that I require .pit files in order to do so. Furthermore, the stock .pit files wouldn't change the size of the partitions. Ideally I'd like to increase the size of my 'system' partition and reduce the size of my 'storage' partition.
Can anyone out there help me? Please let me know if you need more info from my device.

messing around with the partitions will most likely hardbrick the device so no one would ever try doing it, the only way your system partition is filling up is if you are manually installing apps into that partition or the partition is messed up, odin back to stock, then wipe everything including preload then do a fresh install of a custom rom
Will do, I'll update later with results. It's weird though, i haven't manually changed the default installation locations for apps, they just automatically install there. I'll wipe and format everything, odin back to stock, flash the latest version of TWRP and then flash SL CM10.2 and let you know.

Odin'd back to stock, wiped everything (cache, dalvik, system, data, android secure), formatted USB storage, Odin'd TWRP 2.6.3.0 - everything went fine in that respect.
Booted into recovery, went to flash SL CM10.2 (i dropped these in 'external_sd' after formatting usb storage) and got the following error during the 'making sure you really do have the skyrocket and jb radio' sequence:
'assert failed: run_program (" /tmp/test_radio_vers
E:error executing updated binary in zip '/sdcard
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/external_sd/CM-10.2_
Updating partition deatils...'
Seeing as how I'm attempting to flash from stock rom (which was a GB rom) does it matter that the test sequence is looking for a JB radio?

also noticed that it won't let me wipe 'data' in TWRP... says failed, with the error 'unable to wipe /data'
rebooted into recovery and now it will let me wipe 'data'....wtf is going on with my phone?
you need todo more reading as u need jb radio or else it will not install cm10.2+ and post an error and sometimes after the error twrp should be rebooted to properly unmount/mount partitions, i think the phone is fine, but the user is another matter..........
i guess i didn't really flash a custom rom until after i upgraded to the Rogers release of JB...? Can't remember... anyhoo, could I simply flash your SL Rogers JB 4.1.2 to obtain the JB radio and then flash SL CM10.2?
Or is there a flashable zip for the radios? I could have sword I saw those some place, but i can't find them now...

thanks for acknowledging/tolerating my stupidity/ignorance, both the 'read this before you post' and '1 stop' threads were helpful.
i did have one more perhaps stupid question that wasn't answer in either of those threads (or at least that I could find), I got SL CM10.2 up and running...bare bones. When checking storage in the settings app, it told me that my total space was 1.97gb and that i had 1.92gb free.... cool. I then rebooted into recovery and flashed gapps lite (12mb) and email/exchange. Rebooted my phone, checked my storage and now i have 432mb free...? This is exactly where i started... i have no apps other than what came with SL CM10.2, gapps lite and email/exchange and only have 432mb available.... any ideas as to what's going on here?
comparatively, i checked my 'apps' in settings, the 'downloaded' tab has nothing, the 'on sd card' tab has nothing, and the 'all' tab indicates that i've used 1.5gb of my internal storage, but when i tally up all the apps in the 'all' tab it totals approximately 40mb... I'm really stuck and it's really starting to frustrate me....

Sounds like you may have been installing the ROM incorrectly. Also one of the first steps of troubleshooting odd issues is a factory reset (Which MUST be done when installing roms of different types) Coming from TW and going to CM like you did requires FULL wipe!!

A response like that is not going to help you get too much help around here. @xcrazydx is correct. It sounds like you need to do some more ready.. especially if you are thinking of messing with partitions.

i did factory wipe before and after flashing each of the roms. As i stated above, the storage glitch occurred after installing gapps and email/exchange... i only wiped cache/dalvik after installing those two. I suppose i should have factory wiped to be safe...
The reason i came asking about repartitioning and .pit files was because i had already searched and found a dev that had created custom partition tables (pit files) but they were for a different phone. I just wondered if anyone in this forum had seen and/or created them.
If not, that's cool, but i figured I'd ask. The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask!
So i soft bricked my device while trying to install the latest 4.0.1 image. I tried hard wiping the device and wipe cache partion from Stock Recovery but didn't help, still wouldn't boot. I tried installing the image in Stock Recovery from Apply Update From External SD Card, but i got a few errors first "E:Failed to map file Operation aborted", i took a look at the file and it had about 1.67gb extra in "Userdata" i tried deleting that file and reinstalling from external sd card but then i got "E:footer is wrong" "E:signature verification failed" Operation Aborted.
Now i'm trying to install update from ADB (Surprisingly if i have the tab connected and im in Apply Update from ADB the tab is recognized in ADB

Try to use fastboot restore everything.
I can't get it to connect to fastboot. When it loads the boot loader and I try to select fastboot protocol it fails.
Wow this thing sucks! I'm really appreciating my Samsung with Odin right now! So I finally got it to connect to fastboot (don't ask me how, I don't know) unlocked the bootloader and flashed twrp. Now it won't flash supersu in adb sideload so I put it on an SD card (which now magically mounts and works now) and flashed the zip in recovery but it says at the very end of the process while trying to update the partitions that it can't mount the data and system partitions so I'm not sure if I'm actually getting root or not and if so if it's permanent I have no way to tell. I think this is because they have been accidentally wiped. Do you think it is safe to try to flash a rom in recovery from external sd card? And if so which one? I have no idea which version bootloader, kernel, or os is or was on this device...
Update: I think I may start a new thread in the Q&A/Help section so that I can try to get a vast concensus. Thanks!

Yes flash a ROM in recovery.
Try Resurrection Remix. It'll resurrect your device
Just tried flashing bliss 6.2 and it won't get past the nvidia screen. It says it flashes successfully but I still get a bunch of "can't mount such and such partition" errors during the flash sequence. Not sure what to do, I can post pics if you guys want.
If you got/can get TWRP on there now, the advanced wipe menu will allow you to check /data for errors. As for /system, wipe it. If you get errors that e2fsck can't fix in your TWRP log, you'll have to put on your data recovery hat on. If it's that important to you, my advice is to adb pull the right file under /dev/block. You won't get a block device, you'll get an exact image of your data partition. Once it's fully pulled (it'll be 10 GB or more on a 16GB device), make a copy of it first thing, and use data recovery tools (testdisk, or if you really know what you're doing, debugfs). If you don't have anything valuable on /data (remember that any backups you took from recovery go in /data/media by default), just format that and be done with it.
Pray that there are no errors after you format everything, because that usually means your NAND is toast.
If your errors are hardware ones, you're royally screwed. Same thing happened to my Nexus 7 2013 model a year ago. Only way to use it is to flash a modified kernel that will use an attached USB drive exclusively as storage. If the NAND is toast inside the boot partiti,try replacing recovery, otherwise, you have to tether boot it (fastboot boot) every time you want to run it, unless you have the guts to try repartitioning the NAND (unlike on PCs, messing up there is an instabrick).
Since the Shield Tablet can use SD cards, you're better off. No USB drive needed.
