[Completed] Can I update my rooted Nexus 7 (2013)? - XDA Assist

Hi I am making this new thread because I have recently rooted my Nexus 7 (2013) and everytime I turn on my tablet a notification pops up and says systeam update downloaded and if I press install it turns off my tablet and instead of installing it puts me in team win recovery project. I am wondering if there is any way to update my tablet without losing my root I also heard that 6.0.0 recently released so I am intersted in installing it Lastly if I install 6.0.0 and it slows my tablet's performance will I be able to downgrade my tablet and if yes how? I am running on Google Nexus 7 (2013) 5.1.1 lollipop.

Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
You need to flash a stock recovery, and probably unroot (or preserve root), to continue.
From your device's FAQ:
If all you do is root or unlock the bootloader then you will continue to receive OTA notifications from Google. Please be aware that root will be lost if you don't preserve it through your SU app.

Finally, there is a way to downgrade, but it seems the only surefire way is to downgrade with the stock fastboot images, and that takes you far back:
> Nexus 7 (2013) > Nexus 7 (2013) General > [GUIDE] Factory Image Posted-Return your Nexus 7 (2013) to stock
Can then build yourself back up with these OTA's, applied in order:
> Nexus 7 (2013) > Nexus 7 (2013) General > [REF] Nexus 7 (2013) Stock OTA URLs
Any questions, you can ask in any of these threads.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

[Q] Multirom

Hey guys! I have a Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013) and I am going to try to use multirom. My question is when you get multirom and you go to install it your only choices are Android 4.4, stock 4.4.1, 4.4.2, or Cm 11. Since I am running the PAC-MAN rom I am confused on which to choose. Any help would be great!

[Q] Android L Update questions

Hello people,
I have a question regarding updating my rooted LG Nexus 5 to Android L, my current Android version is 4.4.2.
So when Android L is released for the Nexus 5, should I:
- Go back to stock, full wipe the entire phone and update OTA and go back to root
- Just dirty flash Android L over 4.4.2 ( Is that even possible ? )
or something else ? I have not many experience with updating my rooted phone, so if someone can tell me the best and easy way it would be great.
**If I full wipe the phone, is the best backupp app still TitaniumBackupp or are there other ways ?**
Phone information:
- Rooted LG Nexus 5
- Stock kernel and TWRP Custom Recovery
- Xposed Framework installed
- Version 4.4.2
wait for a rooted ROM to flash in recovery, or flash the factory IMG. if you wait for a rooted ROM, you can try dirty flashing. if no issues, then good. if not, wipe then flash the rooted ROM.
Titanium backup is still the best. But, backup it's backup to your pc before you flash L. You're most likely going to have to wipe your device to get it working.

[Completed] [Q] Nexus 7 Android L Update isnt availabel

The Update(Android L 5.0) is still not available for my nexus 7(2012 Wifi) ,i thougt that the update is rolled out completely. My Device is not rooted.(I live in Germany)(sry grammer isnt the best)
Hi,
Here is a thread on the subject, you can join the discussion here too,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7/general/updated-eta-android-5-0-t2927240
If you're on stock rom and Stock recovery and haven't altered the system partition, you should get and be able to install the Lollipop ota. But it's rolled out in stages, some Nexus 5 owners are still waiting, and it began before the 2012 N7.....so you'll need to be patient.
Good luck !

Yes, Android is like your desktop, you select the rom you want to flash and you flash it through a custom recovery. It doesn't matter what's already installed.
