for sure you can...
dual sim is a hardware feature..
so its not usually necessary for you to use 2 sims if you have a dual sim device AFAIK

Yes, but it must be the SAME PHONE MODEL.
Also if you want to, you can enable Single SIM mode on a dual SIM phone by editing the build.prop file.

No Sim Card?????

OK so hears my question I currently acquired a t moble htc sensation 4g from a friend who cant afford it anymore. I have a free phone with 250 mins a month and it uses at&t network found that out by the phone number look up.
My nephew also has a t mobile Sim it wouldn't dial out but didn't say no Sim.
I already know that the phone has to be unlocked to use other Sim cards and I did method 1 of unlocking my phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107 but only the date was displayed instead of my Sim code now before I proceed with method 2 of unlocking I wanted to know if it would then recognize my Sim card and work or any other way to make it work before I use this method Please help.

I got the 'STRING: NOT FOUND' error on method one, so I moved to ADB Guide method and successfully unlocked it.

If you unlock the phone, it will still work with the original SIM card.
One possible reason that the other T-Mobile SIM didn't work is that it might not have been a newer 4G-capable SIM card, or the contacts became dirty ( they can easily be cleaned with a pencil eraser).

Ooh! sorry
I wouldn't know how to do that to be honest.
I know that Cerberus can be set up to only allow one SIM to be used. But I assume that means that if one were to flash a new ROM which would uninstall Cerberus, that would be useless.

yes, i thought bout something like that, but what sense does it have i you can flash new rom...
I really doubt there's any hardware mod you can do to lock it to one sim. Anything you could do would most likely have to be software and flashing new ROMs would work around that anyway...

When you flash generic firmware with WMShua Flash Tool, your SIM1 and SIM2 will be unlocked. You can use any SIM Card you want.

You should follow 2.14.J.0.68 instructions and just do first 3 steps. The others are for custom recovery, you don't need to do it.

HTC U11 dual sim: deactivate sim 1 "badge"

On the U11 dual sim, you can insert a sim card and a SD card in the second hybrid slot, and that's what I have done.
Is there a way to deactivate the dual sim function in order to get rid of the useless "1" above the signal strength ?
Of course, if had the opportunity to order the single sim edition, that's what I would have done...
Any ideas ?
I'm on it anyway. I would like to cancel the numbering. I also have only one sim and sdkart

You're on it ?
Anyway, I don't know for now if I'm going to stay stock or the custom/magisk way...
No offense to the hard working DEVs, but I see no significant difference between stock HTC rom and custom for daily use. The only thing root is mandatory for me, it's the ability to hide the redundant battery icon, the % is simply effective.
But now with this numbering we seemingly can't untick, I have two reasons why I might need to unlock the bootloader in the end...
Is there a solution for this?
Here's one solution, thanks to @LlabTooFeR, I just flashed Maximus HD 2.0.0 (coming from stock) as single sim, et voila, all is good

Did you read my op ? Compare my 1st screenshot and the one 2 posts above and you've got your answer: yes!
I just bought my device a few days ago, I don't think I want to root it just yet, to flash a custom ROM...

I have mine for a month or so now, I wanted S-Off (not yet available) before doing anything, but came @LlabTooFeR and his famous rom Maximus HD... I didn't hesitate long
You're sure to benefit of the latest HTC updates/ OTA before official release; this is not negligible

True, but I fear for my warranty.
But the truth is, I'm beggining to loathe the SIM number, I might just try Maximus HD.

I hated the numbering almost at once as I don't understand why it was there as I have only one sim card installed and the second slot occupied by the SD card. In my opinion, the numbering should be there only if you have 2 sim card detected/installed...
Once S-Off is available, we'll have the oportunity to have our bootloader flagged as "S-Off **Locked**" and not "S-Off **Relocked**"

I hate the fact that even if I only have the SIM card in (no microSD card), the no still appears ! That's just dumb.

Unlock, root & flash a custom ROM with single-SIM option (most custom ROMS have this option).

Enable Dual SIM for US Unlocked version

Like the title, can the Dual SIM function be enabled on the US Unlocked version?

No, that would not be possible
1. Dual SIM devices have 2 IMEI numbers which each of them is assigned to each SIM slot on the device
2. You would need a different SIM tray since US model doesn't have a dual SIM tray it only has a 1 SIM 1 SD card tray
3. Even if you manage to get a tray with Dual SIM capability the device hardware most likely does not has the dual SIM pins inside, and even if it does is most likely useless since it does not have a second IMEI assigned to it.
Try this

That thread is about adding an SD card to a dual-SIM phone already using two SIM cards, which is not the question the OP is asking.

There's a progress to archive the dual sim mod on single sim variant
Youre asking or telling? If telling, please say something more about it - I have U11 S-OFF and would like to make it dual SIM
