SanDisk 200 GB MicroSD card WORKS!!! - Blu Pure XL

When I saw that the specs of the Pure XL said that it supported cards up to 64 GB, I suspected that Blu went with a file format for the MicroSD slot other than the "standard" exFat (which requires a license from Microsoft to use.)
I tried several cards, 32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB, and 200 GB. None of them worked initially. So, I ended up leaving the 32 GB in and went about exploring the features of the phone. A while later, I got a pop-up message that the card was ready to use. Sure enough, it was added as sdcard1 in the file system. I then checked the file format (since it reformatted the card), and found that they are using Fat32 (which doesn't require a license.) After a little research, I found that Fat32 supports up to 2 TB, just like exFat, only with a little more overhead. At any rate, I thought there was hope for my 200 GB SanDisk MicroSD card. I put it in. The phone did not see it, and reported that there was no card inserted. I went about exploring the phone features and forgot about the card being inserted.
This afternoon, 16 or so hours later, I got a pop-up saying that the SD Card needed to be formatted before it could be used. I selected format, and within a minute, it was showing up as sdcard1 with 183 GB free space.
I'm a bit weary of why the phone seems to take hours to decide if it's going to work with a given MicroSD card, but here's to hoping that my 200 GB continues to work!

That's good to know! I wonder if it could instantly recognize the card if you pre-formatted it as FAT32 on a PC first.

BTW, it didn't recognize any of the cards I put in it (or told me they weren't compatible.) I have no idea why it decided to format my 200 GB card today (after being inserted for 12 hours), but I'm not complaining!

Damaged SD Card

I'm starting to get really annoyed with either this phone/android or cm7. My SD card apparently has been "damaged" yet again for the 2nd time in 2 days while the phone sat at idle. I have a backup of all the important items but this is beyond annoying to keep reformatting sd cards. Any ideas as to what might be destroying my sd card?
What's the default capacity of the card? If it's 8GB, is it the card that came with the phone? If it's not that card, did you buy the card from a reputable vendor? There are entirely too many counterfeit cards floating about these days.
It's a 16GB Class 6 card I bought on Amazon. Forgot the brand and it's not even listed on the card itself. I think it was Komputerbay. That's probably my issue.
Hmm.. Was the card sold directly by Amazon, or was it a 3rd party just selling "new/used" stuff via Amazon?
Nah it was from a 3rd party. I was being cheap and found a 16GB Class 6 card at a good price so I figured who cares what brand it is and I guess 4 months later is when I'm paying for that.
Something to try, rather than reformatting every time, is to mount the card on your computer and run fdisk. Try this link for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4112485&postcount=9
I realize he is talking about a Windows Mobile phone, but this has worked for me.

I'll give that a shot when I get home and more than likely I'll be smashing this card and using the stock 8GB card till I can get a real good card.

Yeah I'm betting it's a cheap p.o.s. card. Good thing I got my invite to Music Beta today! I'll upload my music there and be fine with the stock 8GB card.
Another thing that seems to work for me when I get "Damaged SD Card" or "SD Card Unexpectedly Removed" is boot into Recovery, go to Mounts and Storage, and make sure all four partitions are unmounted. I don't know why they are mounted on boot, but it seems like when I get an SD issue, I go into Mounts and Storage and one of them has to be unmounted.
This usually happens when I have recently mounted USB storage to transfer files to/from my computer. If anybody has some insight into this, please speak up! Thanks.

Ne1 who has problem with SD card or Ext4 partition Conversion, Please read this...

1....It took me about an hour to format and reformat to figure out why the computer didn't see my card. I had to go to Windows system management (Google it) to set a path and a new drive name for the SD card. The system management sees the card but somehow, the card didn't not show up in Explorer....This could help with some ppl that got stuck with the sd card after the CWM partition.
2....If DeeSexton 1024MB w/ 0MB swap did not work for you, then try 2048MB w/ 0MB swap. That setting worked for me.
3....If you want an easier reformatting solution, use this. Make sure you have backed up your data or your SD card is empty, unmount SD card within your phone, and format it with your phone in SD setting. If your PC doesn't recognize your sd card, go back to solution 1 to get it back.
These solutions are no mean to be concreted. However, several ppl have reported to work. Please do more testings and let others know those work. Thanks Team Acid and other major devs (sorry if i missed your names) to get these amazing roms out.

Basically, you were advertised a 16 gigabyte card, but in reality it can store
16,000,000,000/1,073,724,841 = 14.9 gigs giver or take some megs.
So yes, you ARE getting all the space free your card has.
It's never going to show 16

on point. a different numbering system often confused as loss of bytes ironically accounts for the seeming discrepancy
yep I checked my card with Acronis Disk Director, which actually saw the card as a drive, and there were no mini-partitions just 14.9 gigs of space

Warnings with SD cards for A2

So I recently ordered a Sandisk Class 4 16 gb sd card for my Atrix 2. I wanted to be able to keep a backup of a ROM at all times while having 500 songs on my phone..but 2 gb just didnt cut it.
So i tried to connect the card with my phones USB cable while having it in the device, but it just wasnt showing up on the computer. I had to end up using a card reader.
It still works...just something to keep in mind while buying SD cards.

thats probably it. I had this happen off and on until I let android format it. my recomendation would be to put it in your computer and format it as fat32 then put it in the phone and have it format it
Thanks a lot ill try that
Although problems do not seem to be prevalent with the slower class cards, it might be a good idea to follow Patriot's advice regarding formatting. The suggestion was posted by Patriot in response to a review of a 32GB class 10 microSDHC.
Patriot acknowledged a problem with hemorrhoid OS and 32GB class 10 cards and suggested a temporary fix of performing a full format on a Windows PC with a 32kb allocation size, obviously FAT32 since stock hemorrhoid does not recognize NFTS.
The reply can be found in this review although the specific page will change if more reviews are added.

Be patient... they'll likely come sooner or later.
I got a 16gb class 4 sandisk and I am formatting it in my computer using following method:
I inserted the memory card in my E71 and connected it to my computer in mass storage mode. Then I started formatting using fat32, 32kb through my computer. But it is taking ages. Since last 2 hours, only 35% is completed. My questions:
1) Can i stop the format in between ? Or will it lead to certain faults?
2) Is the format this slow? Or should I try formatting it by putting it in adaptor and putting the adaptor in laptop slot and then format?

I'm using a Kingston 32GB Class 4 card, which is actually in my SGS3 now from my A2, and I have never seen anything to complain about with it. I still hit high benchmark scores as noted with my A2 as well as my SGS3, thinking though that I may try a higher rated class sdcard for the SGS3, since it doesn't seem to have the issues that the A2 has seen. But, a little more digging around has to be done before I make that kind of jump! (Better safe than sorry!) But, yes, the Class 10 cards will -eventually- give you grief if you try to use one with the A2. Not sure the 'scientifically-proven' answer to give here, just know that from everything I have seen, which has been substantial enough for me to believe that...

You should try a re-formatting of the sdcard, as you likely have some corrupted app data/other data that is causing the rebooting. A Class 4 card should give you no problems like this, unless you have some issues like I just mentioned.
And if you're trying to restore app data from, say, Titamium Backup, I recommend you do not do this. Just try a fresh format of the card, and do not restore data to it. Run your phone afterward for a good while to test. If your phone continues to reboot after you have tried this, changes are that you can rule out the possibility of the cause being due to the sdcard, and we can explore other possible known culprits...

SanDisk Micro SDXC 64 GB Class 10 does it work?

I have only had my TF700 for aboutdifferently. w but while was waiting for delivery I ordered the SanDisk Micro SDXC 64 GB Class 10 card. I have this same card and it works straight out of the box. Only issue is you can not use the SD card for flashing it seems. You would need to format the micro sd too FAT32 if you want too use it for that. Otherwise have another SD card like a 4gb or 15gb that is FAT 32 when you want to mess around with flashing other rom's or images through RDK.

And how about creating two partitions? A small one in FAT32 for flashing purposes and the rest in exFAT? Wouldn't that work maybe?
I got my 64gb card today. I ordered the SanDisk Ultra microSDXC class 10 uhs - I but they sent me the SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDXC class 10 uhs - I card. Don't know the difference between them. I glad I ordered when I did because I only paid $44.00 and now it has gone back up. So, I carefully opened the the package just in case I had to return it. Put it in the sd card adapter put it in the sd card reader on my Win 7 64bit pc. I down load a couple of 1080p hd YouTube videos and transferred them to the microSDXC SDcard. I put the card in the TF700 (with my fingers crossed) and the TF700 recognized it. I then was able to play the 2 mp4 1080p videos perfectly. I did not have to re-format, it worked right out of the box
I could be wrong but I thought I saw a commit that added ntfs and exfat compatibility to CWR. I have this same card. When I looked at the partition it had, there was 16mb of unpartitioned space before the exfat partition. I just reformatted the partition to fat32 so I could use it with twrp. However I still couldn't mount it in twrp. I reformatted the entire card this time using fat32 and leaving no unpartitioned space. It now mounts fine in twrp, but I'm tempted to reformat to exfat again and see if it works on CWR.

I used MiniTool Partition Wizard. By far the best partition management software for windows 7. Oh and the maintainer for the tf700t CWR said there are some library issues preventing exfat from working correctly at the moment. Hopefully we'll be able to use exfat in the future.
my piece of advice is to make just one partition and have it be MBR (master boot record). don't do any linux or mac GUID stuff. then I formatted it as exFAT. got it working today =)

SanDisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card Issue

I bought this MicroSDXC card http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007WTAJTO/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00 from Amazon and every so often my microSD card will vanish. It will not show anything on the card when using Root Explorer and my music will not play and data on the card will not work. A few reboots fixes the issue but it's troublesome to reboot all the time. Sometimes it even says the card is damaged and needs to be formatted to work so I just reboot again and then it works. Anyone else having issues with this card? What can I do to remedy this problem besides rebooting all the time?
I have also experienced similar issues with the same card I got off Amazon a few weeks ago. I am tempted to reformat it from exFAT to FAT32 only issuue I would have is any video files larger than 4GB won't translate since FAT has a filesize limit If you don't have this issue I would try reformatting to FAT32 (backup your card data first) I suspect you will have no problems

CWM cannot read sdcards formated in exFAT, only FAT32.
If you need to format a 64 GB card in FAT32, a lot of people suggest using:

Maybe Samsung lied to us and the Phone can't handle 64Gb cards. Still having this issue and nothing fixes it.
I bought a 64 gb card a few weeks back when they were on sale and right out of the box I used GUIformat on my PC to format to fat32 and have never had a problem.

It may also be that the microSD isn't that good either, and needs to be replaced. Other devices have had trouble with the 64 GB sandisk cards as well (i.e. Nook HD+ w/CM 10). But then again, the phone might just be temperamental as well.
I bought a card like this and I still can't get it to work, my computer recognizes it no problems but the phone won't, I've tried a few different formats. any suggestions?
