Choetech NEW Fast Wireless Charger Review - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Accessories

Hey guys, here's my review of the Choetech Fast Wireless chargers.
I was provided these chargers at a discount for my fair and unbiased review. 1st I'd like to thank Choetech for their customer support and openness with my feedback. In my experiences with these chargers I had a bit of mixed feelings. I really really really wanted to like them. And while they worked fine some of the time, I still have been experiencing many issues which I will list below.
I was provided the round charger and Choetech charging adapter, then provided the newer version, the square charger. This was for my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+
1. Overheating (round and square) - there have been a number of times I've picked up my phone off of these chargers and it's been 103 degrees Fahrenheit. In my opinion that's too hot and I worry about phone/battery damage.
2. Charging stopping/starting (round and square) - I have mainly experienced this with the round charger. The newer square one still did this but not near as much. The charging would continuously pause and restart as much as 5-6 times in a minute.
3. Not charging at all (round) - sometimes I'd place my phone on the charger and nothing would happen. I'd move it to dead center and still nothing. It wasn't until I unplugged the unit then back in until it started working again.
4. Slow charging (round) - multiple times I'd place my phone on the charger and it would only go up 4 percent in 2 hours...
5. Charging seemed to stop at around 75% sometimes and just stay there. (round)
6. Charging light blinked (round) - not sure what this was about but many times it would just sit there and blink green.
7. Overnight charging seemed to stop (round) - I'd wake up to a blinking light and my phone would not be at 100%. Usually between 75%-95%

In all I definitely feel the square charger worked better, however at this point I can only give it a 6 out of 10. Choetech seems to have great customer service and the build quality of their products look to be great. There just seems to be a few technical bugs that need to be worked out.
That being said, I will say that my Samsung Wireless Charger also experiences a few of the above mentioned issues mainly numbers 6 and 7. So who knows if it's the chargers, my phone, or just bad technology in wireless charging. I will say I'm pretty bummed and was expecting better for a phone I've paid so much money for.

I have been using this pad for a few days now, and I love it. Compared to my OEM Samsung charging pad it is spot on.
Love the build quality and ergonomic design. I appreciate the fact that is very thin and has very sticky pads on the bottom that don't allow it to slide around on my nightstand.
I've even used this in my car and the pad did not slide around or move.
Another great feature is the non-intrusive LED light, because of this it has earned the coveted spot on my nightstand. The Samsung one as well as another QI pad I have both have really bright and obnoxious LED lights. This makes use of them on my nightstand very unlikely. I can't stand that bright LED in my face. Choetech pad has one small LED that can be pointed away and doesn't bother me one bit.
Furthermore, the cable that came with the unit is superb, seriously something as simple as this can really enhance a product. The cable is thick and solid feeling yet very soft and flexible, this is a big plus in my book.
Can't say enough good things about this charging pad, it looks great, charges fast and works well with my S6 and Note 5. Even the packaging was very well thought out, like something you'd expect from Google or Samsung.
Solid thumbs up from me, I highly recommend this product.

Nokia DT-900 Qi charger Teardown & Review

I picked up the Nokia DT-900 from my local Verizon store for $49. When placing the device on the charger it will charge cycle a number of times before stabilizing into a charge. Last night I had a issue where I had to remove and replace the device because the charger was blinking after failure to charge 10+ times. The positioning doesn't matter as long as it's on the keystone, although the Nexus slides off rather easily.
The stock adapter is +12VDC 0.75A. I tried hacking in a +12VDC 1.75A transformer for faster charging rates but the device failed to do anything. I re-spliced the stock transformer and it still works. With daydream activated the keystone maintains to drains the battery as it cannot provide enough charge to power the device. For $49 this product is a compromise to failure in wireless charging technology due to charging rate and slick surface.
Battery Mix reports +/- 10%/hour charge

Inside the device. The back pops right off with a proper tool. Notice the 3 temp sensors between the coils.
Underside of the circuit
The maximum charge rate is set for 789 mA and at 4ish volts this is less than 4 watts. When the battery gets full the rate goes down, so try again with an empty battery.
There is not much use in a bigger adapter.
This Qi charger isn't good, I tried it .
Bye!

Nokia Qi charger and magnet
Hi, I'm sorry if the question is a nonsense but.... would a usual magnet, attached to the plastic cover of the charging plate, interfere with charging capabilities of the plate? or is there any Qi standard wireless charger, which would hold the phone with a magnet? would be a good charging accessory of the car.
thank you
Ended up returning mind and going with the WCP-300. Had little to no luck with these, zero issues with WCP-300.

I got one of these.. and the 1st few times I tried it, it was working great.. no issues at all...
now I can't get my N4 to stay charging for more than 5 minutes (then it stops, beeps, tries again, fails, etc)... I leaning towards returning it.
Does anyone know what the thickness without the casing is?
I've got some new tear down pics I will post soon. I just ended up using this charger in my car based on your review and a few others. thanks for posting this.

I would also like to know this!
I've heard no but it goes against the physics, so I'd say yes. It's not a good idea to have magnets next to a phone anyway, unless it's a weak case one. That ought to be OK on the charger too
By backwards engineered alien technology.....

6 mm
You can open it up like this to make it thinner:
http://imgur.com/x5QyghB
4 mm PCB with power plug
3 mm PCB without power plug (if you solder your own power supply to it from car cigarette lighter for example which also regularly uses same 12 volts as this Qi charger takes as input)
4 mm coil

[Review][Picture Heavy] Generic Qi charger [27$]

So i bought this Chinese generic Qi charger off Ebay for ~27$

There are 2 colors available Black and White, it's obvious which one i chose
The green standby light turns blue when the phone is placed the right way and charging starts. The phone should be placed so that the "Wireless Charger" writing is visible, placing it lower on the pad won't activate charging. But all in all, i think it has a good range, it's not like other generic chargers where there is only 1 tiny spot that activates charging, you can move it along the pad and it'll still work.
I used it with a Ringke Fusion case, no problems
Battery current fluctuates between 200mAh and 645mAh
For anyone who cares about packaging
Thanks for the review. I've been wanting to get my hands on a cheap qi charger. I may have to go for one of these now.
Do you have access to any other cases you could try it with?

i have a silicone case and it also works fine. not sure about otterbox commuter/defender and similar cases.
as for these generic chargers, look for the ones that have the qi logo in the middle (like mine). The ones that have this logo in the middle are actually crappy.

I have the charger that you described as crappy. I have been using it for months now and the only problem I have noticed is that it often disconnects. It will reconnect almost immediately afterwards, so charging is not an issue, but the beeping noise can become very annoying. Opening the charger up and ripping the offending beeper out resolves the issue.

Well you said it, it has problems, there are a few youtube videos about those. The one i got is ok, it has no disconnecting problems, the light stays blue when it's charging, and no beeping sound.

Just got this same charger as op, but in black. It works with a gel case and a cheap flip case, both have back cover.
How long it works is another story.

Does it fluctuate all the time, or depending on the charge level? If it does all the time, then it isn't normal, I suppose.

Does it get hot? I wonder if the white version is cooler than the black one, because of the color?
BTW, does the black one come with microUSB connector as well?
It gets warm while charging, but seems to stop after it's finished. The phone had normal temperature around 100%.
If you leave the charger in the sun I'm guessing it could get hotter than the white.
Mine came with USB and eu wall plug

what widget do you have that shows the charging speed? I tried something before but it only gave the net value and since i was checking the app it made the offset that much worse.
Got this charger. There's a problem with it.
When charging reaches 100%, the Led turns green, and process stops. Now, if I pick up the phone (while it is fully charged) and place it back on the pad, the process will start over again (LED turns blue) and continues INFINITELY! It means, the led doesn't go green, the phone gets warm, and the Battery Monitor Widget reports positive current of about 200mA flowing into the phone. Could you please check with your chargers and confirm this behavior? In fact, this might be the phone's fault; possibly, it doesn't re-send the end-of-charge state message to charger, once placed on pad with full battery.
Have the same one and it stopped working for some days, now it does charge again but no beep when it's finished. Maybe a good thing?

Poor performance of Choetech Adaptive Fast Charger, 5 port 60 watt

I've been a fan of Anker chargers (and other products) as they tend to be high quality and fairly affordable. I have several of the 5 port chargers floating around my home and office that I use to keep various gadgets juiced up throughout the day. I was hoping to find a multi-port charger that was also Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 capable so I could bring it with me when I travel. Choetech is the first company I've found on Amazon that advertises a multi-port charger with 2 QC 2.0 capable ports, so I picked one up.
Physically it's about the same size as every other multi-port charger on the market. What's immediately obvious as different though is how light the unit is. It weighs in 5.6 oz (158g) which is less than half the weight of the Anker 60W charger which competes head to head. In this case, I don't think that's a good thing. I haven't cut it open yet but I'm guessing it doesn't have the proper internals to handle power. The other weird physical attribute is that it has recessed USB ports. The actual ports are sunken in by a fifth of an inch (half a cm). I guess the cables can still make contact however, it's a puzzling design decision as you'd imagine that the more contact area the better for power transfer.

Something odd I noticed right away is my Note 4 wouldn't consistently register the charger as fast charger. I swapped out cables, tried unplugging cables from the other ports, jumped and spun around a few times, etc. With my Anker QC 2.0 charger, it would register as a fast charger every single time. I first thought something was amiss after leaving my 2013 Nexus 7 attached to a "standard" port for several hours and then came back to find the battery percentage had only risen 16%. That's really really low.
I reached out to Choetech customer service and they sent me a replacement unit citing the original unit as faulty. It shipped directly from China and took a few weeks. Comparing the two chargers side by side it's clear they've been making small changes to the text on the unit, font size/weight, as well as changing the stated power output from the fast charge ports. At the end of the day it doesn't matter though.
So I tried to be fairly rigorous in my testing and tracked battery percentage over time as well as charge rate over time. A real QC 2.0 charger will hit a charge delta of 80% per hour during bulk charging and taper off as the battery nears full capacity. The Choetech charger comes in at a measly 10% per hour. I put it on at 40% battery and it took all night to get to 100%. You can see from the graph that the charger behavior is to switch on an off instead of providing a clean source of power.
I've attached the same graph (same phone, battery, cable, etc.) with the same axes and time scale but hooked up to a standard charger (non QC 2.0) and it hits a 50% charge rate easily before tapering off. I've verified across two units and two different devices that the Choetech charger is a complete sham when it comes to meeting its advertised specs. I ended up returning my original unit to Amazon and the 2nd unit to the seller in New Jersey.
Reading through the reviews on Amazon, either they're shill reviews or they're from people who haven't actually taken a hard look at what the charger is doing. I'll admit, it does seem to "charge" your devices, but at a snails pace.
I bought one of these units recently. Mainly to charge my non QC2 device.
I thought I'd get one, for when I get the Note 4 or S6.
Anyway, I returned it, it charged slower than my original plugs.
Hopefully another company will release a multi port charger with QC2 soon.
I'm waiting for these to become available. The 3 and 5 port models look enticing.
Yes, number 3 and 5 is what I'd be interested in too.
Hopefully Amazon UK or similar will stock them.
Thanks for posting.

Yes, I read your review and did wonder if you'd written it, as you mentioned Choetech.

Choetech 10400mAh Quick Charge 2.0 USB-C External Battery

I received Choetech's new power bank today. Though this will be an unbiased review, I did receive the unit at a discount in exchange for my review. I just received it tonight, so it'll be a bit before I can get several charge cycles from it and give my full impression, so this post will be updated.
The unit itself is a good size, much smaller than the Ravpower though that is expected as it is half the capacity. This one is definitely pocketable, though you'll notice it since its rather thick and has some noticeable weight to it. It has two Type A outputs- one Quick Charge 2.0 and the other 5V/1A- a Type C input and a Quick Charge Type B input. The build quality is good; it feels like you could drop it a few times and not damage it. The faux silver chamfered edges look nice against the black, and even though the casing is plastic it has a good feel to it. Overall the build construction is good for what it is.
The big disappoint with this is that even though it has USB Type C, it is for input only. It makes us for this slightly by including a 0.5m A to C cable (which passes CheckR, BTW.) You won't get the fastest charge possible though. My phone was at 37% and I got a max speed of 1560mAh, which is to be expected with a compliant A to C cable. After taking a bit to ramp up the power held pretty consistent at 1400-1500mAh.
So far this seems like a nice power bank, but without Type C out there is not much to set it apart from the rest of the offerings. The only real advantage is that it can quick charge at 5V/3A with a Type C charger, but for us Nexus owners the charging is limited. The one USB A output is Quick Charge 2.0 compliant, so if you still have devices that utilize that you can quick charge them still. Choetech says they have a new bank coming out with Type C output, so at this point even though this is a well made bank I'd hold off buying it.

promised update: I used this to charge my phone overnight for 3 nights. the first I was at 18%, the second at 40% and the third I was at 32%. It didn't fully charge the third night, but when I woke up I was at 88% so it likely got slightly higher than that before draining back down. Overall good output for a 10k mAh bank, but I just can't get past the fatal flaw of no USB C out. looking forward to the promised revised version however, with proper USB C implementation this would be a solid bank for a little weekend trip where you only need a couple of charges
Just received mine today! Looks really nice and the size is good too.

Tronsmart is a new chinese company that emerged in the last few month and is seen more and more, while their main product line was android and windows based media boxs, they moved to chargers as well.
In The BoxThe box itself is simple white looking, nothing fancy but i don't want it to be anyway... don't judge a book by it's cover or a charger by its box.

In the box itself we can find:
the charger
power cable
info papers
The biggest issue i have with this is the fact that Tronsmart decided not to include any USB cables with the charger, while most of the users will have their own cable, it's still something i would want to see, considering their other products come with a charger.
SpecificationsThe main feature of the Titan is the 5 ports that supports qualcomm's quick charge 2.0, not something you see every day with a charger.
model : TS-UC5F
Size:5.9 x 2.9 x 8.4 cm

product page
Amazon
This isn't the smallest of lightest charging station around, but it is the only one i know that has 5!!! QC2.0 ports, and while it might be considered an overkill (who has 5 QC supporting devices anyway?) it isn't one once you think about it, more and more devices support QC or QC compatible charging technologies (an Asus Zen2 worked with QC charger for me) and for someone who has many devices in the house this is the perfect solution.
Closer LookThe charger itself in my case is black with rough finish on the top with only the sides and the logo smooth (and attract finger prints)
In the front we find 5 green USB ports that match the green led indicator on the top right side of the charger.
On the bottom there are 4 small rubber legs that prevent it from moving on the table and on the back we find the power port and ON/OFF switch.
Charging TestsI did my tests with both my note 4 and 5 with the 4 being my "old" device and was tested without a working sim (so no interruptions) compared to my "new" 5 that was tested while having a sim.
I used BATTERY LOG to log the charging state and time.
well, with the note 5 we can see that more or less both the original samsung "quick charge" and the Titan do the same great job having in both cases charge the device from 3% to 60% in 35 minutes, a bit over the claimed 0-60 in 30minutes but this was a "live" working devices, still good in my book.
The note 4 tests (with 2 small issues... started at 5% and missed 70%) we find a big difference after the 60% mark, with 10 minute difference at 70% and almost an hour at 100%.
In both cases the Titan work as well or even better then the original charger.
Final WordsWhile not everyone need a 5 port QC charger, it is still something that is good to have if you own several devices at home, that fact that all of the ports are QC2.0, this tech in getting into more and more devices so we might see if more often later on.
for the current price of about ~38$ it's not the cheapest charging station but far from being the expensive one with the fact that it has 5 ports and a 90W behind them.
The Good
5 ports
all of the 5 ports QC2.0
stable
price
power switch
charging performance
design
The Bad
big
comes without cables
i give it a solid
9.5/10
