Hello, I have this phone (8gb) since August and never noticed how much storage I have until now because it started notifying me storage was full. Well, it says total space is 4,53gb and without /system 3,60. So my question is, where is the 4gb of storage that I don't see? I was hoping it was occupied by /system but it is not. We're talking about a half of the storage and it's unbelievable that I cannot use at least 5 of the 8 I've payed for.
Any help would be very appreciated!
4.53 gb is your /data partition(user apps and data are stored here), other space is used in /system partition where all system files are located.
Is there a way to resize the partitions?

it was possible to resize partitions in many phones and there are also apps available on playstore for it. but you should reset it to default before flashing any rom. :/

when I was using stock, my system partition was filled by 1.5gb from 2.19gb. there is still some space there but you shouldn't reduce it because it will get filled over time with app updates. and there will be problem with ota updates if you resize it.

With all the lighter custom ROMs we have today, the default huge /system partition we have in the O3D is a waste of space. Same with the /data partition. For those who don´t know, both /system and /data (and other smaller ones) are actual internal SD Card space!
That´s why we have LG specs saying we have 8GB of internal flash storage, when in fact we have just 5.5GB available.
So my question is: is there a (safe) way to wipe all internal SD partitions and then recreate them with more appropriate sizes, earning back all the wasted space?

Have you read about data2ext? I think it would be a very good solution to us.

However, I think I´m looking for something different: as far as I know, data2ext changes the /data partition pointer to external memory (SD Card), so the original /data partition will never be used by the OS, and it´s space will be wasted, right?
I would like to find a way to get this wasted space back! If we could repartition /system, /data, /cache, to smaller sizes, we would have more storage space for stuff on the internal SD. Does it make sense? Thanks!

Don't we have to be s-off to be able to resize the partitions ?
I did it a lot on my HTC Desire.
BTW do you have any idea in which block data and sd-ext are mounted on our device ?
I believe the S-OFF flag exists only in HTC devices. I read that somewhere here, at XDA. The guy seemed to know what he was talking about, and he said LG never implemented any kind of protection like S-ON / S-OFF.
About the block names, I believe you can list the blocks and the partition names they´re mounted as, with the "df" command. I know almost nothing about Linux, and even less about how Android manage it´s partitions, but that would be nice to be able to tweak their sizes...
LG GT540's partitions can easily be resized by flashing an MBN file. Don't know if this phone can get that done too

The 12MB phone storage is what's killing you. In 'Manage Apps' under 'Settings', you can click on each individual app and send some of the larger ones to the SD card. You can also try clearing data for the Facebook app, which can hold a lot of data due to contact photos if you use it.
Just for curiosity's sake, what phone are you using?

It sounds like you don't have apps2sd installed, or that the ext4 partition isn't recognised properly. I remember it was particularly fussy about whether the ext4 part was the first partition in the table or not, I'm not sure if this is still the case

With previous SD card, There's 12mb free internal storage and 134mb a2sd free, 238 a2sd occupied.
So i really dont understand now :/. This partition is working but not all space in a2sd are used (134mb) free , but also 238 a2sd occupied. So its working, so why i get Low on space :/ .
On new card I made 1gb partition and 0 occupied.
And i cant run restore in titanium backup, because it shows there's no space, but i adjusted to write everything to external storage in titanium backup settings.
Please help, because now i bought a new card and cant use it :/ .

The phone will never show that you've added to phone storage, because you can't. Adding an SD partition won't increase your phone storage at all, it just gives you a place to put all your apps so they don't take up your actual phone storage.
There is something on your phone taking up the ~150MB phone storage. It may be contact photos, it may be SMSs/MMSs, it may be camera pictures and videos (if you haven't set the camera to save to SD by default). You've already moved your apps so it's not those. You need to go through all your apps and see how much each is individually using (in 'manage apps').
Pay particular attention to 'contacts storage', 'calendar storage' etc as they are usually the hogs in my experience, and you can't move them. If you sync your Facebook contacts with your phone, the photos and details can easily use over 200MB.

I understood about memmory usage. Cleaned almost everything in phone memmory, but still 18mb left.
Its just a new SD card and so many problems. Now apps cant find root access, watahell ? My phone was always rooted .

1. Something happened to root. Titanium gets root rights. I BusyBox installer shows that my phone is rooted, but when i push install busybox it fails .
In titanium backup i press "Problems?" and it offers to updade superuser. I press Update superuser and imedietly get force close.

Try rooting again. If you're S-OFF already, SuperOneClick will make mincemeat of your Desire in one click (link in my signature)

I have an SD card of 64Gb and arround 20-25Gb of datas (including TWRP backup) but only 10Gb remain free. As you can see on the pictures, several Gb are missing. I have an idea of the cause, but no idea of the solution to free them.
I did a dual-boot on my tf700 to put lubuntu aside android. After using it a few months, I had some trouble and try to reinstall it ( I couldnt't syncronise zotero anymore because the version of firefox was to old and it was impossible to get a newer version without upgrading lubuntu and the upgrading of lubuntu was not working...) . As it was not working even after reinstalling lubuntu, I had to reinstall it a few times and I think that every times it occupied more space on my SD. As I'm not an expert, I decided to wipe and abandon my dual boot. I did a factory reset wipe (not including internal storage) and reinstall Cromi 5.4. I don't have the dual boot anymore, but it hasn't free the space....
The only idea I have left to free the space is to wipe also the internal storage... but as I don't think it will help (I may be wrong), I'm not very enclined to do it.
Have you any idea of how I can free this space?
Did the lubuntu installs create additional partitions?
Run ls -l /dev/block to see a list of yur partitions

Unlikely, but who knows.
The other possible explanation would be that the lubuntu data is stored somewhere in /data where it is not detected by the storage settings page.

Then a simple format of /data should bring it all back, right?
The command ls -l/dev/block indicate ls: Unkwown option '-/' . Aborting
But I installed Partition Table and it indicate that 81% (47Gb) of the memory is in /data (as in the screenshot attached)
I suppose that, as berndblb propose, I should format /data
What's the best ways to do it? With the option "format data" of TWRP ?

Yes, but this will erase *all* data. Erasing just the offending directory with a root-enabled file manager would be probably faster.

YES! I found it. There was a folder data/media/linux with files taking space for each time I installed lubuntu. I erased it and everything is fine now!
(Sorry for the space after "-l". My eyes saw the previous one but not this one...)

Hello everyone, how can I resize my /system and /data partitions?
I've noticed that my system partition is 2.2GB big, but my system is using only 1G of it.
Meanwhile, my data partition, where the apps are stored, has 3.9 out of 4.5G in use.
Is it feasible to resize those?
If so, can you link me to any good how-to on how to do it? I would be very happy to have 0.7G more in my /Data partition.

Last time I messed with the partitions I semi-bricked my phone and had to restore stock firmware via ADB and fastboot. Won't be doing that again anytime soon. I am sure it can be done just be careful, goodluck.
Don't do it... really... this device has 20+ partitions, and messing with them almost always results in a non-bootable condition, and sometimes in hard brick state, and since we don't have the proper QDLoader files (and never will), it makes it a perma-brick. Messing with partitioning on newer device is problematic at best, because we can only access about 5-8 of the partitions out of the 20 or so on the device, but on the Moto without Qualcomm QDLoader recovery files, it is almost impossible.
