One aspect of the update was the promise of better battery life...but pretty much every update states that.

Works after update

Works here too

Awesome. Thank you!

So what's this update anyways?
Is this the newer version of the software that first got released in Singapore a week or 2 ago? I'm curious because of the oj6 ending of our update and oj4

I am stock with root, can't update so in order to get the update I have to flash stock kernel ?

Ive noticed if your playing a video you can keep it in its own window, and still scroll threw other applications.

So far I think its pretty good. With 15 hours of standby, 1 hr SOT with 4g always on only used 15% so far.

Lost sprint spark startup screen, phone is sluggish, and reception is much worse than before update.

Looks like a Verizon S3 ota update is imminent

Nothing too earth shattering if you read the official statement from Verizon, but may have a fix for those with SIM troubles.

But, if we are rooted, we don't want to update. Right? Thank-you
right, the safest way to update is to restore back to stock, stock kernel, and DEFINITELY re-lock your bootloader if you have it unlocked.

I wouldn't do it if I were you. Not while rooted....Can brick your phone I heard.
Do not update if u are rooted.
Well if you can't update while rooted, what are you supposed to do if it auto updates? I was just sitting in bed and noticed that my notification went off on my phone and not on my tablet (meaning not email). I checked the phone and if I hadn't noticed it would have auto updated and I am rooted on stock. It said the update would start in 3 minutes after I heard the notification. I deferred until tomorrow and have my phone how I want it, so I really don't want to go back to stock. I suppose I could make a nandroid.
It really scares me though that Verizon almost pushed an update that could have potentially bricked my phone. I don't think that is right, quite honestly.

Is it the MG1 firmware?
Updated. It is in fact MG1. I don't know if it locks the bootloader though. There is a new "Secure boot status" "type: Samsung" in about device.
Maybe I shouldn't have updated!
Update:
Like the update that has hit other countries before, it adds app2sd support. SEEMS smoother, i. e. no stutter going back to home screen etc. (but is it just a placebo effect?!)

I highly doubt it locks the boot loader. That's a carrier thing. And Canadian version is luckily always boot loader unlocked. That status is about knox

Funny, me too (wrt placebo effect) It does seem to boot up the camera quicker and launch the gallery app better. Rooted to get my multi-window app back and everything is looking good.
I can confirm that Chainfire's CF-Root provides you with root access again after installing this update. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2293800
Please make sure you thank Chainfire for his effort.
As I use my camera a fair bit, it's great to see that it launches must faster and is far smoother. I can also confirm that you can now move apps to your SD card.

Cool! How does it run compared to 10d? Can you install bumped twrp? Root? I imagine it's possible AT&T included aspects from later builds, so theoretically you could get a decent jump in performance if they have.

Yeah the only thing is. This isn't Android L. It's a 4.4.2 incremental update. My guess is they caught on to bump. But as someone has said we can downgrade with the flash tool right now. But that might not be the case when lollipop is deployed.
