Unless you have the 3g version the phone call will be on your phone at the same time as the watch, and the only way to really answer it would be to be on your phone.

Yes, I'm sorry maybe I wasn't clear enough, my fault! When I receive a phone call the gear s2 gives on his screen 2 options: answer or refuse...I'd like to know if there is a way to click on answer and the phonecall starts on my phone on speakerphone so I can talk without handle it...

Not currently possible, but it's a great idea and Sammy should update it so that it can.

No but that would be great, currently just answer via the phone not speakerphone

Possible workaround is to turn on answering calls with voice commands (under accessibility) then saying 'answer' should automatically force the speaker. I haven't tested this and am unsure if this will work via the watch of course. You can always pretend Another option would be car mode but not the most practical.

Tested, and it doesn't work. Voice commands turns speaker on if I talk to my phone, but not if I talk to my watch. This really is a bummer, it would be nice if the phone is on the table, and I'm on the couch, for ex.
What's the purpose of answering through your watch if you still need to pick up the phone? Yeah I know, Bluetooth and all that, would still be nice though.

why i can't answer a call with my gear S2 as the apple watch without 3G, in this case it will act as a Bluetooth hands free speaker..............it is very disappointing

The reason is very simple: it is a Samsung Gear S2 with Tizen - not iOS

With the Gear 2 this is possible without any problem, provided by Samsung. They know how to do it, even with Tizen. How they manage there products is very strange sometimes.

[Q] Any way to pair bluetooth phone to tablet to answre calls?

I decided to just keep my simcard on my tab and was wondering if there was any way we can pair our bluetooth phone to the tab to answer calls? I've been just using the speakerphone for now.
Would be nice if we could use a bluetooth phone to answer calls from the tablet.
The only option we have so far is either a bluetooth handsfree device or a pocket talker ( Samsung HM5000 Pen Type Bluetooth 3.0 Headset).
Are you asking about Bluetooth earphones or a Bluetooth - enabled cordless phone? Certainly the earphones will work. If it's a phone you're asking about, and I guess it will depend on whether that phone has unusual requirements.

Question about answering call from the watch

I saw it on the video that when you get a phone call, the watch vibrates and have a green tab on the left to let you slide and take the call and a red tab on the right that let you reject call. But on my s2 classic , when I get the phone calls, I just see the reject call tab but not the answering tab, I know I can only speak on the phone but can I answer the phone on the watch speak on the phone?
Sorry for bad english
Yes you should be able to Reject and Answer calls directly through the watch. I have Accept in green on the left and Reject in red on the right side of my sport edition. Do you have it pair to a Samsung phone or other, not that that should make any difference.

Yes I can make calls on watch , already tried resetting the watch and still no luck
Mine is paired with a Samsung Edge+. I can answer phones just fine.
The green answer slider ONLY works on Samsung phones. I have a Nexus 5, and I definitely don't have the green slider. I'd like it cause my android wear watch has it, but it doesn't really do much, since you can't talk into the watch since there is no speaker to hear the other person. So, nice, but not terribly useful.
it might be different on the 4G watches that just hit, since you can talk and hear right from the watch..

I have an S2 4G on T-Mobile and it works fine with my Samsung Note 5. The 4G version should work fine with other android phones, that is what they are advertising. We will hear from lots of 4G owner very soon as the T-Mobile versions are up and running now.
I did not realize you don't get the green slider on the BT S2 when you are not using a Samsung phone.
Gotta chime in
I have been struggling with this for days now. On Nexus 6 with lollipop and Nexus 6P with gear s2 Verizon version, you cannot answer or make a call on your phone. the audio and mic will default to the watch as if it is a BT headset. this is very annoying. With all my other gears I have not had this problem. To answer the original question of the thread: go to BT on your phone and check phone audio on the BT settings for the gear s2. then you can receive and make calls. But, for my issue, Verizon does not know what's going on and sent me a new phone which does the same thing, then blames Samsung, who then blames Google's M, who then blames Huawei, who then blames Verizon. I have been instructed, now, to call higher level support with Samsung... Will give an update!

Go to your phone's BT settings; select the settings of your gear s2 and check the phone audio box.
nexus 6, rooted, with a custom rom, on T Mobile, zero issues making or receiving calls from the watch, either in Bluetooth mode or stand alone mode.
I also successfully paired my Moto Bt headset to the watch, so I can make and receive calls from the watch, with my bluetooth headset on!!
so far, everything works exactly as I hoped!

Not true, at least with the 4G models. It's worked just fine on my HTC M8 and my HTC 10. Very recently it stopped working (long after this thread was created), and I haven't done any major updates to my watch or ROM. So it must be something else, at least for some of us.
Edit: And... Now it works again. Very weird.

Gear s3 with other smartphones

Good morning,
Do you know if Gear S3 will have all its functions paired with an Android that is not from Samsung?
Or is it only with a Samsung mobile that all functions are active?
I'm using mine with an iPhone 5S, with the Gear Manager Beta for IOS.
Thank you!
Had it paired with an Asus phone, now with the Oneplus 3T. Did not find anything not working!

Sorry, my English is not very good, if I understand, you said that both in Asus and OnePlus all the functions work with on a Samsung Smartphone?
Yes
The S3 Frontier works flawlessly with my LG G5.
Exactly what does "limited capability" (from Samsung's web site) for calls, messaging, email, wifi sync mean? I have a Gear S3 with a Samsung S7 Edge, but am trying to convince a friend who has an LG V20 what a great watch this is... thanks for any info!
Is there any way to make phone calls directly from the gear using a non Samsung phone? Or Cyanogenmod?

Well I just tested the calling options:
With bluetooth on and connected to my LG G5, it dials it from my phone but uses the watch's speaker and mic.
With bluetooth off and connected via the watch's sim, I can make and receive calls using only the watch.
I am using the default dialer on both the watch and the phone. Hope that helps...
Have you tried it with a bluetooth headset on a phone not Samsung? I and many others have serious problems because the bluetooth headset disables the Bluetooth "call profile" of Gear !!!
So the use of gear excludes the use of bluetooth headphones including the car handsfree !!!

This was my experience as well with my Moto Z. The messages app was gone after pairing to the Moto. At least on my S3 Frontier LTE, the text messages are a little finicky (delays in showing up, no notifications at all) so this was a deal breaker for me. I switched back to my Note 4.
looks to work well with some phones, but seems not for all of rooted roms :'(
and on my oneplus2 (stock rom) can't find the Gear S app !! (just the Samsung accessory and Gear S Plugin)....
Hi Guys
i have note 2 rooted with Eclipse V9 rom which is android version 4.4.4 and want to buy S3 gear. can some one please confirm if it will work with my phone or not. Thanks in Advance.

Do I have to be soft and sweet when telling him the truth here on xda? If telling someone the truth straight up is so mean and offensive to you than maybe you shouldn't be on the internet
The feature he wants(answering the phone using his preferred dialer app on the cover screen ) isn't supported on this device. Either use the app that supports the feature he wants or deal with the fact that he has to open his phone to answer the phone. Those are his options, unless you have another solution
I too was surprised by your tone - it seemed unnecesary to me, plus the fact you answered but didn't offer a solution. We don't need to be soft and sweet - just correct. If you spoke like that to a stranger in real life, it wouldn't end well...
Actually, zorantomas' post is the solution - so you dial out with True Phone, and incoming calls are handled via the Samsung phone app. That works, you can answer from the small display directly, and use the True Phone UI to make calls.
In short I doubt we will ever see 3rd part widgets for the small display since there will be security concerns about what is displayed without having to unlock the device, and it's a capability for - atm - a single product line.
