[Q] Playing Next audio from NAS - MX Player

Hello, I use the software version 1.7.40. When you try to listen to audio with home network storage (NAS), noticed an unpleasant feature - After playing the selected mp3 file is not played back next. The screen returns to the installation directory. However, if the folder the video files, switch to the next without any problems.
I often listen to music from your NAS using mx player, would love to have you implemented the function to move to the next mp3 file.
It would also be nice if you implemented the function go to the next folder after the playback of the current file. For example for nonstop play all the albums any band... and then all albums of all bands. Thank you!

MX currently does not have SMB read-ahead.

stock music player wont play in background

I have read on other forums where users report that their built-in default music player stops as soon as they switch away from the screen and others say the have no issue. So I guess this is a mysterious bug. It's driving me nuts. Any ideas in trouble shooting this?
no help here
Sorry mine won't turn off no matter what buttons I push. Matter of fact I can't figure out how to truly turn it off, all I get is pause. Without advanced task killer it just sits in the drop down menu, waiting.
I do have the other bug with it though, I can't sort by artist with a lot of music on there. 25gigs, hit artist and it crashes and says not enough memory. There is more than a gig free on both the internal and the external cards. Bummer.
As of today it now plays in the background. If I can figure out a rhyme or reason as to why it wouldn't before I'll report back.

Nope, no confusion. When the program "Music Player" is launched a task manager shows that it is running but if the companion program, (whos name I cant remember) is not also running then the music will not play in the background. The companion program is launched by Music Player when an audio file is started. It has a similar name to Music Player. I believe it is named Sound Player and it has the same icon as Music Player.
If you start a playlist or album or whatever in the stock player and hit the home key it will show the music player now playin in the notification bar (where you can pause or skip songs. If you go back into the program and use the back button all the way out the program closes.

Ok, now I know how you get confused. Sound Player and Music Player are two different apps. No, Music Player does not require Sound Player in memory. Sound Player can't play in background while Music Player can.
The only way to launch Sound Player is to use My Files File Explorer and open mp3 or other sound files directly. On the other hand, Music Player can only be launched from app launcher and it offers following additional features:
1. Support albums and playlists.
2. Support 5.1ch playback on headphones
3. Support playback on the background.

That was some odd notations I made while I had a task manager installed last week. I just tried what you said and you are 100% exactly right! Phweeeh thats a relief. I was worried it would go back to not working later. Thanks for the insight.

My music player shuts off when I launch the camera app. Gingerbread I think you found a legitimate bug.
Does anyone have a replacement for sound player (not music player) that can run in the background? I'm sick of having streaming podcasts end when I need to do something else with my phone.

I think that people who have very large music collections will find that the player shuts off when they go into certain applications. My feeling is that this is Android's internal memory manager subroutine figuring that the audio player is eating up way too much memory, most likely due to the database being loaded the entire time the player is running, and deciding to close that one program rather than ten others to free up the same amount of space. How much memory does your player eat up while running?
The Sound Player is opening instead of the Music Player
On my Vibrant, a .mpga file used to open using the Music Player but now the Sound Player is opening instead. My phone is completely stock, never rooted and no aps downloaded, but I can tell which player is opening: after the player opens, I close it and then press and hold the home key to see which program just opened by noting the first program name in the list of the 6. (The two player's interfaces look almost identical so it is easy to think that the Music Player is opening when the Sound Player is the one actually opening.)
Some possible clues to the cause: I had just used the sound recorder for the first time. It creates .amr files. The .amr files showed up in the Music Player's playlist, but the file wouldn't play; so I browsed directly to the file using Files, clicked on the .amr file and the Sound Player opened the file. But now the Sound Player its opening .mpga files instead of the Music Player and my Music Player's playlist is now empty. (At least that is what I think the sequence of events were.)
I imagine that resetting the phone to factory default would fix it, but I'll have to learn how to backup my address book, web favorites, and goggle map starred items.)
I posted here because I believe I have detected accurately what is happening (maybe not the cause, but the fact that the wrong player is opening), and you experts might be able to suggest a workaround or get the bug fixed.

The mp3 must be in the music folder on the sdcard in order for music player to play in the background.
Not true. I've had music in other folders that got pulled into my music library.
Sent from my Samsung Captivate.

Try force a media scan to see if it fixes your Music Player playlist problem.

[Q] Streaming from PC to ASUS - using ES F.Explorer

Hi,
after finding that awesome ES FILE EXPLORER,
i've managed to connect smoothly to my windows desktop, and by using
MOBO Player, even to play my .avi in a split of a second....but.......
for some reason it doesnt read the subtitle (located in the same folder with the same name of course)
is it a problem of the mobo player? cause i think that locally it can use the subtitle.
if not, can u please recommend on some other player that will support the streaming including subtitles?
thanks.
Slahtop HD works well, sxcept fhe audio is 250ms out of sync.
I cannot recall the features of MoboPlayer, but I use DicePlayer, and there you can select a subtitle manually in the case the program is not able to locate it automatically.

I must ask, did you actually time the off-sync?

We regret to inform you that the playlist feature is unavailable at the moment. However, you can select the folders and files and start the playback from the menu or top bar to selectively play the files. Hope this information helps you.

Bug report: m4a audio files do not played easy way

Hello.
I had discovered a new issue in MX Player Pro versions 1.10.24-25:
now if an user clicks on an audio file with the popular .m4a file extension then MX Player Pro (v1.10.24 or 25) does not appear among a list of players, which supports this type of file.
Also .m4a file extension has disappear from the list of supported files in the settings menu of MX Player Pro.
So, now it becomes trouble to play .m4a files by easy way just by clicking on they.
Please, fix this new issue.

Have you recently cleared the MX Player data or reinstalled the app?
MX Player's audio player feature is disabled by default. So, it will not be listed until or unless you enable it manually from the Settings > Audio > Audio Player. Once it is enabled, it will be automatically shown on the list of supported apps.

MX Player is more focused on the video playback. Currently, Music files are listed together with video files. Moreover, it may miss some common functions available on the music players. So, it is very uncommon to use it as a music player. That's why we have kept this optional.

If you took any time to look at changelogs, you would see the most recent one say this:
We’ve added a pinch of delight in your app experience. You will feel the change! ?
PIP and Chromecast are on its way
For India users:
We’ve given your watch experience an upgrade. Cast your favourite online videos on the big screen using your Chromecast device! The Music section has a BRAND NEW LOOK!
More improvisations:
– Wanted an easy way to filter Downloadable videos? Now you can.
– The file size of your downloads is now optimised to occupy less storage space.
Chromecast is out for Mx player v1.12.3 ads supported but not for Mx player pro. Makes me wonder why did I paid for pro license.

Thanks for sharing your concerns.
To provide a more stable experience to pro users, we may release some new/experimental features on the free version first. However, we assure that they will be released to the pro version once it's stability is ensured.
Hopefully, MX Player Pro with chrome cast and native 64bit support will be released to beta users by early next week. Stay tuned with us for further updates
Can't cast SMB Networked media (NAS) - Playing stops dead and won't restart
I use "CX File Explorer" on my Note 8 to explore my shared networked drives. (NAS) When I tap on networked media in CX File Explorer it passes the file to MX Player Pro to open. The files play perfectly on the phone screen in MX Player as they should. However, if I then hit the cast button in MX Player the playing file stops dead.
I see open media information on the cast screen with the MX Player logo at bottom. If I go back to CX File Explorer and reopen more media in the networked folder the same "open media screen" stays on the cast screen. The phone screen flashes like it tried to open and then acts like nothing happened. Networked media will NEVER open or start. Happens on ALL networked media files once cast is enabled.
If I leave cast enabled in MX Player and then browse to local storage in CX File Explorer and open another copy of the SAME media file it will start playing perfectly on the cast screen as it is supposed to. The phone screen will also change to MX Player control as it is supposed to. Everything works properly as it should, providing the media is on LOCAL storage and NOT from a networked drive.
So strange that networked media works perfectly in MX Player when cast is OFF and not at all when cast is ON. What am I doing wrong? Is this a bug? Proper casting has only just been added to MX Player. I love the cast feature. Can we get cast working with media files on shared network drives? (NAS)
