So I got this LG G Stylo a couple of weeks ago. its with cricket. when I first got it everything fine.
Then within the last few days everytime I send an image to someone ..regardless what network they're on , on their end the image is stamped with yesterday's date and a few hours behind so its like 28hrs behind
now when I send a regular text ...the time and date show up fine. I've switched the stock MMS and used Textra, hangouts..etc they all do the same thing, the text is fine but an image is always back dated and sometimes the image will just not be sent, like when I used Text sms Ultra . Images i get from other people via text are fine with correct date..its ONLY my images I send out.
I've gone into setting unchecked the automatic date boxes for "carrier" date and time, the auto time zone thingy too. I thought maybe it was my wifi so I disable that on my phone...and nothing.
The ONLY thing different is that I did root my phone, but everything else works, before the root I didn't have this problem. But I can't say it was the root because I THINK it started happening after root but im not sure since I don't send many images via text
any ideas ??
thanks

i have newer version of captivate with gps fixed but few days ago it stopped sending text message although it can still receive text messages.
normally after sending message, it usually displays time stamp under the text but when it does not work it just displays "sending" as status indefinitely.
phone is rooted and has gingerbread i believe.
I also called customer center service and they did not see any issue from the point of service provider.
Anyone has experienced the issue? Thanks,
I'd have them check again to make sure that text is setup right on your account.
Beyond that what have you changed recently. Typically something like texting wont just stop working on the phone without something having been changed.
Is the ROM that's on there one you flashed? If so back it up, reflash to a clean state and see if text works. Then restore a bit at a time and see when it fails.

somebody also had this problem and he did a factory reset and he was able to send messages again but he is saying that he has lost his root although it's not possible
here is the link to thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1540652
DID factory reset and now can send message. but cant root it back. crappy phone. tried from both of my laptop and desktop machine using odin v1.81. problem never gets around captivate.
Do the heimdall flash of KK4 or Apex ROM. Same as stock, but with root and all the problems gone.
Got this phone a week ago and I've sent a bunch of pictures to people through MMS. I've just now learned that none of those pictures were ever received. I don't get any sort of error message; it seems to send just fine. But when I ask if they received the pics, they always say no.
And no, this isn't the problem with 8MP pictures taken with the camera that won't compress properly with the stock Messaging app. This includes smaller pictures about 500KB in size. I have also tried alternative apps such as GO SMS Pro with no success.
I have another issue with receiving MMS messages. I do receive pictures, but they only open as a weird 5-second slideshow as if it's a video file. The only way to view the full size is to download the file and then go to the Gallery app.
Any ideas?
I have an issue with ppl receiving my mms. My issue is that they get the pic like 24-36 hours later
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I've had similar issues too, particularly with sending MMS to my friends with iPhones. I've sent group messages which didn't deliver at all, and I've sent pictures which took hours upon hours to send, but when I sent my brother a picture on his old flip phone, he got it within seconds.
strange... I never had any issue.
Actually, I just tried doing some debugging a few hours ago sending MMS to my family, and I even tried using 3rd party messaging software, but still no luck. They just don't want to send.

I've never had any problem either.
I know this isn't helpful (& I hate when other people respond like this) but maybe something in the way my phone is setup is working a little differently.
I got my phone from a pre-order & on the very first boot I rooted it etc. When the root66 ROM was released, I completely wiped everything & flashed the ROM fresh.
I use Handcent, but the stock MMS/SMS app works fine also (I just tried it). Other than flashing that ROM, all I have done is remove or freeze all the Verizon bloatware & everything works perfectly (& it's fast as hell also)
I've been having this issue ever since I bought it, including stock and root66 roms. I've tried using the stock messenger, Go SMS, and also the closest thing to the AOSP messenger I could find on the market, all with the same problem.
That message I sent out to my family when trying to debug it, they finally got it... around 12 hours later.
I just tried it again tonight, and it seems to be working fine, so it seems to be an intermittent issue. I've sent out 3 or 4 that took ours, and I've sent 2 or 3 that delivered immediately. And as far as when I was testing, same exact picture, same exact text, one took 12 hours, the other instant. It couldn't possibly be an issue with coverage, I've got 4G and almost full bars everywhere, plus I'm connected to wifi.
If you've got any clue as to what setting we may have accidentally changed, please do share because I haven't a clue (and tbh, there's not a lot to customize in the stock app)
Boy that really is strange, I haven't had the problem myself but maybe I just haven't used MMS enough to run into it.
the problem is within SMS, i have HTC sensation, rooted with CM 10 stable version
for some reason, when I receive a long text message from my gf, some of the content is omitted and replaced with older texts.
mine started 4 days ago. so far only two texts were morphed with one specific texts
for example,
the original txt couple days ago, started with "I just got our of work.... etc"
a day later, my gf sent me a new text, and it started the same way, but half way the new text was morphed into the old one, the old text started with "I just got out of work etc" and the other half were the new text, the beginning of the new text was not received, therefore made the whole text gibberish. today, the same issue occured with the original old texts "I just got out of work etc" appeared again and morphed itself into the new one. except the new one was not the full one again.
apparently this issue were been discussed since 2011, and no one has ever found solution. I deleted all my texts and wiped the caches and database. but the problem reoccured.
here is the issue, and apparently it is a common one, i can't post a link here, but its Issue 17769: on code google.
just google Issue 17769: and it is the first link
does anyone have an idea what is going?
ok so i got a boost mobile moto g, great phone and all but.. i unlocked the boot loader, wiped the stock rom and installed cm11 and it went well for the first 2 days or so. i will now get "ghost" texts. it says my sister is trying to send me a multi-media text but she has never sent one. then it started saying "no APN specified on device" whenever it did this. then fixing my permissions with rom manager started deleting dolphin browser everytime i fixed em. also whenever i reboot my phone i must make a phone call before it will allow me to send a text or else the text just wont send. last but not least, yesterday i started getting texts from people that didnt send me a text or sms saying that i sent a text that the person i was texting had actually sent. anyone have the same problems? any luck on solving them?
So, this is bit of a new issue, one I've not had before. I wish Hangouts/Messenger still had the Service Center ID in the settings in order to fix this, but, in the long/short run...
I unboxed my pixel and put my SIM in, started the phone. LTE/UMTS work perfect, locked right on, good signal/speeds, can place/receive calls, all is right in the world? I noticed after an hour I hadn't received any texts, and after feeling very unimportant, I sent a SMS to a friend, and got an immediate error. Out of curiosity, I went into the INFO settings (*#*#3646#*#*) and went into the SMSC settings. pressed refresh, which, populated an error. I manually typed mine, hit update, went back to hangouts, and voila!
The next day, I restarted the phone ( I like to do this often. I am also this user who actually turns their phone off from time to time ) and noticed upon restart, the problem resurfaced, like as if I never updated it to begin with.
Is this occurring with anyone else? I've yet to see a phone completely dump it. I'd prefer not to download another SMS application really, but, it's just inconvenient those few times I do restart it that I lose that SMSC number...
I'm having the problem as well but still haven't been able to fix it with the same procedure you did. It's driving me nuts.
UPDATE EDIT: I just realized the Wifi is interfering with it. As soon as I turned off the wifi, the txt would go out.
I'm having this same issue. I've contacted support about it, but haven't gotten a response yet (they said I would have an update yesterday).
If I manually put the SMSC in, and then Update, I can send texts briefly, but eventually I start getting an error 38 instead. A reboot and then manually entering the SMSC again allows me to send texts again.

I'm curious if setting your mobile data to always-on would be a functional workaround to help until they can get this fixed for real. Have you tried that?
