Now that you have received your phone what settings have you changed? - LG V10 General

I just got my v10 and I was wondering what have you guys done to your device so far? Also how do you go about debloating this device?

I change; ringtone, notification tone, wallpapers, clock widget, signature, set unknown sources, enable developer mode, disable smart notice, disable Google verify and customize call settings.
For easy debloat I just go into apps and disable what I don't use.

I deleted or disabled whatever apps that I will never use that I could get rid of.
I changed notification & ring tones, wallpaper. But my biggest change is reaci g the launcher with Apex pro launcher, and adding side app bar to replicate the sidebar I had on GS4.

Disable notification badges

I just found this out
disabling the badges is up to you. For most people it's convenient. But to a select few it might be distracting, annoying, ugly , whatever.
ALSO if you longer see badges and you want to see them again skip my little story \/
I disable notifications for text because my friends don't know what privacy is . But they still find out that I have new messages. They're badges on the launcher, app drawer, notification bar when you pull it down and look at your recent apps and when you hold home. Even if you disable notifications there is still a small badge that tells you how many txt, emails, etc you have. I found a way to turn that stupid **** off.
If you use ADW (could be any third party launcher I still haven't tried any other out) the badges obviously disappear from the app drawer . But they also disappear from the notification bar and when you hold home . The only place they still show up is the lock screen. I download widget locker but you can do whatever. Also if you noticed that your counter badges disappeared uninstalling (if any) third party launchers could fix that.

Just don't let your mates use your phone! Or put a pattern lock on
Or just get the facial recognition App. Then they won't be able to get into anything

facial recognition app?
Maybe I'm a bit lost. What do you mean by "Notification badges" with the stock Sense, I never remember seeing ANY notifications other than on the lock screen and notification bar.
To disable messages on the lockscreen, go to Settings -> Privacy -> Uncheck display message text.
And personally, I think your friends suck. If they're the kinds of people who would snoop over your phone to see what they are doing then I wouldn't invite them over. Just password lock your phone, and don't give it to them, it's that simple.

Android Lollipop lock screen notifications

Hey
I have moto g with android lollipop 5.0.1
I want to have some notifications on the lockscreen, like call, sms and messager, but not gmail notification. And i want that it appear in the regular notification bar when it unlock.
How this is possible?
As far as I know, the notification bar and the lockscreen notifications are the same thing. You can block an app in Settings -> Sound and notification but it will affect both of them. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct..
I would like only the most important notifications (call sms and messager) to show up on lock screen
Maybe a new launcher from the Play store can help you. Sadly I have never tried any of them so I can't recommend one.

Disable sms and email preview

Hello
I use built-in sms and gmail apps
What annoys me is preview of messages and emails in top drop down area
What is a point of locking apps with eg fingerprint when content may be read in notification area?
Is any way to disable this "feature"
Thanks!
Have you tried notifications settings for specific apps? Or you can just disable notifications content on lockscreen completely. Search notifications in settings and you should find these.

Of course I tried this
In "Notifications" I have:
Allow notifications
Show on status bar
Banners
Notifications on lockscreen
Priority
Sound
Wibrations
No change of any abowe turns off previews
Don't think it's possible to disable notifications previews in notifications section.
You can disable them on lockscreen.
I guess locking with fingerprint is so someone can't access and use the application directly. Looks like another missing android feature that we should have.
What I can suggest is to disable notifications in notifications tab, leave sound / vibration on and notification badge in the app icon. Set lockscreen settings to hide content.

Unable to set custom notification sounds

Has anyone run into this issue with the newest global beta? I went through the normal google settings restore process and not I don't have any option to change device specific notification sounds.
I cannot get notification sounds set by application on MiUI 10 either...
Since android pie my mix 2s has lost the option in a lot of apps to change to a custom ringtone.
For example i use outlook app for my email and there is an option for a custom ringtone but when i click on it it just goes to the screen to allow a sound notification and not to menu to allow me to set the actual ringtone.
i use messages app which again allows me to choose a ringtone but this never works, not even under the sound and vibration menu in settings.
Apps like gmail dont even have an option to set a custom ringtone whereas on my samsung tablet using the same gmail app version there is an option in red to set a ringtone.
My phone is a complete mess since xiaomis update to android 9 and a right pain to use !
try "AutoNotification" app. its available on play store. it has a standalone feature that enables you to modify notification settings (priority, custom sound, vibration, etc...) per app.

It doesn't work with the recent update. Quite disappointing...
Hi, waiting for Xiaomi to restore custom notification sounds, you can try Notificon or Message Notifier Pro (I tried both, but I'm using the last one).
Xiaomi RMN 7 and same problem... f*****k !!

Mi Mix 3 Notification Issues

I've just yesterday gotten a Mi Mix 3 and set it up accordingly, and I'm finding MIUI okay as a whole except for some issues with notifications I'm having. Basically:
Some apps that send push notifications will only send them to the notification shade. No notification icon, no pop-up alert, no lock screen notification (more on that later), no sound, no vibration, no notification light. This is all completely independent of the notification settings of the app. I can turn everything on and it still won't show. Some apps show fine, such as discord and messages, but they still won't show on the lockscreen:
No notifications showing on the lockscreen at all. For apps that do send notifications, only the sound and notification light will display when I receive one, but checking both the lockscreen and notification shade whilst the phone is locked will show me nothing until I unlock it. This is while "Lock screen notifications" is enabled in the app notification channel.
No per-app notification sounds. This is most likely less of a bug and more of a missing implementation, but since this is a base Android feature now is there alternate way to enable these?
Settings specific to these issues:
In "Lockscreen & Password / Advanced Settings / On Lock Screen" the phone is set to "Show all notifications and their contents".
In "Lockscreen & Password / Notifications" it's set to "Show Animation".
In "Notifications & Status bar" "Show notification icons" and "Show on lock screen" is on.
MIUI version is fully updated at 10.2.1.
Anyone got any idea?
Many thanks
For me i had to activate it for each app seperately, that i wanted notifications from. Except for apps that already gave me notifications like snapchat. I know i had to do it manually on instagram for example

Strangely, by going into the app notification settings and changing the settings off and on again it seems to have fixed the problem? At least for the actual app's I've tested (twitter and discord).
I've also tried with an app called push notification tester however and this has the same 1. and 2. issues. I'm not sure what the difference is but if it works for important stuff at least that's what matters.
To everyone else the 3rd question still stands; is there a way to get app-specific notification sounds in MIUI 10?
The simple solution is to install a non-MIUI-based ROM.
Have someone found out how to set per app notification sound?

LOL. Stop fat-shaming it! Weight was one of my biggest concerns coming from a Galaxy S5, and the MM3 is heavy, but you do get used to it after a couple of weeks.

Literally burst out laughing in a meeting where I'm the lowest man on the totem pole by far, oops.
I'm having this same problem again myself
Even Xiaomi apps like YiCam don't work right half the time.
The notification inconsistency in MIUI is one of the biggest reasons that I just listed mine for sale. No matter how many times I've gone through individual app settings and overall notification settings, it never works as expected. And my expectation is only for it to work as the settings that I've selected indicate. It makes me a little sad actually... this was my first Xiaomi device and I ended up liking MIUI way more than I thought I would (especially compared to EMUI... which is complete trash). Oh well... on to the next.
I run an app called Notification Repeater(apk) and it seems to address any of the inconsistencies that MIUI has with Notifications(or lack there of). I use another app called AutoNotification(by joaomgcd on the Play Store i believe) to block some notifications such as "x app is diplaying over other apps" that never seem to go away.
I know it kind of sucks to have to find a work around to use a phone when realistically it would be nice if your phone just worked the way you wanted it to out of the box..but since installing these apps i have been more than happy with my current situations when it comes to Notifications.
I've also had similar problems. In addition to manually turning on each apps notification in settings (Have to remember this for every time I download an app as well) I've aslo downloaded the app 'Notification Repeater' which has helped significantly. I get absolutely ZERO notifications on the lock screen though which is something I still haven't figured out how to fix without switching ROMs. I hope someone can figure something out.

It is sort of thick but is the densest phone I've ever held. Got used to it after a week or two though, I don't think it's a deal breaker
