[Completed] Lost Root somehow and can't seen to reapply it on my ZTE ZMaxx!! - XDA Assist

OK first off this is my gfs phone, I had rooted it using Kingroot with no problem. I flashed a custom ROM I used cynogen 12.1 and also flashed a synthetic v3 kernel. Her phone was working just fine until she let some know it all at her work mess with it! I was wondering why the hell I couldn't get into recovery thru my twrp. I have to manually do it now. Even then everything I try to do it says it fails. So I can't back it up at all. Nor flash the old stock KitKat THST it originally came with. Her screen has been blacking out to every since that dumbass friend of hers downloaded pimp my rom. He had no clue wtf he was doing. Now thru that app it allows me to delete all added **** he did to it. But somehow her phone lost her permanent root!!?? Beats me, but it explains why I can't use device control anymore. And why I can't wipe the cache to the dalvik machine. I can't flash any roms, I can't do ****. I tried using kingroot but no work! It worked on my 4th try last time but I was using her stock Android 4.44 KitKat rom. I recall reading somewhere that kingroot doesn't support lollipop 5.2 which is what I put on her phone using Cynogen 12.1!!! So basically if I can't gain access to permanently root her phone I won't be able to fix it at all! Which is bs! Van anyone help me? I manually go into recovery mode it won't even let me do a factory reset. No matter what I do it keeps saying Fail!!! I'm growing very impatient, I need to fix her phone asap. I'd appreciate it if any of you guys can help me out please. Thank you for your time...hope someone helps me.

[Q] Help ??

Hello !!
I have a LG Thrill P925G Rooted + CWM Im getting tired of CWM and want to remove it ? is there any possible way i can remove it without bricking my phone ? I Want It To Go Back To Stock Everything
Please If Someone Can Help Me With This Situation
- ROM MANAGER IS NOT GOOD
:crying:
I don't recommend going back to stock ROM manager - it will remove your root instantly as soon as you hit factory reset - that depends on what ROM manager version you use, of course. So, I don't recommend that - there's better alternatives of course. And CWM or TWRP is there for when you accidentally brick your phone so it's best to leave any of rooted ROM managers alone so you can reflash the backed-up copy of Android ROM and your preferences - you will thank yourself for that. I managed to learn my lesson the hard way with my previous Android smartphone. Now I use TWRP a lot just so I can test the firmware out.

Help ??
Thanks Mario For The Reply
The reason why i want to go back to stock is because i just got an update from LG Mobile Support Tool and i think CWM is messing around with the update because my phone wont update and all my other friends as the same phone there's update and the not on any CWM Or ROOTED .. Thats the only reason why i want go back to stock ?? but i was wondering do you think i can still update my phone with CWM ?
:crying:
Just update to JB 4.2.2 and you'll be ahead of all of them

[Q] Cyanogen Did Not Work No Service

Hey Everybody
I'm new to the whole rooting process, which I did fine on Saturday the 4th of October 2014. Today (October 8th 2014) I tried to install Cyanogen using the installer, it said it worked, but when my phone rebooted it was in the original version of touchwhiz that came with my Galaxy S3 SGH-I747 Rogers version. I wanted to get my files back, so I went into CWM and tried to recover, which didn't work. I tried again and again and it finally loaded my apps, but I had no service and I was spammed with "failure to load .gapps.google" or something like that. I went into CWM and wiped cache, tried again, same issue. I then wiped everything, went back into it and it still was NOT working. What do I do? I have no service at all! I've tried pulling the SIM and putting it back, but no success. Please HELP!
EDIT: I flashed stock ROM using ODIN, which worked. I would still like to know why CWM didn't work though, and if it is still possible to try to get it to work

Anybody?
I'm a beginner myself, and i do not know much about installing custom roms on samsung phones, but maybe you did not flash a compatible custom kernel to support the custom rom? it seems like you did not flash gapps either, but that should not stop you from getting network service. my last guess would be that you need to also install a baseband perhaps. all this information should be there in the galaxy s3 section of the forums.

Hey there, first off, thank you for replying.
I didn't manually use odin or other flashing software to flash the ROM. Unlike the rooting method (which went smoothly) I used the cyanogen mod installer. The installer itself said that cyanogen was installed successfully, but it was not. After it said this, my screen (on the phone) turned off, and I was brought to a fresh install of touchwhiz. I've actually fixed the networking issue by flashing touchwhiz stock, but that still doesn't explain why my CWM backup wasn't working.
I see...I haven't used the cyanogen mod installer myself so cannot say...
What I suggest is that, if you're up for trying again, to manually flash a rom - either Cyanogenmod or any other. There seem to be a lot of good roms available for your phone, and whichever rom you choose will come with instructions for how to install. The usual method will involve the following steps as far as I know:
- Root
- Unlock Bootloader
- Flash Custom Kernel with recovery
- Flash ROM
- Flash GAPPS
These steps are not difficult at all as long as you follow the instructions for your specific phone. I have a Sony Xperia SL and thats how I installed a custom rom on it many times. Sorry I could not help much not knowing Samsung procedures but good luck!

OK,
Download stock ROM for your device from Samsung-updates.com according to device model and region.
Then flash it with Odin.
Good luck

[Completed] Formatting Samsung S3 Problem

Hey, so basically I'm in a situation where I have no idea what to do.
I recently just got a new phone, and am going to give my Samsung Galaxy S3, SGH-T999V model - from Wind Mobile to my Dad. Basically, when I first got the phone - a couple months after, I decided to try Rooting it, and I did, successfully. Since I didn't really know what to do with my rooted phone, I decided to unroot it - then tried rooting it again some months later, but it didn't work successfully. Basically my phone wasn't rooted, but I had the "Team-Win" recovery on it.
I wanted to bring my phone back to it's original state - and have the stock recovery on it. After some Googling, my solution seemed to be to flash the stock rom for the SGH-T999V model onto my phone using Odin. And I did that - and it worked successfully. But I still couldn't check for OTA updates or anything, it said my phone had still been modified in an unauthorized way.
Now that I need to give the phone to my Dad, I have to format the device and erase everything. This is where my problem starts. When I try to format it (using the Stock recovery), I see a bunch of error messages, with the Android logo falling down in a kind of dead way. I reboot my device, and nothing changes.
It still has all my data, and everything on it.
Sorry if this is the wrong area to post this (I'm relatively new to the forum), and if my problem doesn't make much sense - I've tried being as detailed as possible. Could anyone help?
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Flashing the stock firmware should show you to get ota's. This should have everything you need,http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/samsung-galaxy-s3-sticky-roll-thread-t2344125. Anyone?
There is a few things u can do. Custom ROM and Kernel and recovery. Which I prefer to do. If you just want to remove the bloat download titanium backup
What are you looking for in a Rom? Better ?? Better ?? More memory and performance?

Well its taken me awhile but ive got time to do some time finally.. i put alliance rom on the phone but when i tried to make a phone call the was no sound on either end of the conversation.. is this a kernal issue?
think this is the best rom arround here alexis rom best battery ad performans
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/development/alexis-rom-1-0-feel-game-sound-01-04-t3349944
Just tried the Alexis Rom and same thing.. stuck on boot. I reinstalled Alliance hoping for diffrent results.. can text message but no audio during a calls.. ugh! Back to stock again lol..
Provider - Telus
S6 920w8
Stock Android version - 5.0.2
Stock Kernal 3.10.61-4808800
I am using TWRP v2.8.6.0 and am wondering if the version or kernal may have anything to do with getting stuck on boot with almost every ROM i've tried to install..
My procedure when installing a custom ROM is to do a factory reset from TWRP (i dont do data or format because there is no sd card slot to store my rom or backup image), install ROM, clear cache/divik, reboot to system.
Any Ideas??

Reflash any ROM giving you sound issues and then flash either hacker kernel or arter kernel as they are the only two compatible as far as I know. Once you have flashed arter kernel and then rebooted your phone. Reboot your phone back into recovery once more and then flash this https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4Gyz91x5k7gc2NBS2N5TFQwY0k/view?usp=drivesdk it is the call audio fix for our devices (925T / 925W8)
(920T / 920W8)
Just make sure you DO NOT FLASH THIS BEFORE DEVICE REBOOT AFTER FLASHING CUSTOM KERNEL. Or you will get into a bootloop and say this doesn't work. (Your system needs to build with kernel settings first)
Here's a step by step I hope helps.
1. Flash custom ROM
2. Flash custom kernel
3. REBOOT
4. Set up ROM.
5. Reboot into recovery.
6. Flash call fix.
7. REBOOT
8. Profit.
Hope it helps you and welcome to making your phone truly yours.

Another reason why you are not booting is because you are on 5.0.1
You will have to update the bootloader to MM 6.0 first in order to use 6.0 custom ROMs this can be achieved by flashing any of our latest Canadian firmwares. (Does not matter what company if you are changing FW after.)
ALSO you can use the advanced wipe settings on TWRP to wipe everything but 'internal storage' that is where the ROM is downloaded.
I had alot of issues installing custom ROM's.. so i decided to upgrade and install OEM marshmallow 6.0.1 then re-root my phone. It worked.. I'm running Griffin ROM atm but will play around with other roms now that i have a good idea of where i went wrong.

I do not. However I always have mobile data running, maybe toggle yours and see if it sends. Some of the new ROMS have incorporated a tweak that auto toggles data to recieve pictures and send them. Griffin AFAIK does not have this tweak yet so when sending MMS you need to manually turn mobile data on and off.

Private mode?
Like in the browser? Or in the actual software?
I've never used it before so I've never hunted it down.
(Asking because I shall)

Private mode in setings---> privacy---> private mode. I read somewhere a kernal will fix it.. i'll play around with that later!

Need help rooting and custom recovery

Hey all,
I'm trying to root my phone and I keep running into issues.
I followed this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/oneplus-6-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-t3792643
and when it comes to the flashing recovery section, I keep ending up in Qualcom crash dump.
I took the advice on another thread and tried using Blu-spark 9.8.6.
Whilst that booted into temp recovery, everything was encrypted and illegible, so I couldn't do anything.
I am on Pie, stock ROM.
How can I get this phone rooted? I was hoping to install xXx.
What info do you need to help me?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: To be a little clearer, when it boots in temp recovery, it asks me for a password to decrypt the data. I've tried all passwords I know, non work. Hence why it is encrypted.
Even if I work out how to get past the encryption stage, how do I know I won't run into other issues?
Is there a guaranteed root and recovery method for Pie?
EDIT EDIT: Worked it out. I had to turn off security settings. No ****.
Hopefully I don't tun into any more issues. About to flash Magisk.
Ok, phone booted up fine and seems to be rooted with magisk.
One last question.
xXx says that I must have TWRP to flash. I do have TWRP, but it is Blu spark version.
Does that matter?
EDIT: Flashing ROM now. Hopefully all is well.
Thanks anyone who was going to reply to my initial question. Everything seems to be working.
