I've successfully bypassed the hotspot authentication and am able to launch my mobile hotspot by following the adb method found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/general/lg-g3-d850-unlock-mobile-hotspot-t3049518
But when I connect to my hotspot with any wifi enabled devices, I cannot connect to the internet.
I have unlimited 4G LTE data with Metro PCS and am using an unlocked rooted AT&T LG G3 D850 phone, running on Android 5.0.1. My data works fine on the device.
Would anybody have any tips or potential solutions?
Thanks in advance.
For anybody that is having a similar problem to me, I figured it out.
The problem was my APN settings. On MetroPCS use the following APN settings:
Code:
Name = T-Mobile
APN = fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy = Not set
Port = Not set
Username = Not set
Password = Not set
Server = Not set
MMSC = h t t p ://metropcs.mmsmvno. com/mms/wapenc
MMProxy = Not set
MMPort = 80
MCC = 310
MNC = 260
Autent type= Not set
APN type = Not set
APN protoc= IPv4
Bearer = Unspecified
Movile virtual network operator type= none
The hotspot will then work with no problems at all.

hi, well the gprs did work but when i restarted it it dont work anymore,
My wife's G1 is without a data plan so we set up everything with the following settings;
Name = T-Mobile US
APN = wap.voicestream.com
Proxy = 216.155.165.050
Port= 8080
Username= None
Password = None (delete the 4 digit PW that is there)
Server = Not set (also delete the 1 digit PW there)
MMSC = Unchanged (do not change it)
MMS proxy = 216.155.165.050
MMS port = 8080
These settings have worked great for the last month now, but have all of a sudden decided to stop working. When trying to send messages it just hangs with the waiting icon next to the photo. And when receiving the text body shows, but clicking the download button yields no results. Her phone is not rooted and is running the official T-Mobile RC33. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I tried a factory reset and the default settings didn't work. Then I set them to the ones above and still nothing. Are these settings erroneous? Is there a better settings option? Is T-Mobile blocking the MMS's because we have no data plan?
Get a data plan, there is no point in having a g1 without data.
I have been attempting to access my tethering functionality on my rooted S3 (SGH-I747) for a few days now without success. I tried this process because it sounded promising but unfortunately I am unable to access settings.db using the SQLite Editor app.
When I click on the file the following error appears: An error occurred while opening the database. unable to open database file (code 14):, while compiling: SELECT * FROM sqlite_master WHERE type in('table','view') ORDER BY name.
I was thinking I might not be properly rooted but I verified my root status with the root checking apps. They confirm I'm rooted.
I'm running the stock Samsung ROM.
My APN settings are (I use Straight Talk as a provider):
NAME STRAIGHT_TALK
APN tfdata
MMSC http://mms-tf.net
MMS PROXY mms3.tracfone.com
MMS PORT 80
MMS_APN tfdata
MCC 310
MNC 410
Authentication type Not set
APN type Not set
APN protocol IPv4
APN roaming protocol IPv4
Turn APN on/off APN turned on
Bearer unspecified
Mobile virtual network operator none
I've tried other apps such as WiFi Tether for root users and WiFi Tether Router with no luck.
This is the thread I was following: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544487
Does anyone have any idea of why I can't access settings.db?
I have the Nexus 7 LTE (2013) and I use T-Mobile pay-as-you data ($30 / month). I have great data connection, even when my N7 only shows 1 bar and I still get at least 1 Mbps download. No issue even when I am in subway train. This drove me to get T-Mobile Simple Choice Plan for my whole family.
I got the Nexus 5 straight from Google and the experience has been the exact opposite! I can get full bar, LTE icon showing up and... no data transmission. Sometimes I get good data, sometimes I don't.
I looked at the APN settings for both the N5 and N7 and they're slightly different, so I am wondering if I have the right settings. I don't know if I have a Nexus 5 with bad radio or just the wrong setting - Can anyone assist?
Here's what I have:
I. Number of APN:
Nexus 7: T-Mobile US LTE (fast.tmobile.com)
Nexus 5: there are 3 of them:
- MetroPCS,
- T-Mobile GPRS (blank)
- T-Mobile GPRS (fast.tmobile.com) --> selected
II. APN settings:
Blue = Nexus 7
Red = Nexus 5
Green = same settings for both devices

Use ipv4 on Nexus 5! Apply and reboot, test, report back.
Yeah I was gonna say the same as it seems speeds limited on IPV6 for your Nexus 5.
I have a Verizon Kyocera hydro elite that is gsm unlocked out of the box. I need to find an apn setting for net 10 to get data to work though. Can anyone help me please?
First you need to root the phone, install SQLite Editor, and then manually added the APN to the Carriers table in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony.database/telephony.db
The settings below works for Telcel and Movistar Mexico, probably is gong to help you to figure it your setting out.
