How to get most out of battery in lollipop without rooting - General Topics

Hi guys
Again with a beautiful frustating topic.
Lets get going
1-- goto settings->about device->tap build number till you see "you are a beveloper now".
2-- goto developer menu and do following.
1-- off all animations
2-- turn to no background process
3-- enable usb debugging
4-- set the shortest logger value.
3-- in language and input settings close the voice input. And then switch off the corrections and animations and sound of keyboard.
4-- now goto sound and notification and mute all sort of sounds.
5-- inside display set lowest brightness and screen timeout value. turn off ambient display. Turn off any extra mods there. Use smallest font size
6-- use as much users as you can.
7-- cleane the junk and residew and catch of apps daily.
8-- in battery settings use the intelligent power saving mode when idel and battery saver both.
9-- if not using device for heavy internet use 2g insted of 3g/auto.
10-- switch off the auto rotation.
11-- NOW THE BIGGEST THING FOR PROXIMITY SENSOR. WHEN CALLINS SOMEBODY JUST AFTER DIALLING THE NUMBER MANUALLY SWITCH OFF THE SCREEN WITH POWER BUTTON AND THEN THE PROXUMITY SENSOR WILL NOT BE TRIGGERED UP. THIS WILL SAVE YOIR BATTERY DURING CALLS.
12-- when sleeping use the none interuptions mode. This will stop the viberator to work hense it will not uae battery.
13-- in the app managment swction diaable all the bloatwares and apps you dont use. They increase both battery and device performance.
14-- turn off auto brightness.
15-- set location mode to battery saving.
16-- hibernate apps using clean master to make bevice faster and battery life longer.
WITH THESE MODS A 2500MAH BATTERY WILL RUN A QUAD CORE 1GB RAM AND 5 INCH WITH 2G FOR ABOUT 12 HOURS.
AND THAT IS SOMEWHAT OK FOR LOLLIPOP WITHOUT ROOTING
keep checking for updates
Dont forget to hit thanks for this work.
Peace

How will enabling usb debugging and setting a shorter logger value help battery life?

Enabling usb debugging will not but short logger will do the magic.
Writing files usually use power and processing speed.
If you write shorter you use less power.
Consider we both are on same device and i have logger size of half mb and you of 16 mb.
Its easy to understand that which one will use battery and why.

Rom Modules - Tweaks to your rom. Works for both stock and modded roms.
If there's undervolt module for your rom, use it.
Custom CPU governor such as smartass, smartassV2
(!) For some CM7 Roms, smartass makes your phone very lag, try smartassV2 or ondemand.
CPU & Processor
Reduce processor speed (Underclock).
Choose [powersave/conservative/smartass] governors. (!) Quite laggy.
[APP] SetCPU for Root Users
-Set processor speed and governors.
Extras
Use less UI-replace apps like CallerID, WidgetLocker, GO Locker etc.
Background and Running Apps
Use task killer ONLY for apps/games u wont use for the next few hours.
Dont leave task killer in the notification bar, kill it together.
(!) If u kill every system apps, your phone have to re-run them all over again. Thus battery drains.
(!) Watch what you kill
[APP] Titanium Backup's Freezing function (PAID VERSION)
-Prevent the apps from running without uninstalling them.
-Frozen apps wont be shown in App Drawer and cannot be launched. (You can defrost if you want)
-Safe common system apps to be frozen: (actually most of them are safe, what u freeze is what wont work)
Market (Market wont work)
Gmail (Market wont work)
Google Apps (affects Market)
Google Search (affects Market)
Google Talk
FOTAkill
Pico TTS (Speech to text wont work)

I think automatic brightness is the best. If you go out during the day you won't be able to see anything on 0 brightness.
It's probably more convenient to just buy a second battery.
Good guide for those desperate for more battery life though.
Green Power is a much simpler alternative to Juice Defender and seems to work a lot better too!
Also there is no need for a task killer if you are running GB. Complete waste of time.
Task killer is much easier than GB internal app control. Save time, not waste time.
But remember FC task killer together thats all.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Automatic brightness is good but not battery saving. The screen sensors have to work all the time and keep adjusting brightness. :/
Yes, we cant see anything under the sun. Thats the con.
1 more tip, uninstall useless aps
I have a Samsung Galaxy S running the FASTY ROM, and when I switched over to this ROM, I noticed I went from 6-hour battery life to 2-3 days battery life!
Go to every Apps that has Notification Interval in their setting, it updates in background although not display in the Accounts & Sync
Leave you phone off. Usually gets me unlimited power and run times.

That means you are good in saving battery.
There have been good tips mentioned but I would like to add that all those battery saver apps just do nothing. These kinds of apps are just ads while some of them like juice defender offer androidees a paid version (Ultimate, Pro etc) which is just another trick where it may be useful for lazy guys who can't turn wifi, bluetooth or other connections or apps off themselves!
I haven't actually tried any of ROMs which are told to be effective (like "undervolt") and on this position I must admit that manufacturers' ads for their mobile products are just lies as I have a SGS2 and whenever I start to play a HD game or connect via wifi it just starts to drain the battery times times more than the advertised battery life!
The only and reliable way of saving battery could be just using carefully: HD games for maximum 30-45 min and wifi connection for 2-3 hours. Playing movies or music could be run in a more span of time like 4-5 hours. Otherwise you will have no remaining for calling or necessary usages!

It's true, but other things also affect battery life (many of which the OP mentioned).
However, I just wanna add one thing which I'm sure many of you already know. But the reason I am mentioning it is because I witnessed this work on two Samsung Phones belonging to my friend and his wife: Galaxy Pro & Galaxy Mini (name of the phones, not my friends ).
At first, and on stock rom(not rooted) their battery life was horrible; and by horrible I mean less than 6 hours of usage (<24 hours idle).
I googled it and read somewhere, that fully recharging the phone then draining it completely (until it switches off itself) every day for a few days, the battery life will improve noticeably.
I told them about it; they tried it; and after only 3 days they started to notice the difference. They told me that it really made a difference. Now their battery life is 6-7 hours usage. 48 hours idle.
I know those numbers sound unrealistic but somehow it worked.
I have read this before, and it seems to be a common thing for battery life.
I haven't tried it on my DesireHD because I'm always hopping between different ROMs..
I hope this would be helpful for someone...
... my two cents Cheers!
Nice tips, thanks
Ways to maximize your battery life.
Generally when it comes to battery life I try to use those two tricks which work very well with ICS Roms.
I use ondemandx governor 122-1612MHz with suspend_freq=122MHz.
In order to achieve lowest power consumption in standby. You can tune manually Vdd at 122MHz =suspend_freq to the lowest value.
I also change in /system/buid.prop the value of ro.ril.disable.power.collapse to 0 instead of one by default in order to allow deeper sleep of the air interface.
Over all the type of ROM you are using, the age and capacity of your battery in your device also play a roll in the average time you get out of your device

Battery saving tips for android phones

Hi friends !!! i have written this thread in order to tell you how to get better battery life for your android phone . this always works for me !!!!
1. Find out where the power's going
The first step in prolonging your battery life is to find out which apps and components are using the power.
Press the Menu key, tap Settings, scroll to the bottom of the Settings menu and tap About Phone. Tap Battery Use in this menu to see what's eating the charge.
The chart at the top shows how long the phone's been off the charger and plots the rate of power drain over time. Tap any item in this menu for details and, if available, suggestions on how to cut its power use.
2. Use the screen wisely
For almost all users, the display is the biggest single drain on the battery. From the Settings menu tap Display to see the options. Tap Screen Timeout and set a short timeout to ensure that the screen goes dark when you aren't actively using the phone.
The Display menu has two options for controlling brightness; tap Brightness to select a constant screen brightness or to enable automatic adjustment to suit the ambient light. Tick 'Power saving mode' to have the brightness also vary to suit the image on the screen. You can improve things further by tapping the power button whenever you're finished with the phone, which instantly turns off the screen.
3. Turn off what you're not using
Radio interfaces help to make smart phones truly smart but they also suck up the battery's power. Drag the Notification bar down from the top of the screen to quickly toggle Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
Leave Bluetooth and Wi-Fi off unless you're actively using them.
GPS can often stay off too, but try to turn it on a few minutes before you'll actually need it -- on many phones this speeds up getting an initial position, meaning less time spent faffing with the screen and burning even more battery power.
4. Running apps drain the battery
It's easy to use the Home button to get from an app back to the Home screen, but doing so leaves the app running in the background. That may be what you want, but if not, the app will be sipping needlessly away at the battery. Quit apps properly by pressing Back until you return to the Home screen.
If you've quit all applications but something still seems to be draining the battery, enter the Settings menu, choose Applications and tap Manage Applications. Tap Running to list all the running apps and services -- tap an item for the option to stop it. Restart the phone to close all manually-started apps in one go.
5. Watch out for widgets
Widgets can be useful, but many -- such as news tickers or weather forecasters -- need processing time and data downloads to stay updated.
Resist the urge to festoon your home screens with widgets -- create application shortcuts instead and only run them when you need them.
While we're on the subject, Android's live wallpapers might look cool, but they're a constant drain on resources. If power's an issue, swap them for a decent gallery picture.
6. Email can wait
If something's urgent, people normally call, so it's safe to save power by checking for email less often.
Start Android's Email app and tap an account, then press the Menu key, tap More and choose Account settings. Tap Email Check Frequency and choose Every Hour, then repeat for any other mail accounts.
You can do the same in many social media applications, such as TweetDeck.
7. Go easy on video and games
Android phones make great radios, music or movie players, but video playback is one of the biggest possible drains on a phone's battery.
It might sound obvious, but don't get carried away with iPlayer on the morning commute if you need your phone to last until you get home again.
The same goes for Angry Birds, Stair Dismount or any other game -- levelling up can leave you powerless.
8. Try a third-party power app
The Android system does many things to manage power use but there are third-party apps that do more. JuiceDefender is one of the best examples -- there's a free version in Android Market.
JuiceDefender works automatically to keep power use down and you can tailor the settings to be more aggressive if needed.
The Plus and Ultimate versions add more features, but check first that the free version works on your phone.
9. In an emergency
With 15 per cent charge remaining, Android's low battery warning pops up and it's time for drastic action. Immediately head for the notifications bar and turn off as many options as possible.
With that done, hold in the power button and turn off Data network mode. Now exit all non-essential apps, return to the Home screen and turn the screen off.
From this point onwards, it's best to treat your smart phone as just a phone. Leave it alone unless there's a call or text to answer and you'll save enough power for when you really need it.
10. Never pass up the opportunity to charge
You never know when you might need a three-hour phone call or a gaming marathon, so it pays to top up your battery when you can. Invest in a USB adaptor for the car and buy a Micro-B USB cable that you can use to grab a top-up from any spare USB port. Obviously, perhaps, charging is quicker with the phone off.
If using your handset as a modem, tether it with USB rather than creating a wireless access point so you can charge at the same time. If your laptop supports it, configure its USB ports to provide power even when it's switched off so you can boost your phone.
Finally, if even all of these tips can't get your phone through the day, buy a second battery for backup .
I am sure this thread helped you . do give me your feedback .
regards ,
Hussain .
btu simply using n app like the easy task killer or the advanced task killer can simplify the work.
just a suggestion.

Battery LIFE!!!!!

I have a question, what is the best battery life method for unrooted devices like mine. I see a lot of posts about this but all involves having a rooted device.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA Free mobile app
You can go to setting and under application manager/all apps you can disable apps not yoused by you.
If your device have a battery saver option keep it always onn.
After every full charge reboot your device.
If you are not a multitakker then in developer mode go to last and limit backgroung activities to 2 or 1.
After every two hour go to swttings and application manager amd close all rumning apps.
Reduce screen on timeout.
Disable invrease legblity of text.
Use small fonts.
Use a black base wallpaper.
Do not keep extra appa for battery such as battery dovtor, clean master and antivirus. They are known to eat most of your battery.
When your device gets over heated just switchoff there and then pull out the battery cool it down and use it again.
Thats all
Peace

My iball 6318i battery is draining so fast .. tried lots of apps but same :(

hello guys this is my first post in xda
i have owned a i ball 6318i android tablet
it's battery draining too fast !!!!

just go in application manager and disable the apps which you never use.
in developer option at last you will fing backgroung apps. set it to 2 and in developer option close any animations also.
do not leave syncronisation otion onn aa it drains a lot off battery.
turn background data off. its found in data service option.
prefer using mute mode insted of viberation.
donot close apps by clicking home button. as it will run in backgroumd. properly close apps.
after doing this all you should have atleaat 1:30 hours of your battery increased.

[APP][4.0+] Ultra Battery Saver Pro

Ultra Battery Saver is an application that design to prolong your battery life by using ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS TWEAK and ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. The Free version is already functional and powerful, Pro version would unlock more advanced features that required root access.
Link to Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=exa.free.ubs
If you want to try the Pro version too (Paid App):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=exa.pro.ubs.r
HIGHLIGHTED FEATURES:
Auto Pilot:
Enable the application to work in artificial intelligence mode, it will automatically choose the best settings for your system.
No Useless Animation:
Usually, there are a lot of battery saving apps out there, with a lot of useless animation and effect, which is unnecessary and drain battery power. Since our policy is focusing on functionality, there are no such animation or effect in this app.
Privacy Care and No Ads:
Before displaying ads, application would need to download ads content over internet, which will waste bandwidth and battery power, also user data will be collected which in most case a privacy risk to user. Since its violet the policy of this application, we have make sure there are NO ADS in this application, in both free and pro version. Also we make sure data that processed by this application would never leave user's device.
APPLICATION FEATURES:
Smart Wifi:
When this feature is turned on, application would automatically turn off wifi when device's screen turned off, and turn it back on when device's screen is unlocked, user could choose to turn on or turn off wifi only in pro version.
Smart Sync:
This feature is used to minimize the time of sync run on the device. By Default, when this feature is enabled, device would TURN ON SYNC 5 MINUTES FOR EVERY 1 HOUR. User could choose more time duration in pro version.
Smart Brightness:
When this feature is turned on, application would automatically adjust device screen brightness base on the battery level to archive battery saving, user could choose auto mode ,day mode, or night mode in pro version.
Power Charging:
This feature could speed up battery charging by limited some features of device during charging, such as turn off wifi. We recommend only enable this option when you are not using your device during charging. User could choose to which option to apply during charging in pro version.
Wake Lock:
Note: This is not a battery saving feature and should only used when need only.
Wake Lock is a feature that ensure the device screen never turn off automatically when you need to do activity that need the screen to stay on, Example : Using GPS.\n\nBut this feature may drain extra battery power on some condition, so please turn it on only when needed and clear the wake lock after used.
FAQ:
Q1: Why we don't have task killer feature?
A1: Since we know about how android device works, and we even investigate the way of task killer work before, we can't add this feature because it violate our policy. When killing a service using task killer, android system would always automatically restart that service, then task killer will try to terminate that service again, just like a never-ending cat mouse game. Also, restart a service in most case will use more battery than leaving it run in the background, the only way to safely stop a service is using the android built in Force Stop feature, which is ONLY AVAILABLE IN OUR PRO VERSION.
