Edit : This post was about Coby Kyros 8024 , but recently Kernel Dev. NamKo over at slatedroid has pushed an alpha kernel that is for herotab c8 but happens to work slighty on Coby Kyros 1024.Using official source from urbetter..The kernel is not perfect but it allows us to use CM9 and ICS 4.04 on this tablet. There are many things not working but hoping to attract people with more knowledge to help out

mid8024 firmware
did anyone actually use this. my mid1024 was semi-bricked, so i decided to try this. the manual also specified 1024, so what the hell.
The process was pretty smooth, but upon boot the screen (logo) was all messed up, it made it to the desktop and all i could make out was the time.
tried several times, zipped, unzippped. it accepted the procedure, but for the worst.
pretty bad. device will be going back to where it came from anyhow.

I hope you got your deviced fixed, but the 8024 and 1024 are different The 1024 is capacitive screen while 8024 and 7024 have resistive screen.. Coby has released firmwares for the 7024,8024 and 1024. Also the update only fix devices which were soft bricked and had white screen of death...They do not update the android os

Kyros 8024 update
To whom it may concern... I have a tablet that looks exactly like the 8024 Kyros. The specs are the same, it's branded as Allview Here is a Gingerbread update. It's in Romanian. use Google translate
It says there don't use an microSD bigger than 1 Gb. Don't. I did and it bricked it. Luckly the service is like 3 miles away and they fixed it.

Friend I leave the gingerbread version for 8024 Kyros me based on the Romanian tablet "Tablet AllDro2" which is exactly equal to the Kyros 8024. - Official Firmware
This will only change CFW languages are by default (Romanian to English) , Build.prop, the wallpapers and logo.bmp.
Works 100% points.

Mine came with 2.2. From what I read initially Coby 8024 was Froyo too. I assumed that someone else might be interested.

Disclaimer. This is not my work. This is CM-9 ported by SMDKV210 with NAMKO's Kernel(4/22/2012)
Flash this at your own risk. I take NO Responsibility for Bricking Your Device.
This rom is a work in progress. There are numerous things not working, because the kernel is not directly made for Coby Tablets.
This thread is to post your findings and possibly to help get a Kernel thats made for our tablets.
To flash this rom. Prepare a clean fat 32 formatted sdcard. This will format your internal Sdcard and erase your tablet contents.
Press and hold Home center button and Power Button, simultaneously, release when you see mid upgrade in progress. Do not press any buttons or attempt to power off your tablet. Let it up grade your software and it will shutdown when its done.
TESTED ON 1024N board Not sure if this will work on any other device. This kernel did not boot on my 8024 but I haven't tried with the new OS.
On first boot (well every boot) Kernel panics right away(The black penguin) and sometimes the display is snowy or has a faded effect. Just wait and the bootanimation will start. After tablet boots up There you are CM-9 on Coby Kyros 1024.
I suggest you restart tablet after first boot. I am just an end user like most of you I will help in any way possible. I am not a developer I made this so that others would be able to see and help with the development.
Home button works. Soft buttons do not work and I haven't figured out how to kill the lights

Youtube
Aldiko Reader
Google Play(untested)

twitter
Nova Launcher

1024 board
nothing new except Namkos kernel on 5/2/2012. Built with thunderstorm beta 10 installer....
cm9 is the SMDKV210 version
4.04 is Namko with tuens tweaks to get wifi to connect manually...extsd is still not mounting and the usual non working items.....
Some apps are tweaked and the build.prop may need to be edited....I believe youtube vids are using hq in the 4.04 build added lastest aldiko reader to 4.04

Performance is fine
USB
Camera
Axis Rotation
Wifi Connection
HDMI ?
The kernel is made for a different device so things written on the kernel level are not communicated to the os.
You have to enter your wifi settigs manually to connect, turning off wifi shuts tablet down. Camera does not work but someone found sources so kernel dev maybe able to incorporate them soon.
I get over 10 hours of battery without use maybe 6 hours when I am using but there are no tweaks added other than reducing wifi scan in the build prop.
Vernox701 hello, is there any other site that I can follow the development step by step ROM compatible with Kyros 1024?
Do you have any prediction for a new release?
thank you

Where is the file? please update me.. thanks a lot..

Hello guys, so I have a chinese MTK6577 phone that isn't very known and I bricked it but I don't have the firmware for. I managed to find two firmwares for similar phones, and the first one has everything working except the WIFI/Bluetooth/FM/GPS chip (MT6620) and the second has everything working except the camera.
What I want to do is basically make the camera work on the second rom by porting the driver from the first one to the second. On the first time, when I enter the camera app, it says "Could not connect to camera" so, I took 4 files from the first rom and put them on the second one, the files are:
/system/lib/libcamera_client.so
/system/lib/libcameracustom.so
/system/lib/libcameraprofile.so
/system/lib/libcameraservice.so
Now, the front camera is working well but I don't see the swich button to test the back camera (android doesn't seem to detect it). So do you guys know what other files should I copy? Thanks.
Hi there,
I have a little bit trouble to follow all infos in CM11 Experimental in "Galaxy S Relay 4G Android Development".
Maybe someone is gracious and help me out.
I was running CM10.2 (20131128) with CWM 6.0.3.5.
So I downloaded cm-11-20131208-NIGHTLY-apexqtmo.zip from cyanogenmod; installed the actual apexq_recovery-10.2.img, which I installed over Heimdall (Debian).
After that I booted the phone into CWM 6.0.3.7; wiped /cache; installed cm-11-20131208-NIGHTLY-apexqtmo.zip; installed gapps-kk-20131119.zip; rebooted to recovery and rebooted the phone. (like Nocturin nearly did it)
After that the phone did 2-3 reboots by its own and then everything was up. First impression of my GoLauncher was that some widgets have problems to load - I don't see that as a problem.
My biggest problem for now is that WLAN isn't working anymore. The button is kind of greyed out and not really working.
Maybe I jumped a little bit too high and dirty from my CM10.2 to CM11.
Android Version: 4.4.1
Baseband-Version: T699UVBMC5
Kernel-Version: 3.4.71-cyanogenmod-...
CPU: ARMv7 Processor rev 4 (v7l)
CyanogenMod version: 11-20131208-NIGHTLY-apexqtmo
So what did I missed to do? I appreciate any help to get my WIFI back to work.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: I tried the cm-11-20131203-EXPERIMENTAL-mmmmm....chocolate_selinuxon-apexqtmo-45.zip now.
Android version changed to 4.4 but Wifi is working again!
I don't know what are the differences between the releases from the CM11-Experimental thread and the official nighlies.
And there are some little things which are noticeable in my normal use and still not fixed but at this stage of an kitkat release I have to bow myself to the developers Great work guys!
I'm not sure if it's clever to switch from this version to the upcoming nighly 20131210.... maybe I give it a try - and fail?!
I'm still interested in an aswer of my question about missing something with that wifi problem under the nighly version (20131208).
Hi
I am in a dilemma guys.... my nexus 5 is fully updated to 4.4.2 and i got it from the retailer already updated to 4.4.2.
Now, the problem is that any apk e.g. youtube, maps etc. that require my location aint functioning at all.
YOUTUBE CANT EVEN SIGN ME IN DAMN IT!!!.....
Also when i click any clip to watch, it just keeps on loading for ever and never plays JACK!!!
I am so frustrated & i am sure others have the same problem.
Btw, i am right now, located in kuwait wich is a country in the middle east (for those who would like to know).
LTE is fully functional, supported & working just fine because i have the international variant.
On a side note: i rooted my device and installed cwm but the problem persisted from the initial device boot up.
Questions:
A: Could someone help me pls??
B: Would downgrading my 4.4.2 to 4.4 or flashing a custom rom fix the issue??
fixed the problem with cm11 but google now not working

hey guys i managed to fix the problem by flashing cm11 but i cant get the google now to work with my voice..... is there something i can do to fix this ? my cm version is based on 4.4... should i wait for the stable 4.4.2 version?
Is google supported or allowed in your country? If location is disabled then you wont get those things.
My problem is after installation of 4.2 rom i lost my radio, but only in kitkat. The original kitkat tmobile rom seems to fix that, but then again any other rom is with broken radio. CM11 is ok, but if im not wrong the cm radio is being written on different partition, than the kitkats one.Tried KK_baseband_801.zip and LG801_20A_RADIO.zip.Neither of them fixes the issue.A can live with CM11 but i am really sorry i cant have access to the UHD camera. So i guess you guys are going to tell me to downgrade .Probably that will fix it but i`ve to install Windows 7 again so im not in a hurry.I can try it in virtual box but didn't had success before that and had to temporarily install windows.Ultimately id like to interchange betwen cm11 and lightning v2 rom with the slow motion camera and the other extras. Its just too much bloatware with the tmobile version plus its checking to see if you have tethering plan, which is incompatible with unlimited data.
Thanks
Installed stock after all, since the baseband issue still exist if put something else, but i used smileys ROM then installed "autorec xda" which is capable off flashing twrp in case you need CM.The UHD cam is cool to play with , although i wish to be possible to manual focusing during video recording instead this useless thing to take a picture. What do you think.

I agree on your comment. This should have been considered before the device got manufactured..
