Best Buy Sprint HTC Touch Pro - $750?

So, I went to one of my local Best Buys in excitement, as the online locater showed the Sprint HTC Touch Pro in stock.
I got there, and of course the lady tech person said that she was not allowed to sell the phone until tomorrow. I asked if she could see her manager and get an exception, as I plan on driving to Orlando, FL tomorrow for a 2-month long business trip, and that I wanted to buy it from my local Best Buy.
I planned on buying it outright, as I'm not quite to my 1-year point on my HTC (Sprint) Mogul, but I've been watching the Raphael since I first heard about it back in March.
However, I went in expecting a $569 MSRP on the phone. They instead tried to sell it to me at the 'Regular' price of $749.99.
Am I being delusional thinking that Best Buy should be selling it outright at MSRP? Do I maybe have the wrong MSRP in my head?
I mean, $200 over MSRP for a cell phone doesn't quite make sense to me, seeing as the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price is still giving Best Buy a decent profit.
For anyone that wants the information, here's what Best Buy printed out for me:
Regular Price: $749.99
Upgrades - Individual and Family Plans (includes Sprint Rebate)
1 Year Agreement: $459.99
2 Year Agreement: $299.99
2 Year New Plan & Additional Lines
Family Plan Lines 2-5: $299.99
Rate Plan Below $59.99: $299.99
Rate Plan Above $59.99: $279.99
They were screwing with you. I picked up 2 today for $299 - 20% Rewardzone smartphone discount. The unconnected price sounds about right as the BestBuy price on the Touch Pro seems rather low (Sprint want $249 after a $100 MIR for the Diamond).
In the end, after selling my 2 moguls, I'll have upgraded for less than $150 to 2 Touch Pros. I'm pretty happy right now.
They weren't screwing with him, that is what they charge if you don't sign a new contract. Sign a new 2 year and you'll have no problem getting it for 299.

Where did you get 2 for $299? I didn't think the phone was available yet...
Interesting "Currency" Play
How about this.... and disclaimer, I've never dealt with this website and have no idea how good/bad they are, however they are selling on ebay, so in order to continue to do biz on ebay you generally have to have good feedback. Anyway, here's the deal: http://www.cellengros.com/product_info.php?cPath=3&products_id=1263
$799 CAD (Canadian dollars), which at today's exchange rate of $0.78 per $1 Canadian) is about $625 US Dollars. (plus shipping). That compares very favorably with current prices on Ebay and the $750 US you quoted from Best Buy.
Has anyone ever dealt with these guys before? (or I could wait a week and get the Sprint/AT&T version, but the number pad on the ATT version kind of annoys me and i'm pretty sure that's the route i will have to go (wife on ATT)...)

assuming price with new contract is 300 - 20% = $240
how did you get each TP for $150? that's one heck of a deal!

Uh do the math? lol
$240 x 2 = $480 = Price of 2 TP's
$115 x 2 = $330 = Price of him selling 2 Moguls?
So $480-$330 = $150? Btw. I think he meant both for $150.
i called my local bb, they said that they dont sell the phone outright. was gonna buy it and return it when it came out for sprint on next sunday lol... guess that got shut down

ok that makes sense...i thought he meant the price he actually paid for the phones, not after subtracting the amount he got for selling Mogul
Best Buy does allow you to buy the phones outright, perhaps he thought you were a reseller, or had a wait list of people wanting the phone
Picked mine up at BB yesterday $238.00 after tax.

I meant that they were screwing with him by claiming they could not sell it yet.
I don't know where some of you are located but my Best Buy sells phones outright. I can also confirm that the Touch Pro can be purchased for $299 (New customer or upgrade price) plus 20% if you are a Rewards Zone member with no mail in rebates. More info can be found from the link below. It runs through November 1st.
https://myrewardzone.bestbuy.com/
Pictures of the phone anyone?
I got mine for 239.99. ($256.79 after taxes).
I'm still going to try and send the $100 mail in rebate because I have one that doesnt specify the phone had to be bought from a sprint store or sprint.com... nothing to lose sending that in.
And yeah signed a 2 year agreement.
Here's a copy of my receipt..

Weird that they charged me an extra $16.... only thing i can think of is that they applied the 20% before all the instant savings to you, and they gave it to me AFTER the instant savings... retail was ~$750 like the OP said.
I only qualify for the$75 via sprint store. So i would have to pay $750. NO way in hell im paying that much. Ill wait till next Sunday to get it cheaper via sprint store.
yeah i picked up a touch pro from bestbuy for 240.00 also using the extra 20 percent off card for smartphones a great steal and selling my mogul for 150 made out of pocket cost 90.00

it will not cost you 750 if your elligible for the one year upgrade i think its more like 4 or 450 just call the store and ask but there are 3 prices. 2 yr upgrade, 1 yr, and no upgrade

Buy your Thunderbolt in last 30 days from Best Buy? Price drop!

Just wanted to let anyone who has purchased an HTC Thunderbolt in the last 30 days that Best Buy has reduced the price from $99.99 to $49.99.
If this applies to you, make sure you take your receipt in and get your $50.00 buy price matching. My wife just bought a new Thunderbolt a couple weeks ago, so I've been watching the prices for just this reason.
If you are thinking about purchasing a new Thunderbolt, now might be the time to do it
Don't forget the thanks button if I've helped you out
That's a a good price, but it was free on Black Friday Weekend at BBY

AT&T Pricing Question

So, now that we know the introductory price is going to be $199 w/ a 2 year contract, I'm wondering how often AT&T drops the price after a few weeks? I know they've got the Sony phone coming out and, I think, another flagship phone from Samsung... who thinks somebody could save $50 or more by waiting a few weeks?
Thanks in advance!

It will be more than a few weeks before the device drops in price. 199 is a great price for this beast. Don't wait. You'll end up waiting a while.
Rabble rabble rabble.
If you're trying to buy it on contract, another option for you
would be amazon or walmart. It wouldn't surprise me if amazon
has it for 149.99$ on contract.
a lot of ppl were expecting this phone to be in the 249-299 price range, including myself. 199 is def a low starting pricepoint and I highly doubt its gonna fall with-in the first 4-6 months. there is no competition for it right now...the sony phone is def not competition, and the galaxy s3 is no where to be found as of yet. wait and def. be sorry
I also would say check with amazon, but i wonder if you get a defective unit can you return it to an at&t store or do you have to go thru amazon

You would probably either have to deal with HTC directly (RMA process) or go to an AT&T device center. I have a device center near where I live in the Seattle area, and I got my Captivate swapped out there twice with no delays and no hassle.

Yeah when my cappy crapped on me, I had to send it off to TX somewhere but on a side note they did send me a replacement first.
Personally I would wait. 199$ is cheap. but a few weeks down Costco, Walmart etc. those places dive those prices.. If you shop smart you'll linger around slickdeals or fatwallet and watch these phones drop to 99$ or 150$ quick.
I recall when the skyrocket came out it was what.. 250? My cousin got it for 79$ only 1 month in. It's really up to you
Good info! Thanks guys. I'm totally happy with the $200 price tag, but I won't be as happy if I see it for $150 a few weeks later. Good thinking about trying Costco, Walmart, and Amazon! I doubt I'll be able to wait long to get it - like most I'm pretty excited!
Thanks again!
Billy
I work for the "better" wholesale club...the list or place holder price in the system is 249...but I'm sure it'll drop to 149 with instant coupon. Radio shack has it for 149 pre sale starting on the 22nd.

It's actually surprising low considering the GN is still $299 on VZW and T-Mobile's selling the One S for $199 ($249 pre-rebate). The GN will be $199 on Sprint but you'll have to wait a year for a network to use it on.
For reference, in the UK they sell for:
$649 - One X
$585 - GN
$560 - One S
So at $199 either AT&T, HTC, or both really want to move some phones.

You are comparing unsubsidized UK pricing with AT&T's subsidized price. The One X is free on UK's T-Mobile, with a 2-year contract:

Don't have to wait for a price drop
You actually don't have to wait for a price drop, it already has at Target Mobile and Radioshack. They are offering $50 instant rebate off of all preorders.
Proof for Target Mobile:

The point was to show what the phones are worth based on their retail selling price. The most expensive phone (HOX) is being sold at the lowest subsidized price.

Gotcha. I was a bit confused because you stated subsidized and unsubsidized prices, without indicating which was which. But now I see your point, thanks for clarifying.

Amazon has the LG G3 for just $0.01 on a 2yr Contract!

Just wanted to notify everyone that the LG G3 on Amazon with a 2yr contract from AT&T is just $0.01 compared to $199.99 on AT&T's website.
Metallic Black Version: http://www.amazon.com/LG-G3-Metallic-Black-32GB/dp/B00L9OVC94/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1415732119&sr=1-3
Silk White Version:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L9OVUHI/ref=amb_link_424996242_1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=hero-quick-promo&pf_rd_r=0W67YGFRQT5GPD02B57Q&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=1924776362&pf_rd_i=B00L9OVC94
FYI: This is through Amazon for the $0.01 device and through AT&T for the phone service. This is the on-contract price, not off-contract.
Dang - that is a great price! I thought $99 was a great price when I bought it, but it is totally worth the $0.01 price. For most people, that puts the total expense right in line with the Oneplus One. However, I think the G3 is superior to the OPO in everyway except battery life. That issue is easily solved by getting a 2nd battery for the G3 (the OPO doesn't have a removable battery).
On AT&T for example, you get a $15/mo discount for bringing your own phone. That's $360 over a two year period of time. If you only pay $0.01 for the phone, then your "cost" is $360.01. The OPO is about $380 shipped, which is actually more than the G3 total cost after two years.

Actually you don't bring your own phone. Amazon sends it to you but AT&T is the one still providing the device, it's just Amazon's pricing.

I was simply comparing the overall cost of the G3 vs the OPO. You obviously won't get the BYOD discount with the on-contract G3........
Oh, I see what you meant. Never mind then.

I think you can get your $50 back because of their low price guarantee.
I just pulled the trigger on this deal, to hard to pass up. I'm coming from a Galaxy Note 2 that still runs great was going to update to the note 4 until I saw that they don't think they're going to be able to root it or unlock it and I can't have that
Just an FYI amazon will make you switch to a currently offered plan. You can't keep old plans. If you already have mobile share or an up to date plan then this is a great deal.
However, the G3 will also be free on contract (some places a penny, some a dollar, but you get the point) at Best Buy, Costco, RadioShack, and probably just about every other reseller on black friday, most of the big guys like best buy will probably have it all weekend.
So if you want to do anything special with a plan you can get it then too, and they can keep you on outdated plans.

Actually is a$25/mo discount on 15gb plan. It's cheaper to get on NEXT pricing vs contract because of the $40 upgrade fee. $25 x 24mo is $600 +.99c contract +$40upgrade fee = 641.
Next is the $580 over installments plus tax

Used Retail Prices are dropping

I don't lease or make monthly payments on phones. I always sell my phones and just add $300 to my recent sale to buy a new phone. I currently have the Note 10. I originally purchased it through Samsung for the $600 off trade in. However, just a week after being released I was able to get a Note 10 for $750. So returned my Samsung Note and purchased one from an alternative website. I then sold my S10 for $500. Well today the Note 10 is selling for $600 or $650 used.
This is the 1st phone I have owned that had declined in price by more than 30% in a month. I'm just shocked.
where did you find Note10 for 600?
