Google Camera 3.0 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've searched all over for the new google camera application (3.0) and I have found nothing except for a ported application that should be flashed through recovery (link below) is there another one specific for our Nexus that can maybe be installed directly as an APK or do I have to flash the one below through recovery?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-camera-v3-0-brand-features-t3232932

Unless it's on apkmirror.com or the Play Store I have reservations installing anything claiming to be Google. Considering this is a zip install, I have even more reservations that it's intentionally circumventing digital certificate validation- aka I wouldn't necessarily trust it's made by Google. It could be legit but it gives me pause.
If it is a zip file, unzip it and see if there's an apk inside. If so, upload the apk to virustotal.com to check it for viruses before doing anything with it.

It won't work since its built for the ARM x64 architecture, the OP on that post failed to realise that.

Yup. And both versions (ARM64 and ARM) are listed there. It's pretty slick and installed with no issues for me as well.

Well, I'm pretty firggin impressed... Low light pic in hdr mode from 11 months ago vs. A pic from tonight using the same device with new apk.
good day.

Thank u ! Done with it

Thanks for the heads up. I'm liking this new camera app.

I don't see the option for Burst photos in the app, is that a limitation with the Nexus 5 hardware?

No burst mode nor slow motion

Maybe with Google's implementation, but I've used burst mode in other camera apps with great success.
EDIT: Camera Zoom FX is what I used.

slowmo i can understand since probably the camera isn't shooting enough fps to achieve that, but burst probably could have worked

To clarify, does it initially open with the front camera so that you can use gtalk video, or does it open with the back camera so you can't use the gtalk video chat feature? Thanks!

Before you install that version of gapps read the last part of this. Bottom line is 0503 gapps is not compatible with Tegra devices. http://goo-inside.me/gapps/
Not working...help?
Hey guys. I installed the latest gapps install as posted above, but google talk seems to not be any different. No video icon is displayed for contacts that I know have video capability and the Settings menu doesn't reflect having any video related options. I have a friend who owns a Nexus S with stock Gingerbread and can use google talk + vid. I also have a separate google account with a web cam. In both scenarios, I can see the other person and we can hear each other fine, but the recipient can't see me. I can see myself in the self-viewer window, so that must mean the video data isn't being sent right. Any ideas?
I'm using Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 RC1 Experimental ROM on a MyTouch 4g (HTC Glacier).
EDIT: NVM. I installed 20110613. I automatically went with the latest. Either my phone isn't supported for one reason or another or the gtalk + video isn't included in the latest gapps package. Am I missing something/confused here?
The newb needs to update his post. GTalk works, but video is not supported.

did ya read the qualifier on that page...."but does not include the new Google Talk with video chat due to there being no compatible library available for non-ARM7 and non-neon board devices, from Google or another OEM. This package should work on all 2.3.4 ROMs, and has the latest Android Market update in it, which includes in-app purchase support."
Not sure if thats the answer you're looking for.....
Now that Moto Atrix 4g finally has 2.3.4 (first Tegra 2 phone) maybe we can get a hold of GTalk 2.3.4 w/ Video chat support
Link is broken
You need 20110603 GAPPS and then flash a fix. Its in the Apps thread.
MIUI has it working out of the box btw. Tested it before I left this morning.

[Q] cm10.1 photosphere

I just put cm10.1 on my S3 and it is working pretty well except for it doesn't have photosphere. I installed gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip from goo.im/gapps. I also tried installing a bunch of other camera/gallary zips I found around the web and while some of them gave me photosphere, the camera would freeze after one picture. Gallery would also often give me errors opening, and the camera app would sometimes say it was unable to find the camera.
I am back to gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip but would really love to have photosphere, any idea what can be done to get it?
Thanks.
You typically won't find photosphere in gapps packages because that only works (properly?) on Nexus devices.
If you look around though on this site you will find photosphere installs that work. I believe they work with limitations though, not perfectly.

Well I used to have it working before going to cm10.1 when I was just using the samsung stock rom rooted. I tried the same zip I used back then and that didn't work but I'm guessing that was because if was meant for 4.1.

Google camera mod

Hello, anyone installed modded Google camera at XZ Premium?
It doesn't work, it requires Camera2 API (I think full mode) which is not supported by the XZp.
I read somewhere that SONY uses a modified version of the API which is why it causes the Google Camera app to crash.
https://source.android.com/devices/camera/versioning
This explains everything. But I am not quite sure which one Sony actually using. AFAIK it's legacy.
Edit: Yes it is Legacy.

https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Software-Updates/Camera2-API/m-p/974754#M21577
I read that we can custom enable camera2api, but from recovery mode, anyone tried it?
Thing is there's an issue with the camera with unlocked bootloader. They're working on a DRM fix for unlocked bootloader.
But what's this custom enable cameraAPI2? cause I really wanna enable that so we get full control over. But I highly doubt we will be able to.

So if you have phone rooted and u want to install camera 2 api with some guides about it, on the xzp will not work properly? For works it must have a modded camera 2 api from xda develpers?
Edit: and if we install magisk and the relative camera 2 api module?

The camera2 api is enabled by default (it was on my device) on XZP, but they limited the functionality for 3rd-party apps. RAW is not supported and the resolution is limited @ 8,3MP (back) and @ 13MP (front). I didn't found a way to brake the limits. I have no idea if it's possible.
Not all 3rd party apps are limited. FV-5 (force legacy drivers), open camera, a better camera, Camera ZOOM FX
Google open sources deeplap v3 technology
Hey guys Google open sources deeplap v3 in github
Can anyone use this repository and create a camera mod for Xperia XZ Premium if possible??.

Thanks in advance
Hi KGV! you made my Day!
The devs here on Sony's XDA either are paid by Sony, either Sony's employees, either lazy, either they have bought Samsung phones, either Sony really encrypted their software.
Don't expect something like this.
Hat down for Storm, Turbo and Munjeni.

Dude but what can we do for portrait mode??
It would be awesome if it works
(Don't say me to edit pics in snapseed nor picsart for portrait)
I am not a big fan of portrait mode, but I really think Sony's Bionz camera software is better than Google HDR + at least for our sensor.
Instead of running for fantasies, maybe you try to learn how our Bionz works. You wont be dissapointed.
Now a good thing will be to port XZ2 camera to our XZP.

Google Camera 4.2 w/ Raw support.

So after tinkering with this phone for quite awhile! With the help of another developer, we now have a decent working port of google camera for the razer phone. Portrait mode is not working in this version because portrait was introduced in version 5.1 and later. Also the razer phone has hardcoded front camera2 as legacy so there is no raw support so you will never get selfie portrait to work. Hopefully razer will remove this hardcode in Pie, but it's very unlikely. I have sold my phone so there will be no more development from me on this, I'm simply sharing back and actually CARING to have a decent camera!
First and foremost, you need to root your device and unlock the bootloader (recommended but does not have to), then replace all these chromatix files for color fix, using a file explorer of your type. I highly recommend Solid Explorer:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1EreYInGhkaN08aay3StpHra1gluN9rUJ
After you replace the libs, install the apk and shoot. Modified to have locked 35 frames in all conditions, with raw so you can edit these amazing pictures afterwards.

There's no way you get a Camera Error. Are you on the latest firmware for the Razer? I did this multiple times... I don't have the stock bc I sold it already as mentioned. You can do a factory reset or reflash the rom.
Works very well and seems to stable. Been using it for two weeks now and taken ~200 photos with HDR without a single crash.
Thanks for you work!

Question Portrait mode processing takes decades

Hi Guys,
Hope you all doing well.
So, I purchased an unlocked Pixel 7 Pro and got it delivered yesterday.
All seems good except camera which is very, very disappointing so far (obviously, the phone has the latest updates)
For example, no matter what picture I take in portrait mode, it takes 1-1.5 minutes (!!) to process it to add the blur which is insane as my 2 years old Notes 10 Ultra processes blur in 1-2 seconds. How is this even possible?
Do you guys have the same issue with portrait mode? I want to make sure its not my phone.
Also, I was reading that it is possible to add a blur to unprocessed picture from Google Photos but that option is simply missing from the menu no matter what picture I open.
For instance, Samsung Gallery app does add blur to all these unprocessed pictures so its not the picture itself. Google Photos simply doesn't have that option, its missing.
Google Photos also doesn't have any option to unblur a picture as its also missing. The was apparently one of the "perks" of Pixel 7 Pro but that option is not even there.
Do you guys also experience all this?
If the portrait mode processing is faster for you, can any of you kindly extract your camera and google photo apk and post it here? I will install these instead. Thanks a lot!
Try a factory reset. mine takes 4 seconds tops
Didn't help.
I didn't mention that I am using GrapheneOS.
Tried to flash stock Google image - and Portrait mode processing worked as expected.
I pulled out the original Photo and Google Camera apks from stock Google image, then installed Graphene again and installed these - same results.
It seems there are some additional libraries in stock image that are responsible for processing and they need to be installed in Graphene to make it work as expected? I couldn't identify any though - there was one called Pixel Camera Services that I also installed but still no joy.

GrapheneOS is an OS not a mod, and Google Camera works on it for a few years now - it only requires GSF to run. There are many people on XDA who are using GrapheneOS on Pixel phones so its not a unique thing. I was hoping someone who is on it can advise if they experience the same issues.

Honestly, this topic is not about comparing phones - I own both and providing my feedback. Even with stock ROM, Pixel cannot match the capabilities of 2 years old Notes 20 Ultra - for example, Note 20 Ultra has real-time video background blur with different effects whilst Pixel's Cinematic mode doesn't offer many background effects and works much worse. Note 20 Ultra's portrait mode has much more different real-time effects, etc. But as I said this topic is not about comparing but trying to resolve a problem, so its pointless to write comments like this.
I took this one of my daughter just to see and mine did not have that problem. It processed quick quickly

It's pointless to write something is broken, and then ask people if theirs is broken too, while ignoring completely the fact that you're on a CUSTOM ROM while people are clearly saying "It's working" fine, yes, on stock ROM.
I'm not trying to argue now, but it's important to mention such stuff so people can actually "help" in a more "accurate" way instead of just writing "it works fine for me", while they're not using the same ROM as you do.
Peace

The issue you're having is not there in the stock ROM, something you didn't mention in your thread.
But I'll walk away because you're clearly ignoring the fact that you didn't mention here a KEY factor, because it's definitely the issue of your CUSTOM ROM and not stock ROM. So, don't get angry when you get responses like this.
