Is there no notification light for this device? Whats the light in the speaker at the top used for? Can you only turn it into a notification light with a root? Thanks
Hmm, I swear I've seen something about this subject on XDA before..

Hi Guys
Does anyone know what the indicator light that is inside the recessed area for the front speaker for? I have never seen it light up, and have no idea what it's supposed to be used for.
Thanks!
the ambient light sensor
It's a light sensor.. this question allready covered here.
The display's backlight auto-adjusts (can be disabled tough) with the help of this light sensor
HAHA. I can't tell you how many times I looked at my phone trying to think of where the light sensor is. I heard that light described as an actually light, that blinks for certain occasions.
try searching next time
but...you are talking about the light sensor. the notification light is around the dpad
Is there not a notification LED for the Charge? You know, when you get a message or something? My Droid X had an LED indicator light that would flash until the phone was checked. For the life of me I can't seem to find where to enable/disable this? Please help.
It does not have a notification LED, quite disappointing for such a high priced phone. Just like the galaxy S2, even with its insane specs and high praises they still couldn't manage to put a notification LED, I'd rather have that then a front facing camera
You can use the free app NoLED if you would like a way to simulate having a notification LED
The led not being there has been a big con for me but if that's the worst I guess I can live with it. I would not reccomend using led "simulated" apps as your battery life is killed by them because of the screen being in the on state

Ya that is true, I'm also pretty sure it keeps your phone from sleeping since the screen is on which of course means even more battery drain. Just recommending a way to simulate the LED though I'm hoping someone makes an app to just have your back LED(for your camera) do a small flash every 15ish seconds, sure most people set their phones face down but still!
Missed Message Flasher works for me with few complaints.
NOLED I didn't care for.
What are the small circles up at the top of the phone on the right for? Photo sensors of some kind?

I'm thinking they are sensors to detect light and adjust your screen brightness and I know one of them detects when your face is in front of the phone while on a call to prevent the screen from staying on..
does atrix 2 got led notification?
===========================
ok it got led. please close this thread.
*face palm*
Naa it's cool, you can also change the colors of the led notifications as well. Handecnt SMS can change the colors. Not as bright as my blackberry torch but still enough so I'm not always turning the device on looking for new messages.
I noticed that. It does a few other colors but they all seem very dim besides green.
Try light flow, very excellent app and the paid version has a lot more customization to it. One of the few must have apps for me
Red, blue, green, yellow, and orange stand out to me the most. White really all that white for some reason

When i get text messages it doesn't light up it just makes the notification sound? isn't it suppose to light up?
You should have a green led lint blinking in the left side of the speaker at the top of the face. Same one that lights up when charging

But isn't the screen suppose to light up for a little?
Nope, it normally does not light up (very weird on HTC's part). Some ROMs have a feature to make it light up though.

Oh ok i thought it was something wrong with the phone.
Yeah that's why I went the GoSMS route. A little more options for you to play around with including screen on with oncoming message.
i just saw a video on youtube and when they turned on the nexus there was a light that lit up and it looked like it was behind the speaker that u here people talk in.. when your on the phone?? or am i crazy? i just turned my phone on then off and i didnt see any light come on at all?
Nope, no light. Are you perhaps referring to the white speaker grill on the white Nexus 5?
Its the notification LED. If your phone is in standby and you receive a message, then it will blink intermittently.

The notification LED is at the bottom of the phone.

Right, but the "speaker that you talk in" per the OP is at the bottom of the phone...
Edit:
Never mind.... I'm special sometimes.
