List of APN settings for many USA carriers - Huawei MediaPad X2

The link will get you to the Cricket APN settings and directions but it also has a list of APNs for the X2 for (I think) practically every cell service provider in the USA! The Cricket settings worked perfectly for me!

Thank you so much for the link! I gathered that you are in US and you are enjoying the GEM-702L. I just ordered the same model 702L and I am hoping that it will work reasonably well to replace my Samsung Note 3 with a lot larger screen. How has it been with the voice and data quality? I know I will not be getting true LTE but maybe the 4G data runs reasonably well. Are you still with Cricket as the carrier?
Just curious if you are experiencing any problems accessing the SD card with Android 5.0? I am counting on it to allow me to use some legacy apps that need direct access to the SD memory. Awaiting your reply. Thanks.

By the way, have you work out your text messaging. Was the issue with the phone or was it the carrier?

[Q] LTE problems?

Been on the iPhone for close to a year. I'm tagging out! Coming back to android and the ultra or maxx has been the device I've set as my decision. However I'm a tmobile user. Maxx has the battery life I need so I want to clarify before I pick one up what any glitches of the device may be on the network. I've been reading with the kitkat update there is some sort of issue with the enabled lte and not being able to utilize SMS/phone at the same time as lte data? Is this true? If so any possible way to remain on H+ without activating lte or inputting apn settings? Or has this been rectified? Lol.....rectified.
Any input anyone has is appreciated. And yes I know. I should get verizon. I've been with tmobile for 12 years. I just can't beat their price right now and I live in an lte city. When I go out in the county it's a different story. But one day I'll jump ship. Maybe intervention is required. But right now I wanna stay with the T.

"LTE Thunderbolt" on the play store will be your best friend while on T-mobile
Works wonders with moto devices, you can choose which exact signal the phone should look for (LTE included)
Great phone period. On vodafone with it right now, used that app to ONLY look for HSPA+ and everything is golden Lemme know if you have any other questions, but that app should fix ya up
Awesome thanks bud. I was a but concerned about that whole hiccup and was making me second guess getting it, but the phone seems to be the best choice for me out of any available android phone. Hopefully this will get worked out. Do you find it a little inconvenient to switch signals or do you just stick with the hspa signal permanently?

With the KitKat update. It's pretty annoying that I can't make phone call and send text message when it is on LTE. Gotta switch back to 2g , edge before sending text , make call. There is no option to disable LTE to stay on H+ .

That's disappointing. Unfortunately I just spent 400 dollars on one. Welp I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed. Glad I didn't trade my iphone off yet in case. Well I hope this can be tweaked. =\
You can switch the phone into gsm only using phone info. If lte is disabled you'll be fine on KK until they fix it. LTE/GSM works fine on 4.2. I'll link a copy of phone info to make the change. Please don't modify other settings as you can potentially permanently damage the radio. You'll get HSPA+ in refarmed areas. EDGE everywhere else.

Thanks for this! Are the odds pretty good that this will be taken care of in a future update? I feel like I don't expect it since it's not a verizon critical issue. Would this be taken care of in a future KK update or firmware? Thanks for your help so far everyone
I had talked to a contact of mine at Motorola and they were unaware of the issue til I brought it to him. It's on the list of things to fix.

You're doin it wrong GSM only disables the LTE radio.
If I'm understanding arcanexvi's post correctly it instructs to switch to "gsm only" and not "gsm auto", though it's circled in the illustration. Hard for me to speculate though until I have the phone in hand.

Verizon HTC One M8 on T-Mobile

I have an account with T-Mobile, I have my parents there with the iPhones 5s, I just popped in my T-Mobile sim card into my Verizon HTC One M8 and I get LTE and everything! everything works fine! I don't know if this is suppose to happen, I'm actually shocked that Verizon didn't carrier lock this phone.
I am leaving T-Mobile little by little but if anyone is wondering if it works with other carriers, well add T-Mobile to the yes list.

Just found this video and ran through the comments. Someone addressed it and the person who made the video said they have everything working on T-Mobile including SMS.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJwqFersSoo
The person that posted the video said sending SMS is not working for him either.
Ouch, I stand corrected at this point. When I tested it yesterday, it worked. I surfed, and got messages. HOWEVER, I did not respond to those messages lol. I was recording a new video...so with that being said, yes you are right at this point...it does not work. It works perfectly fine on my other Verizon phones that I use on T-Mobile.

He just responded. I saw the comment on my Google+
I think once we have root there will be a fix for sending SMS on T-Mobile with LTE. Most likely a gremlin with the APN settings.

Verizon VoLTE

Verizon just rolled out their Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) system today. It promises HD audio and the ability to seamlessly make a voice call into a video call. Verizon is mute at the moment as to which handsets they plan to roll out this feature but I would assume we'll be included as the One M8 supports the AWS spectrum.
Two big downsides are that if you move from LTE to EV-DO you'll lose the call and the potential bandwidth requirements against our ever tightening data caps.
Thoughts?
Verizon Wireless subscribers with the right handsets will be able to start making high-definition voice and video calls over the carrier’s LTE network in the next few weeks, kicking off a long-awaited transition that eventually will eliminate Verizon’s traditional cellular technology.
VoLTE, or voice over LTE, will offer quicker call setup, make voice conversations sound better and let users jump into a video chat just by tapping a button on the screen, Verizon says. But those high-fidelity calls will drop if you leave the LTE coverage area, and last week Verizon wasn’t ready to say which phones will be ready to use the service when it launches.
VoLTE turns phone calls into packets and sends them over the same network that carries data from apps and the Web. It’s a more efficient way for mobile operators to deliver voice service and lets them devote more bandwidth to calls, allowing for higher quality sound: seven octaves, versus just four on circuit-switched 3G networks, according to Verizon.
In the demonstration last week, which Verizon said was over its commercial LTE network, VoLTE calls were distinctly clearer and the video calls had fairly good quality and video-to-voice synchronization.
With VoLTE on, subscribers will be able to make and receive VoLTE calls using regular phone numbers between any two Verizon phones that have the software activated. Part of the new technology is a presence feature that indicates on the contact list which people currently have VoLTE capability. A call with anyone else, or one that you start outside the LTE coverage area, will only have CDMA quality. And even though they’re made up of data packets, the new HD voice and video calls won’t work over Wi-Fi.

HTC claims that hardware wise, the m8 is capable of VoLTE. It would just have to be activated with a software upgrade!
Hmm... you may be right:
the HTC One (M8) for Windows will reportedly boast voice over LTE (VoLTE) support as well.
It remains unclear at this point whether the smartphone will rock VoLTE straight out of the box, but if not, Microsoft should add the support with its upcoming Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 update.

Verizon didn't specify which devices are compatible with the service. Most, if not all, of Verizon's smartphones include LTE 4G, but apparently not all of them have the horsepower to run VoLTE. Expect it to appear first on high-end devices such as the HTC One (M8), LG G3, and Samsung Galaxy S5. Perhaps it will also be available to the iPhone 6, which is expected to launch next month.
To access VoLTE, Verizon's smartphone customers will need to update their devices. The update will include Advanced Calling 1.0, the application that powers HD Voice and Video Calling.

I suspect that given the fact that the phone should have the hardware capability to support VoLTE, even if Verizon doesn't roll it out officially, we can see some developers here unlocking that 'Advanced Calling' app.
Also, I found this thread where some people were claiming they already had VoLTE meanwhile that'd be impossible since the network wasn't setup until just now...

ok, with a root explorer of your choice, go to /system/customize/ACC and you will see default.xml. Open it with a text editor.
The lines you are looking for are pretty far down, they look like this: (see volte.png image)

incidentally I added a couple pics of other handy changes. One is enabling music channel and the other is enabling minor quick settings (quick setting bar on notification panel).
Make sure your reboot after you save and exit.

Advanced Calling 1.0 or VoLTE will have to have a feature enabled on account for HD Voice, only 2 phones at launch will supoprt it, the G2 and S5. The feature isn't compatible with some select features such as ringback tones and city id.
Thats what I have read so far, without the feature on your account, turning it on your phone alone will not work. The feature code has to be added to your line of service first for it to work when it launches
That solves that
Maybe?

I just put my T-Mobile SIM into my unlocked/rooted AT&T Flex2, and I can get no data at all. I live in the DC area. Mobile data is enabled.
I attempted to unlock other bands but everything just says Fail.
Can anyone assist please?
Is the APN correct? I know it's a silly question but sometimes that's the issue.
I'm retarded. Thank you.
I got one to test drive last week and used the same settings as I have on my unlocked Xperia Z3 and data worked like a charm.
can someone post the apn setting for Tmobile on H950?

Shortcut master (lite) can create quick shortcuts to the LTE band menu.

Oh. Well the phone should otherwise work on T-Mobile because every band is present for ATT/TMO.

For any Tmo users, how is the ATT Flex 2 H950 on T-Mobile?

No B12 near me, but B4 works no issue. B2 showed for a few seconds then skipped back to B4 for me. HSPA+/Edge works too.
I haven't done many speed test, though my last one shows 31.88/18.44.

Do you have to be rooted to get those bands? Overall does the phone work fine on T-mobile?

The hidden band menu needs root. I haven't experienced issues with MMS/SMS, voice, or data yet. I did have an issue with my Flex and Moto E where both kept changing signal type after a thunderstorm when I was home. That issue was resolved at some point, so it was likely a tower problem.
Also NO VoLTE because T-Mobile only certifies their own phones for that function and Nexus 6 I think.

I can test T-Mobile in the Seattle market if anyone finds this useful.
I had not planned to test this for awhile but if it's something that would be useful now I can test sooner rather than later.
Did anyone get T-mobile mobile hotspot working for this phone? If so, how? thanks

No data during calls?

Hi Guys,
I'm using the US Mate 9 with AT&T, a GSM provider. I noticed when I'm on a call either there is no data (Internet) available or very patchy with the screen on...
Wanted to ask you guys if this is normal and expected behavior?
Thanks!
I dont think is normal, I've seen icon change from 4g to 3g to H+ when I'm on calls but still able to open facebook, whatsapp or firefox while calling. I'm with Tmo tho.

It's because At&t doesn't allow VoLTE on the Mate 9 so when you make a call you get dropped to 4g or 3g speeds. T-Mobile allows VoLTE so data doesn't change due to a call. I run both sims in mine and it's why I keep my personal line on T-Mobile and use it's data. My At&t line is strictly for work calls.

Thanks for your responses guys... In all my years of using all these different phones on AT&T, I've never ever noticed this since the Verizon days. I'll take the degraded 3G or H+, but yesterday it went straight to no data. Do you guys think I need an adjustment in my APN or is it a buried setting somewhere to fix it?
Thanks!

I didn't adjust anything with my At&t sim so I don't think you should need to either. Also this is a brand new sim and number so it was never in a different phone. I know on my Axon I had to put it in my iPhone first to get it working properly but not this phone. Are you in a good coverage area?

The device does VoLTE, At&t however isnt allowing it on the device. I can switch my data to my At&t sim and take a screen shot and back to T-Mobile and take one if need be.

I notice after the update today the "HD" icon next to the call timer is gone. That sucks.

Is the 4GLTE icon for Tmobile? I dont get to show the LTE letters but only 4G in mine, probably because is the Chinese version.

Both At&t and T-Mobile show 4gLTE icons but At&t's drops to 4g only while in a call, T-Mobiles stays 4gLTE which verifies VoLTE only works on T-Mobile.
I believe you're correct and the Chinese variant doesnt show LTE.
[SOLVED]
Guys, thanks for all your helpful responses! Just to close the loop on the issue of *NO DATA* during calls was fixed with the check box, checked in the attachment.
Although, as shared here, it's possible that it's H+ or 3G only service, not true LTE.
Thanks!
Alternative Solution
I had the same problem, I found out that this box was already checked on my phone, What fixed it for me was checking Mobile Network -> Access Point Names> selecting "ATT Phone"
I had initially selected "ATT Nextgenphone."
