Hello Everybody,
I found some apps which are using data in background and they all are not familiar.
They are not in Apps (settings» application).
There names are 10165, 10085, 10106, 10097, 10115, 10178. I'm not using much internet now a days but around in my 200 MB of consumption 10115 (named app) used 45 MB background data. I haven't seen them on previous Lollipop version 2.33.720.4 but in 2.33.720.6 I think instead of security improvements they are snooping us.

So like the title says i need to track data usage per app. My data use for today was alarmingly high and i need to find the culprit. Is there any app that does this¿
bump please
+1
An app like 3g watchdog with extra listing for each app would be perfect
I've been searching for similar apps as well (light weight)
Found another option...

Seems to use built in data monitored by the os, for ver 2.2 onwards only though.
Cheers

Some time within the past 3 days Android OS (as per Settings\Data Usage) downloaded 59 mb background traffic via mobile data connection . This happened without me permitting anything or intentionally downloading anything. Typically my total background data traffic for Andoid OS is a few mb per month.
The 59 mb were enough to exceed my contract limit, and now I have to pay a high penalty-like charge for each mb. I want to learn what happened there, so I can do something to prevent this to happen in the future. Thanks for all hints and tips!
Check out which app is using so much of data
If the app isn't needed uninstall it and also disable auto updating of apps

Thanks!
No app has auto-udating enabled.
Let me detail this a bit. 59 mb are shown as Android background traffic. No app is showing any mobile data traffic of that size, neither foreground nor background, with one exception which is Boat browser's foreground data traffic, obviously being my internet usage. All other positions counted together are around 6 mb only.
What apps or functions are causing background data traffic in Android OS? If one of the websites I visited had for example a video file pushed on me which I did not notice, does Android OS count this as Background traffic?
Pls. close the thread.
This would not have happened with my previous Symbian based device. Frankly, how Android could become so strong is beyond me. Or better: I suspect why.
My data stats show that "android OS" consumed about 200 mb? Is this normal? I mean, i don.t care about costs, but could a malicious app use kernel for transmiting my personal data to a third party site?
Is it possible?

Nobody can exactly say the data consumed by their android.
But 200 mb in your case is very higher. That may not be by the os only,
See is there any download or any app(s) running at background.
So stop all the apps in seetings>app manager and see the consumption again.

200 mb is never ok for your os to consume see if an update occured in that month ! My android os usage is 30 mb.

Aloha there...
Head over to f-droid.org and install networklog, root required thought. It gives a very detailed report about network traffic.
Happy network loggin...

I searched and remembered that i was having sync on, so that could be an explanation.
Thank you for your responses

to prevent consuming too much data you could install "3G Watchdog app" it monitors your data every minute and send a notification (plus vibration) if you exceed your traffic data limit
The sync-on triggered that much data usage by your OS.
Its normally around 40 to 60 mbs approx.

Hi!
System:
I'm using a CarbonROM september nightly with ElementalX 1.07.
Issue:
Android is killing opened apps although there is more than enough free ram.
Detailed:
For testing purposes I launched ca. 10 apps sequentially. After opening the 9th or 10th app, the first one of the launch order has already been killed by Andorid.
Right after this my Nexus still has 1.1 GB free RAM!
What I tried:
Configured minfree defensively (512,1024,1280,2048,3072,4096): Nothing changed.
Additional information:
There aren't any third party task killers installed.
I use a very minimal and clean installation of android. 114 apps installed (of which 87 are system apps), almost no services running (no instant messaging, no anti virus etc.)
It could probably be caused by the background processes limit (which can be found in the developer options). I've left this setting at 'default limit' of course, but does anybody know how 'default limit' actually is defined actually and - above all - if I can increase it in some configuration file?
First world problem, I know. But thanks in advance!
Sounds like a kernel issue.

Hi,
I just wanted to ask what is "android OS"? when it comes to data usage.
Here is my issue:
I recently check my data usage under phone settings and surprised that "android OS" was the second highest data usage. It consumed roughly 9GB of data in span of 1 month. Mostly of my activities was video streaming via modified youtube app. and downloading on my chrome browser.
I am also using softether vpn app which requires root to run.
I just wanted to make sure that his data usage of android OS were not due to some malware.
Thanks in advance
