...xda-developers ->General discussion ->Questions and Answers ->windows 10 is better than android???? by kiranchaitanya
Each time I compose a comment and select the "Add Comment" button, I'm confronted with an error:
The page at 'http://forum.xda-developers.com' says:
The string you entered for the image verification did not match what was displayed.
There was no Captcha or other image verification presented in the page, so perhaps I need to enable pop-ups? Waaaaa...hmmm?
I've tried several times, but the error persists. I'm using the Dolphin browser app on my Galaxy Tab S w/"user agent" set to 'desktop'.
I'm an old-school software professional, and have been reading this board for about 4 years. I'm currently experimenting with a particular unofficial XDA CyanogenMod ROM on my opo, but I can't fully participate in the discussion until I achieve post count Nirvana (currently at 3). I'm not one to post pointlessly, but the official newby hazing rites have left me no choice but to search for off topic threads to add my $0.02.
Maybe I'll be able to post in the subject discussion from my laptop? Any help?

Greetings.
Thank you for using XDA Assist. I suppose you were trying to post an image or link before you had reached 10 posts in your post count. As a new member your posting privileges are restricted until you reach 10 posts and your permissions are reset. I see you have surpassed the post limit now. Are you still having problems?

EDIT: app thread linked in following post
The thread is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841646
(Not an android user so I can't answer your questions)
Thanks

I tried searching for 'XDA app,' but I guess thats too frequently used to find a thread dedicated to the app, so I thought I would start one in order to address certain issues with the XDA app.
Here are some complaints I have with the app:
1. It won't save my favorite threads. If I navigate to the thread, the menu tells me it is a favorite, yet the thread doesn't show up in my favorites tab.
2. Kind of minor, but I think adding a 'search this thread' option would be nice a well.
Can anyone else confirm these issues?

1. It will show in the favorite tab if you refresh the app. But I personnally prefer to mark it with the star so it is immediately displayed in my favorite threads.
2. I agree. The search function isn't very useful on the application as you get results from all the forum threads which makes it hard to find posts related to your question.
I'm trying to post an answer to someones question in the MIUI development forum, but because i don't have 10 posts I am not allowed.
Question: Is any body else having problem with the GPS and the Market place not downloading anything on 3g.
Answer: Open the Downloads app, then hit menu and select Download over mobile network. If that option is already selected, change it to WIFI, save, then change it back to mobile network.
*sigh* 1 post down, 9 more to go before I can be helpful.
Isnt it annoying lol. well thanks for this now i can finally post my rom in the dev section. good luck
at least I helped someone today!
by the way, my source for the info posted above is the official MIUI forum. I'd post the link...but I'm too new to do that, either.
is it necessary to have 10 posts
it's necessary to have 10 posts to post in the development threads. Until then you can only post in the General and Q & A sections.
My presumption is that it's intended to prevent the Dev threads from getting flooded with people swooping in from Google and dropping a bunch of repetitive questions. Makes sense, it's just inconvenient for me because I have an actual answer!
The thread doesn't make much sense to me. Closed.
I always thought the foums here at XDA were little counter-intuitive at times as far as navigation, but it never really mattered that much.... However, now I am stuck and cannot seem to do something rather simple... I dunno maybe I am tired.... but I thought I would ask so this doesn't become an obstacle.
I am trying to find all of my posts in this forum (HTC One-S). I didn't see an option, so I went to one of the sub-forums (like this one: One S General). Under advanced search, I entered my username in the correct place ("Find posts by..."). The result is 40 or so threads...but each thread has anywhere from 8 to 95 pages. I appreciate the helpful information to the left of each thread stating "you have X posts in this thread".... but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to bring up those posts.
[Also, I now see the widget icon next to Search All Forums on the Main Forum page... maybe I can search individual forums though that.]
But can someone tell me how to do a search which results in a page of only my posts????
Thanks in advance...!
On the advanced search page there is an option that lets you "show results as posts". It will show individual posts instead of threads.
Edit: nevermind they seem to have drastically simplified the advanced search and removed a lot of options. Try going to your profile page and the "Statistics" tab, then click "find all posts by syntropic".
Scroll to the top of the XDA Website where it says Welcome, "_______" <------ your name. Click on your name. Your profile should come up in the "About me" part of your profile. Scroll down toward the middle park of your profile and click on "Statistics". There should be a list that comes up. Click on "Find all posts by ______" (Your name)..
Thread Closed
This is not the place to ask this! Just use the statistics tab in your profile, it will show you all of your posts with a marker on which forum they were posted. You could of even PMed one of the moderation team, we are here to help.
I just got a Nexus 5, so i will use this link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5#romList
When you look at the list, you have to search through all the list to identify what rom has been updated lately. Why can't we have that option. Most forums has this option by default, and on a site with such crucial information, i wonder how is this not there.
Or am i missing anything? :/
I am sure, i am in the wrong, and maybe i have overlooked something. ANNND maybe my post will be moved to a different section of the forum. It happens a lot. :/

You didn't mention which tool you used to access the page to which you are referring, but with a traditional web browser, you should be able to click on the "Last Updated" column header to force sorting by date. Clicking again on that same header will toggle between ascending and descending sort.
The same approach is available for "Name", "Device", "Contributors", "Review Average", and "Followers" to select the sort criterion, as it is for all similar tables on XDA.
I hope this answers your question. If you need more information feel free to search the site.

@SebLemery:
This thread has been re-opened based on the additional information you shared via PM. If you do not even see the up and down arrows in the table headers, please try other browsers and especially other themes. Specifically, if you're currently under XDA 2015, temporarily switch to XDA 2013 or XDA 2013-1024 and if the arrows magically appear, report the problem in the http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/about-xda/official-xda-2015-forum-template-bugs-t2887442 thread.
Why can I not sort list of threads chronologically by post/edit date? Shouldn't logic dictate this as a default sort arrangement? This has perplexed me from day one.
You get a device and want the latest developement, but there's no direct way to do so. Noobs are the default moderators of a software engineering forum, and after all these years I'm still astounded.

No problem with the default sort of posts within the thread, they're sorted chronologically. If only the thread lists had the same option (by date of the first post being the thread starter); because the last one to post is typically someone who hasn't searched the thread, yet is now at the top of the thread list. So obsolete threads and bad attempts at development and/or thread support get rewarded with lots of posts asking for help, sorting those threads to the top of the list.
The bottome line is to be able to study the progressive development of a device from square one in order to get up to speed and contribute, or jump to the cutting edge of it's open source development. There's currently no straightfoward mechanism to do either with the sorting system in place. It's hobbled, confusing/frustrating, due to being contrary to logical discovery modes.

This forum is designed to show the threads with the most recent posts at the top of the list. Threads with older posts are listed last.
It is done this way to keep the most active threads at the top, this keeps members from having to sort through all the threads looking for relevant threads that are still actively being posted in, this keeps everything current instead of throwing up a bunch of old stuff that most people aren't even looking for.
