So I bought a note 4 Verizon developer edition cause I wanted to learn about root. Not knowing anything about what I'm doing I allowed Kies to do an update on the phone.
Now it looks like I may have locked my boot loader with the Verizon update.
Can only tell me if I'm screwed and how have a looked phone?
Thanks

I bought a sim-locked xperia x10 with android 2.3.x installed, but couldnt use it due to the fact it was locked. So i decided to give it to a "cellphone-shop" to let them unlock it for me. They did but now the android version is 2.1. 1-update or something like this.
So my question is: Can i update the phone via pc companion and it stays unlocked or will it be locked again after i updated it to 2.3.x again??
Thanks in advance
i updated no problem, after the update it was still unlocked.
good luck
yeah, but the guy there told me not do update it, the reason why i asked is that this guy didnt really seem to know what he was talking about, still he told me that it would be locked again after an update, so i need to be sure before i really update, would be nice if someone could ensure me that its not gonna be locked again after the update, maybe yours was unlocked in a different way than mine......
but still, thanks for the answer^^
plus, i dont think that my phone was unlocked via a code.........but i'm not sure!
is there anyone who can tell my why or why not it will be locked again after the update?
i'm not clear about your question...you mean unlock bootloader or sim?
im talking about a sim-unlocked phone (was unlocked by a shop and i dont know how they did it), i dont want to unlock the bootloader, i just want to know if it will be sim locked again after an update to android 2.3.x from 2.1. 1-update or not, but i want to be sure, i really want to avoid updating and again having a useless up to date phone
also the guy who originally sold me the phone told me that he unlocked it and before he actually sold me the phone, updated the software, when i got the phone i couldn use it with my sim-card...it was locked again, but he told me that he could use the phone with two different sim-cards from two different providers even after the update, but the phone simply didnt take my sim-card (3rd other provider).....i just dont know^^
It's my understanding that once your phone is unlocked it can't be locked again. My advice is to do the update and if it's locked again kick that dude in the throat for failing.
well, if its locked again and i tell that dude that he failed, he will say that he told me not to update it and kick my ass for complaining xD
i mean i would do that if i tell somebody not to do something he then does and afterwards complains about it.....
is there noone who can tell me for sure if it will be locked again or not?
OK, i finally did the update and it remained unlocked......NIIIICE
Recently, I messed up real bad and I accidentally installed the firmware of a Verizon GS3 on a T-Mobile GS3. Now it is a Verizon phone :c I already rooted it so I can replace the firmware with a T-Mobile TouchWiz Stock ROM. All I need is the last step: to unlock the bootloader. Can someone (or anyone) please help me remove it? I am currently mentally constipated by the problem and I just have only a couple steps until I return it back into a T-Mobile Galaxy S3. Now that's the question. Here's the story of how it is what it is right now.
So one day, I was rooting my phone to install CyanogenMod because I wanted something similar to 4.2.1 Jellybean. I did everything except I didn't delete the Dalvhik Cache. So when everything was loaded, I see that my phone cannot open the PlayStore. In my mind, I reflect back a couple minutes in the past just to remember I didn't clear what I needed to. Idiotic me goes off and attempts to erase CyanogenMod 10 and I get stuck in a boot loop. I am in a state in which I call "mental constipation". I then accidentally and foolishly install the Verizon GS3 ROM and BOOM. I am in a worse situation. Fast forward today, I root the phone but as a Verizon Galaxy S3. I am almost done but I need to just unlock the bootloader and I am set to return it back into a T-Mobile GS3. So, can someone please tell me how to unlock the Verizon GS3's bootloader?
tl;dr turned T-Mobile GS3 into a Verizon GS3 and I need to unlock boot loader
Hi guys, I am newbie @ xda. I am having trouble with my I9300 and I could not find something useful on internet since months.
My I9300 was factory unlocked. I made a mistake while manual upgrading, I install Spain-Movistar sim locked 4.1.2 on my phone. After it my phone became simlocked. I could not solve this problem and I took it to a technician and I paid him. He does not say what he done on my phone and he unlocked it.
Now it is running rooted 4.1.2. He can not upgrade the phone to 4.3 because he can not unlock it.
Please help me I want my unlocked phone again and I want to upgrade it manually in future.
Thanks
Note: I manually upgrade to 4.3 but it locked again and I took it to technician, he downgrade and unlocked it same way.

You currently cannot unlock any US version of this phone.
Never
so this phone is impossible to aquire root permission ?
Yes. It is impossible to root (unlock bootloader) currently. This phone may never be rooted. Brought one for my spouse, she does not need root. When I found out that it cannot be rooted, I passed on buying one for myself. Nice phone.
Yeah but its about the challenge of discovering the formula. You guys always find away when we get a good thread going, and put are ideas together.
Plus got rid for of my verizon firmware and flashed the usa unlocked

at least i could get rid of all the verizon bloatware and most of samsung bloatware too but phone really not compatible with other network providers, it prompts me for verizon network unlock code if i put a diferent sim card att and sprint.
You need a sim unlock to use a different carrier. Check with Verizon. People that purchase this phone should not expect it will be bootloader unlocked.
Well that sucks, but your wrong I did network unlock without any codes, I just changed the apn settins, i didn't pay nothing to no one. And it is possible to unlock bootloader if u got 65 dollars, any Samsung usa variant from s9 and up https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...unlock-for-samsung-us-canada-devices.4215101/ or here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/sampwnd-usa-model-bl-unlock-info-u-u1-w.4201689/ , but I can't afford it so im going to have to figure it out on my own like usual, plus I only payed 15 dollars for this phone and the screen is already cracked, I know how to replace it but Samsung screens are such a pain and expensive, im waiting to find something worth wild on offer up so I can finish trashing this one.

Did you get your bootloader unlocked an have you found a twrp that will work on your phone ??
I have a motorola z play droid I'm trying to get rooted twrp and rom on but now I'm reading that verizon phones can not be boot loader unlocked so is this true that no verizon phones can have custom rims or recoveries on them? Or can I do this without a unlocked boot loader? I'm really confused. All of this stuff seemed so much easier about 6 years ago when I was more into it. I see people putting recoveries and roms on moto z plays addison and mine says addison in device info but then I don't want to flash something that's going to brick my phone as I'm a single father and can not afford to buy another phone at the moment. Any answers are greatly appreciated and sorry for such a noobish question. This site rocks btw thank you devs for all you do for us.
AFAIK Verizon don't want to get the bootloader of their phones unlocked because dumbasses will root their phone, mess it up, and then they want to flood the tech support lines expecting Verizon to fix it.
