Wizard turns on without any reason

Hello,
I have Wizard + WM6 (faria) and recently I noticed that my PDA turns on without any good reason. Previously the display turned on when I received SMS or when there was an incoming call. Needless to say it drives me crazy!!!
Is there any way to investigate the issue (find a reason for this strange behavior)? Pls help.
P.S. Locking the device is not a solution.

i noticed that before and solved but i cant remember where is the problem exactly.
i think there is something with the connections or something like that
if it happened every short-time try to turn on flight mode, then check if it gone will be sure it is something with connection/phone

Hmmm but my rom is 5.2.318 (build 15341.4.0.01)
I tracked that down as being a problem with radio signal strength. Every time the radio signal strength changed it would wake up the phone. That was annoying, but I never found a fix for it since I upgraded to a different to a different ROM that doesn't have that problem. It may have been a problem caused by BatteryStatus's signal strength monitor though rather than the ROM's because it didn't start until I installed BS if I remeber right.
just lock the phone
before put the wizard in sleep mode. then it doesn't wake up when you dont neeD it

don't use a windows mobile password in WM6 (start -> settings -> lock). for mee it makes the phone wake up often. if I remove the password it doesnt wake up automaticly any more
hmm
maybe theres a ghost inside your wizard loll
I had a ghost in my wizard once, had it exorcised, and then it moved into my car. Now my car starts on its own!
Indeed I have a password. Furthermore I noticed that at the outset (WM6 + all software I'm using) the problem didn't exist at all. I think that it started after hard reset + system restore (spb backup).
I did some hard reset, but unfortunately the problem still exist (at least I think so, but today I will check it more thoroughly) HELP!
Here's what I would do if I wanted to keep my current rom - assuming it didn't have this behavior before (I've been known to be excessive at times ):
Back up your phone with something like PIM Backup or whatever you prefer - don't forget your themes, pictures, whatever.
Do a hard-reset.
Test for this symptom before installing any applications.
If the symptoms exist, try a different radio, if not, install BatteryStatus and test again.
Continue until you find the culprit.
Might take a while, but you should be able to find the issue...

I don't need to know the reason - I just need a solution?
BTW which one is the best WM6 ROM for wizard now?
The problem lies on having a both a password set and backlight settings on. Either remove the password or turn off the "turn off backlight if device unused for..." setting. It solved the problem for me!
You're right, but unfortunately I need the password :/
This weekend I switched to NBD 7.2 and the problem still exist.

If you need a password, then you'll have to go back to WM5. If you just want a password because you want to protect some files, then you should look into encrypting those files.
I hope that there is some way/there will be some rom to support device lock for Wizard's WM6
some WM6 roms seem to work with password.
I am still on a 'old' rom Wizard Reloaded 1.5 and there I can enable the password without waking up problems.
Just try with any rom, if it wakes up, remove the password. I suppose that's not such a big problem for most of us...you can still use Mobile Justice
I hope someone will find the exact cause (regkey probably) of this waking up problem, so any further roms wont have the problem anymore...

Are you sure you have performed a HARD reset. A hard reset means that your device is in the same state as when you first took it out of the box.
If then the WIFI fails to switch on, you probably have a hardware problem and should send the device for repairs.
I have had a problem with the WIFI function as well. In my case it was caused by a program which allows the Cruise to act as a WIFI access point. After using that software once, the WIFI cannot be switched on any more. I have had the same problem on my "standard" Touch.

hi mate,

In my case the hard reset resolved the issue both on my original touch and on my touch cruise. The latter needs to go back for repairs now anyway because the speaker has decided not to function anymore.

I'm having a similar problem on my Cruise. My WiFi is switching on in the Comm Mgr. I see the icon working for a couple of seconds then it seems to freeze. I try to sign in on Skype or access an Internet site with no success. Strange. It was working a couple of days ago.
Am at the moment using a Laptop via a WiFi connection, so it's not a general WiFi connection problem.
Appreciate some advice.
Hi
Just a quick extra comment to my question above. Would a Hard Reset really help? Or is this just an option to find a solution?
hi i called htc and returned the device for repair i will update on the progress

Wi-Fi turning off when screen is off CM9

This problem has been happening with any ROM I have, it has only started to happen recently, my Wi-Fi used to work flawlessley untill I changed ROM's, updated it's firmware etc etc. Would anyone know of a possible fix to fix this issue? Because it's really bugging me! I have Wi-Fi set to never sleep, and always be on... What am I doing wrong?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
Regards,
Dave.
Hi Dave,
Don't expect much from my solution since I am still a noob but this once happened to my device and I installed WiFi Lock from Google Play and enable it. It fixed the issue for me. Hope it will also fix yours.

Thanks for your reply! I've tried what you suggested and sadly didn't work, I did find an app that forces high performance on my phone and that seems to fix the problem though I don't want my phone running Wi-Fi at max power... What happens with the app you suggested, it keeps the Wi-Fi signal, but transferring stops... Weird huh... With the High Performance Widget this doesn't happen. With sense based ROMs the Wi-Fi is working perfectly though.
Dave.
Just a little bump
Settings
Hi,
Check your WiFi policy in Settings, there's an option for this.

First open wifi, if you are not connected to any wifi then it'll be greyed out.
If not, try applying a new theme as they affect the colour of the toggles.
Please post screen shots as this way i might be able to spot the errors
and if you have warranty call up sony
Hope i helped

No Wifi on PX5 unit, no valid MAC address

Hi all,
I have a very strange issue, after modifing my Wifi antenna on a Witson unit I made an error by picking the wrong antenna to solder (bluetooth instead ofg Wifi.
The bluetooth antenne was just a wire with no ground and I made the mistake of grounding the replacement cable.
Result dead Wifi and bluetooth, no way that either were possible to activate in the menus.
So I reached out to the vendor and asked if they could send me a replacement board.
After receiving this I modifed the right antenna, however stil no Wifi with the new board.
Strangely the MAC address is not a valid one, it shows 02:00:00:00:00:00 and says IP address - not available.
Now I tried a rooted ROM to gain more access to the unit and deleted the files under data/misc/wifi and rebooted, no luck.
Used the app -Device ID Changer Pro- to change the MAC address but after a reboot it goes back to the original one.
What is going on?
Normally speaking I would suspect by changing the motherboard it would have resolved the issue.
Changing a Wifi antenna would not cause the MAC address to behave in such a way.
So any sugestions how to resolve this are apreciated because I'm running out of ideas, even the vendor doesn't know what is wrong with this.
Thanks

I have in the past seen a mac address all (or mostly) zeros. The problem went away in my case. Obvious question but have you tried a factory or network settings reset?
Hi xdamember2,
Yes, tried them all, did a factory reset, first in the original ROM a factory reset, then installed Malaysk's ROM on it to gain root access.
Did in the recovery after loading the ROM a factory and data wipe before trying the rest.
No luck and that point, then tried a few times Device ID Changer because of the root functionality within Malaysk's ROM but no luck either.
Tried the network reset before and after that, also nothing.

Well, sorry but I don't have any more suggestions. My wifi works ok but requires occasional manual intervention on the hotspot. It's a completely different problem and not as serious.
same problem for me.. no wifi... removed the px5 and returned to the old px3 and all working fine
