Ok so my phones dialer app went bonkers (crash errors every second) so I decided to root the phone install a custom ROM (cyanogenmod) so I did not have to use the faulty stock app. Now the phone runs smoothly without app crash errors. But the problem I have now is the phones identity information disappeared. So I have a blank unkown IMEI number, even after dialing *#06# it still appears blank. I did not backup the phone before doing the custom rom flash (dumb me) so I cant repair its EFS backup. But I did write down the IMEI number on paper a while ago which I found... Anyway I can imput the info back??

product: HTC One m7_ul
I need to unlock the phone from carrier, but the IMEI is gone when updated custom ROM.
Verify that what you flashed was for your specific model of M7, there are many models of M7 and they don't all use the same stuff.
If what you have is not for your specific model then you'll have to find a ROM or stock firmware that is for your exact model.
Try looking through the forum linked below and see if you find something that applies to you, you can post your issue there and see what the users that have your device have to say, they know the details of your device better than I do.

Hello I have been trying to figure this out for the past little while i was dumb and forgot to backup my efs partition. I flashed a rom and unlocked the device as it was originally locked to rogers after this my serial number is missing and i get a message saying no service. it then changes to no sim card. i think most of my problem is rooting from the missing serial number I have been looking on google and through these forums but have been unable to find something. Some help or a push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you i thought this was it reposted over there
I recently entered the world of rooting and roms etc and yesterday i tried to flash DN3 ROM V5 for my AT&T note 2 GT-N7100.
The flash went smoothly but after the intial set up of the rom i realised I had no mobile service, so I then checked my imei using *#06# and my imei was found to be Null/Null.
I know that this has something to do with the efs folder in my phone but i don't know how to get mobile date back on my phone.
PLEASE HELP
Hi,
You have a dedicated forum for that device, so you must start ask/read there for more relevant answers:

Good luck
BTW, you have been directed already by my colleague @KJ in this thread, so please post your future questions in the dedicated forum for your device linked above or in the other thread.
Thanks for understanding

Well you could try flashing a fully stock rom. This has been known to help but the only sure way was to have a backup of the EFS folder. If you didnt make the proper backups then you may end up sending it back for repair.
Thread closed. Thank you.

Hi
I'be been researching the benefits of rooting android devices for a while now and have finally decided to try it, I have a Samsung galaxy s5 and a cheap android tablet branded as "laser" (model number: MID-742) I am going to attempt rooting my tablet before I try my phone just so I can familiarize myself with the process. The problem I'm currently facing is that I'm unable to find any info on how to root this tablet, I've tried searching xda and Google for the make, model number, build number and haven't been able to find any recent proper way to root it. If someone could help me out I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
