[APP][4.4+] Audify App - The Honourable Speaker of Notifications - Android Apps and Games

Hello Folks,
Notifications are a major source of frustration for many android users. As we install more apps, we get insanely more number of notifications as well.
After lot of frustrating experiences with annoying notifications at wrong times ( Listening music, Driving or Riding ), I started developing Audify.
Intent of Audify is to smartly skip annoying, less important notifications and keep the user informed about incoming notifications with no effort.
After three months of development, Here is Audify for everyone,

Audify can read notifications while you ride/drive while it smartly ignores annoying, less important notifications.
Audify can read notifications even on device speaker, If you want.

I've got pretty simple needs for this - just hearing call and text message notifications. What I'd really like (and can the app do this?):
* Will read out name of incoming caller while the ringtone is going "John Doe is calling...."
* Will read out name of incoming text sender, but not the contents of the text "You've got a new message from John Doe"
The other notifications are a bonus (can it say from something like K-9 or Kaiten mail "You've got mail" or "You've got 10 new emails" for instance but not the subject of each note?)
Thanks, looks good just a few questions

Hi Adam,
Thanks for the comment.
Audify does read incoming caller id and messages as they are posted as a notification as well. You can easily mute the apps that you are not interested and enable only the apps that you want to hear from.
For now, There is no option to ask Audfify to just read the title. But there is something that I am working on which will enable the users to customise notifications for each app.
Thanks ?

Stay tuned @stivelio . I can easily add that feature to Audify. You can then disable all other apps and just enable the dialer app.

To anyone who is not on version 0.8.0, update! Thanks!
To anyone who uninstalled due to inconsistency in call screen, please give 0.8.0 a try. You will not be disappointed
Sorry for the lack of updates! I've been very busy. 0.8.0 introduced a lot more bugs and instability than I had expected but pretty much everything should be fixed in 0.8.0.7. If you find something please let me know! Now that the app is at a good point of stability, I will be adding more features and customizations. I promise! First thing to come is QVGA support.
Here are some features that came from users that will be coming soon (in no particular order):
-Social network integration
-Show caller location based on area code
-Send location via sms
-Custom entry tags and custom lists
BETA Version 0.8.0.8.1 *Current*
-Save SMS to message thread
-Lots of fixes in this update
-Fixed sms occasional force close
-Fixed in-call screen not appearing after answering call!
-Fixed having to stop/start app after reboot (does not use any services anymore)
-Improved overall stability
BETA Version 0.8.0.2
-Fixed force close issues. Sorry!
BETA Version 0.8.0.1
-Major change in display of call screen. No more occasional stock call screen!
-Fixed bug where lock pattern displayed over call screen
-Other small bug fixes
-Fixed crash reporter
BETA Version 0.7.9.1
-Ad-supported
-Automatic crash reporter
-Displays number type (Home, Mobile, etc.)
-SMS bug fix
BETA Version 0.7.5
-Custom background color
BETA Version 0.7.6
PLEASE UNINSTALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS
-Add tags to messages for number input
-Should open more consistently
-Open SMS thread for incoming number

works on my samsung galaxy s, however after clicking the pickup call button, i still have to unlock it the basic way (Slide it) to listen to the call. Is there anyway to disable that?
anyway to make the caller pic bigger like on the iphone
finally, a decent app works perfect on the htc evo with no problems,
would be a nice to customize the answer and end buttons so it goes well with peoples themes etc.
but good job dev.

This feature is planned for the full release, along with many other customizations. The current version is 0.7.9.1 so I recommend you download from the market, as it includes an automatic crash reporter to help me sort out bugs and other fixes.
I have found a much better way of overriding the incoming call screen (sort of hacky right now) which will be implemented in version 0.8.0. This will make the app much more stable and efficient and the call screen will open much more consistently.
Also included in version 0.7.9.1 is the addition of admob ad banners on the settings page (there are NO banners on the actual call screen). This is mostly to support the development of this app during its beta stages. Eventually the app will be paid with the possibility of a free, ad-supported version. The paid version will not be appearing very soon, though, as the app is far from ready. Keep in mind, the beta versions of this app do not represent the final product. They are only for feedback and testing. Thanks
Awesome application!!!

Sweet! Also, just a question. I see the Google Code page has a Source tab but there's nothing in it. Is this going to be Open Source or is that tab showing just an accident?
EDIT: Just saw you plan a paid version, so I doubt you're releasing the source. Carry on!
Has Google Voice text option been added yet? I don't have texted on my normal number.

[APP] [>= 2.1] Calendar Notifier (recurrent events notification)

This application implements the recurrent reminders for calendar alarms, which strangely has not been included in any version of Android.
With this application you can set the sound, vibration type, number of repeats and interval between them of each calendar event reminders, and even set separately the settings of each of the calendars.
This application is a battery, and runs only when it is displaying an alert.
Note: Remember to disable the standard application reminders in order to don't duplicate the first reminder.
BUGS
Please, in case of bugs you can post the description (logcat appreciated) in this
thread or directly by email.
PERMISSIONS
This application uses the next related permissions:
READ_CALENDAR and WRITE_CALENDAR
In order to obtains access to the calendar events
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED
In order to run when the device boot ends
READ_PHONE_STATE
In order to known if a phone call is running (to autosnooze)
VIBRATE
To vibrate (if configured)

Hi, thanks for this good app. Please continue the good work.
I noticed a bug since the latest update: now I was forced to close the reminder window because it was stuck (either if you click snooze or dismiss, it's the same problem).
Before this update, the reminder window closed itself properly, just after you clicked snooze or dismiss.
Hope you can fix this.
Best regards.

I had that too! It needed to presses to dismiss and then it did an FC. I thought it was my humble little phone.
And it is fixed! Outstanding, great support.
The other feature I really appreciate is that the Notifier works on calendars that are not visible. I have one named "hidden" that has daily reminders of little things that I forget, but the Notifier picks up ALL alarms in ALL calendars.
Perfect app, more than I had hoped it would do. I bought the unlock, thank you

[APP][2.2+] Scrolling Notifications Free (SMS, RSS, Twitter and more)

Hi xda!
I developed a new application and this is the free version!
This app makes your incoming sms, the rss example or tweets(from your timeline/mentions/DM) scroll on top of the screen in whichever application you are! Perfect for reading long sms without stopping playing your favorite game or watching a movie. You can directly respond to SMS and tweets, preview RSS article or open it in a browser. (and mark sms as read in paid version)
The settings screen shows you also the features of the paid version if you ever decide to upgrade (not all the settings changes will take effect on the free version )
There might be bugs so don't hesitate to report them to me, I'll do my best to correct them
If you want to help me translate the app in your language, I'll be very happy to provide you the necessary file in order to do it! For the moment, it is available in English, French and Swedish.
And here is the link! Scrolling Notifications Free
If you can't download on the market for one reason or another, here is a direct link but please prefer the market version, it's easier for statistics, plus there are explanations on the Play Store page

I added a RSS example if you select this mode. You will see titles of latest xda articles update and display once every 10minutes.
Great app, works well on my Galaxy Note. I'm eager to purchase the full app but i think it would be nice if the developer added support for Whatsapp.

Thanks for the feedback!
For the support of third-party apps it seems difficult to fully implement but using the accessibility service could help find a partial solution (you will in the scrolling bar what usually goes in the notification panel, the problem is if you have more than 1 unread messages it usually display something like "Mercury Messenger: 2 unread messages" without the content of these messages) but I'll sure look into it for some future versions!
By the way new version!
With 1.2.0 you can enable Sound/Vibration notification which mimics the states of your phone (Silent/Vibrate/Normal) so if you decide to disable the classic Android notification, you'll still have the sound/vibration/nothing(xD) for SMS! That was lacking!
Nice app, good idea, work well without problem. I used Notifier Pro but it's a big battery eater, it seems your app isn't.
I don't like the icon,as you can see in the screenshot the size of the text is not good, maybe due to my launcher i don't know...
I think interface could be improved too but it's a good beginning. I think i'll buy the pro version to support a french developper ;-)

Merci!
Yeah the icon sucked, I'm not a graphist, I wanted to render a scrolling effect by cropping the text on borders but it was a bad move . I changed the icon for the new version I just released (that's why I respond so late sorry!) I hope it's better but I'm open to any propositions/suggestions for modification!
Of course with the new version, there are new features!
Now in the free version you can touch the scrolling bar like in the paid version so you can directly respond to a sms or previsualize a RSS article or open it in a browser! ( You still cannot choose your RSS source in free version, and mark SMS as read is also only availaible in paid version. )
Hope you like it!
Quick update to say there is new video and screenshot in the OP to highlight the update!

Quick Question - Can I point this to my Google Reader account?
Yes of course!
Realy Great app
Direct link doesn't seem to be working, keep getting 404, tried Android and dolphin browsers.
The link broke when I uploaded the last version, sorry for that.
It's repaired now!
Great work!
Great app! I've been looking for something like this. Smart statusbar wasn't doing it for me, but this is perfect. Bought the paid version.
I've been looking around for non obtrusive notifications. This one is pretty awesome! Good work OP
Thanks guys for your support!
Next version progresses greatly: Twitter added and now you can have multiple bars for specific services or still only one bar with all notifications like before. And more features
Edit: I almost forgot that for the next version I finished a graphic update because Gingerbread version is not the same than ICS for Settings screen (ugly green buttons).
Hi!
Just bought the app! Very nice idea!
But I have some feature requests if it's ok?
When I receive an sms and answer to it in the app, I want my original message app to recognise that I have read and answered the sms. As it is now, when I answer via the app, my answer doesn't come up in the original conversation with that person. The message is also still showed as not read after I have answered the sms. Is it possible to fix? Tnx again for a nice project!

Material design!
*** Now with Qcktag Caller ID - known tags are shown when receiving/making calls! Enable it in Preferences. ***
What is it?
How often have you needed to save a phone number that you needed only for a short while?
You would add it to your contact list and clutter your contact list and it keeps growing uncontrollably. It would be difficult to find a contact from all the unwanted numbers that you just needed temporarily. Or you would not add it to the contact list and struggle through the call history to find that number when you want to give a call back.
A dilemma isn’t it? Qcktag to the rescue!
Every time you complete a call from/to an unknown number, Qcktag will ask you for a quick tag you can attach to the phone number. Tagged numbers are not sent to the contact list, but are accessible through the main Qcktag application.
Features
Material design!
Works for both incoming and outgoing calls
Works for incoming SMS too!
Option for either a notification or a popup asking for the tag
‘Tag Later’ - option to save all numbers as untagged and you can tag them later
Qcktag Caller ID - For tagged numbers, if you receive/make calls to them, the tag will be displayed when call is initiated or received.
Option to tag all numbers or only unknown numbers
Add tags manually, from existing contact or from call history!
If adding from existing contact, option is available to remove from contact list.
Quickly search for tags
Quickly call or message a tagged number. You can also share tags and add tags as calendar events
Option to add to contacts if you eventually find out it is a number worth keeping
Android Wear support! Now tag your phone calls with voice from your Android Wear watch
Backup and restore tags and preferences
If you find any bugs or mistakes in the application, please send me an email with your feedback and I promise I will work on it promptly. Let’s squish those bugs together.

* Fixed conferencing bug

Useful
Very useful app indeed - I would use it quite a bit. I was looking for something of this sort of an app. I like it, looks neat and works really well. Good that you kept the file size less than 500kb.
Bug I noticed: if I add a 'Touch to tag' item to contact list, the name in Add Contacts screen is showing as -DEF-. Maybe something that you use internally.
Also, maybe tag it later could be disabled by default for the free version?
@cproblems
Oops, yes - it is an internal code. It will be corrected in the next update.
Some nifty features are also planned soon - thanks for your feedback.

Can't tell you how many times I needed something like this to keep a number /contact for just for a day or two.
When perfected, Google needs to purchase this from you and integrate it with upcoming versions of Android-this is the sort of innovation that makes Apple look so lame...Well done!
Excellent idea! I'll give it a try and will probably purchase the full version when/if I find it really useful (I don't have much doubt about it).
Would you like for me to localise the app into French?
I added an 'x' as a contact marker for similar quick but unimportant contact saving
You can tell it is a 'unimportant/temp' # from the 'x', and they are grouped for easy removing....good concept though...
Excellent and more then useful.
Tnaks.
Exactly what i needed..!!
I have always wanted something like this
Fantastic work! Thanks dev! Was looking for this since a long time. Needed to store numbers of drivers etc. when on a trip and a million other use cases.
Incoming update
I just pushed an update to the app store!
In this release:
* Android Wear support! Now tag your phone calls with voice from your Android Wear watch
* Better notifications - delete tags and launch app from notification now
* Bug fixes
Let me know if you like the new notifications. Also if someone has Android Wear, please let me know if the voice tagging works. I do not have a Wear watch and the emulator did not support voice input. So, I am running a little blind here without feedback.
Thank you for all the feedback - I can't express how much it means to me.
Now Froyo and above 2.2+!
After a marathon coding session, I have managed to extend compatibility for older Android versions. The app now supports Android Froyo and above (2.2+)!
Maintaining backward compatibility is damn difficult! Don't worry, no functionality has been cut down from newer devices. They just work as before.
NOTE: I just pushed out the update. It should be available in the Play Store in a few hours.
Whoa fantastic concept. Ditto for having been looking for something like this for a long time.
May I suggest you post apk files on the OP because some of us don't have play store so we would rather just d/l from here.
Great job!
Don't forget to send me the strings so I can localize it into French, mate!
Sweet app! Thanks. Any chance of an update including text messages?

Got the update!!! Makes it complete now! Great work!
Tried to use it for a week note. Not a single pop-up or notification! It simply doesn't work on my SGS3, Android 4.3! What can possibly be wrong?

the idea is very good, but in my opinion it needs a better design. I dont know if you plan to change the design of the app, but you should think about that, maybe switch bubbles style and some of the icons and add some material design or something. Its one of the main things that users look when choosing a sms app because there are already a lot of sms apps to choose from with lots of features.
hope you dont take my opinion the wrong way.For such a new release, the app is very good!

Τhe main advantage of the app should be the speed. So design is in low priority for my opinion.Yes the design of an application is very important and many users love material!
OP keep up the good work and we are here to make your application even better!
Looks promising
But I can't see it at Google Play (Honor 3C)... One more thought: It could be hard to explain to a mass of users why they should download this app...
Nice app! I just have a couple of suggestions: can you make an option so that an incoming text starts the app, but with the closed "chathead" instead of the entire pop up? It can be pretty distracting to have the entire pop up show up all the time, but the chathead would be great (like FB Messenger).
Also, can you make the size and transparency of the chathead customizable? Currently it's a bit too big and opaque to have around for a longer period of time, which is what I'm looking for. Thanks so much!!
Sorry! i only support 4.2+ I will try support 4.0+
You must have android 4.2+, because i will support 4.2+

Great app. I like how it shows seconds as well for the sent and received times.
Would it be possible to add an option to display the times received messages were sent? This is a common option in many full SMS applications.
Lots of potential here. Subscribed to the thread and looking forward to future updates.
This is the only SMS app I've used that shows the times in seconds. Really great feature, especially if you can implement the sent times for received messages.
Thanks

That would be great – being able to get a closed chat head pop up that we can click to respond to the message rather than the full pop up would make this app so much more usable for me! Thank you!
Also, I can't seem to select a contact from the list without entering in their full number without any parentheses () or dashes -. Is that ability only available in the pro version?
Thanks for the continued development!
