CM 5.1 Ringtones and Notification Sounds for Nexus 5X - Nexus 5X Themes and Apps

I honestly have never owned a real stock android phone before, I have always had some type of CM build. While setting up my new nexus 5X yesterday I noticed how few options I had to choose from for ringtones and notifications sounds, so I copied the ogg files from my Samsung Galaxy S4 running OctOS 5.1 and thought I would share that for anyone else interested on here.
You can download the zip archive here: http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=06198885333845489395

Thanks, I was looking for something like that. CyanMessage has been my SMS ringtone for years.

Thanks for this! The 5x ringtones and notification sounds suck. This make it way better! I just Un zipped on my computer and copy and pasted them into the ringtones folder on my 5x. Easy pesy ☺?

This is great! I'd recommend grabbing Alarms as well--I manually copied over Platinum from my old phone, as I'm just used to it waking me up in the morning (aside: THANK YOU GOOGLE for adding gradual volume increase to the 10/28 update to Clock!)

eleets, How do you copy and paste to the phones folder?
Thanks

I Un zipped the file into a folder on my laptop.
Hooked up the 5x and in the pull down menu on the phone it gives an option for file transfer. Click that.
Then I took the unzipped file and dropped it into the ringtones folder of the internal storage of the 5x.

Thanks eleets

How do you see the phone when you connect this via USB2 on your computer?

Touch your notification that says "tap for other usb options" (or something like that) when plugged into your PC

Thanks got it.

I think the file is corrupt. I've downloaded it a few times and it's only 8kb.

I'm guessing you mean how to get them working on your phone? If so, I would use root explorer to extract them and then place the files in a notifications or ringtones folder in the root of your storage directory

grab the rom you want the sound from, open it up and pull out the files you want (they are in system/media/audio/...) and put them in /sdcard/media/audio/... (use the same folders obviously)
Does this need to be done by loading each rom, or is there any way to extract them from my PC and put in SD folder and move to system wih astro? I cant seem to figure it out
Can someon please explain the steps in extracting the audio files, for some reason I cannot get them from my nandroid backup, and I've tried un zipping a rom, and could not find them their either. Sorry for the noob question, thanks in advance

I tried downloading this, unzipping it to a certain folder (with windows and WinRAR), I open the new folder (2010-06-27.17.58.31), then there are 7 .IMG files in them. I get the same thing when I though it would be as easy as opening up a nandroid backup and getting the files from there.
Can someone fill me in on what step im missing? Thanks!
Anyone know this answer?
What you need is a full system dump. The link you were given is to a nandroid backup. Try this one:

Why not just put them on your sdcard in media folder? I think all roms read from there too as long as the paths are the same (minus the system folder)
Yeah, make the below folders on the sdcard either on the root, or within a folder called media:
notifications
ringtones
alarms
The phone will then present the contents of these when you are selecting one (eg/ the notifications contents will be visable when choosing a message alert).
i am familiar with the media folder on the root of the SD card, however, there are 2 reasons why i dont use it:
1. sometimes, the response is slow, so when someone calls, for a second or 2, the phone lights up with the contact calling but does not ring immediatly.
2. some files get duplicated.
thanks for your quick responses!

Strange, never noticed this happen to me. I've had it play a default ringtone while my sdcard was mounted, but never noticed any kind of delay otherwise.

Good point. I have a similar audio collection on my sdcard but I manually removed the ones that appear in CyaogenMod so they wouldn't duplicate but that could be a pain if switching between roms.
Anyway, here is the update.zip you requested

Default SGS3 sounds & ringtones download?

Anyone still on stock care to upload them, or have a link where they're already uploaded?
Some are strongly against them, but I love them. I'd much rather wake up to a soft acoustic piano, then some annoying/loud alarm.
funny, the first thing I did was go and find a "real" ringtone....
This place doesn't have the S3 yet, but they have quite a few others..

Is it flashable through recovery, or does it need to be manually placed in a folder. If the latter, what folder(s) do the files need to go into, I'm guessing in /system somewhere?
UPDATE: NM, found where it goes, in media/audio, it doesn't look like a flashable zip.

No, it's not a flashable zip. I should have said that. You would need to copy these into /system/media to work. You might also need to change the permissions on them to get them to work. I copied one sound to another folder (I wanted to use it as an alarm), and I needed to change the permissions to RW to do so.

Here also is a link to a zip of the whole audio folder from a stock SGSIII on verizon.
Just got it two days ago, and had a chance to do an adb pull of the device earlier today.
I remembered seeing this thread yesterday, so made the zip of the folder in linux earlier, just got on lunch and upped it to dropbox.
I see someone else already has it up, but, figured i'd share it anyway as another copy. Also not flashable, just a zip of the folder itself.
Sent from a digital distance.
both links are dead.... does anyone still have these to share? been looking all over for them
Edit: just copied them from system/media to the SD card using Astro

Thank you for sharing this. For me, with custom equalizer settings the Note 3's volume takes a hit.
EDIT: Argh. Never-mind, It doesn't work with my bluetooth headphones.
I can edit any volume spectrum on the file if you need help...just remember to open that zip file.. And simply backup old file and replace it with the new higher volume file..change permission and owner...and reboot....My phone is insane loud now...
My ear piece seemed so low..and now it's extremely loud...

Are you using wireless headphones? I tried all three files and there was no difference. I am connected via apt-x so perhaps the mod only boosts SBC volume and not apt-x? I am not sure.
Ideally I would just like the Bluetooth volume boosted. I don't really need the others. I attached my file. Thanks!

I only edited the "Headset Rx device" to 2.70.5% There seems to be no values within bluetooth like you said, but it seems to revert back to headset sbc settings....so lets try this. I don't have a bluetooth to test this on.

Thanks. So...I named my old with .bak at the end and copied the new one but now my phone won't boot past the AT&T logo. I had changed to the correct permissions and everything. What did you do for the phone not to boot up am curious? If all you did was just copy the volume file I posted for you it was nothing more then I edited the headset rx volume just a little more then stock..Didn't change or mess with any other volumes...Very weird that happened or did you flash the files from the link the op has? No one has to flash ANYTHING just side load it...

The size is different from the default file too however, 98kb vs 158kb. When I click your dropbox link it shows the correct file but when I download it, it's a .txt file. I have a feeling it's going to have the same effect so I'm wary to try again.

Question that is strange my file is 158kb in my system/etc. As well? When I extracted your zip that file was smaller for some reason?
Let me confirm..Your on AT&T Samsung note 3 correct? I'll just copy mine straight out of my phone and hopefully change that value that will increase Bluetooth.

Can you give the link to that zip file.
Maybe you need to put those ringtone/notification in system/media/audio and in their respective folder.
There is a tethered recovery that you can use to flash it with. I had a similar thing with my S3, had my own sound pack that I flashed with recovery. Tried on my G3 with the tethered recovery and works fine.
Create the following folders on you sdcard "Ringtones" "Notifications". Whatever sounds you put into these folders will show up in the respective list when you try to select the ringtone or notification. As for your flashable zip, just open it with a file editor, search for the folders containing the notification sounds, ringtones and copy them into the folders you just created on your sdcard. This way you don't need root and won't mess up anything in the system folder by accident.

Completely spot-on. Personally I always copy them manually to /system/media but your solution also works fine (don't forget to reboot though, before additional questions will be asked ).
