[Completed] Music player that loads up the song images and not the album image? - XDA Assist

Hello, i have a pretty messy music library with few tags set just a bunch of songs thrown together in a folder due to multiple migrations etc. I just execute Linux commands to look for mp3 files and send them all to one folder since its the easiest method.
I wonder if there is a player that displays the images that are inside of each music file instead of selecting the one in the first one and set it all as one single album and has audio balance.
To illustrate I can have separate songs with their album image attached inside my folder for 100 songs but my music player using the built-in music library feature of Android select the first song and use that image as the album image for all the songs when the album tag is unspecified. There are players which, however, does not do this and respect what image is attached to the song. An example is the music player for Huawei Honor. But I have recently gotten hearing issues and I need a player that does this with audio balance, which the Huawei one doesn't.
All tips that might help is appreciated as always. I have tried players like Shuttle and Blackplayer without luck so far.
I guess I will get comments such as "Just clean up your tags" but I'm not the type to tag songs as I tend to listen to a bunch of less-known electronic artists that are not really possible to locate in any music identification database (I'm sure it has your pop, rock and classics though...) The reason I have gotten rid of the tags over time is because I got a lot of ugly albums containing only one to around five songs depending on the EP.
EDIT: its worth noting that it might work to make a seperate folder for all the individual songs, but that sounds like a horrible fix to me.
I'm sure somebody can relate to my situation, it is not easy to dig through the mess of music apps out there.

Hi,
I suggest asking for opinions here,
Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [Ask Any Question][Newbie Friendly]
Or just searching Google Play store for different music players and try some out.
Good luck!

Best Audio Player?

Is anyone working on a S2P type audio player for Android? One reason that I regret going to Android is the lack of any good audio players. Using Nemoplayer and it is alright...but I want my S2P!
Until then, can anyone recommend an audio player that DOES NOT scan then entire SD card for audio files? As much as I like my 1 second audio clip for notifications, I don't want it to be included in my playlist.
S2P was ideal because all music needed to be in the /music directory. Thanks ahead of time!
You can put an empty file named .nomedia (the dot is important!) in the directories you don't want scanned.
You have just made my day! Thanks very much.
Well, that fixed my audio player issue, but now that essentially is preventing android from seeing my ringtones. So now I can either have my ringtones or an audio player that will not play my ringtones. Any way of having both?
My ringtones don't show up in the Music application, are you doing something differently?
Try Mortplayer. You can even find info about it in this forum. It doesn't use the Android media database. It scans only the folder and subfolders you designate.
guags99, mortplayer is exactly what I am talking about. Thanks for the information!
For all those who prefer other players, try to put a file named .nomedia in the directories you don't like to have scanned for Android's media library.
MortPlayer doesn't handle that file since I think it's enough to point it to the correct main folder, so you could even use .nomedia to omit audio books from your favorite tag based media player and play them with MortPlayer Audio Books.
(Of course I hope many like MortPlayer, but of course folder based navigation isn't for everybody. And I didn't like to code the 5,000,000th iTunes clone...)
Edit: Oops, skipped an important post... I think ringtones in /media/audio/ringtones (resp. .../notifications or .../alarms for those) should be regarded even with .nomedia.

Click to collapse
Mine don't either. Maybe it's a difference between different versions of Android?
Careful
Hey guys - be careful with .nomedia - you can loose all your media files due to a silly bug in Android...

I quite like btunes. You can specify which folders for it to look into. Ive just got all my mp3s in my music folder.
Audiobooks ive got in another folder and use an audio book reader for them so btunes works pretty well for me. Also like the interface.
The key to keeping ring, notification, and alarm tones from showing up in the media player is to have them in the correct folders. And there is where the "why didn't I think of that" comes into play.
At the root of your sd card:
alarm tones go in the "alarms" folder
notification tones go in the "notifications" folder
ring tones go in the "ringtones" folder
Now your phone will be able to see the tones and use them properly, but they will not show up as media files in any media player unless you tell it to look for them (some players, such as Meridian for example, allow you to exclude folders in the application setting).
Android Delight has a great comparison between Cubed and DoubleTwist. (can't post links yet)
Those are my two favorite music apps. Cubed was my fav but for reasons in the article (syncing, ease, etc.) DoubleTwist is taking over.
I'm using btunes right now. You select the folder with your music manually. I used to use Meridian where you also selected the folders. I changed because of a bug after an update, but that might have been fixed now. I like them both becaus you can skip, fast forward by swyping (best on meridian)
one of the best audio player is deadbeef. simply to use, GUI is perfect, sound is clear.

[Q] Android Music Database

I am looking for some clarification on how Android generates the Music DB and in particular how it displays track and album info and artwork. Right now I have some music in a "Music" folder on the root of my sdcard. There are several tracks directly in that folder, and some others organized into subfolders by artist or album. I'm having several problems getting the info to display properly.
My first issue is album artwork. Does Android display artwork that is embedded in the file? Some of them are showing up correctly and some are showing album covers from other tracks. Some of the things I've read suggested that everything be organized in folders by Album and to have an AlbumArt.jpg in each folder. While this is doable, I haven't gotten around to reorganizing my library and would rather the phone just read artwork from the file. I have checked the id3 tags of some of the problem tracks, both with an app on the phone, and from my pc, and everything (including artwork) looks fine. Both the stock music player and several 3rd party players are displaying the information incorrectly and identical so it seems to me like Android is caching the data incorrectly. I've tried to delete the albumthumbs folder on the sdcard as well as Settings->Manage Applications->Media Storage->Clear Data. It just gets regenerated incorrectly.
I think this is related to my next problem. It seems like the tracks that do not reside in their own album folders and sit directly in the Music folder are having the most problems. In particular the songs where there is no Album field in the id3 tags. The phone seems to think these all belong to the album "Music" - must be resorting to looking at the containing directory if no album is found in the tags. What's odd is that even though it thinks several tracks belong to this Music album, its now showing the same artwork for each of them.
What is the ideal way to organize music for playback on Android? Would sorting everything info folders by Album solve my problems? Do I need to make sure I don't have any blank Album tags?
On a side note, is anyone familiar with how iTunes stores its Album art? I'm looking for an easy way to maintain consistency between my iTunes library and what is on my phone. I'm thinking of developing a small application that can scan both libraries and detect differences to keep them synchronized. All of my music is on my old Macbook which I hardly use, but I listen to it pretty much exclusively on my Android phone. The problem is we also have an iPad that I'd like to keep the music on so I can't ditch iTunes entirely.
Thanks for any advice.

[Q] [HELP] Media Player able to recogize samples

Hello members of XDA, Im new so forgive me if I post this in the wrong area.
im looking to develop a certain Android app, essentially, its a media player that is able to recognize samples of a song, isolate it, and allow you to search for other songs that sample it.
I have NO idea what I would need for this, I figure it would have to be a database of some sort along with a script or code in the app that can tag it, the problem is I know very little on how MP3s are built or how I can possibly do this without having the program actually look through the song itself. Also, it would have to be able to function as a off-line media player (granted without the sampling feature).
Thanks for any help
Just to clarify, its not like how Shazam hears a song and gives you the name, it would work based on some sort of tagging system.
Start off by using/understanding SoundHound as a base and progress from there...SoundHound has the ability to recognise, identify and tag a (incl lyrics) part of any song but it uses an online DB as reference. You then have the option to purchase that song from Amazon (or other online music store) or the entire album blah blah...so IMHO, this is a good place to start.

Media Library managment options for music and video

I am running Bubbleupnp and i love it.. streaming music to my TV from my computer controlled by my phone is amazing.
a am also running XBMC for movies and TV shows.
So my question is.
What library options do i have.
options i am looking for
I would like the library to gather album and artists data much like xbmc does
I would also like a library that could check the songs DNA to find the correct name
I would like the library to be able to edit the files data to include artist/album/genre info ect.
I would LOVE a library that will delete duplicate files
I would like the library to edit the names of music to just the song title
I would like the library to manipulate the source library by changing music folders around and putting every song by the same artist in the same folder.
i currently have over 10,000 songs and only about 5000 of them are in folders. some folders are albums, some are artists, some are compilation albums (like "Misc Dubstep") and some songs i have edited by cutting off intros or long stupid outros thus removing all artist data but the songs are still recognizable by DNA...
My library has been growing and getting more and more chaotic over the last 10 years or so. its become too much of a task to even attempt this myself.
I know there are programs that will do what i want... just not sure if there is an all inclusive Library Managment software outthere that i am unaware of. i would love to stop seeing [ ? ] icons when i stream upnp music to my phone or tv
What are my options
OK found some software and tried it out
MediaMonkey seemed good up front.. thought i had it with that one.. turned out that its more manual then automated. I clicked a file to edit and clicked on tracks with unknown artists... went to the search and hit apply.. and it changed teh album cover art, album, and artist to about 60 songs but put them all as Bach Cello suites.
after some research i did it wrong but the right way is more tedius. clicking one track at a time and updating the info you want.
so.. screw that program.
Then i found a program by accident when looking for help with the MediaMonkey called MusicBrainz
this is where its at...
now.. i dont know that it does Videos such as movies but i am more interested in the music..
So opened up and pretty straight forward..
i went into my music folder and searched for all files over 1mb (Size>1MB in the search) and moved all my music out of its containing folders
I then scrapped the leftover folders and random junk left.
Set MusicBrainz to the input folder
set the output folder to my normal music location
and set it to create folders with artist names and label the sons with only their song titles (%Artist%/%title%)
it took about 2 hours to run through the music and update the id3 tags
then that was all done the completed items go into the right pane of the program.
i selected all of them and hit save.. and boom.. its been pumping out folders for about
2 hours now with just the Artist name and no album folders. the way i like it.
I would recommend if your computer is not top notch do not try to do 10,000+ songs at once... my comp runs about 3grand 32gigs of ram and a quad core4ghz and my computer was boggin at times. also the program stopped responding if i messed with it too much.. i would recommend doing it in batches of 500 or 1000 at a time.
hope this helps someone else.. was super easy

[Completed] Google play music, no album

Hi I download all of my music from YouTube and I don't have any albums tags cause I don't feel a need for them. Anyway I have over 2000 songs and I put them in a "Music" folder on my SD card and Google music makes that the album name for all my music. If I take the music out of the folder, the album gets called "sdcard1". My question is, is there a way to make it not have any album name to avoid having to click twice of this screen of the artist? I'd just like it to show me all songs from that artist, not the albums to choose from then see all the songs. Thanks!
This what I mean:
Hi there,
Sorry for this late response. A simple reboot fixes the issue but I believe it has more to do with the Play Music App itself and less to do with the phone. I have not found a permanent fix, but I have however notice the issue is more prevalent when connecting and disconnecting Bluetooth Audio or connecting or disconnecting headphones with built in controls.
Maybe asking in the bellow threads will give you more answers related to this issue:
