I flashed Slimsaber rom a couple days to try and enjoy Lolipop (battery life was horrible for me on stock cm 12.1).
All in all, it's a great tool and I get good battery life.
However I noted that overnight there is this unknown (to me) am that eats my battery while the phone is not in use.
Couldn't find info on it, I'm guessing dire the it's name that made it quite a pain to research.
Any clue, help appreciated.

Hi everyone. After many tries over a couple of weeks, I finally flashed cyanogen onto my Desire HD. Late christmas night none the less.
Instantly I've seen an issue though. It, or at least something, is consuming a lot more of the battery than it should. I have only installed one new lock screen and swype. I also understand it is a knightly build of cyanogen, so im hoping its something that can be fixed after a stable version is released.
To run a quick test, I unplugged last night for it to run without me using it and after 7 hours, it was down to 45%. When running the original sense rom it would consume much much less.
Is there something I can do in the mean time, as I am enjoying using cyanogen so far. A nice new kernel or a different rom anyone can recommend?

First one is easiest, and i believe it works just as well as the other one. (not 100% sure, but surely extended my batterylife.)
The second also gives a little more theory of the whole thing.
Hello everyone, I recently went from the Revolution HD rom to the ViperS rom. I had flashed the radio and firmware required (stated in the rom's thread) for the Revolution HD and didn't see anything stating I should flash a different firmware when changing to the ViperS rom.
Now I have noticed my battery life has been reduced tremendously, where on the old rom I could get a day of general use this struggles to last 5 hours now. I have changed the governors and settings for ViperS and reflashed it many times but nothing has changed. Am I missing something here?
You might have to re calibrate the battery.. this can be done by wiping battery stats after a full charge in 4ext touch, or using a battery calibration app from the play store.

Wiping battery stats is actually useless, it auto wipes every time it hits 100% and doesn't actually offer better battery life. To calibrate, just charge all the way up and discharge all the way down two or three times.

If I see another misleading post about wiping battery stats I will bang my head against the wall in frustration. I dont know how many times Ive said it, IT DOESNT HELP. A google engineer even said as much and gave a full explanation on G+ (google it if you want more info).
Sense 4 ROMs naturally have more battery drain than Sense 3.6 for some reason. To calibrate the battery, charge it to 100% then let it discharge to 5% then repeat 2-3 times. For some reason ROMs need a "settle" period
This is interesting because this Rom has given me the BEST battery life I've ever had in a Rom. Have you tried disabling the logging feature in the settings? This might help a bit. Also perhaps it does need to settle a bit. I've been reading and it's about 50/50 some are getting great battery life like me, others are not....I'm not sure what the differences are that some will get great results and others not. Maybe it's in the settings.also I did not flash the new firmware...

Okay I will give it more time to see if the battery just needs longer to adjust and I'll turn off logging.

Im just switching to AOSP JB by AdamG Version 0.1.4.
No mod, stock AdamG ROM kernel, full wipe, just install few app such as whatsapp, cpuspy, medscape etc...this is not my daily phone..
the problem is very high battery drain..
in 4 hours battery drop from full charged to 69%..
Here the screenshot and BBS stats...Can somebody help me please to find the culprit??
Is Google Now on? it takes a ton of battery.

You need to install a better app. The Android built in power usage thing is about as much use as a chocolate teapot, and better battery stats isn't much better.
Try system panel from Play, you will need the paid version from here. Put it in monitoring mode and leave it for a few hours.
You will be able to see what is chewing CPU then, and that is invariably the thing that is causing the drain. It very rarely fails to assist me with diagnosis of an obscure drain issue.

Cool, it's well worth the couple of dollars.
I've used it pretty much constantly in monitoring mode since they were in beta when I had my desire. So, probably not far off a couple of years usage with me.
It doesn't eat battery either, because it polls when the device wakes up for another reason.
And the thing which really makes it good for me, it records usage of the system tasks, such as kernel threads, which can be massively handy in diagnosing an issue.
Solved by flashing latest adamG ROM..

Hello everyone and thanks to all the developers for the knowledge.
I've searched in the forum but still can't find the answer, so I have one question:
I bought a new battery, wich is still in the blister. I've already flashed my phone before (specifically Infuse 4g) with Custom Rooms, and had no problem.
My question is if it's good to use the new battery and flash the cellphone after charging it completely (i've read already battery university and pages like that for the health of the battery), or, if is it better to keep the actual battery, then flash, and then change the battery for the new one.
I know it's possible to re-calibrate the battery after flashing with programs, but I also believe that the first charge it's extremely important for the new one, and the stats for the previous one might affect the new one.
What would you recommend?

You should def go ahead with the new battery.
There is nothing related with battery and flashing roms
Only sometimes you may get calibration problem which can be simply calibrating battery by using battery calibration app from playstore or deleting battery_stats.bin file

It doesn't really matter to much when you flash the rom, just i would clear the battery stats after you flash it just to be sure.

Hi everybody !
I'm new on this forum, so please tell me if I do something wrong.
Since approximately one month I have problems with my Nexus 5's battery, and a poor screen-on time (+/- 45 min).
I run stock Lollipop 5.0, with ElementalX r70 kernel, and I have the MultiRom mod installed, which I use sometimes to try different ROMs.
I didn't notice differences between stock and custom ROMs, but I didn't try for a long time.
May someone be able to help me ?
My Nexus 5 is one year old, I hope I won't be obliged to change the battery.

The first way you need to do is checking your wakelock in detail by using some apps like GSam Battery Monitor, or Better Battery Stat, you can find them both in Play Store.
