I wanted to install custom roms in my mi4i. I had my base rom - miui7 beta. But every time the rom gets installed, it restarts before the initialization. And i have to restore my backup rom again. I want to install blisspop, or atleast any good rom (suggestions, please). I'm currently having miui7 stable version running in my mi4i. Instructions, please?
Not sure if this is the easiest way, but what I did is to flash the fastboot ROM 6.7.20 to return it to stock, then use toolkit for rooting/install twrp. Then, use twrp to install any custom 5.1.1.. Not sure if it will work for u but u can try.
the mi4i community needs a step by step tutorial
Not sure if this is against the forum rules, but most of the miui related tutorial are already in http://en.miui.com/type-80-105.html(Mods please remove link if it is against rules) MIUI forum. This is probably why mi 4i here kinda dead. And devs also busy playing with their new toy (cm13)
I went there and after I read most of these tutorial, tinkering with mi 4i is really easy, and easy to return to stock as well if you soft bricked it.
I planning to create some post here for quick guide but after went through the tutorial, I dont think people actually needs it. Just need some light reading and you are good to go. Good luck!

Hello all,...
This is my first Helpful thread in XDA,.. and is aimed to help all the new android Galaxy Fit Users .. Being a newbie, i was unable to satisfactorily see a complete GUIDE about the rooting world,.. So here is my contribution
Basics :
1. What is Rooting ?
2. What are Custom ROMS ?
3. What is ODIN ?
.......Odin is a software for your PC to flash Stock ROMS and CWMs
4. What is CWM ?
.......CWM stands for ClockWorkMod Recovery, and helps you in flashing custom ROMS ! Try CWM 5 by tj_styles. U don't have to ROOT your phone for flashing CWMs
5. How to Flash STOCK ROMS ?
6. How to ROOT STOCK ROMS ?
7. How to Flash CUSTOM ROMS ?
.......This is beyond the scope of this GUIDE since each ROM has its own method of Flashing. It is mostly done with CWMs 'n some (like Creed's Rom below 1.4) are flashed via ODIN,.. get help from developers..
8. Does ROOTING 'n CUSTOM ROMs Void your warranty,..?
......As long as you are not bricked... it can be considered as a "pause" to your warranty period. U can get back your warranty any time by flashing a official STOCK ROM !
GOLDEN RULE :
Read, Re-Read the procedure, to prevent mistakes,...! Never experiment ROMs without full knowledge of the developer and the procedure (Unless you are a pro ). Keep the phone charged to atleast 60% before flashing. Keep your Laptops charged while using ODIN !
"I am not responsible for you bricking the phone,.. Keep the wails for yourself"

Will try this once I get my hands on Mi4.
its not work for xiaomi Mi4
install use CWM and get (error 6)
Please if anyone knows, in 4.8.29 miui, how can I disable "battery usage warning" at notification panel when battery mode is "performance"?
I think this thread should be closed until there is no reaction from the developer how to fix these errors.

What did you expect from a closed sourced device. The device is trying his best I'm sure. But without even the basic kernel source, and having the UI as closed there is only so much the dev can do.
Keep in mind this is a developers site. Not a rom support site
I think you missunderstood... I have no problem with the dev or the device, but it's clear that we are not able to flash this. And i think the developer could say what's causing these error(s). And if not, my opinion, this thread must be closed until somebody (like me too) will end up in a bootloop.

That is always the risk you run when flashing your device. All roms are alpha and betas for a reason. There is never a guarantee that it will not brick. The dev could have no idea why. Without any source its really hard to tell.
No the thread will not be closed
Stop this ot here, everyone
BTW I've an announcement
I got bored of bootloops, so I'll make WiUi a MOD, not a ROM. Here's why
>You'll be able to flash it on any MiUi 6 build
>You won't have to wipe /data to install it (but i suggest to flash it when you update the rom, before boot it)
>Smaller packages: less upload time, less download time, more customiziations with aroma
>No more bootloops and recovery errors since i'll be able to flash it on my mi 2s too
I hope you understand my situation, I want to contribute in the best way i can

Known issue, I've fixed this and as u can read above some thigs will change, you can try 5.20 anyway that should boot (dunno if it works, it's for Mi3W but they're same device for MiUi kernel)
i'll try it soon bro. keep up the good work.
let me know if you need beta tester for your rom/mod.
i love MIUI, and love it more when someone made it more customisable like u did linuxxxx (4x right? )
get unknown baseband after flash this mod.
restore backup and save.
please fix, i need ROM for Mi4
I'm guessing no development for the Xiaomi Mi4?

Hi Xda Team,
I am new to XDA forum. I am looking for some help. I want to root and install a custom rom for my Spice Mi50n. My device is based on android 2.3.4 and I managed to root my device with Unlockroot v2.3 software however I don't have any compatible custom rom available for my device. I have tried to download balarom, chromium, GBSandwich roms but all the download link says file deleated or expired. in nutshell I am not able to download any roms so far. I am not a developer or any technical expert. I am just reading the activles from different websites and trying my luck on my own. My device is out of warranty and the basic oem android software on my device is not performing. I know my device can become brick if rom is not installed correctly but I am ready to take this risk as my device is already useless for me.
If someone is reading this post, I request you to help me with a compatible custom rom.
Regards
aman
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. There is nothing on XDA about your device. So unfortunately you are on your own in finding a custom rom. Sorry about that.
Spice MI 350 N custom Rom
Thank you so much for replying to my question. However It's my typo mistake My device is Spice MI 350n with 2.3.4 android version and in my earlier post my device was mentioned as spice MI50n which is wrong. I managed to download the GBsandwichVv3.zip I have downloaded Mobileuncle_tools1.2.zip and Modded_recovey(4pds.ru).zip, ad2sdx_Mod by yuweng(2).zip and finally 2.3.6-update-2.zip.
I have tried several times to install all these things like roms and tolls but I am getting E.signature verification failure installation aborted. I am attaching a few screen shots of my device. Request you to check and suggest. I have rooted my device with 2 diferent tools unlock Root and superoneclick 2.3.1 but no improvement. I don't know what to do with clockmode recovery now which one to try and then hot to fix signature verification. I have installed superuser, busy box, rom manager, rom installer.
Pls suggest.
Regards
aman

Hi everyone, I've just bought my oneplus 7 pro gm1913 today and I want to ask you some advices about modding this phone... First of all I want to unlock bootloader and flash TWRP and after that:
I want to install gcam, which version do you think it's better?
I'm on Oxygen OS 10.0.10.GM21BA, you advise me to change to a custom ROM or to stay on oxygen? Custom rom for guacamole works on my gm1913 version?
Is it recommended to flash another custom kernel or to stay with stock? Which kernel is better in your opinion?
Sorry for my english and for all these questions, I'm a newbie and I want to learn from you with more experience than me.
Thanks in advance!

welcome to your awesome phone.
1. The stock rom is quite powerful and attractive, and a lot of us on here like it. If you root the phone, then you can freeze/uninstall some of the stock stuff that you may not like or need.
2. The Smurf kernel is absolutely silky smooth on the phone, and it lets you enjoy the awesome battery life. Other kernels are good too, and you may just have to try them out; that's the response you will always get when you ask for an opinion.
to root your phone and get twrp, there is an amazing guide in one of the pinned guide posts by arden144 or GoodSoul.
Here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...unlock-twrp-root-and-update.3940368/#poststop
that's your starting point. You might want to take over the air (OTA) updates first before doing the root. Your phone's latest firmware version is 10.3.8 from a week ago.
Good luck, read, search, and then ask.

Congrats to your new phone! Here are some thoughts from a two-year-user that are nowhere to be taken as axiom.
I tried Gcam a few times. I reemember it being a lot of fiddling to get the aux cameras working via Magisk module or flashable zip in twrp. Even then the results of gcam were worse than the stock camera. I made this journey three times and back and OOS camera always won no matter the config I used in gcam.
As for the OS itself, OxygenOS is comfortably close to AOSP and the tweaks made by oneplus feel really nice. It's close to the pixel experience. I would say stay on OOS and wait and see if there is something feature missing you absolutely need. When you want to switch to a custom rom, just check the corresponding thread here in XDA and choose the one you like the most. Mosts of them are still actively supported. One thing you should know is that TWRP backups/restores can break easily if not all stars are aligned perfectly, so be careful to trust those unconditionally.

Thank you very much for your advices!!
So I have bought one Poco X3 Pro Indian version recenlty and it arrives tomorrow. I just wanted to know what are the things I should do after getting the phone in hand. I have no past experiences with Xiaomi and I have always used Samsung till now. So MIUI is kinda new for me and I researched around a little bit here and there and found out MIUI is full of bugs and a really heavy android based skin.
I just want to get the most out of my device and get a clean, minimalistic good user experience. Also I will be gaming a bit as well. But dont really need any fancy overclocking that will put pressure on the device and hamper it in the long run.
Thank you. You dont need to tell me everything in detail . But if you can, that would really mean a lot tho. You can just tell me the topics example- 'Unlock your bootloader (MUST)' and I will figure the rest out by searching and googling . Thank you again for your time.

First decide whether you want to use MIUI or custom ROM.
If you want to stay with MIUI, then look in XDA for useful topics. Debloat, root, Magisk modules, battery health preserving or ask what you need, maybe someone has answer for it.
If you want to install custom ROMs, but no experience of flashing custom ROMs, you can read my guide here:

Thanks for @urbanman2004 guide for Poco X3 Pro. Some sentences still needed, so keeping it similar. This guide provides photos & screenshots. Simulate all process and reduce misunderstanding. Section 1: Unlock bootloader (Works for most...

ROM opinion is subjective.
If you are not satisfy with the ROM you are using, can try custom ROMs or modify MIUI.
Many people said MIUI drains battery fast and has a lot of bugs, but some people did not encounter issues and are satisfy with MIUI.
Try and error, life is just like this.
