How to get data usage monitor from Kitkat - Xperia Z1 Compact Themes and Apps

Hi,
in JB and KitKat there were two vertical lines around the data usage for any period of time to see(daily, weekly etc.....). in 5.1.1 you can only see the data usage of individual apps for the whole month. Is there a way to change that again?
Thanks in advance

Onavo or Android ICS for data usage monitoring?

As far as I know, Android ICS introduced an option for data monitoring. Since Onavo is the best application for that, I would like to know if there is any need to switch to Android's solution or we should stick to Onavo and such apps?
Is the usage of Onavo affecting battery life and can ICS offer options such as the consumption percentage in the status bar when you slide it down, block data in roaming or at a certain percentage and so on?
I am very happy with Onavo but should we keep it when we switch to ICS?
Ics have monitoring default 2gb warning n 5gb critical. It's in settings.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I know that ICS has the feature, but is it as good as Onavo is? For example, is it showing the usage percentage on the slide-down screen like Onavo?
Is Onavo consuming a lot of battery or is there some other argument for switching to the stock option?

[Q] Questions About Data Usage Settings

Hi, what does the Auto Haptic setting mean under the Data Usage section in Settings? Lastly, I cannot seem to change the data usage cycle on it. Can anyone help?
Did you check the manual?

I did but there is no mention of changing usage cycles there. My billing cut-off is every 21st.
Well? What does "Auto Haptic" mobile data usage mean?

"system" process consuming 60 - 90% battery at all times.

Hey guys,
I realized my phone (spice mi-425) heating up at the bottom over a couple of days, I suspected a runaway process and installed OS monitor, I found this process called system consuming 60 to 90 percent of my cpu at all times.(Screentshot attached) I am certain a factory reset will fix it, but i really want that to be my last option as i have too much data. Is there an alternative solution?
Thanks in advance
OT: is there a way to edit the thread title? I meant to type -
"system" process consuming 60 - 90% cpu at all times.

Since you have a N8000 obvious culprits are sync, wakelocks, and apps trying to poll for a connection.
Go through the settings menu and look at the Data Usage figures, check what is using most of the data. Pay particular attention to apps that you might only use infrequently.
Next step would be to look in battery stats. Download better battery stats (not sure if requires root or not) or equivalent and let it run a cycle to check what is draining the battery.
This next step is probably the most important thing to do with any android phone/tablet. Housekeeping. Go through the device and uninstall any/all apps you never use. Also, periodically go into app settings and clear the cache for apps such as G+, Currents, Pinterest, etc as these a re memory hogs. G+ can in the space of a day eat up 200mb of space just in cache. I reclaimed over a gig of space by clearing the app cache.

Battery drain after Oreo update?

So, after updating to Oreo, I noticed that my battery doesn't last long as when it was still in Nougat. I know full wipe is often the best recourse but I don't want to have to go through deleting all my apps and data and reinstalling them afterwards. That takes a loooooot of time. Anyone else who might be having the same issue? Also, any tips other than full wipe/factory reset would be much appreciated. Thanks!
i met the same issue also
before oreo, my phone battery was last long
when im gaming it almost take 6hour+ to drain off the battery
after updated it drain 40% within 2+ hours
so can i downgrade from oreo ?
somebody know what is the solution ?
Your device is probably learning how you use it (again) and I'd recalibrate the battery (let the battery die and charge to 100% with the device off)
I think you'll be back to normal after a few days
No issue here. My battery is just as good on Oreo, if not better.
Same here. Battery drains obviously faster. There's an app that obviously doesn't know how to behave with oreo.
No issues here, but I did a full wipe and start again fresh.. So far down to 42% at just on 4hrs SOT.. should easily get my usual 5.5hrs or there abouts
Guys always do a factory reset after a major update.
my battery was not good at android 7
but i flashed android 8 with newflasher
and turned on limited background activity and background data usage at app info for all of the system apps and other apps that support this feature.
my battery in android 8 has been perfect
and free ram is about 1.9 gb always
--
i suggest you to do that

Of course you're 100% right but sometimes it's just too much work. In any case my update settled down very nicely after 2 days.:good:
I disagree 100% with the need to do a factory reset after an upgrade! What, are we on version 2 of Android??? By this time, and with what we pay for these devices (and don't think that the software is free because it's NOT) and with the fact that they have become essential tools for most people, we should NOT have to do a factory reset every time a new(er) version is released and thereby forced upon us! It is up to the OEM to test these things thoroughly to make sure they work as advertised and expected. I do not have an entire day to devote to getting things set up correctly every time this occurs. If the OEM's do not want to test things properly then they should give us the option of installing at our own risk, and not mandating the upgrade.
I agree with you guess my battery is way better now, keeping in mind I have lifelog app and live wallpaper running in the background the whole day, I love 30% since the last time I charged, 6 hours since I unplugged the device and I have 1,30 hours screen on. Oreo is perfect ?

How did you set the limitations of the apps' background activities?

go to setting > apps > app info > touch 3 dot and choose show system > touch on every app that you want to limit it then go to > battery > turn off background activity
for limit background data instead of battery choose data usage and turn of background data
i suggest you to turn off these for all of the apps

Lobotomizing your phone like that beats the purpose of having latest n greatest functionalities from an OEM / Android. Although I wish there was a wakelock adjustment as a default setting w/o root. It all comes to personal preferences. I only limit background activities to apps I almost never use and I let the rest do their thing cause I like some of the google services and also some tasker profiles require a frequently updated context .
As for RAM, it is meant to be used and now android is smart enough to adjust the resource consumption on it's own without the need of a app killer which does a lot more harm.
Needless to say Google Assistant keeps on pushing it's Ok Google Anytime function down our throats. It's now easier to accidentally activate it and they did nothing to optimize the power use of that thing. I tried it thinking maybe it's usable now. But it actually managed to overheat the phone leading to ~10% battery drain/hour (just because i had tv shows playing and it was comparing the dialog to the hotword). Not 'Ok Google'.
Sooo make sure you have that disabled. Otherwise you're in for a nasty surprise in loud environments.
It's better, I would say.

Try this app. Very comprehensive usage stats.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sp
And don't forget to grant usage permissions via ADB for extended details.
We should post battery drain/hour and SoT.
Hi

My battery was at 96% at 4pm yesterday, this morning at 5.30am it was 15%. This is crazy drainage, I used it sparingly yesterday afternoon, it was at 60% by 9.30pm (bedtime). I didnt touch from 9.30pm to 5.30am. 45% drainage with absolutely nothing running. Thats nuts. Has the battery gotten anyway back to normal for anybody? Or is there a fix without factory resetting the phone?
