Ok what's wrong with my droid maxx? - Motorola Droid Maxx

Okay what's wrong with my droid maxx?
It's just...awful. I've had it for about 4 months and something has gone wrong. First of all,the battery takes forever to charge. I can plug it up for an hour and it'll go up 15%. Also, some of my apps won't work (Snapchat,YouTube,Google play store, etc.) ,sometimes it won't lock, its overall just slow and worst of all,I can't send or receive text messages. Please someone help...
EDIT: and also,it dies INCREDIBLY fast, like,in 6 hours itll use half the battery just sitting in my pocket.

Love my G2x, But the battery is worst ever.

Have had my rooted stock rom g2x since day 1.
Love phone. I am comming from H2 customed. I thought it had worst battery I have ever had.
That was till the g2x. I hate running a task killer. But am about to do just that to see if I can get anymore battery,.
Its to the point where I fully charge phone and yesterday with only 12 minutes of talk. Maybe 20 minutes of Web use and some emails. Battery was yellow.
This is a joke right? My only thought is that by having my Gmail auto refresh every 10 minutes possibly that could be some cause. But I if not in my car to keep on charger phone last barely a day.
Sounds like you have a bad battery, I get great battery life with the phone
G2X & Nexus S
I get 13hrs on this battety with wifi on all day.

Did u calibrate?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
do u really think that is the standard performance of the G2x battery or is it more likely you got a bad unit ? Come on now people, stop posting this crap and just exchange your phone when you only get an hour of battery life. Why start a freaking thread ? You could have used that time to go exchange your phone.

Totally true.
For those of you with problems, your phone is still new, it will be replaced either under buyer's remorse (15-20 days) or directly through tmobile after that period.
Just get a new phone and be done with it.
My first hot potato of a phone would get good battery life, until it cooked itself alive. My second phone was on for over 27 hours and was still at 50%. I'm still surprised.
First off guys. I am not a newbie to XDA or phones. No its not a bad battery.
Remember I am the Costco Manager so I can exchange phone as much as I want for 90 days.
This is my third as I wanted a perfect screen.
I have had this problem with all 3. So the battery is fine.
I use batt apk and I show about 5%loss per half hour after taking off charge
There is no way this is normal. Now I do have lots of apps. But I have froze some in Titanium. However I can blow out this charge in an hour with web use.]
No I did not calibrate. Did not read that till after. However I did charge initially correct.
My HD2 would gobble batterys. But this phone while I love it. Is not a great everyday use phone if not able to be on a charger during day.

Huh.. some people are getting awesome battery time. When it first came out, people were having success with doing factory reset on their phone. Idk.. I personally didn't buy it.. but they swore it worked. Give it a try.

So what you're saying then, is those of us with good battery life are the ones with the bad batteries? You really didn't think this through, did you?
I find my battery life was OK on the stock ROM. Nothing I'd get excited about, but I'd gotten used to insanely poor battery life running CM7 on my vibrant. Since I flashed the GB leak (no wipe, fixed permissions, erased battery stats) I'm seeing 18+ hrs with moderate usage.
gingerbread in general gets good battery life, cm7 for galaxy has problems due to samsung not following the google standards, those guys are basically shooting in the dark with that project, yet they have made huge improvments. recently people report decent to improved battery life on the latest builds.
to the op, what are your sync options? i find facebook sync and facebook contact sync are big culprits. also i only use google contact sync to get my contact list initially then turn it off. also if you have your gmail on the stock email app and the gmail app it can increase useage, if you prefer the email app id turn off google sync all together, if you like the gmail app id turn off fetch on the email app.
another culprit is weather apps using the location service, for me beautiful widgets is a battery hog on a vibrant rom but not on a captivate rom so results can vary from phone to phone.
and last of all i dont agree with calibration proceedures, i get some funky results with them, i just delete batstats and then charge to full. i find it takes 3 day minimum to get a good calibration, 5 days is sometimes needed.
I get very good battery life with mine and have been since day one. It lasts almost twice as long as my Vibrant and N1 did.

I use juice defender to turn on/off my data for me when its not being used and the screen is off. It seems to work less than on vibrant.
I'm running stock rom and my battery life varies TREMENDOUSLY from when I'm at work and seldomly using it to when I'm home surfing the web on it ( tablets too far from couch I'm surprised I got the cookies )

I was getting really bad battery life when I first got the phone (about 7hrs ) I ended up finding out that the touch led notification app was the culprit so I deleted it and also calibrated my battery and now my phone last all day easily and that with me playing guerrilla bob and the samurai game at work for like 2 hours lol
I recommend you download the where's my Droid power app from the market and see what's killing your battery
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Also keep in mind that it could be a certain app draining your battery. I downloaded the NFL apparently for draft day and even after exiting the app it took my battery down 15% in a matter of 10 minutes. Not to mention it had my battery's and CPU running super hot. On average I get about 12 hours out of a full charge with moderate to heavy usage.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
My last charge i got 36 hours of light use so I dont know what everyone's problem is lol

No wonder your a newbie and no listed thanks. What an asswade comment.
NO!!!!!!!!! What I am saying is that is has to be an internal issue with either synch times or possibly an APP be it internal or external that is causing MANY of us to have terrible battery times vs. others with good. Not saying anthing negative about those who are functioning ok.
I have been rooting and modding for 2 years. This is the worst battery usage yet. My Galaxy S 4g. Could last with same synch times and apps for 18 hours.
Now for those others who have there head inserted other then in there behind.
Okay ran some tests today,
1. Charged phone to 100percent.
2. Left everything the way it has been and no adjustments.
Battery at 84 Percent sitting tableside no text, app, wed or voice use after 2 hours. After 4 hours at 64 percent. After 6 hours at 51 percent. After 8 hours at 39 percent. This is with no usage. This is terrible.
Okay, Now have done following based on others test here and other forums.
1. Loaded Setcpu and made profile for sleep using stock 216 usage.
2. reluctently loaded Taskmanager Pro and killed all but needed apps.
3. Loaded Battery calibration app and after charge calibrated phone.
Left my email synch at every 10 minute as its needed for work.
We will see if this brings better test times now and report back.
What may be my culprit from studying this and other forums is I am in Seattle. We are Tmobiles home office corp and full test market for 4g and every change before rest of USA. I get full 4g at all times. In fact my speed tests are off the board. ave of 12 down 1.3 up speeds.
From what I am finding out, those of us in best 4g coverage (and Seattle is listed best) are finding much more drain on battery in standby and in use.
So my theory is that with this phone and its dual proccesor and my 4g, this is why myself and others in like markets are seeing much faster drain then others. Some dispute this possibility. however other experts say its fact.
Will report back findings tomorrow.
Thanks.

May be some of my issue vs. others.
I do have sync on for FB and Google mail 2 accounts. and I use Fancy Widgets for my Weather and news feeds. However I also used these on my HD2 a known battery hog running cm7 and it had even better life then the phone. I run them on my other Galaxy s 4g as well and it has awesome battery life.
But I will freeze these in my next test after running this test.

those are shocking results man... I dont know what to tell you... If I literally dont touch my phone for 6 hours i will drain no more than 10% of my battery, closer to around 6 or 7% based on my battery monitor widget...
I pulled the phone off at 6 this morning and didnt touch it until 12 and I was at 92%... Chelsea got ****ing spanked this morning and I got a barrage of **** talk text messages that I did not want to deal with haha so my phone wen untouched for a good 6 hours...
I will say though, when I first got the phone my battery life was pretty wonky... first drain was great, second one was mediocre, the third and fourth ones were horrible, drained in 6 hours flat of light-moderate use... I did a factory reset at this point to try and change things up... Calibrated once after that and I have run it up and down to get a good read and I have not looked back since, like i said i can get 20-30 hours of moderate to light use no problem at all!
Great battery on my g2x
I had battery problems with my G2x, only lasted about 7-8 hours on moderate use and cell stabd by was like 50% of battery use.
After i installed the leaked official Gingerbread ROM is like a new phone, ofter 16 hours of use i still had 43% last night. In idle mode it uses about 1% in 2 hours.
I think the battery probles come from Froyo not getting along with the dual core processor.
This phone is awesome!

Iceshark, you're not crazy. This is the same exact battery drain I get not even touching the damn phone! This is my second phone in less than 2 weeks, the first had the same results, both brand new.
Today I unplugged my phone at 12:45 pm, gave my mom a call for mothers day (less than 2 min talk time) Got to work and browsed web for maybe 5 minutes then clocked in at 2 pm. Took a 15 min break at 4pm battery was down to 80% (did some web browsing for 5 min). Took my 30 min lunch at 6pm (battery was down to about 60% (did some browsing for about 15 min). Took my last break at 8pm, and battery was down to 30%. I clocked out at 10:30 and I only had 20% battery left. The only timeI touched the phone was on my breaks, the rest of the time my phone was in my pocket. I had juicedefender running on balanced.
It's now 12:01am and I only have 14% battery left, that's not even 12 hours yet, and I only used the phone and it's features for less than an hour, all the other drain was sitting in my pocket. This is unacceptable. And I'm starting to think all the other people who claim to have great battery life are exaggerating or lying through their teeth.
Although I did a test yesterday using auto airplane mode, which automatically enables airplane mode when the screen shuts off, disabling any data, and then it turns data back on when you unlock the screen this helped very much with battery draining and at the end of an 8 hour work shift I still had 70% battery, but without data you can't receive calls, which sucks.
This battery drainage or bleed while the handset is not even being used needs to be fixed. And isn't it false advertising since the G2x specs indicate standby time is 400 hours?

Average real-world battery life?

So what kind of real world battery life are you guys getting? I've only had my Atrix 2 for a matter of 8 hours. It said 50% when I got it home, charged it up. I'm just curious as to what people are getting out of it. I'm coming from the Backflip which got, maybe 4-6 hours of frequent use (texting).
I'm getting anywhere from 14-18 hrs with moderate use, but when I get really heavy I can drain it n around 6-8 hrs. Battery life has been great!
I get about 17+ hours. I work and use the GPS all day and Pandora and by the time I'm home I'm still at 50%. The ATRIX 2 by far is my best android phone when it comes to battery life.

That sounds great. :O I was considering the extended battery when it becomes available, but at that rate, why bother?
True. I have yet to run out if battery before I got home. I had an extended battery on my incredible because that battery was horrible. Give it a whirl without the extended battery you won't be disappointed.

I'm getting about 26hrs on a charge, moderate use
I have the extended battery and honestly I haven't been able to get much more life at the end of the day over the STD battery.
Sent from my Atrix 2.
I'm putting mine through the gauntlet, when I get ready for bed I'm around 50%.
I am coming from an OG Atrix (which I lost) and my Atrix 2 is in the mail. Does anyone know how the battery life on the Atrix 2 stacks up against the Atrix 4G? I was getting pretty good battery life with the OG and was wandering if this one should be as good.
I have had both phones and they are comparable for my usage. Usually 14-15 hours with moderate usage.
I have not had it run out on me during the day even on heavy use days. I do charge it every night.

I had an OG Atrix, and at least for me the Atrix2 is slightly better on battery. It's just a subjective observation, but the A2 seems to be really agressive in turning off the wifi (after locking the screen), which might account for the increased battery life.
I can easily go "a day" (16 hours) and even if I forget to charge my phone overnight, I'll still have 20 some percent left. I'm estimating I use the phone a bit more than "moderate". I use it as a kindle for reading, game playing of course and then taking pictures of my 6 month old son.
Again subjectively, but it seems the only thing that's worse battery-wise is talk time. I've only had 2 long (>30 mins) calls so far on the A2 and they were pretty heavy on the battery. On my OG Atrix I never could get the battery to go down from being in a call, not sure what's up with that.
Hope that helps,
I charged up my phone last night to 100% at 10pm, took it off the charger, set my alarm on it, alarm went off at 600am, i hit the snooze three times and ended up getting up at 630am, my phone was still on 100% per the battery calibration app I use. About an hour ago it was down to 93%, not bad after being on the battery for 14hrs I'd say

Which calibration app do you use? Do you like it? Why or why not?
When I bought I played a lot and used wifi (turned off GSM module). It was about 14 hours of usage.
Now with moderated usage I have about 2 days.

The only reason i'm using a calibration app is because we don't have a fully functional recovery yet. Normally I'd wipe batt stats in recovery. But for the meantime, i'm using this one
Why don't I like these calibration apps? Back when I had my SE Xperia X10, rooted on WB rom, my phone was stable but my batt stats got jacked up during a flash of a mod so I decided to calibrate my battery (before I knew I could do so via xRecovery) and the result was all bad. After following the process and recharging it to 100%, my battery drained fast as hell....i'm talking 1% per minute!
Then I found out I could (and should) recalibrate via xRecovery and did so and it was back to normal. That being said, I used the above app to calibrate my battery on my Atrix 2 yesterday and so far so good. I am at 70% still and my phone has been on battery power since 10pm last night and I spent at least 1-1.5hrs on 4g during lunch. Few texts, few phone calls....I'd say it's doing pretty damn good.
Do you use any "battery saving apps"? I've seen all kinds out there but don't know which ones actually work and which ones just take up more space on the device and resources
I don't know if the Atrix 2 has it or not, but if it does (the OG does); there are battery settings in the settings menu that work pretty darn good. I've heard JuiceDefender works pretty good, although I've never used any of those programs.
My battery life has been great compared to other android devices I've used
(Nexus S, Captivate, Inspire4G(The Worst), Atrix 4G)
Typical day for me is: up @ 5AM, the phone is the alarm so it comes off the charger at around 5:01AM.
Configuration is:
1 Gmail account,
1 IMAP Account
1 Exchange Active Sync.
Typical routine:
check email at 5:30 or so for over night activity,
Turn on pandora for about 35 minutes @ 6:15 while I drive.
Typically during the day I'll get at least 75 - 130 emails on the active sync account. Send about 50.
About 100 - 200 text messages.
Facebook i'll check about twice.
I'll use about 1 - 2 hours of phone talk time.
7 or 8 google searches with a tad bit of web browsing at each search.
Another 35 minutes worth of pandora at around 5:00PM.
Random game playing / whatever the 6 year old may do.
at 10PM it goes back on the charger, battery is usually between 30 and 40%.
So far its only been completely depleted during the day once, but that was due to a 4 1/2 hour phone call that took place on top of the other stuff, and GPS nav for bout 90 minutes.
All in all, its a tad bit less battery life than my iPhone 4 was, however I would say it is quite acceptable. None of the other android devices could go the distance for my day, and the inspire 4g was just laughable to the point I returned it after 2 weeks to get the Atrix 4G. The 4G did good, but not as good as the Atrix 2 has so far.
Any phone that makes it through my day I consider to have a great battery. I've ordered the extended battery (motorola direct, non third party) I'll see what the difference is.
Damn man, I couldnt imagine being that tethered to the phone. When do you live life?
sent from my Motorola Atrix 2 via Tapatalk
That is one hell of a day...if I received that many emails and text messages on my phone everyday I would throw it!!!
I haven't gotten my A2 yet, but I am really looking forward to playing with it. Seems like a worthy upgrade from my trusty (but lost) 4G.

disapoitining battery razr hd

Hello guys, im new here and i am having problems with my razr hd battery.... I bought this fone about1 - 2 months ago, and in the begging i had something about 3hrs of screen use in a 12, 16 hrs day use, and now i am using the phone all day and the max i can get is this in the picture that is almost the same thing that i did in my old droid 2.. I have saw other users getting about 4, 5 hrs of screen using 4g...
Is this normal??
Ps: i listen to music a lot in my day, and today i have used a lot of 3g browsing and music and all i can get are this ****ty results...
Ps2: in my country doesnt have 4g tecnology, only 3g,
And sorry for the bad english..

If there is one thing that really bugs me about Android, its the battery life. I just don't understand it. The iPhone 5 has a 1400mah battery and a recent benchmark showed the iPhone got DOUBLE the battery of the Nexus 4 which has a 2100mah battery. Something is up with Android, it consumes too much battery. Im sure it has something to do with the mulitasking differences between the two OS's, but it needs to be fixed. A fricken 2550mah battery should last 5 days. This is bull.
Anyway, in your screenshots above you have a ton of wakelocks. It looks like the solid wake lines are from listening to music, but the rest need to be investigated. Also, once you get cm10 on the phone it will get significantly better. If you don't want cm10, you can start freezing motorola system apps using Titanium Backup. Be careful though, you may freeze something that locks up the phone, so be sure before you freeze.
I was having a problem with wakelocks and this app helped me track down the offending apps.

Juice Defender has made a huge improvement for me. You just need to be prepared to deal with getting push notifications every 15 or 30 minutes rather than instantly. Suits me fine...
Edit: I should add that I've got a XT925, not a 926, but I doubt it makes much difference...
Install BetterBatteryStats, it will monitor everthing on your phone and will help you to find what is consuming.
Notice your phone is always awake, and additionally your cell signal isn't all that great.

I only have a RAZR HD from Rogers, but I had pretty disappointing battery life at the beginning as well. I read to do a full restore and format thing,,..which didn't help. At the end I think the main culprit was email. I had 4 email accounts set up...2 from work, 1 personal and 1 I hotmail, which I use when I don't want to fill in my actual email. Then another one I wasn't even thinking of. The GMAIL account I had to setup when I did the first phone setup....so in total there was 5 email accounts which all were set to push notification. I forwarded my work email to one account, set up my 2 personal accounts to check every 30 min, and gmail for 1 hour since I don't use it for anything else then buying apps and whatnot. My battery life all the sudden got very good. I went from having a phone in the red by 7-8pm with trying to conserve battery to now using it freely whenever for whatever and having 30-40% left at end of the day. Hope that helps

Your settings might be different (guessing it's not a .com razr HD, aka USA model).

[Q] Worried about my battery life

Hey guys,
I just recently got a refurbished phone from T-Mobile's insurance replacement. My brother gave the phone to me instead and opted for something else. So phone right out of the box had 100%, used it lightly and I noticed every 4-5 minutes that i spent looking at the screen the phone would drop between 1-2% and this is just me looking at settings and downloading updates. So I figured maybe it was just the updates being intensive.
So I get my case and screen protector and I turn off my phone and let it charge on off to 100%. Turn it back on and start using it like I normally would (keep in mind if I have stamina on) I like to have my screen brightness at the highest while watching videos so I watch 3 videos over my LTE connection on youtube and then I hope into my car and listen to a audio book that's already downloaded. Time lapse was probably about 30-40 minutes.
When I get home the phone is down to 85%. Is it normal to lose 15% in less then a hour on this phone? This worries me because I want to utilize the life log and during my 9 hour shift at work I listen to spotify about 6 of those hours... maybe I have a dud battery? Every where I go everyone says it lasts all day with moderate use... but at this rate my phone would be dead before my shift even ends...

Hey guys,
I just recently got a refurbished phone from T-Mobile's insurance replacement.

Um what? What kind of phone did you have before? Did it have better battery life? Because the only phone I've ever had that had better battery than the Z3 was my Z1C (usually 7 hours)
Also, max brightness and 5 minutes per 1%? You know that equals 8 hours of screen-on time? IE a better battery than ANY PHONE ON THE MARKET HAS? You need some perspective, your expectations only make sense if you came from a Nokia 5110
I had a iphone 4S before this. My expectations are like this because every where I read reviews everyone says "insane battery life" "Lasts all day" and even the sony site boasted how the phone can last all day with stamina off and with stamina on it can last 2 days and with stamina ultra supposedly a week. This is why I'm worried about what's going on with my device.
If there are better sources with realistic numbers i'd greatly appreciate it to put me to ease.
I just set all the settings on my phone to get the maximum battery life except ultra stamina and even froze/disabled apps that i don't need. Yet I'm still draining just the same, I like to watch videos on youtube and play spotify and watching vids on youtube for about 30-40 minutes I drain about 10% with all the new settings. Brightness is also on minimum now and have that option for it ticked as well.
Just wanted to give feedback on the phone and having it for a week now. The battery life is truely amazing, It almost drains nothing when in standby its like the phone isn't even on at all yet sync is coming in with updates. This is a great phone and I have yet to have it die on me before getting home.

[Completed] [Q] Nexus 5 has woryingly high and weird battery drain

Hello, I have a big problem with my N5, ad it doesn't seem to really quite resemble any of the threads I've read on the topic. So battery life on my lollipop N5 is very bad, it's atrocious. I suspect it might be a combination of L just being a piece of S*** and my battery not being quite so healthy anymore. On kit kat, before the L update, I used to easily get around 2-3 hours SOT, with which I was happy. Now however, it is impossible to even do something for 5 minutes without having the phone die on me, if I dare start an app, the battery goes down the toilet, whether I turn the screen on and do something or not. I barely get 1 hour SOT now, which is incredibly bad, on kit kat, I wouldn't get these numbers even if I would be playing Real Racing 3, demanding game, it's a big one, still, it would last me about 1 hour.
I've also noticed that my battery life significantly when it is hotter outside, and then even battery saver cannot save my phone, it drains like !% every 5 minutes and that's why I suspect the battery as not being healthy. Also, sometimes when I restart the phone it gets from 65% to 6% for example which is weird, and it also charges really quickly, in half an hour it's done charging. On kit kat it's always taken around an hour to charge the phone fully.
The pone is literally unusable (yesterday I got 29 minutes of sot which is mind blowing for me, it was fully charged when I left the house and started using it).
Bottom line is I'd like some feed back, should I invest in a new battery? Should I just revert? I really like the UI and it's features on 5.1, so I'd really like to keep it, but I do not know what is up with this battery.
I will provide screenshots or whatever if needed.
Hello, thank you for using XDA Assist.
This sounds like an unstable battery meter. Try formatting and see if that works well for you. You can't possible charge that fast that's why I'm thinking about unstable battery reading.
Good Luck!
