Meme dancing animation from the anime short Me!Me!Me!
If you've never seen it, it's a must watch, but probably for 18+.
The Bootanimation is from some of the more mild part of the short and I would consider SFW and... hmm, Ok.... for most ages. Wife/sig other may not care for it.

Thanks, though looking now at it a bit closer I think a few of the frames may be misaligned - When I get a chance to get to my computer I'll take a closer look and probably redo them.
I can probably find a better fps but it was hit or miss on one's that would work
New version with some changes/fixes
I'm loving this. thanks!!

Glad to hear it
V3 out
Added a transition from the stock boot logo so the change from the logo to the animation isn't so abrupt.
So if you have changed your boot logo it may look a little odd but will still work fine.
Looking into maybe doing something else for the transition or just improving this one, don't know yet.
Awesome, thanks man!
Great, grande, thanks

Great stuff!
Just a couple of suggestions for recovery installation script:
1) Mount can be done without busybox using internal command. For OPO/OP2 it reads as:
Code:
mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system", "/system");
2) The permissions for newly copied file should be replaced from 0777 to 0664
Also if you will be able to make a finishing animation, that for example fade-out girl and make 1+ icon bright, it will be perfect.

Thanks for the info - the script is just a modified ZIPme script. Is there advantages to not using busybox. The permissions, you are correct. They were also what was set from ZIPme and I completely looked over it and I'll correct them.
Thanks for the suggestion for the closing animation as well, had briefly thought about doing something but just haven't gotten to it.

About the above.
If you use the above mounting method then if /system/ has already been mounted, the installation will fail as permissions fail to set for an odd reason.
You can either unmount (which will do nothing if already unmounted) and then mount in that way or mount it the proper way using busybox.
Think (from memory - been a while since I used it, I just use the lazy method above for some reason) it goes like this:
Code:
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/system");
2) You got a typo, you do mean 644. Won't matter anyway since recovery will automatically give the correct permission to the file as it replaces it and nowadays even Android itself is capable of fixing it's own permissions.
Sent from my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk
Yes, there was a typo and I mentioned 644. Currently there is line in installation script to specifically set permission to 0777, which cannot be correct under any circumstances.
And as for unmount you are also correct, and I indeed in my scripts first unmount stuff before mounting.
Sorry for resurrecting this threat, but I do like the animation and want to use it on my OP2.
For whatever reason, though, it refuses to display, instead only showing the logo, waiting, and then booting directly into the OS without showing any video at all.
I tried both the manual and the recovery approach, to no avail. Ideas?
Now to find a NSFW version of this /s
Also wanted to know if there is a slower version of the animation, cause after like 2 seconds of dancing she starts dancing waaay too fast
I just put this in my Oneplus 5...love it. Thank you!
Ah, this one is gold

If, like me, you strongly dislike the HTC "Quietly brilliant" boot sound, here's how to disable it entirely:
Pre-requisites:
Put your phone into recovery
Get a working adb shell
Mount /system
Code:
mount /system
Move the sounds out of the way
Code:
mv /system/customize/resource/android_audio.mp3 /system/customize/resource/android_audio.mp3.nothanks
Code:
mv /system/media/android_audio.mp3 /system/media/android_audio.mp3.nothanks
I didn't really want to install an application to do "silent" the boot up, and was actually worried about the case (by Murphys law) that I drop my phone, the battery comes out, I insert it (forgetting it wasn't on silent) and the boot sound causes my death.
I Google'd for quite a while with no luck, but sorry if this has been posted somewhere. I especially didn't want to change ROMs just to remove the sound. I also noticed that in both locations, bootanimation.zip existed which contains the frame-by-frame sequence for the boot up screen.
Thanks! It worked perfectly.
Nice guide.
For anyone wanting to change the boot animation, see this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=672339
I've changed mine to the Nexus One boot animation. Sweet
Great! it worked, cheers.

If you read the OP properly, you'd have realised why I didn't want to install an application for this purpose.
"Silent Boot mutes your Phone on shutdown to keep it silent on boot.
Restores previous volume settings after startup."
You drop the phone. The battery comes out. You need to boot the phone silently or you forget until its too late. Epic fail.
Hi,
this is something that I would like to do, but even the command "working adb shell" throws me.
I have rooted my phone ok, so is it a simple process that I can do, or should I avoid it?
Is there an idiots guide to starting out?
TIA
put it in recovery via the pushfiles, then in windows open a command (cmd.exe). Navigate to the android-sdk folder (if not installed download it), then cd tools, then adb.exe I think. I am a noob to... Plz correct if this is wrong

All you have to do is:
- Put your phone into recovery
- Push the files as normal so you can get the menu screen where you can make nandroid backups etc etc (Google for now to get here and/or see MoDaCo).
Now type "adb shell" at a terminal (modify if you are using Windows), just get a # prompt basically.
Then copy/paste the commands.
failed on 'system/customize/resources/android_audio.mp3' - No such file or directory
not sure if that is exactly what you typed, but there's no 's' on the end of resource in the path

You made two mistakes.
There is a / at the beginning (doesn't matter if your cwd is /, but better to have it just in case).
The final 's' in resources being the main error.

Are you running this command while the phone is running?
As it's in /system, your phone has to be in recovery mode setup with the pushfiles. So you have the nandroid menu (for example).

I found one of the down sides to apps2sd is that the silent boot app didn't seem to work any more - not sure why but i'm guessing that the sd card is dismounted before the app gets the chance to silence the phone on shutdown, maybe?
Anyway, after much reading and re-reading these instructions i finally found the courage to try using them and finally my phone is booting silently again. VERY happy
Hi,
Done Thanks very much.
My only concern is the intro video is very slow now - causing the entire phone to start up slower....
any ideas?
actually it's a lot easier, and no root needed ;-)
Code:
adb shell cp /system/media/bootanimation.zip /data/local/
This copies the standard boot animation to the location where custom animations can be put. This silences the animation, as the mp3 is not copied to the same location.
I finally registered for the forum, just to say: my GOD, that was a complicated process just to turn off an annoying sound!!
Step 1: Make a gold card (at least 17 steps)
Step 18: Root your phone (around 10 steps; ironically, probably the simplest bit!)
Step 29: Open command prompt and navigate to rooting folder on pc
Step 30: Turn on phone, holding down back button
...
Step 38: Rename the second (backup?!) mp3 file
Step 39: Reboot phone.
OR
Step 1: Live in a universe where phone manufacturers realise that not everyone wants to wince when they turn their phone on.
Step 2: Go to the settings and turn off the startup animation.
Had a little bit of free time today, so I decided to see about making a nice professional-looking boot animation. What you'll find here is the result... This is my first attempt at making any sort of animation of any kind, so I'm quite open to comments/suggestions/feedback.
"So what happens in this animation?" you ask.
I'll tell you.
The quad-color X logo smoothly fades in on top of a black background, and it gradually falls backward to take its rightful position inside the phrase "nexus one" as the letters fade in one at a time. The colorful X then spins in place for the remainder of the loading process.
To install:
Code:
adb remount
adb push xspin_bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
or flash the xspin_bootanimation-update.zip from your favorite recovery - installs to /data/local/bootanimation.zip
Enjoy
edit: thanks to gIMpSTa for the update.zip to flash from recovery!
UPDATE: Added ShinyX, a shinier version of the spinning X (00167.png is a shot of this shiny mod). Install process is the same; the update-zip will stick it in /data/local.

Looks nice (per screenshots/description at least ). Haven't tried it yet, but am about to.

Edit: oh yeah, this update.zip puts it in /data/local not /system/media so this will probably only work cyanogenmod based roms.

Hmm. I suppose I could... I was just pulling those letters from the logo at google.com/phone, though, and it was in lowercase there. I don't know what the font is so I'm not sure I could 100% reproduce the same letter shapes with capital letters. I'll see if I can pull that off tomorrow though.
Any chance of a gif or a youtube video? I don't have my phone at the mo (at HTC being repaired) but this sounds awesome

lol, sorry, not tonight. We'll see how much free time I have tomorrow.
In the meantime, I'm still trying to figure out why I can't get the update.zip I created to work... it works fine when I build it to install to /system/media/, but fails with a syntax error when I change the directory structure and update-script to point at /data/local/. :-/
Could actually use some help on this if anyone feels so inclined.
File structure:
Code:
-data
--local
---bootanimation.zip
-META-INF
--com
---google
----android
-----update-script
update-script contents:
Code:
show_progress 0.1 0
copy_dir PACKAGE:data DATA:
show_progress 0.1 10
I created the UNIX-format update-script file using Notepad++.
Doesn't seem to be much syntax to screw up there, but each time I try to flash the resulting zip (after signing and such) I get "E: Syntax error in update script".
This setup works fine if I change the directory structure for bootanimation.zip to "system/media", and change the copy_dir line to "copy_dir PACKAGE:system SYSTEM:".
I don't get it
edit: LOL, rebooted after pushing the update.zip to the sdcard and it worked fine. I dun get it still, but at least it works :-D
Wow.this is a very nice boot animation.. good work!
This is for the DROID 2 ONLY! Do not flash on your DROID 1 please. I will not help you if you attempt this rom on a DROID 1 and will laugh at you.
For all those having a problem install I have updated the update.zip file. Try it out
Things in the rom:
Removed bloatware(Stupid Verizon!)
Added scripts
Many build.prop mods
This rom is fully Deodexed thanks to bizzshow. Thanks
Themse will be ported. The stock theme comes first!
Still has Motoblur, just took my system folder and edited it a lot. This is the first booted build so please report bugs as you find them to my GTalk matt4542
Thanks to birdman for helping me fix my DROID 2 when I screwed up the system.
The known bug is that the backlight wont turn off when you locked the device, the screen is on but black. Please do not report this bug I will fix it in the next release. This release is buggy and is not for normal use.
Btw I don't have a DROID 1 anymore. DROID 2 now. Will try to keep up D1 development.
I have worked my ass off for this rom so just say thanks!
This has the DROID 1 boot animation for a "retro" feel lol.
READ IMPORTANT!

Uh, I'd be careful with this one, kids. I haven't tried it myself, nor have I looked at the entire thing, but the {u,}mountsys scripts are wrong.
Code:
mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system > /dev/nul 2>&1
1) the d2 uses ext3, so the -t param is wrong (and actually unnecessary)
2) our system block device is mmcblk1p21, not mtdblock4 (we don't even have mtdblock4!)
3) > /dev/nul 2>&1 is extremely very not good - silencing error messages means a load of "HELP IT DOESN'T WORK!" complaints that you can't actually diagnose.
The rest of the rom may be fine, and I can't comment on it's quality/safety as I have very little experience with Android, but the above is clearly incorrect, and if something as important as that has been overlooked, who knows what else has.

Instructions for CWM:
Put GB_S2_Boot-and-Shutdown.zip on the root of your SD card
Power off your phone
Hold Volume Up & Volume Down while pressing the power button to enter CWM
Choose "Install zip from sd card"
Choose "Choose zip to install"
Select GB_S2_Boot-and-Shutdown.zip
Confirm selection
Choose "***go back***"

If, for some really strange reason you're *not* running drhonk's amazing KG4 kernel w/red cwm & ext4 support, then you will need to remount /system as read/write, push the contents of /system from the zip file to /system on your phone, and then make sure all the files have the right permissions (644 or 0644).

You'll have to remount /system as read/write first, though (I use root explorer for such things). Did you try just re-flashing the zip, first?
thanks it worked great! Didn't like that it actually says SGS II, but other than that it's a good boot animation... better than stock pink gay one.
**presses thanks button**

The sound is pretty quiet for me, but I'd say I hear it 6 out of 10 times on average. No suggestions, though.. Sorry.. If anybody can shed any light it would be appreciated

That's standard Samsung Recovery. You need to do this from ClockworkMod recovery (CwM).
Yeah I'm stock, but rooted. I'm not comfortable flashing custom roms yet
I don't really see that much difference or enough difference to flash a custom rom
But I really dont like the pink "gay" boot screens

If you are rooted, follow this thread to change the pink boot animations to SII ones.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1209211
Yeah, what he said If you pull apart the .zip file I have here, you can easily push all of these files to their appropriate places, yourself.
It's worth mentioning, though, that the shutdown file in my zip won't work with your phone, as you're not running gingerbread. The shutdown animation for Froyo is actually a series of .png images, a configuration file, and a .ogg sound file.... There are at least two threads on these forums that explain how to replace the froyo shutdown animation with the one from the stock Galaxy S
Gorgeous animation. Thanks!

Sweet bootup now thanks!
Thank you! Love it.

I installed a custom boot animation and now my phone won't boot up properly. The animation won't show during boot and basically after the galaxy sIII screen, nothing is shown. The phone seems to be started okay, I hear sounds and vibration when I press buttons, but the screen just is not showing anymore.
I'm trying to boot to recovery and use adp to either delete the bootanimation.zip or push a different version, but I get the device not found error.
PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks, but I finally got it figured out. Scarred the crap out of me for a minute there though!
I was able to run "adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media" and it works after reboot. I couldn't get it working in recovery, but was able to with the phone started like "normal".
Not sure what was wrong with the other version of the bootanimation to totally killed the screen though. The only thing I can think of is there was zip compression on. But I would have thought that wouldn't kill the entire screen like that! Dunno.
I am have execet same issue please help

Sorry, it's been so long I can barely remember this! I think what I did was pretty much as I described. I booted the phone up, waited for a little bit to make sure it was all the way started since I couldn't see the screen. And then plugged in the cable and performed the push command. It was pretty straight forward as long as you can ignore the fact that the screen wasn't displaying anything.
Had to flash the fireware

So my Debugging mode was off so I could not use adb push command, I had to do a complete firmware flash, that got my phone to work but lost all my data on the phone. but still a happy camper.
Thank you for prompt response, all your help it's much appreciated.
I had the same problem but with an ASUS memo pad hd7. I downloaded a bootanimation.zip that was the wrong orientation, so I unzipped it, rotated all the pictures rezipped and placed it back in /system/media/. Mistake! After that the device would not boot! At least that's what I thought until a quick google search led me here, thanks for your help! My situation was a little different, i'll explain my journey below in case it helps others with similar situations.
Installed minimal ADB and Fastboot from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42407269 . I already had the device drivers installed on my computer so I skipped that step. Luckily I had USB debugging selected, however, I had never used ADB and had not given it SU permissions on the tablet. I input the following code into adb:
adb shell
cd /system/media/
ls
This verified that the offending bootanimation.zip was in there. I then tried to remove the offending bootanimation.zip with this command
rm bootanimation.zip
It failed because system was mounted as Read Only and I could not change it because I did not have SU permissions so I hit the power button on my tablet to wake it up, blindly swiped to get through the lock screen, and typed this into ADB to request Super User permissions
su
I then blindly tapped near the middle of my screen. After a few tries I successfully hit the right spot at the right time and granted SU to ADB
Once that was done I remounted system as read write and deleted the offending file with this code:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock0 /system
rm bootanimation.zip
ls
After verifying that bootanimation.zip was gone, I rebooted the tablet and was greeted with success in the form of some generic Android boot animation.
Same thing with my Panasonic p11 and I have a password for SuperSU so I am stuck pls help
I would suggest flashing a backup from before the custom boot animation. Then taking more cautious steps the next time you try.
To avoid this kind of unpleasantness, whether for changing the boot animation or anything else, here's a few tips:
always root your phone
It's your phone, you should have access to everything, shouldn't you? That's like buying a new car and the dealer won't give you a key for the trunk.
always use a custom ROM
Stock ROMs are usually bloated with apps you don't need and can't uninstall. Also, stock ROMs often disable features and access either "for your own good" or to keep the interface simpler. Case in point, neither of the stock ROMs that came with my Galaxy S4 or my Atrtix HD allowed me to customize the LED notification light. Whatever defaults they picked, that's what I got. A flashing green light meant I received "something" (text or email). There are a variety of 3rd party ROMs out there ready to flash for a specific device, find one that you like.
