Hey, I had rooted my sg920f before using cfautoroot, which means - knox tripped.
I don't really care currently about it as long nothing will happen to my phone but I accidently went today to Samsung Smart Manager widget and pressed RAM, it showed me the knox is taking me ram but, why? what can I do?
You can fully remove Knox if you flash a custom ROM like XtreStolite. If you really want that..
I've currently rooted my Galaxy S6 and I'd like to return it fully to factory stock without tripping KNOX. Unfortunately I'm going to return this device since the memory management issues are a dealbreaker for me on a $800 phone.
Will flashing stock firmware trip KNOX?
It shouldn't if you use Odin and flash the correct FW package
Doubt wherever you are returng it to will even look at that unless u actually bought it from samsung themselves. U should be good as long as its back to pure stock software
Sent from my SM-G920P using XDA Free mobile app
Reflash with stock 5.1.1 ROM via odin.
hi guys, since samsung s2 i dont use samsung mobile phones so its a long time
i bought a galaxy s6 and the original room is full of aplications i dont use, the ram avaible is a joke and the battery life isnt very good
i want to install a custom rom
im with the last ofical 5.1.1., if i install a custom rom i will loose right to waranty? there isnt any way of revert the root and count?
thanks
You can unroot the device and reflash the stock ROM, but you cannot revert the Knox counter. Whether or not you loose your warranty depends upon the laws in your country.
so its impossible for now to root, flash custom recovery and flash custom rom without activate the know counter?
Search for the engineering 5.0.2 bootloader. Unfortunately if you are on 5.1.1 already, then it is of no help.
Apologies for a possibly dumb Q but is there a reliable root for the current S7 exynos model, SM-G930F, UK model, latest Samsung OTA firmware 6.0.1 G930FXXU1BPHJ, MMB29K.G930FXXU1BPHJ ?
I have seen the root process but there is a warning that some devices are getting bricked.
Thank you in advance for any input.
I need to root the phone so I can use APPS2SD to create a "folder mount" (symlinks need a unix file system at both ends) mapping from internal memory to the external SD card, for dumb Sony action cam apps which refuse to write data to the SD card. This works fine on the S6 and the T705. I don't really want to load the full custom firmware (Cyanogen).
(hardware/software developer, rooted S6 v5, T705 v4.4.2, Nokia 808, etc).

Well why not activate adoptable storage? Because if you only want to move data to the sd card then i wouldn't root at all.
Here can you check more info if ytou want to try it out http://www.xda-developers.com/enable-adoptable-storage-for-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge/
I am not sure , but
1. did you try CF-AUTOROOT? didn't it work ?
2. just directly flash TWRP and then flash supersu.zip from there, didn't it work either ?
This is very interesting - thank you. I had read about adaptable storage but it appeared that Samsung had disabled that feature on the UK models.
Will all apps be fooled into thinking they are accessing internal storage? The specific one is Sony ActionCam. That downloads into (looking on a rooted 4.4.2 T705 device where I can see all the paths with Root Explorer) /storage/emulated/0 DCIM/From Action Cam and this cannot be changed in the app.
I don't really want to try rooting an untested firmware version phone because a lot of stuff on an unrooted phone cannot be backed up and I have loads of apps installed.
Hi @all.

For me root works fine...

I think it always does, but why would you care?
It may stop Samsung Pay working but currently nobody (here in the UK) takes that anyway.
I rooted an S6 (v5) and T705 (4.4.2) and lost no useful functionality whatever.
Well kinda because of the warranty thing that after 6 months they can say no due to root.

Yes; that's true. But one should not root a new phone anyway because rooting blocks OS updates so you get no bug fixes, and there are always *lots* of bug fixes. Samsung have just done an OTA update, 6 months after I got the phone. After maybe 9 months there are few if any really useful updates, IME.
Is there a debloated rom for the SM-930F that can be installed on the device without triggering KNOX? I don't care about warranty but I use an application that depends on the device not knowing it has been tampered with.
Please, if there is such rom, I'd like to know the name of it. If it has updates enabled and is based on the latest stock samsung rom, that would be awesome!
Of course I could use app disabler pro, but I feel the cleanest way would be to get rid of the unwanted software alltogether.
