[Help needed - please] regarding app competitive dynamics! - Other Tools & General Discussion

Hey, can anybody think of cases, in either Google Play (or iOS app store), showing how a single-function/focused app is threatened by a larger, multi-function app that adds that functionality for free (as just another feature of the larger app)? (a la Netscape versus Microsoft+Explorer, to give a well-known, old example). I am particularly interested in what can the single-function apps do to survive these threats by larger players. Just any tips or thoughts will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your help in advance!

Created a free score keeping app... could use some feedback.

HI all,
I'm somewhat new here -- been lurking a while, and have recently started posting. Anyways, I recently hit the marketplace with a free app I've developed, ScoreKeeper Plus: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bammsoft.scorekeeper
In a nutshell, it's a score keeping app, tailored towards board games and the likes, with many uses. Additionally, I've included a few useful utilities for such events -- a highly configurable dice roller and a game timer.
So far, I've received perfect reviews from my modest user-base (~20 users), but I'm looking to grow that and get some feedback to further development.
The app is free and has no ads, so please share with all who may find this useful!
All feedback is HIGHLY appreciated. :fingers-crossed:

[GAME][2.2+] TicTacToe FREE

Greetings all,
Today I released my first app on Google Play Store, and would like to know your opinions especially because I have tested it on only three devices - HTC Desire and One V, and Samsung Galaxy Fit. The game was written as my first app for android a long time ago, with A LOT of documentation online, and I decided tu publish it as a small test for upcoming apps and games.
It's free of ads, and has the sole purpose of learning, so if you install and want to be of assistance, I will be very grateful. Contact me here, or on the developer e-mail (if you do so, please say you are from xda): [email protected]
Be sincere, I know it is a very simple app and the next one that I am working on right now will be far better, but please use an appropriate language.

[App][2.1+] Cozmic Zoom

Hello,
The Cozmic Zoom app is now available on Google Play!
Cozmic Zoom explores the universe between the infinitely large and the infinitely small, in the manner of the famous documentary film Powers of Ten. You can travel through the world of particles and atoms, the cells of the human body, the Earth and the Solar System, the stars and the Milky Way, the distant galaxies, up to the edges of the known universe, with a simple swipe of the finger!
There are 2 versions: a free one (more limited) and a cheap one (more complete).
(I cannot post links, but you'll find Cozmic Zoom on Google Play...)
Unlike many others, these apps have no ads, and no unexpected permissions.
If you find things to improve, I'll be happy to consider all your remarks for the next versions.
And if you like the app, think of leaving a little comment on the Play Store
Many thanks in advance!
Patrick
Thanks to your downloads, Cozmic Zoom is now the 2nd app on the Play Store in the Education category.
If you like Cozmic Zoom, please nominate the app on Best App Ever Awards!
(Unfortunately I'm not allowed to post the link.)
Thanks for your help!
And remember we're always open to your suggestions for the next versions.
Patrick

[APP] [FREE - NO ADS- NO PERMISSIONS] Tip Calculator

Hey everybody,
I’ve made significant improvements on the tip calculator app I developed. My app is ad-free and requires no permissions. Why did I do this? Because it feels good to provide users with a free app, a clean interface, and an excellent user experience. I developed this because I personally needed a tip calculator that wouldn’t spam me with ads, would provide a customizable solution, and has with a clean and stylish interface. I believe I fulfilled all these important aspects, but I would appreciate any feedback you could provide to me by giving my app a rating or review. Please tell me what you think, thank you!
As a new user I can't post download links, but you can find it by typing "fast tip calculator" into the google play store.
A little more about myself, I’m an individual developer and a senior in high school who develops apps for personal, educational, and business uses. I am completely self taught and have never taken any programming class. I have big plans for future apps and will be applying to colleges soon in pursuit of a Computer Science degree. Thank you for your support.
Thanks Dev for making us the Ad Free App.
Here is the Play Store link for people who is interest.

Click to collapse
But I don't want to be taken advantage of!
Anyway, it is not very clear to me what the app actually does. Could you explain using something other than the play store's weird blurb?
