Butter. Just butter. Maybe melted butter.

Very smooth scrolling.

Extremely smooth especially compared to the old Note 4 I used

It took three years but now Project Butter is here. This thing is smooth. Usually with AMOLED screens there's some ghosting and trailing of text when scrolling on a black background. It looks pretty choppy and I find this super annoying about the Note 4. The 6P doesn't have this problem. Scrolling looks buttery smooth even on an AMOLED black background.
I'll never leave Nexus with its, now, flagship competing camera.

Smoothest phone I've used to date.

just one word: Excellent

Never had a phone as smooth as this

I compared it side by side to a Samsung Galaxy 6 and the 6P was noticeably slower to me than the Galaxy 6.

This phone is by far the smoothest and best device I've ever used. However, I do have issues with scrolling but it's only in apps that use the Android System WebView as the browser. Apps for me like Facebook and RedditIsFun that use this to open up external links like to jump around a lot with scrolling. If I use chrome it's completely smooth.
P.S. if you want a good chuckle, go check out the reviews of Android System WebView.

So I just uninstalled the updates for this app and everything is completely smooth. Weird.

Way smoother than I am at kissing girls, hence the article reading

Smoothest scrolling I've seen on an Android phone so far

Very smooth scrolling! Definitely outclasses the Zenfone 2 which I had attributed to having some of the smoothest scrolling I'd seen on an Android device beforehand.

superrr butery smoooth!

Awesome, the smooth is beyond godness

This telephone is really really smooth. The best on in my opinion, about that.

Butterlicious
Just a little smoother than my Nexus 4 that it replaced... Awesome... I am amazed that my Z3 compact behaves as if it has terrets in comparison to both (which is 2 years newer than my nexus 4).

It's okay.

Smoothest device I've used so far, only catch is when entering developer settings - can take a second or two to respond. Other than that, everything is awesome.

Hmm glad to see such good feedback on the scrolling smoothness. I bought a note 5 and was very disappointed. So glad to see positive reviews.

gtab scolling vs ipad

Hi all,
Before I start, let me state I love my gtab.
Buttttt, when scrolling the desktop or webpages it is no match for the silky smooth interface
as the ipad. I thought the gtab had higher hardware specs?
Different software. Its also dependent on the website. Flash enabled sites are choppier usually. Xda isn't as smooth as engadget for me either.
Not 100% sure but the gui in ios is accelerated by the gpu Android has yet to enable this might be in Honeycomb.
Also I find if you have flash set to on, as opposed to on demand its much choppier as well. On demand seems to be much smoother.

Try the VEGAn-Tab ROM with LauncherPro, and then reconsider those words.
Launcher pro and fennec web browser seem to be the smoothest for me. It really is just the software. Hopefully honeycomb fixes it.
What they said. This is really just a few issues with some of the stock software.
iOS browser feels "smooth" because it doesn't re-render mid-scroll. But I find it very annoying that it's so slow when scrolling on complex pages relative to my G Tab. Once you're used to the G Tab it's hard to go back to iOS, in my opinion.
xScope browser in full screen mode is far smoother and better than the iOS browser. No waiting for re-rendering mid-scroll, and it just feels great.
And regarding scrolling in Launcher, like the others said, LauncherPro is smooth as a baby's bottom.

App launch speed

Not as fast here versus the Note5, but very top notch. Apps launch super quick
Seems on-par or better than other flagship devices.
For me apps are launching very quickly. So I would say app launch speed is excellent.
top notch speed here. I noticed the camera is way faster on custom builds.
top notch speed as well. all good
Yeah it has a top notch speed, seems a pretty good phone.
Even Google Hangouts launches quickly
wow looks great speedy phone
my mate 8 is extreamly fast but no custom roms haha

Actually I am interested in Mate8 because of its biiiiiiiger screen and best Soc at this moment, but I really care about the stock Android haha so little bit confuse, now holding N6 and feeling pretty good...
BUTTER
I just unlock Dev options and turn down the animation speeds as much as you want for a snappier response time.
I wish that game developers would optimize games for Android like they do for iOS. Take Angry Birds 2 and Deer Hunter 2016 for instance, those 2 games open lightning fast on iOS, but on the 6p, there's a noticeable delay when it's loading for the first time.
Upgrading to 7.x Android N will make a difference. The Just-In-Time compiler optimises app code and minimises delay.
Apps are claimed to install / load 75% faster.

I'm already running Nougat and the iPhone still smokes the 6p and the Pixel at opening games.

We're not having the iPhone or the iOS ecosystem in subject here.
Extremely satisfied with the app launch speed of my 6P. Apps launch very quickly and in app performance is top notch. Phone restarts offer significant boost in performance if you haven't restarted it for a month or 2. It's still not noticeable in daily use.
Not great

Fastest phone I have used
Much faster and smoother than my Note 7.
Like how it always should've been
I have tried 5 different phones in the past year. Everything from LG to Samsung to Apple. I really loved the Samsung Camera but it always had something I referred to as the Samsung Lag. I've had the S3, S4, Note 4, Note 5, S6 and S7. And all the phones seemed to have it. It was just a noticeable lag in everything that you did. Almost like it was running out of memory. The longer I use the phone, the more it builds up. On my S7 Edge I have 10 GB free, I try to reboot, etc. But it's always there. The quick double press to open the camera takes 3-4 seconds. Switching between apps takes a few seconds.
I am glad to say that the Pixel has none of this. It's like buttah. This is the first Google phone (including Nexus) that I've ever owned and now I know why they are so popular. It's hard to explain in text, get your hands on one and try to slwo it down. It's close to apple, which for anyone who has used both before, knows that is high praise. (Apple is amazing with the fluidity of their phones)
Faster than any other Android phone I've had, coming from a Note 7 and S7 Edge.
faster than my nexus 6, for sure
It's stupid fast.
Astonishingly fast and really smooth. Fastest phone I ever had. Coming from a Note 5.
Two years and an better processor makes a huge difference. Played games on the Pixel XL that slowed my Nexus 6 to a crawl.
Beyond fast. After two days still zero lag every single time. Zero. Amazing.
Super Fast coming from note 7 and S7 edge replacements. Love it.
Sent from my Pixel XL using XDA-Developers mobile app
So far in your opinion, how would you say this matches up to the note 7 overall?

Agree !!! no lag super fast, so far help me look past the inferior screen and appearance of the phone when compare to a Note 7.
Coming from a Nexus 5 running CM 13 nightly. The Nexus 5 had been running incredibly smoothly of late, and I was actually a little worried that I wouldn't notice too much of a change with the Pixel XL.
Holy wow, was I impressed. I have been running the phone non-stop, browsing all kinds of ad-heavy pages, playing several games per day and navigating for 2+ hours last Saturday. No lag at all.
Unrelated, the battery life has been impressive, too. Mostly browsing and playing games yesterday, it went from 97% to 70% from 7:40 AM to 5:30 PM.
Coming from a bunch of phones... OP3, HTC 10, iPhone 6s+, iPhone 7, Nexus 6p and others..... The Pixel XL easily beats them all in any speed category you want to try.. the iPhone 7 might look better on a bench mark but in real life this pixel smokes it!! really really impressed!

If you dont need the stylus it is way faster, more responsive. I actually like the size better than the note 7. I have big hands and the note 7 was harder to hold for me. The note 7 also started to get noticeable screen lag after 2 weeks and got worse as time went on.
Awesome, thanks.. Still trying to find a phone after turning in my note 7. was looking at the pixel xl and v20, leaning towards pixel

well, if you are into custom roms and such, the Pixel is an easy choice; the LG phones almost never get rooted, and very little, if any dev on them...
Fast af. Very impressed with this phone

No slow downs in scrolling, buttery smooth!
My Internet can be slow as an American Presidential Election campaign, so sometimes the pictures and ads load erratically. I have noticed how buttery smooth it has been even when they things are popping in while I scroll.
I haven't had a stutter yet, but I haven't done any sort of real testing on it. It just feels so natural.
That said, my Nexus 6 was pretty nice upon release, and it has some pretty bad lag issues these days. Only time will truly tell.
Only stutter I've noticed so far is in the Google Messenger app, when scrolling through the contacts quickly. Lags like crazy. It looks as though it's trying to load the little Alphabet picture next to each contact but can't do it quickly enough, so it lags. Chrome is also a bit on and off, but I'm assuming this is more ****ty development, as opposed to the phone itself.
When I use puffin browser I get a stutter sometimes
Nothing so far.
Chrome is a bit and miss out lags for me, Facebook is slow as well to scroll and open videos.
They need to update these apps to work smoother. Chrome should be doing this
Puffin browser smokes it
Some websites seem to stutter
Definitely still stutters and lag. It's a lot better than before, but it's by no means smooth all the time. All the reviewers that say it's silky smooth 100% of the time are smoking crack, because that's definitely not the case by any means.
BUT it seems to always be responsive and doesn't seem to hesitate much when switching apps etc. Overall it's a much better experience than before.

Well I guess I'll be the first to reply. I am not experiencing buttery scrolling! The Facebook app which is built into the UI stutters and hiccups constantly. Scrolling through web pages on Chrome is not buttery smooth in the slightest. Did I get a bad unit or is there anything that I can do to assist in smoothing my scrolling? I'm coming from an iPhone 7 plus and never had issues like this!
Haven't used the Facebook app but I find chrome to be smooth. Try going to chrome://flags and enabling smooth scrolling to see if that helps.
In my experience, chrome always ran like garbage on Samsung phones. This is the first time I can say that's no longer the case! (My last one was s7).
have not found any problems yet on scrolling its buttery smooth

I would say the same, it's fast and fluid and scrolling is smooth for me without any jitter, hope this remains :good:
Samsung is known to jitter and lag. It can never be as smooth as a pixel
I used the SM-G-965F model for about a month and then switched to the SM G-9650 model available locally. No issues with smoothness with either of them but G-9650 is little faster at everything.

...is that an experience feedback from someone who runs the S9+ or just a prejudice? Naming the brand Samsung only means throwing a J3, A5, S9, S9+ in the same pot and compare these to a Pixel? What a confusing world this is
Let's continue with a fact: I do own a S9+ for 3 months now. I packed it full with apps and didn't experience lags yet. Hope it stays this way, it's really a high performance phone to me. But what do I know...? :good:
