Hello all ,
I received a proposition by Poetic to test the new Affinity Case for our Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge + so there is my review.
After three weeks of use, I can give a full review of the Affinity Case for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus by Poetic.
Design:
First of all, I have to admit that the crystal clear style is just perfect to see all the beauty of the S6 Edge Plus, it's really a good point as I don't like cases that hide all the phone.
Protection:
There is a full TPU protection aroud the case, with bumper corner to decrease the shock when the phone fall on the ground.
I must say that's very important for me as I have a little daughter and she likes to take my phone to watch her cartoons. And this could lead to little accidents with my phone on the floor:s.
With this case I don't fear this issue and I feel it very resistant, not as resistant as a UAG case but it's enough for most of the fall.
Hands-on:
There are grips all around the case, to have a better grip and don't let it fall during use. It's very comfortable under the finger and on the hand.
Connections:
The cut to plug the phone are well cut, and there is no issue with different kind of connector.
I also tried to charge my phone on wireless charger and it works very well too.
Conclusion:
It's quite classy and quite solid so I may say it's a very good choice for those who wants thin protection and resistant to shocks.
The quality is very good and it's a great case. So for the price no hesitation, it's a very good option.

I REALLY like the looks of this case... right now I have a UAG because it was all I could get, and I wasn't about to go around un-protected. So far all the sleek looking ones that i see (like many Spigen or whatever) look like they offer no protection. That TPU seems important.... this looks like the case I may get next....

BTW good choice for a good case. I like it very much.

It looks like it offers the same amount of protection as the UAG I have, but it isn't ugly as sin. Which one is that, the black/clear one correct? nevermind, it clearly is that one...

Yes it's the black clear. It's a good protection, I must say UAG is a better protection but larger, and uglier that's sure. If you don't have kids that throw your phone on the floor saying "Daddy I tried to give you your phone, I'm sorry", it's far enough protection

From the reviews, its missing a cutout for microphone on top of the phone next to the sim tray. Can you confirm? And is that one for noise cancelling?

THE problem is as yet there doesn't appear to be a tempered screen that works with the S6Edge+. I have tried about five, there is a complete thread in this section dedicated to this very subject. I also own the Affinity case and can assure you that to date no glass screen protector would stay fixed while using that case.

I wonder what you guys are using for screen protector as my spigen is not sticking as long as I am using the Affinity case, thinking of tempered glass as well but seems there isn't any good choice so far
Just got it and realized that it doesn't have the top mic hole...

Diztronic has been a favorite case manufacturer of mine for some time. With the release of the Galaxy S4, Diztronic released their line of cases for it. As usual, the Galaxy S4 Diztronic case is well made and the fit is all but perfect. With eight different colors and shades available, you are sure to find one that fits your tastes. At only $9.99 with Amazon Prime shipping, this case is truly a steal.

Thanks. I have the matte black on an actual phone and the bottom mic cutout is perfectly aligned and centered unlike in your video (which you make mention of). Just an FYI. Best S4 case out right now.

Would be a nice case if the matte black wasn't gloss black in the front.
Just received this case - it's fantastic.
Feels great, fixes the 'slimy' feel of the S4. Fits very well, all cutouts are perfectly positioned and I like that it covers the buttons as well. They're not too tough to hit either.

Sorry to hear you don't like the design choice, I personally think the glossy lip is what makes the case look so great!
Regarding mic hole positioning, it's spot on (at least on every case I've tested). If yours is centered you simply need to re-seat the case, it doesn't always go on straight since it's a flexible material.
Diztronic style is rather simple, I do like simple product.

I agree. Love the glossy lip. Have used your cases on my Evo 3D, Optimus G, HTC One, and S4. Great job on all of them!
Did it come with screen protector?

I personally wouldn't recommend these cases at all. My experience appears to be somewhat of an isolated one, but it fell waist-high on concrete and shattered my Galaxy Nexus. If you think dropping your phone is even a possibility I wouldn't get this case, and if you don't think you'd drop your device then why get a case?

Thin/minimalistic cases help to prevent everyday wear and tear on the phone, small scratches, scuff marks, etc. I am not expecting this case to prevent my phone's screen from cracking if I drop it onto concrete (I don't think it was designed for that and the manufacturer has certainly never claimed that). However, I don't drop my phone so that's not really a concern. I do expect this case though to prevent minor scratches and keep the phone protected from everyday wear and tear and so far, it has performed perfectly in that regard.
OneStepAhead: Do you have any plans for making Diztronic cases with ridged surfaces? It seems like one of the most common criticisms is that the smooth finish makes the case slippery. Thanks

Just a note, but I've never thought it was slippery. Yeah it's not tacky like some may come to expect, but this is also what makes it nicer than most other tpu cases.

I would use a razor blade. I usually heat it up to help it glide through the TPU.
I have owned Diztronic cases for every phone I've ever owned since they started making thjem back as TPU Cases.
For a simply wonderfully protective non bulky case there is nothing better IMHO..and I have bought plenty of other cases to try them.
I have arthritis in both thumbs...I drop things including phones. I have dropped every phone I have owned numerous times and never once have I had anything break in a TPU case from these folks...be it on the ceramic floor in the kitchen, wood floors in the dining room or on pavement in the driveway or on the road.
Could you break a phone dropping it in one of these? Of course if it falls just right. I bet you I have dropped my S3, No9te 2 and now my S4 at least two dozen times between them and nothing has broken or bent. Nada.
They fit to perfection as well.
They certainly aren't slippery...course I am always using the mat black variety.

i just PM'd him asking if that would be an option later down the road. Of course I sent it before searching this thread smh
i guess a razor blade would work pretty easy... If i do it, ill post up pics afterwards.
Had this case for the LG Optimus G, but I do not like how it doesn't cover around the camera area, unlike the UAG cases...
Just tried this case with my Spigen Glas.tr and it doesn't work. The bezel of the case comes too far onto the phone. So the case is kind of bulging out from the sides of the phone because it's hitting the edge of the screen protector. This makes hitting the power button and volume buttons more difficult.
A while ago I saw my friends case on her S4. It was the UAG case in an orange/grey color combo. She's had it a couple of months. It looked pretty cool, so iI asked her how she likes it.
Her response was that she likes it a lot.
I then asked her if she's ever dropped her S4. Her response was:
"Oh yeah, I drop it all the time."
That's exactly what I like to hear when determining whether I want to give a particular case a go
I liked the look of her case, but didn't know how it would hold up to drops regarding protecting the S4. I had been using a Cygnett WorkMate Evolution case for a month or so. I like it, but the UAG is a slimmer and better looking case, but I was unsure if it would protect my S4.
Well, I had my answer, as she 'drops it all the time," and her S4 is intact.
I purchased the UAG in black yesterday from Amazon and just received it today.
Here's my opinion so far:
- really nice looking case, minimalistic, yet protective
- fits the S4 perfectly. Snug as a bug in a rug, as they say
- generous usb and earphone plug ports
- volume and power buttons have an excellent/responsive/clickie feel to them.
- nice lip for screen facedown protection
- corner protective bumpers incorporate into the layout and total look of the case very well
- has a very nice feel in hand. Imo, can use a little grippier feel, but as I've only just received this case a few hours ago, I'll give it some time. I'm coming from the Cygnett WorkMate Evolution case, which is bulkier and grippier, so as I said, I'll know better in a couple of days regarding whether the not as grippy feel will be a factor.
- while the metallic UAG branding on the back of the case is of high quality, I'd rather have it blackened instead of the matt metallic it is now. I pay enough money for the case that I don't have to be a walking billboard for the UAG Company. I'll wait a bit, but I may dye the matt metallic to a darker color. Maybe not.....
- the UAG has now replaced my Cygnett as my EDC....
- protects my friend's S4 after 'dropping it all the time.'
After purchasing the UAG, and prior to receiving it today, I watched the linked video below, which also confirmed the protection of this case.
I also linked to Amazon, which shows the available colors.

I hated the Neo Hybrid too. I ended up keeping it because I forgot to fill out the return form Ahaha
I have the black UAG (Looks badass with the black s4), the orange (looks cool, I'll admit that, but in person and on your phone it looks a bit obnoxious) and the blue (I havent been using it that much, just love how sleek the black case is)
Actually have a hot pink one for the wifey's iphone 4 ( yes our house is divided haha) thats pretty cool.
I have the OD green for the s3 too and really wish they'd make an s4 version.

A month or so before getting the UAG case or any case, as I always went caseless, I ordered the glass tR I believe it was. I returned it because I decided to order a caseionly, and take my chances that the screen wouldn't take a direct hit to a corner or an edge of something.
At the time, I decided nottto oder the Slim because I thought it was too thin, and wouldn't protect the screen as well as the thicker protector. This was confirmed by SGP in response to an email I sent.
I think the Slim was .15mm, and the tR was .40mm and the glas t is .25mm without round corners if I remember correctly.
With the above being said, how does the UAG screen lip height and Glas t protector height match up?
I have been reading lots of posts in XDA trying to decide what my case should be. I bought the Incipio dual layer case just to get me by until I did some more research.
All of my other phones have had Seidio active case/ holster combos. They have been really good cases
I have been thinking of trying something different this time
The UAG is on the top of my list
Im in construction so I need to have a case that can withstand my environment. I have dropped my Rezound with the Seido case from about 10' on concrete multiple times and nothing ever happened to it.
Do you guys think it can hold up like the Sedio case does?
I remember seeing someones post in another topic in XDA that the UAG case will fit the Seido holster
Can anyone confirm this?
I also want to get a desktop charger for the phone, Is anyone with a UAG using a desktop charger, if so what charger are you using?
I have seen lots of people talking about screen protection and getting a case that has the front clear protector such as the otterbox. Im not sure why people think that a clear plastic cover would stop the screen from breaking, besides the screen is gorilla glass 3, if that screen takes a hit hard enough to break it, a thin layer of plastic wont make any difference other then to keep all the tiny pieces of glass from flying all over the place
Thanks for any info you guys might have
@Hitch_Itch
I can't answer all of your questions as I've not had experience with the accessories you've asked about, but the following will answer some of your questions:
- I have no doubt that the UAG will not fulfill your requirements for your environment.
- the UAG can survive up to a 6' drop, as per the videos, but I'm not sure if it would be on a consistent basis.
- my opinion would be that you would need a case that offered Full wrap protection such as the model you mentioned, that you dropped from 10' without issue. The UAG wrapped S4 would no doubt suffer massive injuries from that height
- in your environment, there would most likely be drops from even short distances were the S4 would hit an edge, corner, etc., land on its screen which would crack it, as the UAG case does not have a built in full wrap screen protector incorporated into it. As you mention, the screen protector would only protect against scratches.
- no way can the UAG hold up under extreme conditions such as the Seido case can.
This is because the UAG case is not meant to be. It doesn't fall under the Extreme Environment, Full Wrap, Closed Ports Umbrella, so to speak. That is a whole nutha subset of cases for quite different needs/requirements.
- If one is looking for an everyday case with a minimalist footprint, that is lightweight, easily slid into a pocket, offers adequate protection from drops normally encountered during everyday use, and is aesthetically appealing, I highly recommend the UAG. But for Extreme Environment survival, I don't recommend it for the reasons I mentioned earlier.
As is said, the right tool for the right job. Or something like that
While looking at the UAG, I came across many cases. One of theseccases was the Griffin Survivor.
I said to myself if I ever need a case to protect my S4 under the most of Extreme conditions, this is the case I'd take a serious look at and most likely purchase. I'm posting a link to it:

I just watched a bunch of video's on drop test for the UAG and in every video the screen cracked at a fall above 5'
Also watched a bunch of videos for the otter box and the Trident case drop tests, both protected the phone and some of the videos were a 50' toss down a set of concrete stairs.
Sounds like the UAG might not be the best case for me.
Thanks for the reply
A great case, I've dropped this phone from several angles between 5 and 6 feet and no problems. It's small and durable.I love it

Well, it's been a week since I received my UAG in Black for my S4.
I'll keep this short & sweet, as I posted in detail my observations about this case.
The UAG is definitely a keeper and am impressed with it.
As for the case maybe not being as grippy as I'd like, and I was going to let some time pass to see if it would be an issue, it's no issue at all. The case is not slippery at all, and offerers a good hold.
I haven't dropped the S4 yet, so I can't given you any feedback on drop protection, except what I wrote in my op.

Have ever had the Incipio dualpro case?
If so how does the Uag compare to it?
Hi guys,
i own a Ringke Fusion for my Nexus 5 and i'm happy about the protection and also with the feel that the case gives to the phone! Unfortunately there are some negatives things.
After some months of use the TPU that surrounds the case turns yellow and this is the first issue, and i noticed that the case has some parts where the dust enters (near the speakers and also on the top of the phone). These are the two issues of the case because in the end it is a good case!
I'd like to have some advice for another case possibly with the same style (clear back, shock absorption) i was looking to the Ultra Hybrid by Spigen....are there similar problem also on this case? However i accept any advice also for other cases!
Thanks in advance
If you want one with a clear back definitely go with the tech21. I have one it's awesome. I prefer my spigen slim armor though. Also the nexus 4 replica bumper for the n5 is really awesome, not super protective though. The slim armor makes me feel safer if I were to drop it. My problem with clear back cases is they seem to get scratched and then look like crap. That's why when I want something slim I use the n4 replica.
If you can compromise with clear back, go for spigen cases...

@Lokke9191 well the tech21 case seems really good...but it's too expensive..i'm happy with the protection of the Ringke (i dropped the phone a couple times and it hasn't any damage)...thanks for the advice! Maybe in future i will buy the tech21 that seems amazing!
@jaj473 i want the clear back because i like to see the back of my phone! however i'd like to buy the spigen...can you confirm that it hasn't the problem of the Ringke? Like the problems that i described in the first post..
Then guys are there only these cases with clear back? (I mean tech21 and spigen besides the Ringke) or are there other cases? Sorry for double posting but i need to buy the case as soon as possible!

If it's not a lot I will buy equally.. Because is also one of the main problems that the ringke fusion has..

Pretty sure dust is even more of an issue with the Spigen, according to what users have been saying for months. It has even bigger gaps.
You had the all clear Fusion case right? Only the clear TPU will yellow, not the clear by acrylic BTW.

Ok thanks for your warning.. In fact I remembered that I bought the ringke because the spigen had some issues.. However also in the ringke the dust is an horrible issue.. It enters from the speakers are and also from 3.5 hole.. As for the yellow yes only the tpu turned yellow the clear back is still good and not yellow.. What's your advice about a new cover?

Many options out there, I'm sure you can choose one for yourself better than I ever could.
I just know when I was comparing the Ringke Fusion and Spigen Hybrid, they're pretty similar but the Spigen is bigger in your hand, has slightly bigger gaps (holes for dust), and the buttons don't click nice like the Ringke. On the other hand it's built better than the Ringke (less defects in the molding) but also costs twice as much.
At this point I've put my Ringke away and just use a $2 Quicksand case for added grip (eBay). This is a thin case that won't protect from serious damage though, just lets you hold the phone easier so I don't feel I will ever drop it anymore. I should say I have the white N5 though which is slippery compared to the black N5's soft touch coating.

Thanks for the detailed reviews.. I like the style of ringke (and also spigen).. My ringke protected my phone a lot then i want to stick with a cover like this! I was thinking to take a fake spigen ultra hybrid on aliexpress what do you think?

You should take a look at the Official LG Case. It's hands down the most minimal case I've ever used or seen. Same type of feeling as the Nexus 5 back. Plus, it has a nice LG logo to show off.

I hate dust, but unfortunately every case I have used has that issue. I'm currently using the nexus 4 replica case with a dbrand skin and a glass screen protector. I really like the way it looks. I'm hoping the protection is fine, since the sides/corners are covered by the case, the front by the glass SP, and the back by the skin.
Spigen cases ftw. I'm using the slim armor case from spigen. AWESOME

Spigen Ultra Hybrid not as bad as you might think!!!
Spigen did release a revised Ultra Hybrid case to "counter" the dust.
Which is what I have, it's a tighter fit and was offered as a replacement to some for free.
The dust that gets trapped is barely anything, and if it does trap a decent amount (after like a week). You can easily blow it out!
The back took a while to get used to, but I love the feel, shape, look and how Premium it seems.
Well guys...now i'm really confused...i don't know what to do...i don't think that i will buy a case like the official LG...i want a case that can protect my phone (like Ringke Fusion, Spigen Ultra Hybrid or Tech21)...i have a Ringke Fusion but the "yellow" tpu issue and the dust convinced me to change cover..now i noticed the Spigen Ultra Hybrid...but someone told that it takes a lot of dust..instead @Valdorous tells that there is a revision of the case where there isn't a lot of dust...i can tell also that i'd like to try some fake chinese Spigen Ultra Hybrid...well i really don't know what to do

We've all been there.
Your case will always have "something" or... miss "something".
I recommend looking at your options, from what I can tell you've mentioned "Tech21" and the Spigen Ultra Hybrid.
Which are really similar (from what I could see briefly looking on google images).
An idea would be to look at some of the armoured cases, Spigen is quite good with these.
But as always, watch out for the fakes. (Not all are bad though...)

Tech 21 is a great protective case. Only downside is its clear back scratches easily as their are no feet to raise it up from the surface it has been placed on.
Unfortunately there are no perfect cases, but all of the ones you mentioned sure do come close.
I can't seem to find a sturdy case (like the Otterbox) for the 6p. I like the Spigen (Rugged Armor) and the SUPCASE Unicorn Beetle case but they just don't offer the protection I'm looking for. I saw a possible alternative by i-Blason and a few others but there seems to be an issue with the case where it reboots the phone or it won't let you take screenshots. I drop my phone way too often and the 6p is big and slippery to begin with. So do any of you guys have any good sturdy alternatives or know of Otterbox will ever make a case for the Nexus 6p? Thanks!

I have the I-blason case for my 6P just like I have for my Note 3. While I can take screen shots but sometimes I have to make 2 attempts. My problem with the i-Blason is that my hinge connecting the top piece (the one that covers the screen broke off so not there is no solid connection between the top piece and the piece at covers the back of the phone. I am still using the top piece to protect the face when it is in my pocket or in a bag containing other things like keys.

Hey thanks for the reply! How sturdy is the case overall and how long did it last before the hinge broke? Was it normal wear and tear? Thanks.
While not available until next month, the Rhino Crash Guard & Shield will provide better protection than virtually anything else out there.
My advice would be to preorder it now, and get something cheap in the meantime. That's what I did.

You're very welcome! It is very sturdy thanks to the hard plastic spine that supports the rubber piece that into which you place the phone. I have the i-Blason case for my Note 3 (2 years no issue) but with that version, the piece that covers the screen connects to the other piece (containing the phone) by sliding over rather than by the latch that 6P version uses. It snapped about a week . The 2 pieces still fit together fairly snuggly (but I would trust dropping it and expecting the two pieces to stay together....so not clipping it to my belt). Eventually, I always evolve to using the only the bottom piece which protects the phone (as long as the phone doesn't fall on an uneven surface) but that might take longer with the 6P than with my Note 3.

Thanks. The one I saw on their website was the bumper case? Is that the one you were referring to or another model? And how's the protection of the case if the device falls flat? Thanks.

There will be a bumper, screen protector, and something new for the back. But the bumper should be sufficient to protect the face and back when dropped on flat surfaces. But not if the back or screen lands on a rock or something.
Do a search on YouTube and you'll find some pretty incredible videos.

Here is the link for the one I got http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015X6FAE6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00 I have attached a photo where you can see the little piece that broke off that served as a point of attachment between the top and the bottom pieces (kind of like a clip you pull and a little piece disengages from the notch when you wanted to pull out the phone) . It does have a bumper which will allow the for protecting the screen from falls onto flat surfaces like floors or sidewalks (as long as there is no pebble LOL). When I contacted the company, they apologized but just refunded $5 out of $14.95. I also like the protection against possible bending afforded by the spine.

Thank you so much!! It's good to know it has the bumper. I'm surprised that they didn't give a full refund but hey its better than nothing and its good to know that they have a customer support that responds. I have a i-Blason case on my Galaxy Tab that has done the job so far.

They are sending one to me to review and I should have it sometime this week. I'll also let you guys know if it fits in any of the holsters that I have right now. I'm more interested in if the carabiner can be taken off or not.
OutterBox is one of my favorite site. You can't find quality like it.
Hey guys! Thank you all for your responses. Poetic Revolution is sending me units to test out and review on the forum. I will post a detailed review for all of you once the case arrives and I have used it enough for a honest and thorough review.
Anyone with the variety of clear cases care to chime in on what they recommend? I'm leaning towards the spigen ultra hybrid. Mainly due to the name brand but curious of some others out there. I ordered a frost and want to show off the styling! I know clear cases can be iffy so wanted some opinions.

I think there are a lot of threads on cases but I also appreciate the idea that it's sometimes hard to sift through them all.
I'll sum one up for you - The Nillkin Nature TPU case seems to be very popular. You have to order it from Hong Kong on eBay. I got mine and it is GREAT with one serious flaw in my opinion. It has a plastic flap over the USB power port. It is 100% TPU and very thin, adds almost nothing to the phone. That in turn means it doesn't afford a lot of protection. It does come in a clear version. I got the grey version for my Graphite 6P and cut off the USB power port flap. This makes it slightly imperfect which bugs me a bit. USB flap aside, it's a great case.
Thanks for the info. Yeah I was hesitant start a new convo for it cause I know there are a lot of general case posts, but I thought since clear cases are a thing of their own, itd be nice to have a go to post for those of us interested in them.

I have the Spigen ultra hybrid. Solid case - doesn't feel flimsy like other clear TPU cases. The lip is slightly raised on the front so that the screen wouldn't touch the surface when face down. This case had an issue in the beginning where it looked like there was a small crack near the fingerprint sensor opening (not a crack but it looks like one). They may have fixed it since then. The only complaint i have is that the entire camera black bar is exposed with this case instead of just the area where the lens and laser focus are.
I've tried Spigen ultra hybrid and the neo hybrid ex. Case-mate is the best one. There is a convo about it in the Spigen Neo hybrid ex post.

Yeah the whole opening of the black bar I didn't like as well as the like square outline on the back. Otherwise it looked pretty nice. I ended up going with this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0168DHS1Q/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_CFuGwbXHQ21PE. Looks minimal, easy to take on and off, and slim. We'll see. I wanted to have a case here ready for my phone so needed a prime option. I'll post back on my opinion when I get on the phone.

Just got an Orzly Fusion Bumper case (or something like that). Very nice clear case, boutons are not covered which is very nice, and there is a black color on the sides which mean when you look at screen, edges are also black
Don't know if sides are transparent on other black-sided cases (like Ringke smoke black) but here, it's not.
Any clear case with a logo on it is an instant no-buy for me.
I'm happy with my redSHIELD clear case (Amazon Link)
It's one of the few I found that doesn't have a logo *anywhere* on it. It's a good clear TPU case for the money (likely the same case Orzly uses for its Flexicase). The only minus point is that the power and volume buttons are a bit squishy and harder to press than the actual buttons, but I rarely need to press them.
I am quite happy with the Ringke fusion clear case, it doesn't have the best compatibility with skins like Dbrand or Slickwraps because it has a snug fit but it lets you cut layouts to put between the phone and the case much like the old Nokia 3100
This is slightly unrelated, but how do you guys carry around your nexus 6p with these clear cases? I mean in the pocket? I have the spigen clear case and the case is fine, but every time I slide the phone in my pocket it gets a lot of lint on the front exposed side of the phone. Maybe a wallet style case ?

I don't know if it will help against the lint, but the screen protector is always a good idea. My phone screen is lint free with a SP on it. Lint does accumulate in the gap between SP and case. Some ppl get lint in camera holes, but I haven't.

I love my Spigen Ultra Hybrid.
Nillkin Nature for me! Good for protection in your pockets against debris, not for drops though!
Supcase is nice. A little stiff but it looks nice and is more protective than most of the clears I believe. And the ringke fusion is really nice and softer. It looks great but a bit thinner than the supcase. I have them both.
Famous brand always have high quality but designers won't pay much attention to customers,if they can hear our voices,it will be great!
I've got a Ringke smoke black one. No problems.
