Can we use other devices' tree? - XDA Assist

Hello,
It's all about MTK. I'm developing a cm12.1 ROM for MT6589 but I'm lacking device tree for cm12.1. A device in MTK6592 has cm12.1 device tree. So can I use MT6592's device tree for building a ROM for MT6589?

@fire855 @ferhung @hyperion70 sir, any idea ?
sorry for mention.
For porting you don't need a device tree.
There is also a huge difference between mt6580 and mt6582 (sprout).
I want to compile but there is no device tree available with 3.10.x kernel .
There is not much difference with mt6582 generic device .
Can I use mt6582 tree which is with 3.4 kernel?
Do you help me , @fire855 sir ? ( feel free to reply me , please)

[Completed] Can You Port CM 12.1 To Device With Kernel Version 3.10 Without Device Tree File?

I have a BLU Energy X 2 running the MT6580 chipset, with kernel version 3.10. I was looking into porting CyanogenMod12.1, however there is no device tree, as the kernel version is not updated enough. Is it still possible to port the ROM? I also don't have the vendor tree, how would I get that?
Thanks, Nate

Hello,
You need to generate the blobs for the vendor. Also you need a working device tree and kernel for it.
You can refer here Guide to Port MTK Roms for more information.

How to make source device tree for new devices?

Anyone here can u tell me how to create source code of a new device as my device is INFOCUS M680, kernel source.
I have used another device as same board to create source of my device but the kernel source is different. So anyone can tell me how to create kernel source and device tree.
My kernel version is 3.18.19+
U can't "create" kernel sources... If the manufacturer provides the sources, then u can use that and make modifications to it to boot AOSP based roms

How to build Android Oreo Compatible Device tree...?

Hi..,
I am trying to build a Android O based custom rom for my device (Moto X Force /Droid Turbo2 i.e Kinzie) which has very little custom rom support and development support too.. Till now it has only Unofficial LineageOS14.1
Device Tree for Android 7.1 : https://github.com/lineageos-for-kinzie/android_device_motorola_kinzie
Vendor Tree for Android 7.1:
https://github.com/lineageos-for-kinzie/android_vendor_motorola_kinzie
I want to make this Device Tree compatible for Android 8.1 development but doesn't know where to start from.
If anybody can help and give his guidance then please share to this thread
I think it's best to start from the clark phone. LineageOS 15 is already out for clark and they have a very similar device tree.
