A few months back I flashed xtrestolite to my g920i and have since flashed odex, deodex and several aroma versions in different combinations. Since the initial flash the scanner has not worked. Currently using the latest unikernal, though was using a different one when I first flashed. TWRP latest too.
I was wondering if someone could give me some in site weather it's hardware coincidence or a driver not loading or something.
When I try *#0* and try the sensor test I see "unfortunately, hwmoduletest has stopped working"
Trying to utilise the scanner will always show "an error has occurred with the fingerprint sensor, if this message appears repeatedly please restart your device" though restarting has never worked.
I have not tried going back to stock as my carrier rom is 5.0.2 still.
Could someone please lend me some in site as to what might be causing this?
Thats because you're using 5.0 bootloader on 5.1 rom. You either have to wait until your carrier releases 5.1 so you can flash 5.1 bootllader or downgrade rom to 5.0.
Where you ever able to fix this problem? I am having the same problem! Thanks

This is a problem associated with not updating bootloader. When you update to 5.1.1, you have to update your model specific bootloader to 5.1.1.

Don't know why it's not working, sorry. if you have a custom ROM on the tablet, it might be that, or if the CSC on the tablet is not the original CSC (often caused by flashing ROMS, even 'stock' ROMs)

So I've been having this problem basically since the summer. I'm on the stock Rom, stock recovery, and unrooted through supersu settings.
When I go into settings and click on software update and click on check new it says checking for a few seconds then the dialogue box disappears and nothing happens. Try again and the same thing happens... This is weird since I'm all stock. Does anyone know what this is?
Btw I reverted back to stock from gpe and I'm currently on 4.4.2 so trying to update to 4.4.4

Maybe you need to use the latest ruu for 4.4.4 and that will put you with the 4.4.4 software and you will be set for the LP update that is due out any minute now.
The ruu post is below.

Thanks, but this has been happening to me for a while now, even on 4.4.4

Phone is S-off, Rooted
Running Android 5.0.1
TWRP 2.8.5.0
My screen prior to going into recovery states: Software Status "Official"
I'm getting the VZ software update notifications. Does anybody have any idea what this update is for? When it has tried to auto update in the past, it has failed, which is expected.
Wasn't sure I needed to bother with updating my phone or grabbing an updated ROM for anything groundbreaking.
Thanks!

We need more info than that. There are two 5.0.1 versions already out.

Nevermind, just googled the OTA software update number (4.17.605.5_R4) and it relates to Stagefright patch. I am currently on 4.17.605.5
Is it something to be concerned with leaving as is or go ahead and update?.
Thanks

Hey there everyone, i was running Android 4.3 on my Note 3 Neo, and i upgraded to Lollipop 5.1.1 via Odin. The Firmware that i downloaded and installed was Stock Firmware N7505POUDOK2, the problem is that i cant keep root now, my phone was previously rooted on 4.3 and worked properly. Now, if i root my phone with Kingroot, it will get done and root will work, but randomly after a few minutes my phone will restart and when it does my root access is gone again.
Can someone tell me what is wrong? How do i fix this problem? Also, there were two 5.1.1 firmwares for my phone, N7505POUDOK2 (which i installed) and N7505POUDPA1. Did i flash the wrong firmware or something? Should i have installed the other one? Also, im not sure if it is related to this problem, but ever since i flashed 5.1.1, in google play store when i try to install apps, they sometimes don't download and take a very long time to install or somehow get cancelled.
Can someone please help me?
Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure this is a selinux issue with touchwizz lollipop. If you install a permissive kernel (any custom kernel) for your device then you should be fine
Good Luck

I was trying to flash Glaxy J710FN with stock ROM using Odin. But it fails at cm.bin and shows 'Complete write operation failed'. Please do help me with this.
I am facing the same issue, I've googled the problem and Its something to do with the wrong baseband version which cannot be downgraded.
I am on supernova ROM and want to switch to complete stock, unroot for warranty.
DId you find any solution?

It has something to do with the USB cable, USB port and the installed driver versions. Update your driver to the latest version. Try using a different USB port, never use a USB hub. And that's it.

Also check whether you're trying to downgrade to a former version of Android which can't be done using Odin. Try getting the latest version of your stock ROM which you can Google yourself.
Thanks for your reply
I tried with different USB port but receiving same error.
Supernova custom ROM is on Android 6 and the firmware that I downloaded are also Android 6
I am completely clueless on how to solve this issue. I've been sitting and researching about this since 2 days now with no luck

You do have a J710FN right. Even though the downloaded one is Android 6 it has got variants as Samsung provides updations frequently. J710FXXU2APK6 is my current basaeband version. If I try to flash an update below this version it shows the same error. So do check your current version and try flashing an update above that.

Hey,
I tried a firmware of SM-J710F instead of SM-J710FN and odin worked.
I got official full stock ROM.
But issue is the boot screen when you first switch on the phone. It is still of the previous custom ROM Supernova. So it appears as "Samsung S8" Because of the custom ROM
Even though I flashed complete firmware through Odin the S8 did not return to stock
I am on complete stock with no root now
How to change the first boot image back to J7?
Thanks in advance

Are you sure you're on J710FN? The problem with the boot image would be that the ROM you're saying stock is a custom one with the S8 boot image. Try wiping all your data including David cache and flash the ROM again. If it's still the same root your phone and change the boot image.
