November Android update for HTC One A9 - HTC One A9

Did anyone try out last night's software update? Any noticeable changes?
Initial observations: Up-gradation and initial boot up takes quite some time. What is more noticeable is the phone heating up during this process.

Found the OTA: (OTA_HIA_AERO_UL_M60_SENSE7GP_ATT_NA_Gen_Unlock_1.12.617.6-1.11.617.5_release_458832.zip) however TWRP nor stock recovery + stock boot will install it.

It's tough to see any changes considering it was all buttery smooth before as well
Wish HTC would post a changelog ...
That said.. The november update is supposed to fix the stagefright exploit.. So this update is critical.

ota upgrade rooted then this is possible because I have personally tried. focus is on twrp recovery restore or install will need to be system partition read only.At that time I was using [Root] HTC A9 thread completed. The other two threads I have not tried.

@jollywhitefoot: seen this?
edit: nevermind. You originated the thread and download links, lol.

You can flash it S-On or S-Off. If S-ON you MIGHT need to relock bootloader, but I'm not positive about that
This one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3541020&d=1447433290

I just downloaded the RUU from the htc website
Won't I be able to push su.img back on and reinstall supersu.apk? Noticed that the first reboot when trying the OTA just boots it into TWRP. I'm going to try the RUU and see what happens. currently s-on bootloader unlocked with twrp. factory carrier unlocked

Noticed that the storage menu in settings has a new set of options to format the sd card or use it as internal storage. Before it was only a button to unmount. if I remember correctly. Oh and I can't get root. I'm flashing back until I can find a modified boot.img that works

One x Updating

If i am rooted and unlocked bootloader can i update via att / htc update option on the phone?
I am not running a custom rom i have original stock rom all i did to the phone was root it and unlocked bootloader.
Am i able to just update to latest firmware now? I am not so much worried about keeping root / unlocked bootloader as long as i can update and be fine.
you should s-off your phone or you will be bricked if you take the ota.
I never recommend ota ...if you want it you can download a version in one x dev thread

[Q] Help: stucked TAMPERED LOCKED S-ON

Hi guys, a few day ago my One SV had some problems, rebooting itself and runs very slowly; so i tryed to do something like root it, but not knowing what i'm doing 'cause i don't have much time.
Probably installing a wrong rom, now I'm stuck in the bootloader with S-ON Tampered, Locked, and Security Warning flags.
The phone stuck with htc logo, i only manage to go into bootloader, pdanet gives me sync error, twrp recovery doesn't work anymore.
Is there something I can do now?

As long as your device is Locked, you can't flash a custom recovery.
So unlock your device at htcdev.com, flash Twrp recovery and flash back a working rom.
Use a Android 4.1.2 rom, otherwise you will have problems with noisy sound.

How do you mount the sd?
At least pull it out of your device and put it into your PC and copy needed files in this way.
One thing i could not solve earlier (because of bad internet connection): did you already install the Android 4.2.2 update or what was your software running on your device before? Thats important to give you the right rom for your firmware!
I'll give you the links anyway:
4.1.2 -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2254384
4.2.2 -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512742
Rumrunner & moonshine are confirmed working for your hboot, but which you should use at least also depends on your previous software.

I installed the 4.2.2 versions, seems completed but phone remains with black screen showing only the top bar with the clock, then reboot itself; sometimes after reboot it shows the bottom clock and lock, you can also unlock it, but then it reboots;
One time it shows me the backgroud.
Maybe it's a motherboard problem, what do you think?
Thanks

I don't know the name of the tool (i'm at work), but you will find it with google search, i think.
In recovery this is not a problem, its only to check on your pc, if the downloaded file is the same as the upload.

Update received - flashing via TWRP?

Hey there fellow U11 Users,
I just received the update concerning 60fps HD-Video etc. I use TWRP so the update can't be installed by itself. So I have two questions:
A
Where do I find the update file. I looked around a lot but couldn't locate it.
B
Once found, can I just flash it with TWRP?
Thanks in advance!

list your steps your using to install the ota via twrp....personally, I let the system initiate the install (booted into OS) as if I was 100% stock, once twrp loads, it automatically installs except for the firmware.zip
more details here...
OK, I am a Noob to the HTC world. I am used to easy flashing/rooting/etc. on Nexus devices.
TWRP doesn't do anything after accepting the ota. When I try to install the OTA via TWRP I receive Error 7. I worked my way through a lot of guides here on XDA concerning manual OTA installing. One thing I tried was flashing back to stock recovery which I found in the firmware.zip of the OTA in bootloader mode. That failed also ("FAILED (remote: not allowed on PRODUCTION device).
Edit: The device has obviously an unlocked bootloader, s-on, rooted via magisk and is a DGLU device, software number 1.16.400.5
Are you on an Untouched System Image? Completely stock ROM? While it is great we can flash the OTA in TWRP, the system stills needs to be stock, and of course will still have to fastboot firmware.

Thank you. One last question: when I rooted, I used the snoke kernel and pointed to that .img file when patching the boot image (no reason, other than that's what everyone seemed to be using when root first happened). It sounds like this time, I should get the full factory image, extract, grab the boot.img from within that and patch THAT to be up to date. Correct?

I uninstalled it and then the update show up in the notification bar, great but "couldn't install system update". Is it because of the root or TWRP?

Yes I know, you need an untouched System Image. Since you were rooted, uninstalling Magisk and becoming unrooted, it was still touched. Right now there is only one way to take OTA, that is downloading RUU.zip. Placing it on SDcard and booting to download mode. You will also need to have a 32Gb SDcard as mode will not see the zip. Once you are completely stock you can take the OTA.

For me and others with magisk installed it didn't worked out. Flashed stock boot, but something else seemed to be triggered...needed to flash ruu and take backup with twrp of the system_image and vendor_image in case something goes wrong again . Leedroid fixed it with those backups

The OTA failed for me also. I am also having trouble flashing an RUU. Can anyone point me to one? A guide would be great too as I am sort of a noob.
I have tried everything...asked everywhere.... Nothing at this time. I would love a guide.....nothing yet.
I am going on a few days with little sleep but can someone clarify why we need the OTA and can't just flash the firmware once available?

I'm not sure why everyone had to ruu. I just flashed back stock boot img and it went fine.

You got a device with permanent S-OFF? Flashing back boot seams to work on those, but on S-ON/unlocked devices with temporary S-OFF another partition seems to get tempered and checkt later on during the OTA process. Don't know which on, but all S-ON devices, that had been unlocked and rooted up to now had to RUU back to take the OTA successfully. Applies to such fellow members as @LeeDroid as well. So I'm wondering what you did different to all those affected.

No I have a regular production device. Just like normal, I don't use Xposed and never mounted system RW so just flashing back the stock boot img worked fine for me...same as on previous devices. One other possibility is my device shows status official (sunshine does that), maybe the ota update is checking that.

Well that might be it. Will run sunshine and test again, as soon as I got time and restored the software state back to official.
Edit: hope I understood correctly. SunShine does temp S-OFF and set the flag back to official from modified in the same step, right @beaups!?

When running Sunshine, is the Software changing from Modified to Official a temporary thing as well? Or lets say i run Sunshine once will it always display Official when booting to bootloader/Download mode?

Finally flashed an RUU. used this guide
https://forum.xda-developers.com/u12-plus/how-to/collection-htcu-u12-ruu-firmware-t3794664
post 3 number 1 (sd card method) must have <32gb micro sd. It wouldnt allow me to flash through USB. IDK why.
The RUU came from here

in process of installing OTA and it is working.

Thank you! Unfortunately my SD Card is 64GB so it isn't going to work...
