I tried to make a call yesterday on Skype, but the video quality that my friend was receiving was terrible.
Is there any adjustment that can be done to make it better quality?

Same on my gf's Tab 10.1, the video call is terrible and looks like it is being shot on a 10 year old mobile phone. Apparently this problem began with the latest update in April, before that video was great. Why it has not been addressed yet I do not know but I have found several people on forums talking about it.
Video Skype on my Galaxy S2 phone is still as great as can be so it would appear that this affects Tab users only.
Unfortunately, you and my gf will have to wait for the next Skype update and hope this is address.
Oh, I see.
That problem is from the skype itself and not the camera from the tab then?
I'll give a try on my S3 and see how it goes!
Thanks for the reply!

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply, this problem is on my gf's Tab so I've not spent much time trying to sort it out!!
Yes, the camera on the Galaxy Tab is much better than the video quality that Skype now uses. If you look at the stats on a video call when using High Quality video setting then it says the res is 240x320. If you then change the setting to Low Quality and check it then it is the same; 240x320, so it looks like they either took out the high quality option or it is glitched.
Seeing as there hasn't been an update for a while, what I've done is rolled back the Skype version to 2.6.0.95 and it has High quality video again. When I selected the Low Quality option it is the same quality used for both options in the current Skype version.
Not an ideal fix but it will work until Skype address it themselves, however there are several huge faults with Skype on Android that have not been acknowledged and fixed by them in over a year (such as video calls not working from Android to any Mac).
Sorry I cannot post a link to the Skype version, google it and you will find it on some forums. Uninstall your current version of Skype. Copy this version to your Tab memory card. Download Astro File Manager from Google Play store and install the .apk file with that.
You may now hit that Thank You button!

this method works. thanks
Good news is that call recording also works for those who don't have root yet. I was looking around if any of the apps work and it turned out CallRecorder by skvalex with standard API settings works just fine ! It detects Samsung Galaxy S6 and sets up everything. Install the app and you will have call recording functionality without root. Very nice feature! The voice quality is very good. I also think that Call Recorder - ACR should work as well, but I didn't check it. Here are the links to the apps at Google Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skvalex.callrecorder
You can get the trial version of CallRecorder by skvalex directly from XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441643
You can also try Call Recorder - ACR, it should work as well, although I played with it some time ago with other phone and the app seems to be more heavy and less reliable: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nll.acr
Another option is Google Voice. It will allow call recording along with its slew of other features.
I used to have a Gear 2 which used a program called Gearam for music detection. I was wondering if there is anything available for the S2 to detect songs like Shazam does? I can currently do it on my Huawei watch and am thinking of getting an S2 but not having this would be a deal breaker. I appreciate any feedback on this.
havent heard anything like that .. but sounds great ...
I think everyone should tweet and message on all social networks to app developers so they see that many of us want support for this watch .. for example I already tweeted to Waze .. will see what they will replay
consider to use Music Player S2
I use movie maker app made by samsung on every samsung phone i had, I wanted to instaled on samsung galaxy S9+, and i don't find it any more in samsung galaxy apps, samsung want to remove the app definetly on android P.
After a few search i find the app on apkmiror, downloaded and instaled the last version 2.3.03.10, and it works fine.
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/samsung-video-editor-movie-maker/
I write to samsung to bring it back, i think is the best free video editor.
The app itself will still exist, which is only integrated in Samsung Video App and is then no longer Movie Maker :highfive:
Yes exist, editing video, but you can just cut the video
Has anyone found a way of retaining original quality with this app?
To give an example, I recorded a 3 second 1080P video and it had a bit rate of 22000kps. I then rotated it in Movie maker saving it has 1080P.
The bit rate was reduced to only 17000kps. :crying:
Its annoying on Android that everyone things all we want to do it share our captures on social media.
I find it very useful, I think Samsung will soon bring it back
Hi folks
I used to have the Galaxy Watch and I've upgraded to the Galaxy Watch 4 and it's quite disappointing that Bixby can't play songs from Spotify even for premium subscribers and even when it is paired to my Samsung phone. I've so far sideloaded and used the modified Spotify apk which allows me to search and stream but it also doesn't work it Bixby. I have even sideloaded Google Asistant but after it says it will play the song it always says there was a problem as it doesn't seem to work with native watch or phone apps. Is there any workaround for this function either in Spotify or any other music streaming service such as YouTube Music? If not is anyone currently working on it?
Thanks all
Yeah the Android ecosystem is so broken. I can't imagine apple releasing a watch without such basic functions.
Surely someone will find a way to make galaxy watch 4 bixby work with Spotify
Ok
