I have searched all over.. I have tried to solve this issue on my own.. and for the life of me, I can't figure out a solution to this problem. Upon reading other threads in different device forums, I know that other devices are having my same issue, but as far as I can tell, there is no resolution... yet.
I'm on GS3 / SPH-L710 / CM10.1 Nighty Build 20130119 -- I've only flashed this ROM twice and I noticed the first time, the main dir to my extSD changed because I couldn't run my Titanium Restore properly. The second time I flashed, my dirs changed yet again -- but this time I realized that my original /mnt/sdcard0 (internal) was now /storage/emulated/0/0 with a mirror --> /mnt/emulated/legacy/0/0
I am close to doing a complete wipe of my internal memory + external SD, but I don't want to lose everything I have saved deep within the bowels of the maze of folders I keep finding. I can post screenshots if need be... but does anyone know of any easy solution to clean this mess up?
I'm getting this same issue...Galaxy S3 with clockworkmod 6.0.2.3
in my investigations, i have found that its actually a CWM issue, not a CM issue. I dont think CWM supports 4.2, which is causing the issue?
Does anyone have a fix?
All,
I've been running CleanRom the past year since I've had my Verizon S3. I would like to try a 4.2.2 Rom but 2 weeks ago, when I tried Liquid, it left me with a bad experience. I could not find my external SD card(searched awhile using ES explorer), I could not get Voice, but had data. Long story short, I flashed back to Cleanrom, had the voice issue again, flashed back to liquid, made necessary change then flash back to CleanRom.
(Yes, I did the wipe cache, dalvick, data)
Can you give me some tips in terms of the issues I had? How do I find my external SD, and I think I figured the voice issue. But any other things I should be aware of? Should Liquid be my first Rom to try? You recommend others?

I would recommend Carbon it is also on 4.2.2 and version 1.5 is stable!! As far as finding your external SD Card, ES File Manager defaults to the /sdcard path. Go to settings and change the Home Directory to "/" (without the quotes). Hit the back button to exit settings. Hit the back button one more time and you should be in the root directory. From here there are three ways to the external sdcard:
/extSdCard
/mnt/extSdCard
/storage/sdcard1
Hope this helps!!
Android 4.2.2 changes the storage folders in ordr to work with multiusers. I use FX file explorer which also has root privileges and identifies the internal card as Main Storage and the external card as sdcard1.
I tried Liquidsmooth but I think they stopped developing because the team disbanded and created Carbon Rom. I don't like it because it doesn't have any DPI changing options and they haven't still found out how to fix the headset controls.
I used Rootbox for a while which is pretty stable and now am using ParanoidKangdroid which is also stable and a variant of PAC man Rom. All have reallly neat features you can play with. Hope this helps...

Thanks for the tip! I think I'm going to try Carbon Rom then...Seems like its got a good recommendation and its from the Liquid guys.
Gonna try today after a backup.!

Flashing modems is completely independent of your rom. Flash a new modem at will.

Reporting Bugs
You are allowed to report bugs only in this thread.
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log

Hi all
I am really eager to upgrade my A700 to kitkat... Since acer won't provide upgrades, i am considering unofficial ROMs.
Can you guys comment on the downsides of this Rom?
Any functionality not working?
Many thanks

Try updating your recovery to the latest version.
Installed it over 10.2 stable version without a glitch (6.0.4.4 recovery). Seems to work fine, performance seems to be a little under 10.2 but it's early build. Thank you very much pawitp !
cwm 6.0.4.4 works fine thanks.

Hi pawitp
Thank you very much for this Rom ! I did a full wipe before flashing coming from Evil Alex Purgatory. Rom is fast and smooth but when i delete a widget on homescreen there is no "delete" button on the upper edge so i've got to keep the widget picked and "scan" the upper edge until it turns to red. Waiting for update or reflash ? But not a big thing for me.

It's currently a bug if you disable "show search bar" in launcher.

Hi,
Loving it !
This is my first unofficial rom on a700 and I must recognize your fantastic work. It works great and is a major improvement compared to stock.
On top of jumping to a far more enjoyable version of Android, it brings an end to sluggish behavior AND to the below average responsiveness of the touch screen. It is like a new tab really. So THANK YOU.
One question though. I wiped everything, flashed the rom and the Gapps. At startup my memory available was only about 10Gigs...odd for a 32Gigs tab no?
The attached screenshot is where I am now. Feels like some space is missing.
What do you think?

Either it's a miscalculation or some space is used where Android doesn't recognize (e.g. CWM backups).
If you run the following command from adb shell or terminal emulator, you'd be able to find out where all your storage went.
Code:
su
busybox du -d 2 -h /data
To check the actual free space, run
Code:
df /data

continuous fc's of gapps and bootloop
i came from pawitps cm10.2 and installed cm11 plus the gapps given in the first post of this thread. i did a dirty upgrade (no full wipe) and everything worked well. then i decided to change from dalvik to art. the tablet rebooted and converted all the installed apps. since then i have continuous fc's of gapps which renders the tablet unuseable as the error messages pops up that fast and frequently that i have no chance to get access to the apps in the background. i then forced a shutdown by pressing the power button for several seconds and tried to restart the tablet. no success it hangs now showing the new cm-logo with the turning arrow around it.
a reflash of the rom did not help (as expected as the bad config telling it to use art instead of dalvik is still there). at the moment i am downloading an updated package of gapps from 12.12.2013 to flash it and see if that helps.
my next step would be downgrade to cm10.2 to get it back running.
any advice about how to change from art back to dalvik without the need of flashing an older rom is very appreciated. by the way, am i the only one who has tried out the new art vm? anyone having success to use it?
greetings

If you look at the linked page, you'd see that one of the gapps package is marked as not ART compatible
Boot into recovery and hope that you have adb shell access, then run
Code:
mount /data
rm /data/property/persist.sys.dalvik.vm.lib
Otherwise, you'd need to do a data wipe/factory reset.

Hi, im using pa-gapps and they work perfectly with art. I had art on the a700 for a short time enabled but since xmbc doesnt work with art yet i had to go back :/ I believe on the top of the website where you can download the gapps suggest in first post is written that they dont support art yet. Dont know why pagapps work well with art and the official cm gapps dont. I recommend a full wipe, reflash cm11 and install pa-gapps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
thank you pawitp for your excelent work on porting cm11 to our A700 and also for the hint regarding the gapps problem. i just did not notice that they are not art compatible. thanks also to BonzenPaule for the hint with pa-gapps. i have flashed this one: pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20131212-signed.zip and at the moment the tablet is rebuilding the apps-cache. so i will see if the boot process completes. i will report as soon as it finishes.
greetings

Hey, very helpful. I now see that I have huge amount of data in data/media... Very odd thing is that it contains every thing i had in "sdcard" in my previous stock setup... BUT it does not show in my current "sdcard". Despite wiping everything it seem to still be there. Have I missd something in the process?

CWM is designed not to wipe the "sdcard" when wiping data. However due to multiple users support, recent versions of Android do not recognize the content. You should use move the files into /data/media/0.

the very simple way to upgrade lasted CMW is download ROM MANAGER from ggplay
thanks @scoobyjenkins
This mod for CM11 on moto_msm8960 brings back the classic sdcard mount we know from devices like the Nexus One.
No more cluttering of /data with files which should go to sdcard.
Features:
- External sdcard mounted as /sdcard
- Internal memory fully available for /data
Installation:
- Have a nandroid backup of /boot and /system at hand if something goes wrong
- Simply flash the zip over your existing CM11 installation
- Wipe data is not necessary but will help if you have problems.
Deleting only the data of the concerned apps should be sufficient. (Only apps storing data on sdcard are effected)
- Files which were on the emulated sdcard can be found at /data/media/0. This is also the location where you have to put your zip files to be able to flash them with OpenRecovery.
Method:
Adjusting of following CM11 files to be in line with Nexus One example configuration according to:
http://source.android.com/devices/tech/storage/config-example.html
boot.img
- init.qcom.rc
- fstab.qcom
framework-res.apk
- storage_list.xml
See my github for details: https://github.com/S-I-M-O-N/android_device_motorola_moto_msm8960
Disclaimer:
This was developed and tested on a Photon Q but should work on all moto_msm8960 devices with CM11.
I cannot be held responsible if anything goes wrong while using this mod.
Thank you to everyone this work is based on: Cyanogenmod team for providing CM11, Google for providing Android and everybody else

Any updated version for CM11 M8 build?
I am downloading M8 right now. Expect an update within the next days.
Until then it should be relative safe to flash the M7 sd-mod over CM11 M8, you will just miss the updates concerning the kernel and framework.
EDIT: Well, it's not. Stuck in Boot. Stay tuned for an update.

Hmm so I'm guessing the likelihood of this working on nightly builds isn't good?
You could give it a try.
Nandroid backup boot and system, then flash the mod.
If it screws up, just go back and restore boot and system.
Apart of that I think we should wait a few days to see if we get a moto_msm8960_jbbl M9 build. If yes I will, make the patch for it. If no, I will pick the latest nightly.
After reading that we won't get a M9 build I made an update for nightly 20140814.
It seems the ramdisk is growing and abootimg was already complaining that it was too large. I had to delete copyrights and disclaimers to squeeze out some bytes. I hope that this trend does not continue, otherwise I need to find other means to bild the boot.img.

Simon

Are there any issues with this mod when flashing a new ROM? Say you're going from a snapshot build to a newer snapshot build, or even from a snapshot build to to a stable build?
Flashing a new ROM will overwrite the mod. So you are using the emulated sdcard on internal memory. Apps which stored data on the sdcard will not find their data, just like when you install the mod the first time.
Nevertheless if you stick to CM11 snapshots for which the mod has been adapted and you flash another release, just flash the mod for this release while you are still in recovery and you will have no problems.
Made the mistake of installing a nightly restored my backup. But can't get the classic sdcard back. Have re flashed no joy. Is there a way to get it back, with out doing a clean install?
Did you create the backup including the mod?
Did you restore system and boot?
Did you try to just flash CM11 M11 + MOD for M11?
Do you have bootloops?
YDid you create the backup including the mod?
No
Did you restore system and boot?
Not sure about the boot, will check.
Restored backup m11 and flashed sddcard mod.zip.
Do you have bootloops?
No
Might be a mute point.
The restore is eating my battery!
Doing a clean m10 updating to m11 Now.
Will install sdcard mod and see how it goes.
Thanks.
I should know here in the next 15 min.
OK!
With out flashing sdcard mod after m11 installed I now have
4 gig.
My guess is my back up was not m11 or JB bootloader?
Thanks for the fast reply!
The PQ has no KK bootloader, so every (working) ROM for the PQ is based on the JB bootloader.
As long as you haven't modified your /system after updating to M11 and flashing gapps and sdcard_mod, you should be fine by just do the same again.
But it's always risky, from a nightly to a snapshot. Downgrades are also risky and might not work.
You might just wait until M12 comes out and use your backup to restore it.
M12 is here
Help please.
Noob here and I am playing with my old nexus 5 trying to get android 10 up and running on it as I drowned my daily. Currently it has TWRP v3.4.0 on it and is otherwise completely WIPED. I think I have wiped or changed the file system of the wrong partition and now I have even lost MTP access to copy new install packages across, so now I am a bit lost as to what to do next.
I got here because the nexus 5 system partition was seamingly too small for even the pico GAPPS after I installed an unofficial lineage 17.1. My intent was to make this partition large enough to try it all again.
Any direction here would be greatly appreciated.
Dan
Somehow this came good and I havent changed much that I think would effect it. At this point I think I have a dodgy usb port on the one. Its back up and running atm but my real issues are now around the n5 having too small of a system partition for lineage17.1 and gapps. Might have to try 15 or lower.
