Flashtool 0.9.19.10 and Xperia Z5. - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys, bought a Z5 but I'm afraid to update it at FlashTool. Always updated my old Z2 and never had any problem, but new device, you know, do you?
Already deactivated safety signature Win 10 drivers. Already installed PC Companion for Win 10 download the necessary drivers for Z5.
Two Question:
1) It is appearing to me in WIPE: DIAG and SSD. What are these two new options?
2) I did not understand about FSC. Where do I get for the Z5? Is it really necessary or FlashTool is fully compatible with the Z5?
Can I flashing? It will give a problem?

I have flashed my Z5 multiple times with this version of flashtool and the x10flasher.jar patch. Didn't wipe diag or ssd. On the download page it mentions not flashing simlock ta and the default is already set not to flash.

There are new options in Flashtool, but I just leave them alone. I haven't read enough yet to understand what they're on about. I say yes to use the FSC script which is meant for the newer devices. The FSC script file, incidentally, is downloaded internally by Flashtool. You don't need to find it yourself. If you say no, Flashtool will use the old method of flashing, which still works, but seems to rely more on what you've ticked or unticked in the options.
Point to note - From what I understand, you should always leave 'simlock.ta' excluded - you'll see it's ticked by default by Flashtool in it's exclude options. Never force flash it. Bad. As some have found out.

Tks Guys! But what means DIAG and SSD to Wipe?
To erase my phone completely I select APPs and USER LOG DATA only? SSD would be the MicroSD?

Lol. You keep asking that same question and it's ignored every time... Seems to me that no one here knows the answer

Fairly certain diag means the stats for system/app crashes and call time etc. SSD could be SD card. One way to find out.

DIAG is Diagnostics, no clue as to actually what it wipes.
SSD is Solid State Drive, its the entire phone memory including /system, /boot, etc.

If I want to do a full wipe on my Z5, I mark all as we did before (like Z, Z1, Z2) ?

[Q] I used Root uninstaller to remove bloatware, but the apps are still lingering.

I semi-bricked my Optimus One earlier today, but fixed it via KDZ and the India rom fix..
Re-rooted..
and used Root Uninstaller to remove the Bollywood bloatware like I did before..
only this time, all the apps I uninstalled, are still showing in my installed list, but with the "SD card" icon..
they're NOT on the card, I made sure of that..
but idk where to find them in the filesystem..
they're taking up space that I don't really have, y'know.
how would I go about remedying this?
(I'll post a screenshot later, when the site will let me.)

It's possible that your root didn't take or the system partition didn't get remounted RW. System Apps reside in /system/app . User apps reside in /data/app .
The root did take, I confirmed that.
and the files are not in those locations..
heres the screenshot of what one looks like in app list..

I'm at a loss then. I've never experienced the issue you are facing. You rebooted after removing those apps? Are you using some kind of *2SD script?
Yup, I rebooted.
no, I'm not using any scripts or anything..
The only thing I have my phone doing that it "shouldn't" is the root.
am I going to have to re-flash it, and try to remove them again?
Also, the apps in question are not in the list when I go through Root Uninstaller again.
I'm guessing there's something better than RU, but I just don't know what it is yet xD

Possibly as a last resort. Do you have a custom recovery installed? If so, try wiping cache and Dalvik cache and then reboot. The reboot will take a few minutes as Android will need to rebuild the caches.

I can understand that. Did you use ROM Manager to try and install recovery? I've written a tool for Windows that can flash recoveries via fastboot and fastboot mode. If you're interested, it's called Android Flash Recovery and a link to it's thread can be found in my signature.

What version of Android is on your device? 2.2 is Froyo which is old baseband. 2.3 is GingerBread which is new baseband.
Download my tool. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled on the device. Complete instructions are in the download archive. It's up to you tho.
I have used Root Uninstaller for 11/2 years on my Optimus V. The Uninstaller doesn't work that well.
I just use it because it auto saves all downloaded apk's, every version. I have to manually delete any saved versions.
Great when an update to an app is borked, or too slow of a data connection to re-install Titanium Backup after a ROM flash (I go to folder on SD card and move TB apk to root of SD card, then install).
Try using Link2SD
It has worked flawlessly to delete any unwanted pre-installed apps from ROM developers and Google Apps.

fastboot is a little weird. Boot device into fastboot mode, but not connected to PC. Then connect to PC after getting into fastboot mode.
I think I've seen something like that before. I think it's when the APK is gone but the cache, dalvik etc for the app is still there.
If you haven't yet done anything hardcore to your phone. EG: Reflashing.
And can still boot into your ROM then you might wanna give Clean Master a go.
It's here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cleanmaster.mguard&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
It's got a Residual Files cleaner which might get rid of the files that are causing your problems

So, Fastboot before hooking up the phone, gives me a driver searching Windows update for "Android"... I'm guessing that something is missing, yes?

Yeah, the driver from LG.
Go Here.
Scroll down to Manuals & Download, Software Update tab and then "Install the USB DRIVER"
Just get the driver, don't worry about the LG Mobile Support Tool. That's for updating the stock ROM.
Officially but there are no official updates since GB.

[Q] [newby alert] how to backup Miro in case I need to return it for repair?

I watched the video but I've read too many XDA threads and I am still confused.
Also I am sorry for being a noob and asking noob questions...
At work I was "given" a Sony Xperia Miro ST23i running 11.0.A.5.5.
Unfortunately this phone is branded and comes with a lot of bloat that can't be easily uninstalled. Sometimes it is very annoying to be waiting 10 seconds for the "contacts" to appear with all the bloat running in the background.
I've found Gimlo 2.0 here at XDA. Looks like it is the stock firmware without the bloat and with "a couple" of extra features.
But since the phone isn't mine and since electronic devices sometimes have failures and need repair, I need to take precautions and make sure that I can put it back as it was (stock FW) when we bought it. That is, if the malfunction even allows me to boot the phone.
Doesn't seem difficult to follow Gimlo's installation instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37337385&postcount=2.
I noticed that it tells the user to backup. What would I be backing up at this point? Apps and their settings? Contacts? Or does it mean to backup the original/official ROM?
Apps and settings and contacts is easy. I wouldn't mind loosing my SMS messages and Call log although there seems to be apps to backup SMS/Logs. But how do I backup the original ROM?
Then I have to boot into CWM. Well I still haven't installed that because some fellow told me that installing CWM is the first step to loose my warranty. He told me that there is a special "counter" on the phone that increments every time I flash the phone. He told me to ask here if this phone has this counter and how to reset it, if it's even possible to reset it.
Then I happened to stumble into this tool named Backup-TA here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598. It says it backs up something that I will need to restore in case I need to return my phone for repair.
Am I missing anything?
Can someone point me a step-by-step of all the stuff I need to backup in order to install Gimlo?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Before you begin doing anything, you should use pc companion - repair to get the correct firmware that matches your region. Sure, you can use .ftf found here but you said yourself need to backup. Im sure theres also company bootanim / wallpapers / ringtones but you can backup that also. Counters? No, sony do not have counters, samsung do have it.
The order is like this:
Backup all that media (hidden somewhere in /system) yeah, with no root, you can still look around and find stuff. Then, use pc companion - repair. Next, find blob_fs and convert it into .ftf for later use. Then, root, cwm, and go for gimlo.
Anytime you want to go back to stock, use your own .ftf. Dont worry, just dont unlock bootloader. And, pc companion is the official way to repair before sending the phone to sony service.

Actually bro...there is no need to back-up the Rom....if something goes wrong you can repair your phone via pc companion since you have a locked bootloader.
You.said that you already.backed up apps and other user data....now just install the New Rom...if something goes wrong, you can repair your phone via pc companion..... Here is the Guide to create an ftf

After all it seems fairly simple even for a such a big noob like me.
But I still have a small doubt in my mind: don't I have to backup the TA partition so that I can restore it later?
I mean, seems that it is not mandatory in case I just want to flash another ROM.
But reading this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598 seems that like something mandatory in case I really need to put it back exactly as it was when we bought it.
Can anyone clarify please?

Okay, now I only need to know when does backup TA goes in all these instructions.
So, I will need to backup my contacts. I won't backup call log or SMS because I don't need them.
Then I have to root the phone, install CWM, and then follow the procedure to install my new ROM (Gimlo).
My question is "when do I backup TA?". After rooting the phone and before installing CWM? Or after rooting and after installing CWM?
Also I don't really understand any of this

Yeah...that guy is a pro he used those complicated terms....I'll make it clear...
So firstly all that you need to backup is your apps, contacts and all other user data....
Now root the phone and do as you like...
If something wrong happens or you want to remove the installed Rom and revert back to official(Sony's) Rom.....follow these steps
just don't panic..open pc companion>support zone>repair phone....
The pc companion will download the latest OFFICIAL FIRMWARE from Sony....
Do as you are prompted...you will have the phone just like when the phone was when taken out of the box it came in..
The above mentioned step is to be done only with a LOCKED bootloader(I guess you are not planning to unlock it).
About ftf...ftf means flashtool file.as the name tells it is used by androxyde( software for flashing Sony Xperia) flashtool..it is an alternative of the repair option via pc companion..the advantage of flashtool is that it can be used with unlocked bootloader too while pc companion can work only on a locked bootloader..
The link I gave you before explains how you create an ftf and use it....
I dint think you need to backup the system and bootanimation and other stuff...it will be restored by the repairoption....
Now any more doubts bro

Paradox on miro is also ok, just that its old, not updated, but im fine with it. Im not a flash-a-holic, im a gamer, and I dont like lags, especially on HD games. As long as I have vold.fstab, link2sd, and greenify, im fine with paradox for now. Heck, even with these 3 running on stock rom, youll immediately notice the difference.

*** No compatible TA partition found on your device. ***

Press any key to continue . . .
What exactly could this mean?
Does that mean that I can't backup my phone's TA partition and that in such sense I shouldn't risk to install another ROM if I need to put it back later on?
Or does that mean that my phone doesn't even have a TA partition and that I don't need to worry about it?
And a last question: since I am *not* going to touch the bootloader, should I worry about backing up TA? Is "backing up TA" only for guys that need to change the bootloader? Or should everybody do it anyways?
As always, sorry for the n00b questions and TIA.
Cheers
No. You said yourself youre not going to unlock it. Roms for locked will not touch that TA.

Cool. Then I can skip the backup TA part.
I honestly would like to make a full backup of all the partitions in the phone to feel more safe but I guess it would be a waste of time.
Thanks mate.
Just make sure you did backup your own firmware as .ftf for later use.

All this "10 days before you're allowed to post in devel topics" and captcha on every single post or preview-post is probably necessary but *extremely* annoying.

I am trying to install CWM.
Found a topic about Miro st23i that has a link on how to install CWM.
It links here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003069.
But then it says it hasn't been tested on Miro.

[Q] [E C1505] [SOLVED] A bunch of Questions

Hi guys,
i'm somewhat of a noob when it comes to Android devices, so please excuse my stupid questions.
First some facts about my device:
ROOT: Enabled
BOOTLOADER: Locked and not changeable
ROM: Latest available official release
(hope that helps at least a bit)
#1: Is it possible to bypass the bootloader lock via root? If so, how?
#2: If there is no way to bypass the lock, is it possible to modify the rom anyway? Because i want to add the swapon/swapoff functionality to expand the available ram via a swap partition on my external SD card. (already checked via terminal if swapon/swapoff is available)
Thank you in advance for your help. I hope there's a solution to my problem.

You're right - your phone isn't allowed a bootloader unlock.
Without bootloader unlock, you can't change ROMs, but you can install ICS, which is a bit faster than Jelly Bean, even slightly more than CyanogenMod. In fact, even with an unlocked bootloader, I'm using ICS. Here's how: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579233
Now, you said you're a noob when it comes to Android, so here's how to flash an FTF:
This process will remove all installed apps, contacts and settings. Any music, stuff on the internal storage (the one for music etc.) or the microSD will be preserved.
0. Make sure you're on Windows 7 or below. For some reason, this doesn't work with Windows 8 or 8.1, so you'll have to get a 7 PC somehow.
1. Download Androxyde's Flashtool here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746 (use the unrestrict.li link, it's better)
2. Install it. By default, it is installed to C:\Flashtool. Open this folder, and then the "drivers" one. You'll see a driver setup file. Install the Flashtool and Fastboot drivers (in the list, they're on the bottom).
3. Now go back to the Flashtool folder, and open "firmwares". Put your FTF file here.
4. Open Flashtool. Click the lightning icon. Ensure that Flashmode is selected, and press OK. Choose the C1605 11.1.A.0.68 file, and press Flash.
5. When it tells you to, turn off your phone. Plug in the USB cable into your computer. Hold volume down (do not hold the power button), and (point of no return now) plug the phone into the USB cable connected to your phone. The notification light will glow green, and hopefully everything will start flashing. When the Flashtool window tells you to disconnect your phone and turn it on, do so. Set it up, and you're on ICS!
If you want to go back to Jelly Bean, download this FTF: https://www.mediafire.com/?3fmmkbmlqtjd6cy and put it into the "firmwares" folder. Now follow the guide step 4 onward, but select "11.3.A.2.23" for Jelly Bean.
Whew, long post.
So, in principle i downgrade the device to ics with an unlocked bootloader and then can flash a custom rom that is jb based, with all features i need to expand the ram?

No, ICS won't enable you to unlock your bootloader OR install CWM OR install a custom ROM. ICS is faster than any other custom ROM (other than XboosT, which is basically ICS on steroids), so if you can't have custom ROMs, the next best thing is ICS.
Another noob's question:
I installed Xposed a few days ago on my c1505 (stock firmware, locked bl). It worked perfectly. But i've read from another post that if i remove it my phone won't boot. So is there any way to remove it without breaking my device?? Waiting for answers.

But UltraGamerHD is still using his phone (in fact, he's making CM11...), right?
Right now, I uninstalled Xposed, rebooted, installed Xposed, rebooted. Nothing called a brick (although I did lose a cool Xposed mod for a reboot). Well, whatever. Uninstalling doesn't brick.
In fact, the problem in the topic is either:
1. The phone hard-bricking, which is not related to Xposed at all.
OR
2. The phone's battery being discharged to 0%, to the point where the phone cannot turn itself on and start charging.

I did brick it once, I went to the Orange UK store in my local town and he said he used software similar to PC Companion.

[Q] [Correct Forum?]Some Questions About This Phone

I will be getting a Sony Xperia E from Immix (with a SIM Card), and I am wondering if I am in the correct section of the forums. I have a few questions, since I had an HTC One V before, about the current status of this phone:
Has this phone been S-Off'd yet?
If not, is TWRP at least released for this phone?
I think that's it. I'll update with more questions as I get them
Thanks in advance,

S-OFF (unlock bootloader) in Sony terms is can be done by visit http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com and follow the instructions. make sure you test by enter *#*#7378423#*#* on dialer and then, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
dunno if someone already build TWRP for Xperia E, but there is CWM for Xperia E

Sorry, in [HTC One V] terms, S-Off not only requires the bootloader to already be unlocked, but then you can also edit the boot, radio and other partitions that are still locked while the bootloader is unlocked.
And that phone number is very helpful, thanks! I'll have to test it Wednesday, when my phone is supposed to arrive
And about building TWRP, I'll do it. I've built several pieces of software for my previous phone, aaaaand I hope it's the same process LOL

You've had a One V? Cool, there's one in the family, still stock, of course.
I think the radio and stuff can be changed even when the bootloader is locked , using Flashtool to flash the firmwares in flash mode. [citation needed] At least the baseband can be changed easily, probably other stuff too.
TWRP has been built for CM10 (actually it's a dual recovery; both CWM and TWRP) by hsr0. Others have been built too, but since our phones have no recovery image, the recovery has to be built into the kernel, and this is the most stable CM10 kernel, I recommend this one. Not sure if there's a stock TWRP, though.

LOL, no. I've just started my first project, and hardly anybody here knows what it is.
Before unlocking your phone's bootloader, be sure to root it (many guides to root it with a locked bootloader here) and backup the TA partition: this partition has some DRM keys that are removed once you unlock the bootloader. I'm not sure what they do, but you can check whether the DRM keys are there or not, so if you take it to Sony, you can reflash TA, unroot, and they'll honour the warranty.

5.11 is just the update code, it is the latest Android 6.0.1, you can install all regions but default one is much more compatible.
Just download and flash, do not forget to select ALL WIPE options. You have to wipe for downgrade.

You did not follow all steps, if you want to do something you think right, not blame Flashtool or anyone.
FTF should be about 2.6GB-3.0GB..
Clean your PC and do it again..
