Firstly please follow the guide on how to flash 703L ROMs onto your 702L here:

After flashing your "About Device" will show mostly wrong info but the next step below will rectify it.
After rebooting and ensuring the 703L ROM is running fine on your 702L, go into BOOTLOADER mode and do:
"fastboot flash cust CUST.img" ---- the "CUST.img is extracted from your stock B003 (702L) UPDATE.APP ROM file.
For example I flashed stock B106 onto my 702L and then rooted it and installed Kang_5.1.1_twrp as well so that I can make backup of my phone whenever I flash anything new. The "About Device" will show that it's a B106 but the Android version will show 4.3 and EMUI 2.0 etc mostly wrong info. Also the Dual SIM selection of 3/4G will not be working anymore.
After I flashed the CUST.img from the stock B003, not only the "About Device" show the right info indicating Android 5.1.1 and EMUI 3.1 (the build info will show B003 but it's ok) now I got back my Dual SIM selection of 3/4G !!!

Great post. So you flashed the cust from your stock 702L ROM and everything is working. Any time you flash a new ROM that also flashes a new cust folder just fastboot flash your original cust folder and that should fix it I'm assuming.

Very likely this is the case - will try with B109 or B110 next time. Will observe my B106 for a week but so far working fine !

I wanted to give this a try too but somehow I can't flash the CUST.img file ("cannot load CUST.img"). Would you mind sharing just the CUST.img file you used?
*Finally got it to flash. Stupid user error..

I've no issue with notifications working with my Huawei Watch from my 702L ?
I used to have notification dropping issues B003 stock Android 5.0.5 but ever since I flashed 703 stock B106 which is Android 5.1.1 I never had the problem anymore.
Even after the Dual SIM selection now working the notifications working great on either my Sony SmartBand SWR30 as well as the Android Wear Huawei Watch.
I'll give it another go, factory reset the watch this time and uninstall / reinstall android wear
Btw, is multi-window working for you?

When I flash cust.img B003, File multiwindow_whitelist_apps.xml from /data/cust/xml/multiwindow_whitelist_apps.xml is missing.
I can't fix multiwindow for all app.
PS. All file in cust folder (data/cust) is missing. I copy cust folder from 109's rom then paste to. It's work but when restart, all file is missing again

After I flashed the CUST.img from 702L B003 / 703L B016 back and forth (I was testing) I suddenly lost the ability to use multi-window with my apps by changing the xml file. I discovered that the "cust" folder was corrupted (it became a file with no extension and flashing over it didn't get it back to normal). I finally deleted the "file" and created a "cust" folder myself and dropped the xml file in the newly created folder (/data/cust/xml/) and cleared cache + data from the HWdualwindowlauncher app and got multi-window working again.

If you restart device, Cust folder may be missing.

If you try to install back the B001 you will perhaps loose the function to charge the battery. So be warned.
And by the way: my 701L had version B003. Are you sure your phone had B001? If yes ok. But if you have fully upgraded to Android 5.1.1 the flash of a lower version could produce unwanted effects.

Do a Backup in TWRP before you start the dload from the GUI.
If you have flashed the universalt cust you will see that the Andriod verson and storage Info will be correct.
But if did not go thru B106,B109,B111stock you will not have a full working Android 5.1.1. If this would be possible Huawiei would offer the dload for B111 if you are ond B106. No they don't. They inform you to upgrade to 109 via OTA or dload. When on B109 you will get the message tha there is a update for B111. So I guess we have to go that way, even if it seems that you have installed a B111. You have the wrong infos in the "about phone" and the universal cust is inside the B111KangVip.zip file. So this is curious. Start with flashing universal Cust, then flash 4 images for B106 and then go all steps via dload.

All ROMs for the 703 start in chinese, but you will be able to set the language. B111KANGVip has removed the most chinese.

Ok if you still have the information error this is an indeed, that you must do all steps going thru all the fw versions.
Do that NANDROID of incomplete B111. If you have the "not charging problem" turn the device complete off to charge for a while. If it does not charge do a recover of the B111 to charge, then continue.

4. b This flashes GEM-703L official stock ROM b106 via dload folder. [This flash maybe abort on about (90-95%), but this does not effect the next steps] Wait to press ok until you have exchanged the dload folder for the next steps.

Do you have your original cust folder or your original rom? You may have a different cust folder based on your region and I can add your cust folder to the cust mod so when you flash it your information will be correct.

Gem 702L user's downgrade guide:
For people who want to convert their devices back to 702L and downgrade, there's a way. After Huawei Taiwan releases a downgrade pack, it's actually easy.
Result:
Battery charging is normal.
Debugging mode can be turned on.
Basically everything just working!
You have a functioning stock gem-702L.
Cautions:
1, My device was purchased in Taiwan. All files I used in this process are for TW gem-702l. Please download all the necessary files in TW version, just in case.
2, I am not a dev. I have no ability to help you if you brick your device. You need to consider this before you decide to go ahead.
Alright, here we go.
Preparations:
1. Download 702L downgrade pack (it's only 2 kb): http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=81363&version=323452&siteCode=tw
2. Download 702L TW B005 stock firmware(1.25gb): http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=59524&version=193667&siteCode=tw
3. Download 702L TW B005 flashable cust zip (Thank ajsmsg78 for making it a while back):https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19718077/CUST-GEM-702L-D001.zip
4. Download TWRP-ENG-5.0.img (please find it somewhere in the forum).
Process:
1. My device was on 703L Android 5.1.1. I am not sure if you can do it directly from android 6.0, feel free to try or downgrade to B112 stock first.
2. extract boot.img, cust.img, system.img, userdata.img, recovery.img from gem-702l B005 stock rom, and fastboot flash all of them.
Boot up your phone, do minimal setup. Now everything in "About phone" is correct except the internal storage volume.
Do a factory reset and format internal storage. Now everything in "About phone" is correct.
3, optional:
if your "About phone" is all messed up, you need to do this. Otherwise, not necessary for legit 702L devices.
Flash twrp 5.0, then flash gem-702l b005 cust zip. Then flash stock recovery to format your internal storage.
4. Extract files from the downgrade pack. Put the dload directory in your SDcard. Manual update it. It should go through 100%.
(If it fails, that means your system's still on Android 5.1.1, and this method doesn't apply to your device. No need to go any further, just flash back to gem-703L ROMs and stay there.)
6, After the phone boot up, copy the full gem-702l B005 stock firmware to your SDcard, manual update it. It should go through 100%.
Voila! You are back.
Now you are on gem-702L TW B005, You can upgrade to B201 if you want, or flash back to your regional stock rom.
Here's my phone back to gem-702L and upgrade to B201.

I'll say it's safer to get back to stock B112 (Android 5.1.1).
you need to do a fastboot flash of B005(android 5.0) imgs during the process. I am not sure if you flash an android 5.0 img in Android 6.0, it won't go into bootloop or something.
It takes certain procedure even for a 703L to go back from 6.0 to 5.1.1, so I wouldn't recommend you to do the fastboot flash directly in Android 6.0.
This is a big effort and i d'ont know, if this fits for the Rom..........
I think i ll stay at Kangvip.

No problem. This is a backup plan.
Now that there is a safe way to get back, we can switch between 702l and 703l roms anyway we like it.

You must extract boot.img, cust.img, system.img, userdata.img, recovery.img from gem-702l B112 stock rom, and fastboot flash all of them First.
Great guide. I can see this being useful for anyone wanting to sell their phone and bring it back to stock after they already converted. I'll probably keep mine converted as the same thing with updates will probably happen in the future.

Install TWRP and try wiping system first.
What about the 701?
Would it be converted to 702 that way?
Could we change it to 701 after running downgrade script via fastboot flash b003 files from 701 and dload B003?

I think the trick is how to cheat the System that your device is in certain region for local firmware dload to work.
And that is where editing oeminfo sets in.
For 701L, since there's only downgrade pack for 702L or 703L, you need to downgrade as a 702L or 703L.(I recommand 702L because it's easier)
Now when your are on 702L B005, next step is to edit oeminfo to switch back to 701L.
You need to edit your oeminfo to eu. Then you can flash any Eu firmware, in this case, B003 701L. Then you are back to 701L.
I don't have a 701L so I can't try. but here's an instruction for Huawei devices to switching regions.. You edit your oeminfo to hw/eu(europe), then you can cheat the system that you are now an Europe device. It will let you go through the dloading of B003 for 701L.
Maybe someone wants to give it a try.
If it works, we might not even need that much work to switch between 703L and 702L/701L, we can simply edit our oeminfo and Voila!

Process:
1. My device was on 703L B112 stock. I am not sure if you can do it directly from android 6.0, feel free to try or downgrade to B112 stock first.
2. extract boot.img, cust.img, system.img, userdata.img, recovery.img from gem-702l B005 stock rom, and fastboot flash all of them.
Let the phone boot into system, do minimal setup. Now everything in "About phone" is correct except the internal storage volume.
3. (I am not sure if this step is necessary but I did it anyway) Flash twrp 5.0, then flash gem-702l b005 cust zip.
4. Flash stock recovery, then do a factory reset and format internal storage. Now everything in "About phone" is correct.
5. Extract dload from the downgrade pack. Put the it in your sdcard. Dload it. It should go through 100%.
(If it fails, that means your system's still on Android 5.1.1, and this method doesn't apply to your device. No need to go any further, just flash back to gem-703L B112 and stay there.)
6, Aftet the phone boot up, copy the full gem-702l B005 stock firmware to your sdcard, then update it by dloading. It should go through 100%.
Voila! You are back.
Now you are on gem-702L TW B005, You can upgrade to B201 if you want, or flash back to your regional stock rom.
Here's my phone back to gem-702L and upgrade to B201.

Thanks for outlining the steps - I managed to bring my 702L on 703L-B109 ROM downgrade back to 702L-Taiwan-B005 and then upgrade to 702L-Taiwan-B201 Android 6.0 !!
Guyzz. For those who upgraded their phones to B201 .. do you have any bugs ?
I installed the rooted version on my 701L and it works fine but i have some issues with some web apps .. and i have strange error in the system log ..
Am not sure if that bug exits becuase it's a beta build or just because i converted my phone ..

Sorry I've been playing around different roms so I just switched to 703L B111 near stock. I am not currently on 702L.
But when I was on it, there was one thing. One of my game apps counldn't connect to my Facebook account due to some "Hash key invalid" in B005 firmware, But the problem was solved when I upgraded to B201. Other than that, everything worked fine.

If you want to switch back to stock 702L from 703L roms, you need to do the full downgrade and conversion.
HI all,
i'm stuck at trying to dload the downgrade package. Somehow dload method doesn't startup, no matter which way i try: Updater=> Local Update or Vol Up+Down+Power.
Local updates does nothing and ends up normal boot up after another restart.
Vol up down pwr goes to TRWP.
Any help is appreciated.

I had similar situation and could solve it. I can not exactly remember, but it depends also on which version you were before.
In TWRP do factory reset.
In bootloader mode flash recovery boot and system.img from b112.
After system start do factory reset on EMUI. If system does not start try same with b106 files.
If you are on B112, dload update.app for B211 and then dload update.zip to B211.
In this state the downgrade script may run.
To continue normal install KangVIP or b203 international.

Nice and clear tutorial with all what is needed to successful update. If you proceed it should work without flaw.
I would Not recomnend that. This way will erase the fitting cust on 701 models. I don't think the cust it's a nice goiter which we can replaced by a randomly selected one. Why do you think the device runs in bootloop on this guide?
This is more complicated than the way AJ figured out.
The 'universal cust 112' is the key.
I did it on 3 devices now with 100% success in dload and no bootloops.
2 factory resets and 3 dloads (106 112 and 209) are necessary.
Then install 202 or 211 KangVIP from AJ to have a full functional rooted ROM with your origin cust you came from.

Perhaps indeed it replaces information of 701, I am not a specialist.
The bootloop when its causes are on both models 701 & 702.
Despite this my tutorial that my 701 & 702 work perfectly with the wifi and bluetooth.
I do not question the quality nor the audioralf skills,
I just shared my tutorial after many trials of other tutorials that never It Works for me.
Well you link files you don't write where you got them from and don't write for wich model they are made for and what are requirements they based on.
Maybe it works, but it's a risk to continue on a bootloop with further installations.
The regular way works without errors.
If someone is looking for another dirty short way :
Simply run the official downgrade script from 6.0 to 5.0. for 702.
It even runs on a 5.0 701 model.
After this it behaves like a 702.
Then you can dload the regular update to 6.0 for 702 models.
After this flash TWRP 6.0 and install AJ b211
This method is also dirty because you loose the 701 cust for your region and hardware
This may be have consequences we don't know.
So better go the regular way AJ had figured out and ask in forum if you habe problems.

I did succeeded with a mixture of both methods.
I started off following the "original version" of AJ and when I never got into upgrading into 6 I decided to stay at Near...B111.
When I saw Oblemay's tuto I decided to try it. Funny enough, coming from B111 I (701l > 703l) I never got the boot loop!
Also, since I was not able to unpack the rar file from step 6.2 I simply ignored this one and continued with 6.3.
Guess what it worked perfectly. Only issue was unstable wifi until I did a factory reset from within 211 (not TWRP)!
I am very happy with my former 701l now on Marshmallow. Thanks to AJ and Oblemay - Maybe it worked for me with Oblemay's (reduced) version as I also live in France .... Do you also have problems with the mail app in 211?
So can anybody provide clear instructions or links which work for 701 on b003? I am really confused right now, because their are so many Different Methods/Versions..

The way from 112 to 212 is described many times: Just flash boot, system and recovery from b112. Start system and do a factory reset. Then the update.zip of 211 can be started via firmware update menu. (Select partitionally update)
Then install TWRP and AJ KangVIP 211

If someone is interested in rooting method of GEM702 with stock B202 ROM. As i wrote one of my koleauges want to root. I was asking in PM @audioralf and @ajsmsg78. Finally using all advices rooting was done successfully by this method (unit should be unlocked and TWRP installed):
1. Copy to root of SD BETA-SuperSU-v2.67-20160121175247.zip
2.Boot to TWRP and before installing SuperSU go to Advanced->Terminal and execute command "echo SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.super.su" (without quotes).
3. Not leaving TWRP install SuperSU from SD.
@ajsmsg78 has some comments concerning rooting with systemless supersu:

Still waiting a clear way to convert GEM-701L B001 to GEM-703L
If you are on b001, try to
flash TWRP always on recovery2 partition:
Fastboot flash recovery2 twrp_eng_5_0.img.
So you can keep the device usb connected.
Then install universal cust mod 112.
Always put update.app file to dload folder on external sd. Always exchange the file within this folder on the next steps.
Start with dload process for B003, if you are on Android 5.0 but boot not on B003.
Start system and select firmware update and press local update to select full update to B003
If you are on b003, then
- flash TWRP eng for 5.0 and install universal cust mod 112
Start in bootloader mode and flash the 015 system, boot and recovery.img
Start system and do reset on EMUI.
Then flash TWRP and install universal cust mod 112 again and start dload with b106 update app
Now start system and repeat reset on EMUI including format internal sd.
Flash TWRP FOR 5.11 and Install again universal cust mod 112 and start dload via EMUI with update.app from b112.
Start system and then start local update with incremental update.zip for 211 in dload folder
Finally install TWRP for 6.0 and install
kangvip 211
My device: 701->703 B211 xposed 86
It fails to update to B003 maybe because of the Region/Vendor.
My Build number is GEM-701LV100R001C199B001
Is it possible to change the Region name or the Vendor?
try if it works, if you install universal cust b112 before b003 dload.

Here are flashable stock unrooted roms for you to flash that will return you back to the latest stock rom, then all you have to do is flash the stock recovery for your device in fastboot after you flash the rom and you'll be on complete unrooted stock.

You have to flash the stock recovery from the last version you officially were on. For example if you were on B211 and flashed my B212 stock rom then you have to flash the stock B211 recovery to go back to stock.

there is no stock B2xx for 701L. More advanced rom released for the 701L is B008 (sept 9th 2017), still lollipop/EMUI3 I guess

I have provided a full anandroid backup of a B212 stock rom from a 703L device. ajsmsg78 sould shortly complete post #1 with it.

Someone try sending me a nandroid, if I can boot it I'll build it.
I'm sending now to ajsmsg78 a full nandroid backup of a fresh install of GEM-701LR001C100B008 rom (last stock rom for 701L devices) on a 701L device.
He should shortly provide you in pots#1 a flashable file, to reinstall the very last stock rom available for your 701L device!
Then every one that did install TWRP recovery on his X2 (every models), will be able quickly and cleanly, to turn it back to a full stock device, with the most recent stock rom devoted to it! Thanks to ajsmsg78

Yes they should work on any TWRP version using the normal Install function as if you were flashing KangVIP Slim or any Custom ROM. I would wipe before you flash over a Nandroid 5 rom but you'll have to tell me if it's successful or not.

Yeah wipe shouldn't be needed if you flash over the same rom but I can't guarantee that if the phone has never had an android 6 update (701L) that it will work without converting it to a 703L or 702L first then updating to Android 6.
I did flash the 702L stock B205 from post#1, on top on a 702L device running KangVIP slim B212 V3. Did a standart TWRP wipe (dalvik, data, cache) after rom flash, but before 1st reboot.
Mediapad bootlogo is back, Huawei boot animation is back, Phone then start in stock b205 , BUT unfortunatly, many forceclose windows appear very breifly, but very oftenly (no time to read wich apps is closing)
Did a EMUI factory reset, same brief FW windows (one every 5 seconds, almost constantly, closing asap it's opening)
Then I installed the very last TWRP recovery 3.1.1.0 (I was on 3.0.2.0), but as on the last 701L I did try on , this 3.1.1.0 recovery doesn't boot (black deepblue and normal). Maybe it does boot only on 703L ?
So I did install TWRP recovery 3.0.2.0 back again, wiped everything, Flash stock B205 from post#1 again, but same force close
It seems that the stock B205 TWRP flahable has an issue so (and the TWRP recovery 3.1.1..0 also). I keep the device in this state, Let me know how to find out which app FC all the times, to help you fix it.
IMPORTANT : note that the huawei swipe keyboard won't show each time, when in HwStartupGuide I want to enter the wifi code. Also no keyboard available in the system afterwards. But when I switch in the settings to AOSP keyboard, it shows up when needed, and FC stops. So that was the app causing the FC fro me, BUT it also means that the rom is not so "stock" bug-free, so i'l try using it a bit to see! It seems that the stock B205 TWRP flahable has an issue so (and the TWRP recovery 3.1.1..0 also). I keep the device in this state, Let me know how to find out which app FC all the times, to help you fix it.
IMPORTANT : note that the huawei swipe keyboard won't show each time, when in HwStartupGuide I want to enter the wifi code. Also no keyboard available in the system afterwards. But when I switch in the settings to AOSP keyboard, it shows up when needed, and FC stops. So that was the app causing the FC fro me, BUT it also means that the rom is not so "stock" bug-free, so i'l try using it a bit to see! That usually happens when the cust for your device does not match the cust in the rom. If there are different regions of 702L then I need to change out the cust for that regions cust or just add the universal cust to my stock flashable roms so that the proper cust will be installed.

A new incremental OTA is available for 701L since sept 7th 2017, it's GEM-701LR001C100B008. it at least "Improved system security and stability with the latest Google security patches". But it's still android 5.0.1 & EMUI 3.0.5 !
As an incremental OTA, it has to be installed using EMUI3 local updater (put update.zip in a dload folder at the root of your internal or external sd card, then settings->updater>menu->local update.) on this complete rom already running on the device:
GEM-701LV100R001C100B005
(this link gives you the full rom package, so you can reinstall it/or upgrade your B003, by emui local update also)

Is your device a 701L?
What is your current rom, is it a C100 one or not? Is it the C100B005?
Did you try firmware finder to update first to C100B005, before later upgrade to B008 with firlware finder also?

Unfortunately GEM-701LV100R001C100B005 update.zip file is not available on download neither on TeamMT extract from huawei database, nor through Huawei firmware finder, nor through Huawei Danemark website, where the full rom has been downloadable for a moment
So I tried to install this OTA incremental update on top of GEM-701LV100B005R001C100B003 directly. But like you allinstallation with dlaod stop at 3%. Either direct download + emui local update, Firmwar finder + its proxy, downlaod with firmware finder + emui local update. All of this with both version of the OTA (sept 1st 2017, and sept 7th 2014).
So I dig a bit more and found a full installation file for GEM701LV100R001B005CUSTC100D001 . It'll take a couple hours to download, but I'll be able to test B008 OTA on this firmware, and I'll let you know!

Ok I succeed ton install GEM-701LV100R001C100B005 with the full rom file from above link. And from this full rom, I had no trouble installing the downloaded incremental OTA GEM-701LV100R001C100B008 from september 7th 2017 !! (I used emui local update for the 2 installations)
The device that I got today with GEM-701LV100B005R001C100B003 rom, is now tonight with GEM-701LV100R001C100B008 rom !.
So @Sebi1960, just install full B005, and then OTAB008 !

In order to have in one step a very clean stock 701L device with very last stock rom (B008 dated sept 7th 2017, android 5.0.1, emui 3.0.5, android security august 2017), please follow this thread . As soon as ajsmsg78 has added in post#1 a flashable GEM-701LV100R001C100B008 zip, then install it from TWRP recovery... and that's it

i did a full wipe and format with twrp on my X2 701L .
Than i used ADB fastbboot to install boot.img , cust.img , recovery.img , system.img and userdata.img from
Huawei MediaPad X2 Firmware(GEM-701L, Android 5.0, EMUI 3.0.5, V100R001C100B003CUSTC100D001, Germany) Zipfile
extracted with HuaweiUpdateExtractor_0.9.9.5 .
The x2 did boot and now it seems that i have a clean B003 .
I will try now B005 and than B008.

I had to reset the X2 with formatting internal SD to get 32GB total again.

i hope to get the full b008 Rom to install it with adb and fastboot.
The fact that you have to use fastboot to install those huawei files, means that's something is wrong since the begijnning with your device installation.
- do a EMUI factory reset (in settings) on your installed B005
- Retry to install full B005 (please check/verify the archive first, with your archive-software). Install it through EMUI 3 local updater: put the dload folder containes in B005 archive, into the root of your internal storage or a external sd card, then then settings->updater>menu->local update. That's the way I used for the 701L I updated from B003 to B008. Try also 3 buttons pushed reboot with dload well placed, if emui local update did not worked
this SHOULD work. If not, that could me the same cause that make.
My point is for you to suceed a dlod install before trying something else!

Did you on see that on teamMT's extract of the huawei database, that there is 2 incremental B008 OTA?
one dated 2017.09.01, size=208290836
one dated 2017.09.07, size= 228361214
did you try with both of them ?

@Sebi1960, I got my hands on antoher untouched GEM-701L, and I did follow the same B003>B005>B008 process (all with EMUI 3 local updater, settings>updates>menu>localupdate). All went perfect, with no issue. You really need to start from a clean stock rom (so dload installed). I didn't factory reset befrore each update, but I advice you to.
Let me know for your device. And don't worry, I'm sending now to ajsmsg78 what he needs to finish his TWRP recovery flashable 701L B008 file!
