DPI Configuration - Sony Xperia M2

Hey! Someone knows how to setup my screen to looks like more big with small Icons, What DPI amount I should change to enjoy my screen? Thanks in advance. BTW I'm using XPERIA Z5 Style Rom on LB.

I suggest to set dpi on 200 but you have to try and pick each you want.
And how to change it ? It pretty simple just download from Google Play, Terminal Emulator and type:
Code:
su
wm density [value] (ex. wm density 200)
Also I add to default dpi is 240 just for know.

Or you can just use an app (DPI Changer, Textdroid, but if use downsize it to =/= 160, 240, etc(xdpi, etc) the launcher may look wierd, and u have to use App Settings to fix this.

I'd like to see this too cause I like to play around, but to me it's low priority cause you can do it via the goo manager app too...
Say what? Goo manager changing dpi?

Yeah, I'd love to see that feature too, editing build.prop manually is a gargantuan effort.
This is something that we are planning to do and is on the list
Most OEMs (and Google) don't seem to manage to use the correct DPI for devices...

Hello @pulser_g2,
Can you, or XplodWild add please also the option on Alarm that dismiss the alarm when the phone is flipped with the display down. This was a feature in CM10.2, see here: http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/29894/.
I will appreciate if you can add this to alarm.
Thank you very much.

For the mean time, Andromizer works for me to change overall dpi setting.
I have not tried Xposed yet on OMNI, but on other ROM's i've used the app-settings module to set dpi per app.

I use Xposed and the app settings module and can confirm it works perfectly for the dpi settings on all apps I've tried. The immersive mode option in the app is still a little buggy, but using force full screen works and gives the same effect.
Use romtoolbox pro. it work for me.

No need for apps. Just edit build.prop.
And Xposed seems to hate ART as of now I'd note for other readers of this thread.

I know at this stage it's just on the to do list but could you elaborate on it. For example. would it just be changing the global DPI, or on a per app basis, or even better have it like Paranoid Android where you can change the DPI of certain things like navigation bar, status bar, lockscreen, phablet UI (No more tabletUI in Kitkat IIRC) etc.

DPI Sony Xperia T2 Ultra UI

Hi guys I played around with the DPI of this phone cuz to my liking the icons are to big and this big screen can estate more space,,
Set the dpi to 338 in the system/build.prop file
Any other values from 321-360 is T2 Ultra UI but under 338 it's to small and above 338 it keep crop the system images like in lockscreen if u play music it will crop the controls and u will be able to see only the picture of the song cover
Any other DPIs
Tablet UI = 160 (small) limited (140-160) chose any value between
Tablet UI = 240 (big) limited (160-240) chose any value between
Phablet UI = 320 (Xperia Z Ultra UI small) limited (241-320) chose any value between
Phablet UI = 360 (Xperia T2 Ultra UI big) limited (321-360) chose any value between
Default UI = 480 limited (361-480) chose any value between
Just wanted to give information that's all cuz I saw many ppl on other threads aswell keep asking abt dpi have fun to change
My favorite is 338 not to small and not to big have more space and numeric row on keyboard aswell

[Q] Anybody tried lower dpi on the Mate8 stock ROM?

Was searching a little but couldn't find an answer to this. I'm interested in this phone, I was able to play with it a little, but really, the dpi is too high for a 6" screen. Would be interesting to know if/how a 400/420dpi works on this device. Thanks!
I was just going to ask the same thing actually. Last night I started messing with it but it's very weird. For one, there are two DPI lines in build.prop, which you seem to have to change both of to get any kind of change. I have them now at 400 with the view mode set to small, and it's too small. But, the weird thing is, anything over 410 is too big. It doesn't change like a normal phone does. I have a feeling the "view mode" changes shell density instead of DPI and causes some weirdness. I may mess around with some shell density commands later today to get it just right. Anyone know what the stock shell density is?

Can you try Neo Density app? I don't know if it works ok with the Mate8, but I used it on phones where changing the dpi was a little problematic.
Yup. I'm at 320 with the small stock settings too

I did, that just changes the typical ro.sf.lcd_density= value. The best I have found is that if you drop that value to 400, the "small" view mode goes to extra small. But changing the value to anything lower than 400 has no effect (I tried as low as 290) and anything over 410 seems to also have no effect on stock.

I guess it's ok with dpi400, should be much better than the stock. How the stock Huawei apps are scaled?

400 is very very small. I have 20/20 vision and love a lower dpi, but I think its too small to use on a daily basis at a typical viewing distance. Especially in the dark. I went back to stock for now.
Mostly everything scales fine, but there are weird issues as if we had used wm shell density to change the density vs build.prop. Some text/icons are cut off by the item below it in the notification panel, and backgrounds dont scale properly when swiping through home screens. Not a huge deal, but just common issues when using wm shell density, even though I didn't.
I'm on 366 dpi. Let the stock dpi setting at large then change the dpi in build.prop. The stock will change automatically after reboot to medium. For the quick toggles add this lines to build.prop : ro.config.toolbox_port_column=3
ro.config.toolbox_port_row=3
ro.config.toolbox_land_column=4
ro.config.toolbox_land_row=2
Only one issue exists, if dpi is to low the notification drop down will show the recycle bin in the middle of the screen, so it will use the half space. If u have some notification u must scroll them

If u change dpi with the stock changer and then in the build.prop, u get a tiny status bar. Stay on large view and then change dpi in build.prop. Wasted some time with testing to find this out

Yeah that's about what I got when I was doing 400 dpi and small view mode. Whats really odd is that, unlike any other phone I have had, if you bump the DPI up by 5 or 10, you don't get the minor increase in size you would expect. It just stays the same until it makes a massive change in size.

The stock changer and build.prop disturb each other. It's a nice feature from Huawei, but poorly implemented

I've edited build.prop directly after installing Rom. Only the ro.lcd.density to 320 and it works like a charm. The display setting changed to small automatically after reboot.

I did 320 but lost one handed mode. Bumped it up to 380, got one hand mode back, and it is the same size on small.

Hello,
Does anyone knows how to disable the transition effect on touchwiz launcher? or how to change it to a 'flat' transition?
Thanks

Enable developer options in settings and under "Drawing" set anything with the word "Animation" to Off. This will disable screen transitions until enabled again. Don't forget to restart the device for the changes to take effect, and leave developer options enabled or the transitions will return by default after the next restart.
Thanks but that's not what I m looking. I was looking for disable only the launcher animations...

Hmmm, wasn't aware you could just do that. Perhaps you could try a third party launcher? Or, you may get some joy with a custom ROM, but as I'm 100% stock I wouldn't know, sorry.

How do I change grid view to list view for apps?

Hello everyone,
since Saturday I got a new Xperia Z5 after using my beloved Galaxy S2 for 4 (or 5?) years.
Honestly, I didn't want a new phone, but it was just too slow and finally didn't function any more.
So now I am personalizing my new Phone, but am really disturbed by the app menu.
Apps on different pages, where I have to scroll and look for an app? What is this? 2010?
I am so used to the list view on TouchWiz and Cyanogenmod.
How do I get that onto my Xperia Z5 Phone?
Here are some screenshots for clarification. (sorry I can't post links yet)
I have this: googledrive.com/host/0B71qahVEwjt5X1RPY2pSVmdPWmc/gridview
(currently using Google Now Launcher, which is at least closer to what I want)
I want this: androidbeat.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/CM13-app-drawer.png
Or what would even be better, but I guess not possible, this: cdn.cultofandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/applistview.jpg
I hope you know what I mean and can help me.
BR,
Rastla
quite easy to do with another launcher. You can do it with nova launcher how you want it.
And wth!? Nothing easier than a Sony ui menu. Almost complete stock Android. You should even have a quick search bar on top, you can move your apps in the app draw where you want them to be etc.
It's all a little more overviewed compared to Samsung, that's one reason I love sony's ui so much

stock sony ui doesn't have a search bar at top (only the google now launcher).
its just that old grid view i know from early android days. i would even go so far, to compare it to windows 98.
it's impractical and definitively not good overviewed imho.
what can be more practical than a simple A-Z list?
