[q] flashing different variants - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm new with S6 development. Been playing with SONY devices since 2011.
So the question is, can I flash a 920F stock firmware on a 920I device? Will brick my phone? Does it need a special process to make it work?
I really want to flash 920F on my 920I and I need to know if its secure.

You can't flash a firmware for the G920F on a G920I.

As long as you didn't install the new 5.0.2. update you should be fine.

Unfortunately you are stuck with no root and no way to flash back with the OF1 update. This is their latest update.
so when i can acces to root, i just download Rom of 920I and install in my phone normally?

Hi guys!
This is my story
I bought a Galaxy s6 today in japan akihabara, a "sim free" phone..., I was checking the phone at a restaurant and I found that this cell have a edge firmware
The number model is: SM-G9250
but the real model is: SC-05G
At the moment works fine, but I would like to root it with a real S6 firmware, not a edge firmware...
Do you have any information which firmware can I use? I need it sim free.

The firmware must match the device variant of the S6 when flashing. Flashing another modem or bootloader will cause a soft brick. I'm not sure how the edge firmware got flashed onto a S6 but flashing another variant of firmware onto a different phone will DEFINITELY cause soft brick.
Then find a SC-05G Firmware. I dont know if sammobile lists that.

I recently rooted my S7 SM-G930P using XDA method, I would like to use an international firmware in my phone and the questions are:

Official 7.0 downgrade 6.0.1 possible?

Hello Guys. The new 7.0 BTU firmware for g930f downgrade 6.0.1 is possible? Knox warranty 0x0?
Yes it possible and it dont trigger knox. But why the hell you wanna downgrade? Nougat is so much better than MM

Thanks for fast reply. Can you try the downgrade? I would like to know before I flash that it works.
You want us to do the dirty work for you? Who are you? Why is your phone and your time more valuable than ours? You have all instructions here on XDA and do it yourself. Its not hard.

I asked only that someone had tried to downgrade. You do not have to do a jerk style comment.
Yes you can downgrade back to Marshmallow using ODIN or SmartSwitch, KNOX 0x0

The Answer is; Yes you can!
But, this can only be done on international Galaxy S7, S7 edge variants, including the American and Canadian version, but except to those device with built in “locked bootlooader” such as the Verizon and AT&T Galaxy S7, S7 edge models or we can say models with Snapdragon Processor.
Devices with unlocked bootloaders can be freely downgrade-able, but those with highly secured bootloader cannot be messed around.
As long as you flash the original firmware with ODIN, you'll not have any problem for unlocked bootloaders.
Download the Firmware from Sammobile or use SamFirm. Flash it through ODIN and you are good to go.:good:

Flash SM-G930F firmware on SM-G930L phone?

Hey everyone,
I picked up an S7 SM-G930L yesterday which has come with a lot of bloat.
I'm hoping I can just flash over it with the SM-G930F international firmware. Does anyone know if this is possible?
I tried searching for an answer in other threads, but couldn't find anything which said it would be possible. There's a bit on the US variants of the S7, but I found little about the G930L.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that if you are planning on using Odin to Flash a different Firmware it's going to fail... That's based on my experience trying to Flash Tmo Firmware on a Canadian Note device (accidentally by the way) - But it definitely failed..... You may have better luck with the S7 - But I wouldn't count on it.

No man. It won't work. Just use a custom firmware and by the way, g930l has an unlocked bootloader.

I have tried mine bro. It just don't work. Odin keeps on failing.
Thanks for the replies.
However, I actually noticed on the back of the phone that the model is SM-G930S, despite the firmware being SM-G930L under the settings.
Seems like the shop I bought it from (refurbished) have reflashed it. I may actually give it a go and try the G930F firmware.
Does anyone know if I try another firmware if it will brick/cause an issue with the phone? E.g. will it wipe/reset the phone, or require me to reflash the original?
Also got smg930l phone. Please let me now if you find any solutions. Sms on this is really sucks.
