[HELP]Soft-bricked S6, caused by f2fs partition? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had to flash the stock firmware while I was on back to note rom, since my phone got stuck during a bootloader upgrade.
My galaxy s6 doesn't boot anymore, it's stuck during boot saying that memory is corrupted, it says that I need to do a factory reset (Data partition was f2fs before odin flash).
If I choose to do the factory reset it reboots and if I'm on arter's recovery it wipes data and cache but nothing happens (I think it doesn't format it to ext4), if i'm on stock recovery or twrp doesn't work.
I can't enter recovery except for the data reset procedure.
I can enter in download mode, flashing stock firmware doesn't solve the issue (there isn't data.img in it so data partition doesn't get wiped).
Is it possible to flash arter kernel from odin? Or do you have any other ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Regards.
Edit: smart switch and kies don't work as well

Hello,
After a memory corruption, flash the stock firmware via Odin and let boot up the phone.
At the first boot, it will say that the memory was corrupted and need to format it.
Let it do the format and then it will boot.

Memory is not corrupted, data partition is in f2fs file system so stock firmware can't handle it. After the first boot if I choose to format the device, the stock recovery is unable to format it as well for the same reason.

I had similar problem ! I have formatted all my partitions in f2fs with arter's recovery install back to note and arter kernel but I can't format back to ext4 with arter's recovery! Arter's recovery is faulty ! I flash back twrp and reformat all with ext4 and all is fine now! I think twrp is the solution for you! If arter kernel work you can flash back to note and arter kernel and see if it boot

The problem is that if I flash twrp or philz recovery trough odin, I can't access recovery
Edit: Rooted the phone with odin, flashed twrp, and now I can access to recovery.
Wiped everything in ext4 and now the phone works.

Cool! Arter's work is good but I leave f2fs and arter's recovery for now!

perhaps an error in the NAND partition or ext4 incompatible
wipe data in cwm recovery
if you have error, try flash stock with .pit file
try this firmware http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2329200
Hello,
I think It is a failure NAND and only way to repair your phone It is : install a custom ROM who have a kernel with inverted path of memory. In fact kernel will see the external SD as internal memory. I Hope will help you. I repaired an phone(I9000) with this metode.

try to flash cf-root with Odin (pda mode)
http://www.mediafire.com/download/n3udy6p94pvyoaz/DDLF2-CFROOT-30-06-2012.tar
then reboot into recovery mode, try format data partition, and if the format does not appear wrong, then you have the partition in ext4
so the error can not format in rfs.
to install another kernel with ext4 support could format it.
try this before trying SD card
I had the same error, and I solved flashing the firmware twice with .pit file
sorry for my english

try one more time with other options
flash new rom, with newest kernel/cwm recovery
if it does not work, I dont know what more else can do
this rom :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534312
standard instruction with my comment
1. Flash CWM Compatible Kernel (CF ROOT) (you have this)
2. Reboot to Recovery.
3. Wipe Data / Factory Reset. (don't worry if you have an error)
4. Select the ROM zip from your SD Card and flash.
5. The device will reboot and finish flashing.
6. Reboot to Recovery Again. (wipe and format data, cache)
7. Flash Google Apps.
8. Reboot
good luck

Could someone share their recovery preferences?

If you managed to get lighting kernel (CAF) to boot on darkobas (or any) ROM can you share what recovery settings you have? At this moment I have my /Data /Cache /System all set to EXT4. I assume my file system is where the kernel problem lies, but I'm not very sure. Now I can flash any ROM with no problem(boot up successful my), but when it comes to kernels it just fails to boot. I'm using twrp 2.8.7.0 I've tried both the unofficial and official twrp same problem occurs Thanks in advance!
Edit- Redid the same process without wiping dalvik cache this time and now it booted up.

Bootloop after flashing TWRP and wiping data, cache and dalvik

I just want to start by saying that I know how to recover my phone from this but I do not understand why this is happening. I just want to flash back the official rom and then install twrp and do a "factory reset" but after wiping with TWRP my phone gets stuck in bootloop. Am I doing something wrong?

In TWRP you did 'factory reset' there isn't that option so which partitions did you formated? If you formated system, then is no more OS on your phone so what you trying to turn? xD If you want flash stock then use newest Odin 3.12.7 and learn some guide how to flash stock depend from which version (f.e. 7.x) you're coming. The guides are on that forum.

It says in the title which partitions I formated (date, cache, dalvik). I know how to flash stock. I will explain again the exact steps I did:
1. Flashed official rom using Odin after having a custom one.
2. I started the phone to check that the rom works.
3. I flashed TWRP 3.1.1 using odin.
4.Wanted to "factory reset" using TWRP, so I wiped cache, dalvik and data partitions.
5.The phone starts in bootloop.
It looks like TWRP doesn't wipe the partitions as is should.
Is not possible to TWRP didn't wiped right partitions. Why you wanted to factory reset if you flashed stock and you got factory settings? Flash stock with Odin again...
You need flash latest SuperSU zip in TWRP to fix the bootloop issue

Maybe that. Personally I never flashed stock in S6 xD
You have to flash the SU Binary after flashing TWRP, else you will face a bootloop
Magisk. No "SuperSU". Then always will be it resolve if be only "Flashed TWRP". (Odin versions doesn't be affect of a bootlops with a 5secs~)
i flashed twrp now stuck in bootloop, not sure how to flash super su now?

Problem can also be solved after flashing the latest version of Magisk.

Galaxy S7 930f can't access twrp

Hello, thanks for your help.
It seems I bricked my galaxy s7 while trying to format the /data partition.
I installed TWRP 3.2 and a custom rom, and everything went smoothly until then.
I tried installing an audio mod which throwed a " can't mount /data" error, searching for solutions I read that formatting the data partition to fat and back to ext4 should solve the problem, I tried formatting it to fat with TWRP, however on the first try I got a message that it suceeded, followed by a message that /data could not be mounted, TWRP seemed to be still working (there was no reboot button or any other buttons, just a "working" bar). After giving the phone 3 hours I decided to restart it, now I can't access TWRP; it stays on it's "splashcreen", and of course the phone won't boot.
I'm having a rough time with this so I will appreciate it a lot if you can help me.
Thank you.
Boot to download mode, flash stock firmware using Odin, then retry the TWRP installation.
For wiping data, you have to make sure you use the wipe option that makes you type out 'yes' to wipe, the other factory wipe methods don't actually properly wipe the partition.
iirc you also then need to flash the dm no verity zip from the TWRP thread.
Bro you didn't have to do anything but just formating the phone in the first place. Aassuming you're on oreo , it happens to a lot of people and myself, after flashing a kernel twrp was unable to munt data, all i had to do is a data format in twrp that fixed the problem .
