TWRP - Your device is . - cannot flash rom - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, first of all sorry for my bad english, its not my mothers language.
I unlocked my bootloader of my Nvidia Shield LTE version and installed TWRP. After that, i run the recovery mode, wiped everything (no OS) and tried to install new ROM. But during this, the console told me, that the .zip is for device shieldtablet and my device is . <---- yeah, no name given.
So i guess twrp cannot notice that this is a shield, and therefore i cannot install another rom and another OS. Now i cannot do anything..
Any ideas?
Hope you can help. Have a nice weekend
Tim

Okay first of all, thanks a lot. Because of you i started searching for those key words you wrote. And i find a solution.
Found another solution, but yours works fine too
For everyone else having this problem:
Go into your .zip with winrar (or something else), go to META-INF/com/google/android and extract the updater-script.
Open it with notepad++ and delete every line with "getpro(xyz)" and insert it again into your .zip
There you go, it works.
Thx alot )

The process is exactly the same since you are already on stock JB. Just follow the guide and if you get stuck just ask.

Nice! I'm glad it worked for you. Enjoy your new tablet!
I want to root using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845377
"Extract the recovery with fastboot files zip and open a command prompt in the same folder of the adb and fastboot files (Shift + Right mouse)"
if i press Shift + right mouse in the folder I don't get a command prompt. Do I need to select both files and the run as administrator? I don't get the command promt option.
I am running Windows 8
EDIT: Shift key don't do anything..
Can you please share your stock build.prop file? Important for me

When you have your fastboot folder open press shift and then right click. One of the options in the menu should be "open command window here". That should do it unless Windows 8 has changed this.

TF300T UK Model Build 10.4.2.18
I apologise if help is on another thread which I could not find.
I cannot find on any other forum a hard and fast answer.
My TF300T is a UK model.
It has arrived with Build 10.4.2.18 already installed.
I want to root it and install a custom ROM. Like many others I want to remover some of the pre-installed apps such as Chrome.
I've rooted 4 HTC phones with no problem but I just cannot find a hard and fast post with instructions to rid this 10.4.2.18 of its factory installed ROM.
I have unlocked the device using the ASUS website.
I appreciate your feedback.
Regards
easy
just dl this file
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/tf300t/openrecovery-twrp-2.2.2.0-tf300t-JB.blob
TWRP Recovery for JB Bootloader. Its an older Versions which runs without any problems. The 2.3 or CWM are giving many problems to many User, so i recommend the 2.2
Take a look here
http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2/97
on how to installe via adb or fastboot.
After that you can just go into TWRP recovery with turning on while Power and Vol- pressed at the same time
Than switch to RCK with Vol- and choose it with Vol+.
Once in Recovery you can install all JB Bootloader compatible Roms like you are used to

Thanks So far the performance is just so much better (especially surfing using Chrome and playing games), but performance mode can make my tablet crash (i installed the Infinitys 1.8Ghz kernel so normal i guess?), especially when doing heavy stuff like benchmarking.

ADB Sideload problems

hello everybody,
i need help really bad i wanted to install a ROM other than my stock one.. so I unlocked my asus transformer infinity tf700t, then i installed clockmodwork, then i booted into it, installed my ROM and it gave me an error.. saying that .com.google.apps cannot load or something like this... so .. I wiped again everything, and tried to install it.. but before i did.. i somehow formatted my external sd card and wiped the rom that i was using to install. So to make a long story short... i tried using adb sideload but it didn't recognize my device... screenshot attached
so the question is what to i do for my ROM again to be pushed back to my device ? I think i am doomed please help i am trying this all day now

With the tablet in cwm connect and look in device manager. You need to find the driver for the android device that now has a question mark next to it.. I used the infinity root driver set found on xda.

The other things I'm noticing are...
1. You are in sideload mode when trying to push the rom.
2. There is a space between the filename and .zip (this is ok if that is the actual name of the file, can you copy and paste the filename or a screenshot of the file?)
When you push the file you should be on the main recovery screen not sideload.
Paging @Heisenberg you know more about Bacon then I do ...am I even in the ballpark with my advice?
Your best option is probably to just use fastboot to flash the stock images to your phone, have a look at section 8 of my guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2839471
@BD619, your advice is good! I personally just prefer to use the stock images over using sideload.

Can all of this be done on a Mac using these folders? Where there is an .exe file in a folder, is there a Mac equivalent?
You can still use adb and fastboot on a Mac. Just Google search for a guide on how to install it on a Mac.

First, you posted in the wrong section! This section is for development projects.
Also, have you installed a different version of CM12s? The zip is not flashing because it sees a modification to the firmware you're running, or it's a bad download .

Here try this, flash cyangen's recovery and try updating again. I don't know if that will do anything but it's worth a try!
It was told a zillion times. Either cyanogen recovery or download the full rom update instead of the delta OTA (full can be flashed via TWRP).
Look around the oneplus forums, I had the same problem. I managed to find the file and flash it with twrp without having to do the whole rom. The battery got better along with touch screen fixes

Same Steps, different Files like You can imagine. I made two Folders on Google Drive to keep them seperated.
I was wondering if we can use the TWRP Installer Zips from like for example the Pixel 2 XL which is almost the same as what we flash actually. Our TWRP is actually from a One Plus 2 or so, while using an old Lazy Flasher with old Magisk Boot File. While the newer TWRP Installers are using a Magisk kind of Installer to do the Ramdisk changes. Only thing i wonder is if the included ramdisk cpio is Device specific or a general thing which shares between different devices!? I'm really about to just try a flash on risk but i would like to here if You know that...
@MartinX3 can hopefully look at this
The ramdisk also contains device specific files
I put the twrp 1/5 on my to-do list

We found together @Pandemic just asked @MartinX3 some Hours ago if he can invite us to the Xperia TWRP Family on his XZ2 Thread, and You mentition him over to this Thread. Funny
It's really no fun actually to recover my Xperia after Bootloops with Fastboot instead of TWRP. Really throw my Hat in the air once we get a working Recovery. If i can help in any way, let Me know Martin!

Please try : "fastboot flash boot_a ..." instead of just "fastboot flash boot ..." and repeat with "fastboot flash boot_b ...". This will flash the Recovery to both booth Slots. after that do "fastboot -w" which will format Your Device. Reboot into the Recovery and repeat Step 18 if possible. Would be nice to hear from You again!
Edit: You need to pass Step 18 to use Your Storage. After flashing the Zips will Your System start to work normally again. (Touch and everything else)
