is the best of best, but with my opo CM12.1 Nightly is laggy with screen off gestures.

I prefer JetAudio, because it has many feature(s) and volume control slider

Phonograph is beautiful. I like it.

Neutron if you have the hardware. It has the best sound...

The player in MIUI7 is great.

I noticed no one suggested Musixmatch, I am using it for the last couple years and never look back, you can use it for music recognition, lyrics, folder playback and it has a great UI too.

poweramp. still with viper

Musixmatch is perfect + free lyrics there

I've been using poweramp for about 2 years and God knows why I still have to find a better music player.

Download link:

Installed beside the normal music application, no conflicts or any problems
but just in case backup your the old music using titanium backup
The only thing i miss and the same reason i don't use MIUI player, is the capability of switching tracks right from the notification bar when multitasting, but all in all looks like an awesome player.
enjoy and press thanks if u like it
Moderators, I apologize if this is in the wrong place, just wanted to share the app.
thanks for the share
I really like its UI but for me stock music player is best...simple & effective. Stock music player has inbuilt equilizer which is really good. In this new player when i choose sound effects then it directly opened me equilizer app. Its strange. Does this music player dont have its own equilizer? I think no...!

[REQ] Equilizer from Xperia S for FeraLab rom

I noticed that the stock music player on Xperia S has equalizer...however the equalizer is missing in the latest FeraLab rom.
So if anyone can make patch to add the equalizer to the music player it would be great.

You can get it from market. u know that right? equalizer
the equalizer in the xperia s music player is different, it has another frequency range that can be adjusted and it has a clear bass switch
well...if u said it is different.. this is from Fera ROM
u can just install it. i using this and the TEAM bar from fera ROM on MIUI! =)
I was thinking about this equalizer....to stock music player

This is the eq you are seeking, its from the xperia S music app.
to make it work, you must delete another equalizer you have installed in your phone, like dsp manager, etc.
Thx kalel29 this is what I was after. ))))
does this also work on cm7?

What media player do you use?

I used a lot of ROMs, but I have not really got the best built in media player. The HTC stock player is good, but could be better, CM's Apollo is too much, and relies on data. I tried Sony Walkman, and just didn't like the UI. Then I downloaded Mixzing, it is good, but it is not simplistic. Don't get me wrong, I love messing with tweaks, but it just had too much going for it. However, I do keep it for identifying songs, and automatically filling in ID3 tags. So far, I am using Poweramp, and it is smooth and simple, but powerful as well.
Now if it just played videos, that would be great, but I have JoeVLC for that. The best darn VLC port on Android if you ask me.
Try doubleTwist (does audio and video, very clean ui) and maybe the miui music app. I use mvideoplayer for video. Great great video player.

Thanks for the vlc link.
I use poweramp if I'm using good headphones. I like the sound it produces.

Tried that. A bit farfetched, and money hungry for simple features. I was really looking for id3 editing. Plus 4.99 for wireless transfers? That is what open SSH is for

winamp on android doesn't take advantage of sound mods
Apollo, Only when I have This audio mod.
Makes the phone's speaker sound godly and the headphones sound even better.
Music: Poweramp. (the best music player so far)
Video: MX Player (trust me, It's the best in the market)
I use Nexmusic/Nexmusic Nightly Beta for music (obviously) haha and MX Player for videos (best video player EVER). For editing song info I use Pimp My Music.

Good things here. Making me want to try MX player. I use vlc on PC, and it does wonders. Especially like the lock function. What is a good mod to get "glorious" sound? Obviously beats audio isn't what it is cracked up to be

I used to use this when I was running the Sense roms but it's currently not supporting 4.2.2 so I'm using this. Both of them make the phone loud and the audio pretty great. I leave BEATS BOOST on Slight, Equalizer on R&B, and sometimes I turn on the VIRTUAL ROOM EFFECT which I leave on Studio.

What's the best music player available on Android?

Why do you use the music player you have? What makes it special? Plus, does it work well with iTunes?
Sent from my Cyanogenmod-Captivate.
Well, that depends on the person. Me personally I use either apollo or poweramp. In my opinion, Itunes sucks
Player Pro is the best for me,with lockscreen widget.

For me.. I move from player pro to jet audio plus..
Player pro have more sound, bigger n badder.. .. But in headphone, it get annoying to have many noise..
Besides, jet audio.. Give me more clear n pure output..
Since im in xperia now, sure i have walkman to for bigger n badder sound..
So..say goodbye to player pro.. Thanks for the time we spent together

N7Player Lots of options, good sound, lockscreen overlay.
And I only use iTunes for my iPod, simply because I have no other choice. Every other moment it sits disabled on my pc untill I ask for it. Horrendously crap program.
I prefer Google Music, due to my small sdcard
Poweramp!!
I use either poweramp or Apollo. I like poweramp because it has the best eq out of all the players I've tried. Also it has a very great UI in that it is simple to use, and has a wealth of settings for a person who likes to dial in things. However, the downside is that it cost $4. Apollo also has a great UI too but there's no eq. However, when using viper4android (eq that works with ALL system sounds including music players) it makes it revivals poweramp's eq and sometimes surpasses it lol. So if you can't pay $4 you can go with the latter since it is free. Also I forgot to mention both have a lot of great themes but Apollo has more free ones and I don't use iTunes because imo it is too locked down and I'm not in Apple's ecosystem.

Poweramp is just awesome. You get a lockscreen app and automatically downloads album art (if you want). I guess the downside is that you have to pay for it. Worth it though.
Player Pro is freeeee music player with many features
I think it's the best player available in the market

Just search walkman 4.6 on xda .. And u will found a thread by ibanez if not mistaken.. Then flash it through ur cwm recovery.. But before flash the walkman .. Remove ur other equalizer to prevent conflict..

N7 is cool and all, but I prefer Poweramp.
poweramp for the WIN !
I used poweramp, I got board with it. I like Rocket player now. Really nice and polished UI with a lot of themes available.

Apollo Music Player?

Does anyone have the apk for it that has been tested to work with 4.4? And with apollo player having flac playback, is it native? Or is it like google play music in which it just down samples it to 320kbps upon playing?

Download any cyanogenmod build for any xHDPI device and extract the apk from system/app inside the ZIP for it.
Then remove the zip because it is obsolete.

Sure thing! h ttps://f-droid.org/
For those that have it, have you tested flacs on it? Do they play natively with no down sampling? This is my biggest concern; there just doesn't seem to be any elegant solution for playing flacs right now. Poweramp and winamp are clunky and heavy to say the least, and andLess is so bare bones and lacks a lot of features compared to Apollo.

Thanks for directing my towards Shuttle. It has all I was looking for in a music player. I encourage everybody to try it.
It handles 4.4.1 without a problem on my Nexus 5. Widget background colour and transparency are customisable, buttons can be dark or light to fit your wallpaper. There are themes and lots of settings. Even though free version is all I need I'm going to buy Shuttle+ as a token of my appreciation to developers hard work.
