[Completed] how do the Android developer adapt os to latest version? - XDA Assist

Hey, guys! May I ask you a question, how do you adapt a phone to latest version?
I flash LeWa OS based on android 5.0, this is officially released test version, but open source code is 4.4. I want to know how did the developer make 5.0?
please tell me the way, thanks!

Hi and thank you for using XDA Assist
When a new Android Version comes up the developers modify the native sources of the device and adapt it in order to make it compatible with the latest version, that's how it works. There is much work to do beyond the final product which your see.

I dont think there is one for that as that is not an official version of Android. Very few China based Android phones are supported by AOSP. You may have to start it yourself if you want it. The first thing you will need to do is have the OEM post the kernel source code for the device. This will be your biggest challenge. As most China OEM dont respect the GPL laws

Ok
What if there is no source of kernel? Can I use compiled kernel (3.0.13) from current firmware (4.0.3) or this is impossible?

Without kernel source your kinda out of luck. No that kernel will not work on AOSP as that 4.0.3 is not an official android version. It is a hacked together version. Your best bet would be to sell it and get something that is not a knock off.

Got to write to the OEM. Only they will be able to release the kernel source. Good luck. Dont hold on to hope though. They are not forced to post kernel source like everyone else.

Don't you know is it real to compile with another kernel for same CPU MT6575?
Found some links to kernel sources for other phones - seems to be working for different devices.

Android Nougat?

Will we get it?Im 1000% sure the phone is capable of running it.I believe somebody must mess with the RIL,the P8 devs say they have some issues with it(while building cm based roms),anyway flashable rom is easily to be made.
Here I found the source of the phone: http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin.php?id=hwdownload&mod=detail&mid=70
Even if we dont have source, there is still a chance that we can make custom rom for it,just like broadcom grand neo got cm11.
''Contrary to the popular belief, userspace driver source code is not always required to make an AOSP-based ROM as long as the proprietary binaries shipped with the device does not modify the API too heavily (or is from a very different version of Android). Instead of modifying the source code of the drivers, the Android source code was adapted to be able to use the proprietary binaries.'' - using this logic there is flyme os 5.1.1 in 4pda,which is also skinnned chinese rom,we might be able to port the newer emui from p9 or honor 7.
Edit:Just saw that there is android n beta for p9 based on emui 5.Anyone wanna give a shot porting it?
Are there actually any active developers?
I think it's possible but it will be so difficult for the devs to do such thing...
But I really hope that some one ports it for our phone

I think porting the android n beta for p9 should be possible,or if not the beta then when the official version comes out.It has kirin 955 and mali gpu,I think it can be crossported. It would be easier to port from the p8,but I think it wont get it too.
Practically replacing some libs and folders with the ones from the stock marshmallow, that did work with mtk chipsets, but Im new at the kirin stuff.

Android O is getting released for other phones already

Any chance we could see the development for Moto-G ?
AOSP or Lineage..
Or can someone provide me a tutorial to build myself?
Would be happy about an experimental build with basic functions. Just to test the new version. Hope that's coming soon to us

Hello XDA Developers,
I am new to this forums and development of android stock rom so my question may sounds stupid and basic.

I need to flash and check the SW image on Emulator and I don't have the actual Nexus devices with me.
Hence, please let me know the procedure to do so.
if it is feasible to prepare android image for emulator and flash it on the same.
Please help me for the same.

Samsung A13 (sm-a135m) 64bit kernel building

Hi Everyone!
I'm very new to this topic, this is my very first time trying to build a kernel from source code. As setup i've a samsung a13 SM-A135M (which is the 4g version of a13 series), this phone by default is forced to work 32bit on a processor and hardware that has the capability to go full 64bit.
The question is:
I've inquiried the correct version and baseband that corresponds to my device, on https://opensource.samsung.com/, and they uploaded the source code of it (the baseband is A135MUBU1AVB5), so with this source code should i be able to build a 64bit version of both kernel and android OS , or this source code only works for 32 bit installations?
Thanks and Regards!
Hi, I just asked a very similar question here: https://androidforums.com/threads/i...this-problem-a13-samsung.1347411/unread?new=1
And someone's reply brought me to your thread. I don't exactly know much about coding but an experienced user said he did some searching, his answer is on my thread. As of now there is no way that he could find to get a 64bit software on the a13, hopefully this changes.
Hi!! thats right, the problem that you have is what has driven this question, although i've the source code for building the OS i'm waiting for someone more experienced to tell me if this source is able to build a 64 bit version of the OS and Kernel for the A13 phone. Hope we find this experienced person

That would be great I think the a13 is great value for the price now we just need to get around the software limitations
